So i haven’t really spoken about copper blocks on the channel and that’s because it’s more of a decorative block than anything but i’m on snapshot 21 w11a and there are a lot of updates to copper and lightning rods and everything else in between and i’ll be experimenting a Lot of those on twitch as well tonight so if i go into mobile options and i create a super flat world and all i do is create one layer of copper blocks and i create it you’re going to notice some strange patterns arise because of the way copper oxidizes in This game now you’ll notice that this entire world is now copper and nothing is going to happen yet because oxidation takes a very long time so one way you can speed it up is with the game rule random tick speed nothing is going to happen yet you might notice some blocks oxidizing But not a lot now a lot of you have also suggested that rain will speed up this process i have not confirmed this i don’t even know if this is actually a thing so as time passes oxidation takes effect so a lot of these blocks become exposed or lightly weathered And then the next stage is weathered and then the final stage is oxidized in this update you can now use axes to scrape it off um and then it’s gonna oxidize again because it’s all really quick now so again as i fly up there are no more copper blocks they’re all gonna be Weathered so everything begins to spread very fast so as i fly across you’ll notice some interesting patterns arise now it’s a massive interaction between chunk loading and the blocks that are neighboring each other as you’ll notice these guys take a very long time because apparently according to a lot of The tech side of minecraft the oxidation is slower when you have a lot of neighboring blocks of copper the moment they oxidize the faster they spread so you can see now it’s just really really quick but the ones over there are incredibly slow um it’s all about what’s loaded and what Isn’t you can see the chunk borders over here because i failed to load this area you can see right there this is all just from render distance but the spreading pattern is really similar to grass it’s really satisfying uh but it’s just a lot slower so the Waxing is all done with honeycombs now so you can use honeycombs to right-click a copper block like this one for example and you’ll notice and i’ll just mark this so this one will never oxidize because i’ve right clicked it with a honeycomb and i can scrape off the ones Neighboring it doesn’t really matter this block will never oxidize you can also create invisible ink because you can now wax these blocks and so the ones which reveal themselves are the ones which are waxed look at that everything is now fully oxidized except for that guy so here’s another one i Created before i started recording and you can see a lot of this spread is very non-linear it’s very curved and uh certain blocks which oxidize quicker than others suddenly just have these blots and they will slowly merge together and finally what i want to show you is how lightning rods interact with this Box of oxidized copper so i have a couple of command blocks and i’m going to activate them and now you can see exactly how this interacts with oxidation so i’ve got lightning rods here but i don’t have to sum the lightning bolts when it’s raining or with its thunderstorm the lightning rods will Attract a lot of it i’m assuming it’s going to create a sphere which i’m going to try out on stream today um because it seems like it’s a circular area of effect but if i run this for a while other blocks seem to be affected too so there might be some Random aspect to it i don’t know but copper is certainly a very interesting block in the game it’s one that stores a lot of value so if you have a lot of this happening on your server there might be some lag i don’t know but we’ll have to wait and see with uh 1.17 go to twitch.tv slash phoenix live if you’d like to follow the updates as they come out otherwise take care You Video Information
