I told you at the beginning it’s not true call the fake one out down below this week’s episode of the series that we call everything is all about ancient debris Minecraft’s rarest and maybe even best orb ever at this point the oldest debris is new ish it’s been two years

Since this was added to the game we got our very first taste of the cinnamon roll block and snapshot20w06a this was the first 1.16 snapshot and also and also with the addition of ancient debris in that ancient snapshot that made the stuff the first New Order come to Minecraft in eight years

Engine debris is unique for a lot of different reasons including the texture there’s nothing in the game that looks quite like ancient debris according to this tweet from Minecraft’s lead art director japa ancient debris is supposed to look like pressured metal plates or in other words sheets of compressed

Metal this stuff is old the name literally says it did we take a look at some of the more recent Minecraft structures for example the Bastion Remnant in the ancient city clearly there’s some kind of ancient story or something happened a long time ago according to an official blog post that

Can be found on the Minecraft website ancient debris is actually the remnants of all of the other netherride that used to exist in the nether the piglets presumably mined at all also according to the official Minecraft website you should smash like then subscribe to become enlightened the True full

Backstory of engine debrien didn’t turn netherride as well is very mysterious where did this stuff come from how was it made and where did it go if there was more was another ride or this series is all about answers now let’s see if we can try and answer some of those

Questions predictably if we’re looking for answers the best spot to start is the properties of this block so if you haven’t been looking at this block up until this point take a look at it now this is what ancient debris looks like you could totally see that like plated

Metal thing going on on the top of this block now this block is a hard block kind of like obsidian if you try and mine ancient debris with anything other than a diamond or netherride pickaxe uh disappointment it’s gonna be disappointing and it’s gonna take a long

Time so maybe just don’t do that diamond pickaxe are better for ancient debris even when you’re using a diamond pickaxe this stuff kind of mine slow too maybe just maybe you thought ah let’s speed things up with a little bit of Firepower some explosives maybe like TNT we will

Place the TNT down next to the ancient debris we wait a minute and then we find out that you can’t blow up ancient debris no matter how strong or powerful the explosion is this is probably a terrible idea in survival with no armor but uh oh yeah I mean hey not bad you

See big giant explosion and the age of debris it’s fine let’s keep that in mind for the mining section speaking of mining a small question you have what takes longer to mine obsidian or ancient debris well it’s not even closed uh obsidian definitely mines slower than ancient debris but don’t get

Me wrong this stuff still definitely Minds slow now no matter what when you mine the stuff enchantment with silk touch enchantment with fortune 3 no enchantment at all you will always get one single ancient debris block there’s no way to duplicate it oh no tragedy has

Struck in my world my friend Dan who absolutely reeks by the way just a terrible person has placed my ancient debris out over the lava ocean I should probably mine it so uh let’s just go ahead and get to mining I mined the ancient debris and then unfortunately

Very tragically it falls into the lava should have thought about that one but today my friends well today we are optimists everything is actually gonna be okay we throw the angel debris and lava and it doesn’t burn it just floats inside the lava same thing is gonna

Happen if I try and light this stuff on fire ancient debris will never burn it’s completely immune to fire damage so if you’re mining for this stuff down the The Depths and there’s lava all around you don’t really have to worry about the lava or at least the ancient debris

Doesn’t have to you definitely will have to worry there’s no denying obsidian is hard even the emotional wreck of crying obsidian it’s pretty hard too so is ancient debris though completely immune to explosions how about immune to Pistons no the answer is no ancient debris can easily be pushed by pistons

And actually in fact pushed and pulled by sticky pistons as well not so tough anymore are you huh on its own ancient debris is used in a total of zero crafting recipes none at all and that’s weird kind of weird Adventure debris used in zero crafting recipes well then

What do you do with it well as you may probably already know if you’ve been around in the community for a while ancient debris goes inside of a furnace throw agent debris inside of a furnace or maybe even more efficiently a blast furnace and it will smelt up into

Another ride scrap just like the netherride scrap item hints when you take another ride scrap out of a furnace you will get two experience every single time none other I’d scrap would be kind of our segue into another ride ingots and this video does not really actually the

Mining inside of the nether however if we fly around inside the nether for a little while across multiple biomes so we are going to see Zero ancient debris at all as long as everything works smoothly none of it will be exposed to air this wasn’t always the case though

At one point in time specifically Minecraft 1.17.1 there was a bug where ancient debris would sometimes generate attached to the fun gun inside of the nether so like mushrooms the fungi inside of the forest biomes so check out this chart this is the chart that I’m pulling from the Minecraft Wiki this

Chart is all about ancient debris generation as you can see there is a massive enormous Spike on the left side of the chart that means that essentially ancient debris generates more commonly down low but if you look closely at the chart clearly you can see that this stuff generates across the board

Throughout the entire nether that’s right you can find the ancient debris technically anywhere according to the wiki on Java currently there is an average of 1.65 pieces of engine debris for an entire Minecraft chunk though then that chunk keep in mind it goes from the top of the

Nether all the way down to the bottom of another so 1.65 on average not the best pick a block any block inside of another and there is going to be a 0.004 percentage chance that that block is ancient debris that’s not as rare as the odds of getting a blue Axolotl when

Breeding but it is pretty rare go ahead call me the most dedicated Minecraft Youtuber but for this video by hand with wooden pickaxes Alone look at what I’ve done I’ve prepared this giant cutaway for you yep that’s right I 100 legit no reason to believe that I just use

Commands and not wooden pickaxes nope it didn’t no not at all this is impressive all right so what I’ve done here is cleared out a four chunk area we have one chunk two chunk three chunk uh four chunk slightly over one edge of the chunk but still you you kind of get the

Point now this clearing goes from the top of the nether all the way down to the bottom of another also thought for the heck of it why not we’ll leave the other nether ores as well kind of cool so I left the nether gold door I love

The nether cords you can kind of see what’s going on with the generation so quick question where do you think the very first ancient de regenerative maybe like y20 and y15 maybe even y30 uh wrong you’re so wrong the very first ancient debris that I found generating in here

Was actually all the way up here now this spot right here this is going to be in the 80 range specifically y87 86 88ish that’s kind of crazy after this first batch of ancient debris though we go a long ways without anything until we hit this spot right here this is about

Y37 inside of another ancient debris after that I decided to leave all of these magma blocks we keep moving down then we really hit the jackpot so clearly you can see here that the most ancient debris in this four chunks is generating down low like over there over

There over there and over there but some ancient debris definitely does generate a little bit higher up too when this stuff is generating it will attempt to generate twice one of those attempts will be a blob of one to three ancient debris in between 8 to 22 and then

Another blob of a zero to two engine debris will generate anywhere from eight all the way up to 1 119 that means if you’re lucky you can find Vibe ancient debris and one chunk according to that chart that I showed you earlier you will find the most

Ancient debris generating at y level 15 in your world if we check out the current y level we will find that that definitely kind of checks out right in here where y14y15 range and there’s a couple batches of ancient debris including that one over there however I

Don’t think y15 is the best layer to mine at definitely not we’ll talk about that a little bit more later though when ancient debris tries to generate it can only replace certain blocks though magma blocks up here yep that’s the no-go if you have a patch of

Mega Bloks it’s safe to say there’s no ancient debris inside of it ancient debris will only replace another rack but salt and a Blackstone but did you know that mining isn’t the only way to find ancient debris it is technically 100 possible to create a survival world never craft a pickaxe and

Get ancient debris but how that’s a lie how do you pull it off uh well no it’s not a lie Pretty Simple insanely dangerous but pretty simple the Bastion Remnant if you can find a Bastion Remnant there is definitely a chance that you can find ancient of regenerating her ancient debris can

Generate inside of three different Bastion Remnant chests the specific best in chest that you’d be looking for are the generic chests the treasure chests and the hogland stable chests as well so the treasure chest is those are usually the chest with the most valuable loot the hogland Sable chests are gonna be

The chest that you can find inside of the hogland stables and then the generic chests those are gonna be chests that you can find like basically anywhere else inside of the bastions so check this out over here yet again ancient debris in the middle of the hogland

Stables at least I’m pretty sure those all good Stables uh admittedly if I make a Bastion episode gonna yeah gonna have to study up on that a little bit more they’re kind of confusing anyway always long story short Minecraft’s rarest ore can definitely be found inside of loot

Tables as well that’ll be a little bit dangerous to try and get it there though so that’s it or at least almost him let’s go ahead and wrap this week’s episode up of the everything series with a little bit of strategy talk ancient debris if you’re looking to find ancient

Debris I recommend using one of three methods one method is clearly way worse than the others though pickaxes it is technically true that you could definitely like old school old-fashioned branch mine for ancient debris you could go down deep in your world with the pickaxe and you know essentially like

You do in the Overworld Branch mining once you’ve made it super deep inside of your nether you could totally just start digging tunnels and in the nether with a pickaxe in hopes of finding agent debris but let’s talk about those odds again remember how infrequently ancient regenerates um yeah like on average 1.6

Per chunk how inhibition do you think this is going to be like mining a hallways through the Nether and and cutting through chunks like this um yeah the spoiler alert is gonna be really inefficient look not to call anyone out or anything but if you’ve ever seen a YouTuber just jump into The

Nether and start uh Branch mining in all of a sudden like one cut later finds a ton of ancient debris yeah uh yeah I I got really bad news for you like I I have I got some bad news for you look we’ll just say it doesn’t usually work

Like that you could definitely branch mine for ancient debris and if you’re gonna do that do that maybe like why 15 ish maybe why 14 in the nether uh the lower the better generally but I ancient debris mining with with the pickaxe the old-fashioned way yeah maybe not the best

So let’s level things up a little bit and make it way more exciting while we’re doing that too explosion specifically beds you know how if you use a better than other things don’t go well well yeah consider using it better than another repeatedly down low in your

World and just maybe things will go insanely well you could totally mine for ancient debris with explosives specifically beds it’s an amazing method definitely consider using it you won’t always get this lucky but yeah it’s pretty cool so this video is a little bit more about the facts and the quirks of ancient

Debris you know weird stuff like that but uh bed mining with Angel debris it’s great spoiler alert this is my favorite way to mine for ancient debris what y level should the explosions be at though the adventure debris generates most commonly a y-15 surely like maybe y-14s

Had the explosives off is the best right wrong so check this out it’s a small lava ocean but let’s go under the lava and check out the surface over here we have things a little bit higher at about wide 26 but down here in this part of

The ocean sits at about a y20 or so that’s pretty low let’s go ahead and find a different ocean though maybe one that’s uh slightly more open like this one right here if we go down to the bottom of this ocean we’re gonna find the same thing in 28 and then over here

In the lower parts of the ocean we’re gonna get 20s occasionally you will find Ravines to cut even deeper almost to bedrock but those are Ravines long story short explosions at y15 they could get a little close to the surface of the ocean by setting explosions off in that lower

Wide teen range you’ll still be exposing y15 but hopefully avoiding most of the lava ocean but beds aren’t the only explosive that will work TNT remember the TNT is a thing too what’s gonna happen is a chain reaction you’re gonna get one explosion and then another and

Another and another and another at least if you place them right compared to Beds which you can easily Farm automatically early on I mean it’ll be expensive but this method is probably a little bit more safe you’ll be able to light the explosions and then kind of just get out
