40 937 that’s the number of minecraft mod packs currently available on curseforge it’s a crazy amount of fan made content and while many of these modpacks offer unique and fun twists on ordinary minecraft gameplay there’s a new one that separates itself from the rest in this video we’ll be taking a look at A mod pack that aims to give more freedom to the player than ever before this is a mod pack that shows how changing one simple game mechanic can bring us back to our minecraft roots this is bliss Minecraft’s peaceful mode is one of the most underused features of the game very few mod packs meant to be played in peaceful mode have ever been made the most popular of them being peace of mind a 1.12 modpack with only 86 000 downloads minecraft without enemies is boring The world feels empty without any hostile mobs caves feel barren dungeons lose their purpose and the game isn’t actually even beatable in modern minecraft peaceful mode is a gimmick that few players choose to play with but this is where bliss comes in bliss is a peaceful like mod pack a Fresh twist on vanilla’s peaceful mode that’s never been done before but what exactly does peaceful like mean well bliss offers a variety of fundamental changes to minecraft that contribute to this label but the most iconic is this in bliss monsters will still spawn but they won’t attack you unless you provoke them Now that might not sound like much but this single modification changes everything after all minecraft is a sandbox freedom is at the core of every aspect of the game freedom to build to explore to help your friends or to hurt your enemies it is this freedom that not only gives Minecraft its universal appeal but also its infinite replayability bliss has identified this fact and expertly built upon it with the introduction of its peaceful like difficulty comes new freedom the freedom to fight on your own terms but it doesn’t stop there bliss makes a number of changes to the Game that render combat itself entirely optional in order to understand what i mean let’s first talk about what it takes to beat minecraft as you probably know in order to reach the end and beat the ender dragon eyes of ender are necessary for activating the end portal These eyes require blaze powder which is crafted from blaze rods which in turn can only be obtained from blazes if blazes no longer spawn which is the case in vanilla’s peaceful mode then blaze powder is completely unobtainable meaning it is not possible to reach the end in bliss blazes still spawn so this Isn’t really an issue but what if you could get blaze powder without killing blazes and what if you could get string without killing spiders and feathers without killing chickens and so on and so forth in bliss there are alternative means for obtaining just about every resource you Can imagine so that if you don’t want to fight you don’t have to even the ender dragon itself will only attack you if provoked and several end gateways will already exist without needing to beat the dragon meaning the dragon fight is entirely optional you can adventure through the game like Normal fighting every enemy you encounter or you can live your life as a complete pacifist fighting absolutely nothing okay but with that being said i am leaving out a key detail here this new passive until provoked mob behavior is not actually universal certain guarded structures remain guarded and you will still be attacked On-site if you try to enter them bastian remnants pillager outposts and mansions are all still dangerous locations full of aggressive enemies but don’t worry the first time you go near each of these structures you will receive a noticeable warning letting you know that it is not friendly territory So this specific exception to the mob behavior isn’t really something you need to know about ahead of time in fact in this mod pack there isn’t really anything you need to know about ahead of time one of the most appealing parts of bliss is its thorough documentation system and I know the words documentation system don’t exactly sound exciting but hear me out all content is fully documented in a lighthearted easy to read guidebook no convoluted quest lines no 12 different book items you have to dig through for information on each mod and no digging through some old wiki pages Made for an outdated version of the modpack three years ago all the information you need is in one place there are even custom jei entries for most blocks and items hinting at how items are used and where you can find them all of this together makes for an incredibly immersive experience And when it comes to immersion bliss doesn’t stop there its audio visual experience is truly second to none it comes with a built-in customized version of complementary shaders as you can see on your screen right now which truly makes the game more beautiful than ever before Custom music is added to the pack that actively changes depending on various circumstances such as the biome you’re in your proximity to villages strongholds and various other structures there’s even a home theme that plays when you’re close to your bed having music dynamically respond to the environment to such an extreme degree is Truly something i’ve never seen before in a modpack and its impact on immersion is massive Added to that is a plethora of ambient sounds mobs and particle effects all of these factors work together to create what i believe to be the most immersive minecraft modpack ever made beyond what we’ve talked about so far there are a number of other great additions bliss makes to the game Support for controllers increased accessibility the ability to customize your experience by simply changing the in-game difficulty bliss makes all of these changes and much more even after everything i’ve shown about bliss i’m sure many of you watching still aren’t interested in trying it perhaps even the majority of you But i hope you’ll give it a chance i don’t usually like easy slow paced gameplay and so i didn’t think i would like bliss at all but i ended up loving it it’s an almost meditative experience that i certainly didn’t want but i think it’s exactly what i needed And it could be exactly what you need as well in a time where every popular modpack is filled with as much content as possible bliss is a reminder to slow down and remember why we all fell in love with minecraft in the first place Video Information
