Slimes are a super useful mob in Minecraft but they can be hard to find so I’ll show you everything about them and how to build a slime farm in this guide so of course the first question would be where do you actually find slimes these are definitely not your Most regular hostile mob and they’re not just found everywhere well there’s two different ways that slimes can spawn in Minecraft the first one is on the surface of the Overworld but this just can’t be any biom in Minecraft tonight it actually has to be one of two biomes And really only one biome that is the swamp which is actually fairly rare and has been made even more rare with the past few Updates this is one of the best places to find slimes in the game and that’s because between y51 and y69 slimes can spawn super frequently across The biome slimes can spawn in light level 7 or lower but the lower the light level is the higher chance of them spawning and also the stage of the Moon affects it so the new moon you have literally no slimes and at the full moon you have a ton but there is another Biome these can generating and that is the mangrove swamp but the slimes are so incredibly rare to be found in the mangrove swamp it is totally not worthwhile in the slightest to even attempt to farm slimes in this biome however there is another method of which Slimes can spawn in the game and it doesn’t have to do with swamps and mangrove swamps it’s the things called slime chunks now what is a slime chunk and how do you find it Well for that we want to use chunkbass.com then go down To the seed map and zoom in on the area we’re wanting to look at and that’ll show us the slime chunks you can notice right here they’re shown in green these are full 16 by 16 block areas across the world where slimes can spawn so once you Find a slime chunk like let’s say this one you can mark down the coordinates go to that area and by the way this area is in no way limited to mangrove swamps or standard swamps you can find slime chunks basically anywhere and in Java Edition you can press F3 and G on your Keyboard to enable chunk borders so we’ve just done the coordinate matching and we found this is a slime chunk so we can work this out and basically the way the slime chunk slime generation works is that slime spawn inside of the slime chunks in y40 and downwards and this can Be unlike the swamps at literally any light level so actually the ideal thing to do is to light up areas in the slime chunks and so you confirm slimes both of these ways and later on in this video I’ll be showing off a super easy slime firm design that I invented that uses The swamp method but before we get on to that let’s learn a little bit more about this slime mob slimes will naturally generate in three sizes the first one is the large slime which looks like this whenever you kill a slime it’ll drop up to four slimes of a smaller size this For example dropped three medium sized slimes now giant slimes as well as medium sized slimes can hurt you however if we hit these medium sized slimes they then turn into up to four of the baby slimes or the small slimes and those slimes cannot actually hurt you you do Not get any slime bowls from any size of slime unless it’s the baby slimes and so you need to do is once you get to this stage ideally with a looting sword hit all of those slimes individually and of course the overall health and attack damage values of the Slime is just made Less and less the smaller it is however something really crazy is that although the slimes of course can only generate in the world in those large medium and small sizes they can with commands be summoned in at much larger sizes this can be done by summoning a slime and Then specifying its size so for instance a size of 25 would give us an incredibly deadly and Incredibly large slime as you can see right there these are literal giant slimes and they have hundreds and hundreds of HP health and attack damage now once you’ve finished a long night of Hunting slimes and you have quite a few slime bowls what are all the uses for slime balls inside of Minecraft well the first big use is crafting nine slime bowls into a slime block slime blocks are really cool and also useful items because they’re Inc incredibly unique in Their abilities so for example they can actually be used to make trampolines as you can see right here but as well as that they’re broken instantly so you can place down a whole bunch of slime blocks as let’s say scaffolding for a build project and then when you’re done simply Hold down left click whatever button you use to break things and you can just clear those all out instantly you can always craft slime blocks back into slime balls as well so they’re not like that permanently and if you take a piston and also put slime balls in the Crafting recipe on top of it in a shaped recipe as those will turn into sticky pistons now sticky pistons if powered by Redstone can push but also pull blocks with something like this right now the door is closed we flick the lever and that door is now open also because of The unique trampoline effect of the slime block you can use them to MLG jump just be aware if you press shift when you’re jumping on top of a slime block then its bouncing ability will not be there so for instance right here if we run and jump while crouching we’ll Actually land on that not jumping up and also also take fall damage if you have a ton of string from spider hunting and you place it inside of the crafting Grid in this shape with slime balls right here that will craft you leads so that’s four string and one slime ball into two Leads frogs which are found in the mangrove swamp as well as the standard swamp are bred with slime bowls as that’s their only breeding food and so if you want to get yourself a good supply of frogs in Minecraft it’s actually required that you have a good Source of slime balls as well funny enough two frogs will actually eat baby slimes converting each baby slime into one slime Bowl but they will not even attempt to eat the medium or large sized slime also very rarely from the sickly Panda you can have the drop of the Slime Bowl anyway that’s basically everything about slimes onto how to build this automatic slime farm now I invented the Slime firm design but there may be a couple ones that are fairly similar the basic way it works is that you’ll AFK all the way up at the top of this scaffolding underneath this small Platform firm protecting you from Phantoms and that’ll mean that Hostile Mobs Can Only spawn in this very small area right in the farm and so the only mob that can spawn in here are slimes and they’ll spawn into the game and then anything inside of this circular area Will be attracted towards that Iron Golem they’ll walk towards it and they’ll literally just run right directly into this fire and the drops on top of those campfires are collected by this Hopper mine cart and are unloaded into the storage chest right here and this Farm will generate well over 2 000 Slime balls an hour which I think is pretty good considering the fact of how easy it is and you don’t even have to find a slime chunk so the first step is to find any swamp biome that you can that just has a decently flat area in it So I think for this one we’re gonna build it in this wide open area here the more water there is around the better as it means there’s even less you have to place down torches for you’ll need a little bit under 24 stacks of slabs of Any single type you want you also need two stacks and eight of any building block you want that’s solid as well all set an additional four stocks Nate of any other building block you want but this has to be solid and I’m going to be using tinted glass for this just because It looks really cool and then we can actually observe the farm working but it’s definitely not a requirement you could also just use something like Cobblestone blocks if you want then two stacks of scaffolding 36 powered rails 13 standard rails 49 Soul Camp fires although you can also use magma blocks If you want they just don’t work quite as well or you could even use standard campfires then about two stacks of torches but it’s not that important about half a stack of redstone torches 16 fences a curved pumpkin and four blocks of iron for that one Iron Golem And by the way the Iron Golem does not get hurt there’s no need to replace that Iron Golem occasionally also an additional 13 slabs two chests a redstone repeater a mine cart with hopper a redstone comparator and another Hopper plus I would suggest some more chests and Hoppers if you want to expand The size of the storage system basically Mark out where the center of your farm will be then just go around it and bring break any of the oak trees that are here this shouldn’t take very long just clear out a couple of them so that basically our workspace is a little bit clearer And there we go that was pretty simple again just destroy a couple of the surrounding trees now once we’ve done that you want to get out a bunch of these slabs and also some scaffolding temporarily now start by basically placing the scaffolding upward and then Going on top of it looking at your F3 screen and finding the level where our y level is at 69 or on the targeted block the block blower feet is 68 and then we can place our first slabs we’ll place it right there and again the level should Be 69 68 at our feet here then from this block go to about 10 blocks this direction and then from this block we want to place three blocks this direction and three blocks this direction to start making a giant Circle then go down one and go three blocks This way then down one two blocks this way then we’re gonna go four blocks so one two three right here and then four and from there again we’ll go two so two like this and then three over and then again over one and we’ll do seven so That’s three four five six seven and we’ll do three again and then two basically just making this into a giant Circle where the pattern goes four blocks diagonally then two blocks this direction then three blocks again and then seven blocks along this long area and we now have this big circle that We’ve made this is going to be the main platform for the farm Now You’re Gonna Wanna Do Is from this one Edge start by making a giant X so we’re gonna do that by putting a line across the entire Center and that’ll cut this into two Equal halves then go over here and make a line from this center part as well and this entire space is now split into even quarters all right now from the center we want to break this Central piece and then also three pieces from The Edge so Like that this is going to be the chamber where the slimes fall down into and then from that we’re gonna make a square out of that that’s just going to be connecting these edges the actual Square in the center here will be seven by seven and the slabs outlining it Should be nine by nine and now that we’ve done that we need to completely fill these four quarters in with slabs and I found the easiest way of doing this is looking at the side and just placing them for a time like that and we should have these four quarters done in No time we’ve now filled in this entire space with slabs fairly quickly because this Farm is actually quite easy to build now get to the center of the farm and place down slabs beneath these to form just these blocks around the edge into full blocks keeping the rest of These as slabs once we’ve done that then put blocks three blocks lure around the edge here that’ll kind of make a wall here that’ll enclose in the slimes when they fall into the killing chamber now grab out of the chest the rails as well as the supplies for the Iron Golem Fences Redstone torches Soul campfires and the other pieces of redstone supplies that are here and place underneath here an entire layer of full blocks it’ll make ourselves a little exit on one side that on the edge here of the entrance you want to break this Block and also right next to it put down a double chest and we can break this one block here grab a hopper and have the hopper be facing into that chest then we can replace those blocks there and break this place down a powered rail here an Unpowered rail next to it then a line of powered rails two on the edge so that the rail can turn around make the powered rails go all the way over to this side place down to more unpowered rails and basically continue this on set the track sort of snakes along the Entire area here until eventually towards the edge it’ll actually just hit into this wall and stay there all of these are unpowered so we have to change that by basically going underneath here and digging out some of these grass blocks and underneath here place down Redstone torches and these Redstone Torches should power on all these rails except for this one right here we need to grab Redstone comparator and place it right here this means it’s reading this Hopper and it’s facing sort of away from it with those two dots next to it then have that go into a solid block and on Top of that solid block place a redstone repeater off of the redstone repeater Place Another solid block and underneath that place a redstone torch what this will do is that if we have items inside this Minecart with hopper and the hopper goes over here this rail is going to Turn off while it’s unloading but once it’s done unloading it’ll power on again putting it back onto the track to look for any more items to pick up then it’ll head back the other way and deposit them and so that’s the entire mine cart system there on top of this we want to Put an entire layer of Soul Camp fires literally every single block here should have a soul campfire on it now once we’ve done that take the remainder of blocks out of these chests you then want to go to the very center of these Soul campfires and place down a temporary Block on top of that temporary block place a non-temporary block and Surround that non-temporary block and fences and make the fences go one block higher so that we have this sort of little fenced-in area now this next step is very important as it’s what makes this Farm only of slime spawn in take Redstone torches and three blocks away from the edge here like that place down a redstone torch do this in the center here so we can look three blocks this way three blocks that way and from here here go place it right there so in the center of the square three blocks away From it once we’ve done that on every side then just make a grid of these shapes so you can see between here these are going to be six blocks apart then from this torch count one two three four five six blocks and place a torch there Doing the same thing here placing one in the corner there as well as one in the corner here and from the center ones counting over six blocks and placing them six blocks away from there once you’ve done that we just have to place a couple more in the corners so if you Look great here we’re naturally the next torch would go is actually not existing so just place it one block away like this so if we kind of walk in a straight line from this torch and a straight line from this torch it would go here just go One inwards from that and do the same thing over here placing a torch there and again looking at that torch and that torch placing it in this corner and continue doing this there should be about one in each corner until eventually this is what it looks like There’ll be torches in this grid pattern but there’ll be two torches on every Edge piece here that are off the pattern by one block and that’ll make it so that there’s only slimes that spawn here as it’ll be too bright for anything else to spawn but too dim to be spawn proofed From slimes now technically if we put an iron golem in the center now this Farm is literally done already however of course we want this to work daytime and night time or it’s not that functional of a farm so we’re gonna make it so it’s Dark in here start by off of the edge here placing a temporary block and placing tinted glass or literally any other solid block you want around the edge this will go one block away from the furthest edge of this slab Circle and then from there place a temporary Block again we’re going to place three blocks adjacent to that continuing to form this circle off of there and if you are building with it the nice thing about tinted glass is you can actually break it with your hand and it’ll still come back to you as tinted glass no silk Touch required then you now have this area fully surrounded in tinted glass and of course the final step to make this all be dark is on top of the tinted glass place a slab then Place Another slab off of that and break the original slab and Surround this entire area on Top here with those slabs you can also place these from below if you’d rather alright we’ve now covered the entire top of this in slabs and you want to make your way to approximately the center now go back down to the killing chamber here and just break the fences on these four Central areas as if they’re there when we place this down that’ll have it set the Iron Golem will not be able to get into its correct place and we’ll replace those in just a second now off the side of that fence place a temporary block Place a block of iron on top of that break that block then make that traditional Iron Golem T shape and on top of that place a curved pumpkin that should fall down into place and then we can just put these slabs all the way across the top here simply marking with A double slab the very central location and with your scaffolding you want to place a stack and 55 scaffolding right here this will make this go up to the right y level as two stacks of scaffolding would actually make it so that the entire firm is out of the area Where mobs can exist around the player but with a back in 55 scaffolding going up here it makes it to be just enough and above the highest piece of scaffolding we want to place two dirt temporary blocks then on top of that with those 13 extra slabs make a small Platform on top of here and now the farm is basically done all you have to do is be at the top of the farm and of course make sure that the mine cart and all that is working effectively and more or less what’s happening right now is the Only place in this entire world that mobs can exist are inside that area of our firm that’s dark but just light enough so the slimes can spawn however nothing else and if we jump down to the bottom of our farm right here and take a look we have a baby slime that spawned In and is running towards that Iron Golem but we do have one issue you may notice and underneath the farm here there is a skeleton that’s because we have night vision on but with it off you can notice it’s actually dark under here dark enough for mobs to spawn and so we Need to do is take those two stacks of torches you collected and simply go around the area to any place that has land and it’s not just of course water and just place down sparingly some torches something good to remember is that in Minecraft 1.18 and onwards no Standard Hostile Mobs can spawn unless the light level is literally zero and so by just running around here placing some torches we should be good also even when it turns nighttime you don’t have to place them very far out because only a very small area down here is loaded in And so just like that by placing down a couple torches underneath our farm we’ve made it way more efficient one other thing that some people might worry about is that there’d be caves underneath here that mobs could spawn in but there’s nothing to worry about because the area Where mobs can spawn actually stops very high up when we’re all the way in our AFK spot and indicates that are high up enough should be filled with water but either way that is the farm now done and this will now effectively get us over 2 000 slime balls an hour which I think is great for how simple it was and that is also basically the end of this slime guide as you can even see inside the farm here there’s a bunch of baby slimes that have been knocked down a bit by the Iron Golem and they’re running towards the center here getting killed on the soul camp fire and having their drops be collected by the hopper mine Curt and then put inside of the chest right here and we’ve literally already gotten
