What Is The Minecraft 1.20 Update Going To Be?

The theme of Minecraft 1.20 will very likely be announced at Minecraft live but until then the question on everyone’s mind is what will Minecraft 1.20 be I’ll explain all the possible updates we could have and the most likely one starting right now so to properly determine what Minecraft 1.20

Will be we have to take a good look at the updates before it 1.16 released about two years ago now was the nether update and that more or less added some new biomes to the nether some new blocks surrounding those biomes and also the new structure of the pigland Bastion

Including some other Overworld and Netherworld mechanics next we have the caves and cliffs update this was split into the first part just added some new blocks and items some of which had some uses surrounding them like for instance the amethyst shards and some of them purely decorative like for instance the

Smooth Basalt but caves and cliffs part 2 also known as 1.18 took the caves and cliffs items and turn them into features of the world generation so for instance the new lash caves a massively different Overworld generation in fact really everything relating to Minecraft’s Overworld generation was overhauled also

Adding about eight new biomes if 1.16 was the nether update then certainly 1.17 and 1.18 were the Overworld update and then of course on to Minecraft 1.19 the newest update to Minecraft this added the mangrove swamp it was originally planned to add a lot more things as was the caves and cliffs

Update and of course this update added the ancient city as well as the warden expanding Minecraft into the horror game genre but also adding a lot of new building blocks and opportunities as well as larger structure to generate in the entire game of Minecraft but because of all the promised features that mojing

Hasn’t added and the strange portal Lake structure in the center of the ancient city the question on everyone’s mind is what will the next Minecraft update be well the first possibility is a combat update some people would say that 1.9 was a combat update so why would they

Need another one and that is something true but Jeb the chief creative officer for Mojang a couple years ago was working on some combat snapshots to deal with the differences in combat between bedrock and Java and also to come up with a system to hopefully avoid the issues that were encountered with the

1.9 combat update making a lot of players still play in 1.8 to this day now the one thing that is important to know is that there has not been a new one of these snapshots for almost two years however there was a tweet from a developer at Mojang hinting that they

May be having work start up again on these combat snapshots so it’s not impossible at all to imagine that we could have a combat update as 1.20 and some notable changes from these snapshots or the fact that you could attack while also having your Shield up so for instance what I’m doing right

Here simply is not possible in any the other version as well as that snowballs could be used as a weapon providing a massive amount of knockback and really effectively being able to get your opponents out of range which I think is kind of cool considering the fact the ability of throwing snowballs is

Completely useless at this stage in the game and because it have the same effect on players as it does to mobs you could really easily make actual working snowball fights inside of Minecraft but as well as that there were a couple parody changes in this version where you

Original caves and cliffs update and 1.17 1.18 and 1.19 have basically only been adding features that were promised for the 1.17 caves and cliffs update there’s even one more thing they said they were going to add to caves and cliffs but they never did and that is archeology now archeology was never

Officially added to the game but there are mods which simulate the exact way that it was represented at the Minecon live that announced it and as they showed in that more or less this would work with a system of brushes and you would find these ancient archaeological

Digs I would assume they would generate similarly to ruined portals where they’re fairly common and their loot is fairly basic but over a large number of them you could get a lot of stuff something they said at that Minecon live is that you have to be very careful to

Dig these up correctly or potentially you’d break whatever you’re trying to get out and that is how it works in this mod so for instance if we’re careless and just break this we’ll get nothing but if we carefully move our most while breaking this it’ll slowly go down a

Level and along with the archeology Mojang did not have it just be giving you Treasures the idea that Mojang had is that you’d be able to get ceramic shards as well as clay pots and so the idea would be you could craft raw clay pots and you could have them be

Undecorated which I’d assume would be very easy to get as Clay is rather frequent but you could get decorated ones by finding pieces of ancient Pottery maybe something that the villagers ancestors used to use right here what we would do is it would have our clay a part and then we would right

Click on it where we want our designs to be so for instance an Ender Dragon here maybe a diamond on the corner a little birch tree and the sun there and some Emerald patterns and then once we have the patterns and the positions we want we would put a campfire underneath it

Just like they showed in the Minecon live and that would eventually cook this into a clay pot that’s completely solidified with our designs there and if we carefully broke that Clay Pot which we didn’t hear we would then have that as an item that we could place down and

Use it to decorate our world with Mojang at that live stream never specified the exact use of this item other than decoration and collection but I’m sure it would probably serve some storage feature and so we could see all of these things if mojing decided to turn 1.20

Into an archeology update the only reason why this may not happen is because as it is they’ve already been criticized for having 1.17 1.18 and 1.19 just be adding 1.17 features and said have 1.20 also follow that Trend it might not necessarily be the best idea there’s almost always a vote at these

Mine cons and so they either decide between adding a new biome or a new mob in the mob ones they always say that the mobs that were not voted to be added in would never be added to the game but with the biome updates they said that they would update all the biomes

Eventually and of every single biome that appeared in the biome votes the only ones that never got updated so far are the desert the Savannah and the Mesa but we already know it would be in each of those the Mesa would feature the vulture as well as tumbleweeds and a

Cool type of cactus the desert would have palm trees certainly a new wood type as when they said there was going to be mangrove trees that was a new wood type and the Savannah would have ostriches and termites now I don’t know about you but having the Mesa desert and

Savannah All in One update makes a lot of sense as they’re all warm biomes so I wouldn’t doubt it all if in this update or the next one mojing decides to have a warm biomes update Maybe be the desert drought update or something like that

It’d be hard to say but I think overall this is certainly a big possibility for the next Minecraft update it would certainly introduce a lot of new features to the game also with the Savannah featuring The Baobab trees we would probably have two new wood types overall if these three things were added

And with the new Mangrove wood being so nice it would definitely be cool to have even more wood types added to the game certainly making those biomes more unique and even making the Savannah Biome have two unique wood types but now on to the update that almost everyone

Thinks 1.20 will be an end update this could certainly change Minecraft a lot and a massive number of players are considering this to be the most possible option but let’s take a look at how possible this actually is and what would a Minecraft 1.20 end update actually

Look like well for starters I’d say it’s fair to think that the end fight will certainly be revamped as of course everything in the end seems a little bit dead and Barren with there being not only very few block types but also things like just obsidian and just

Bedrock to feature very mythical things a lot of even the main end Island structures could certainly be overhauled and given a lot more quality this is the better end mod which does not update the look of the end gateways but let’s take a look and see what the Minecraft 1.20

End update would look like inside of this so greeted on the other side from that portal we see a flurry of new biomes around us this particular mod adds so many new items there are very likely more items added in this mod than there were in the base game of Minecraft

Before from a massive number of new items as well as that of foliage this certainly would take the end update to the next level a big question you may be wondering is why do a lot of people think that 1.20 will be an end update well the reason lies in the fact of

1.16’s nether update if 1.16 was that and 1.17 18 and 19 were the Overworld update then 1.20 being the end update would really only makes sense and something this mod really shows well is the fact that there being a lot of atmosphere throughout this I certainly

Think Mojang is trying to have there be more atmosphere inside of Minecraft and something like an end update that looks like this would do that I mean this entire mod is full of different structures and biomes and different areas which have a massive amount of immersion to them you’ll notice the base

Ground of everything in this mod is still the end blocks and more or less we have the same portal formations but they’re a massive number of beautiful plants and foliage in this mod in fact there are so many different types of plants and foliage in this mod it

Certainly adds a massive amount of new flowers and these flowers are even somewhat 3D looking really making it look like every single biome in this end is sort of in a different season the 1.20 could even feature some mythical and strange looking biomes like for instance this one which features these

Strange crystals personally I would say there’s absolutely no comparison between this and the current end Dimension seeing what’s possible really makes it seem like this Dimension should have an update and I almost guarantee f 1.20 is not the end update we will certainly see one very soon another reason why a lot

Of people think that we could have a beautiful and luxurious end update like this is the fact that Mojang said a while ago that they did eventually want to add a new dimension to the game but before they did that they would want to update all the other dimensions first to

Be full of life and different things to do as it also lays the groundwork for 1.21 or 1.22 to add the new dimension that you would go through the deep dark portal with and I’ll go more into that possibility as well as there is a chance they’ll skip updating an end as they

Might want to leave it looking Barren and would potentially go right on to adding in a new dimension I feel like just based on the dimensions we have already if Mojang does want to make the end stay Barren and sort of a really resource Dimension with the only actual

Use being the end City then I wouldn’t doubt it if a new dimension would look really similar to this and although the nether update had only added four more biomes but this mod adds way more than that it is still interesting to think that it is very possible to see

Something like this eventually appear inside of the end and this mod definitely features and adding most of the new biomes to be these sort of strange and fairy-like forests and I would really love something like that to be added either to the end or to a new

Dimension sort of like the entire thing being overgrown we’re just having really alien and bizarre looking places almost resembling real life sort of like this Forest which somewhat looks like what I would assume a birch Forest would in the fall but also having some alien Elements which really does make it a lot

Different but we’ll have to wait and see as unlike all the other options on this list we have literally no information from mojing that they would do this and because of all the things that they’ve said they’ll add already it is certainly not 100 chance that they would do this

As they may want to add the things that they previously promised to before let’s look into the possibility of mojing’s next update featuring a new dimension now 1.1 20 could be the update that adds a new dimension going through this portal in the ancient city of course

There’s no Dimension there right now I would say at this point there’s really no big theories on what exactly could be through that portal some people think it would lead to a skulk Dimension which I think is actually the furthest thing from what it could be the reason why is

Now that so many of the low down caves in Minecraft are infested with skulk it wouldn’t really make sense for there to be an entire biome also to this very common feature sort of like if instead of the ruined portal Mojang decided to add massive biomes in the Overworld that

Were only the nether Dimension or maybe if parts of the end Dimension leaked into the Overworld it wouldn’t really make much sense so I would assume if this is a portal which it definitely looks like it especially considering the fact that reinforced deep slate is a unique item that only generates in this

Portal shape and has a square on its pattern sort of resembling the square of potentially a portal I would say that the chance of this is not a portal is very low the real question is what is the chance of it being the 1.20 up date

And at this point we really have no info either way but there’s a reason why I don’t think it’ll be 1.20 but rather an update after that and that’s the fact that because they’ve already added in the ancient cities in the last update having another update that’s focused

Around the structure would be a little bit repetitive so they might want to mix it up first and the biggest reason why people believe this Theory and I think it’s a very valid theory is the fact this structure you’re looking at right here which is meant to resemble a mini

One of those Center structures and also here’s another one of these over here at one point in the game files this was referred to as a portal and basically these being the small version of that Central portal structure which is a massive leak which could potentially

Confirm that Mojang does want this to be a portal in the future there are also still a couple other things that Minecraft 1.20 could be so we’re going to take a look at those right now 1.20 could potentially be a birch forest update after all that was about 30

Percent of what 1.19 was supposed to be but just based on mojing’s response and the fact that the Birch forest update really would have only featured a couple things more or less Fallen logs and probably a better texture for that with Fallen logs also being featured in Java

A couple flowers and better generation I can’t see an update that is fully focused on the Birch Forest to be coming in 1.20 however I wouldn’t doubt it if mojing does decide in one snapshot or two just to quickly add in a couple flower types and some better generation

To spruce up the birch as well as the old growth Birch Forest a bit without having to dedicate too much of an update to it as of course updating this biome would sort of be old news and could definitely kill some of the hype around the new update and although there are a

Couple other things that 1.20 could be one other thing that I personally consider could be likely is a full parody update between the Bedrock version of Minecraft and the Java version of Minecraft that doesn’t mean no difference between the two versions but that does mean things like the

Advanced uses of The Cauldron to be in Java Edition as Wells Bedrock Edition also Bedrock Edition getting Java edition’s tip duros as of course having tip duros is incredibly useful and definitely adds a lot to combat and even PVE or fighting mobs another really big thing that I think Java Edition is

Missing that Bedrock Edition certainly has is highly customizable and high quality armor stands for instance those armor stands in Bedrock Edition can hold an item in their hand but as well as that you can use your place or right-click button while crouching and that can move the position that the

Armor stand is in from poses which shows you in this feature was added like dabbing the things like running dancing holding an item and more certainly these high quality armor stands are a highlight of the Bedrock Edition version and I think just having every single feature of java being in Bedrock and

Every Bedrock feature to be in Java would be great especially features to help out the technical Bedrock community so for instance things like an F3 menu in Bedrock Edition although Purity has slowly been being worked on like for instance spectator mode being in beta for Bedrock Edition I think a singular

Update which has the main focus of adding every single feature between versions and also having all the different statistics for different things be the same could be useful not only for all players but also for people trying to look up information about the game they wouldn’t need to wonder is

This for Bedrock or Java because although the versions would still have a couple technical differences every single statistic around how different items work and all the features in the game would be exactly the same at this point my current prediction is that Minecraft 1.20 will be the end update
