Minecraft youtubers through thick and through thin many of them have been around for quite some time now you see when a game is over 10 years old it tends to have a rich history on youtube especially when that game is as popular as minecraft and because of that there are many Channels on youtube which have been around since the game’s inception and when looking back it creates a wave of nostalgia and memories but minecraft has had its fair share of ups and downs as we’ll get into and not all channels made it through some youtubers dropped off some changed their style of content Some are still here and some well just disappeared welcome back to part three of our series where we discuss and talk about some old minecraft youtubers and where they are today if you’ve watched the previous two parts and you would know that not all minecraft youtubers we have Cherished in our memories managed to make it through not all of them managed to come out alive in the previous two videos we talked about nine youtubers who are very popular but there are many more with even more interesting stories to cover you see during 2015 and 2016 minecraft Had a massive dip in popularity the game was the most popular in the world for 2-3 years at this point and it hit rock bottom for the first time since 2011. the game dropped off so much in popularity due to a variety of reasons such as disliked updates Disinterest in the game and just general burnout from it during this period the views on almost all minecraft youtube channels saw a steady decline and some youtubers decide to try uploading other content or games or just do other things but then in early 2019 with newly released updates such as 1.14 and General interest in the game increasing again minecraft saw a massive resurgence in popularity but the minecraft youtubers who made content with the game’s resurgence were not necessarily the same ones who created memories for us all those years ago so who made it out to the other side who is still around today Well let’s get right into it the first youtuber we’re going to talk about today is one which raised so much popularity alongside another fellow youtuber stampy idealistic squid created his channel on march the 11th 2011 however the earliest upload which is available on his channel is a video Titled skyrim meet my pet dragon which was uploaded in june of 2012. a short video only one minute in length it’s a clip of a dragon killing a guard he will continue to upload other short funny or cool clips and highlights from games such as modern warfare 3 and black ops just To share these cool moments but then on june 26 2012 about two weeks after his first upload he decided to do a minecraft let’s play or rather let’s build as he titled it where he showcases how to build a mud castle which is just a castle made from dirt anyways This was split into four parts and at the time it was okay i guess but definitely nothing revolutionary it seemed he enjoyed doing the videos though because not long after he would continue doing more minecraft build showcases and other tutorials eventually hitting 100 subscribers and then suddenly his minecraft videos started Gaining subtraction likely because they were some of the first videos created for the xbox 360 version released not too long before he started uploading as you kept uploading more and more minecraft his views began increasing and increasing going from 80 000 monthly channel views in september Of 2012 all the way up to 400 000 by the next year he started gaining thousands if not more subscribers a month so where did this growth come from well in early 2013 he began frequently collaborating and uploading with another small youtuber who did videos on the Xbox version of the game as well named stampy now i’m sure you all know who stampy is in fact he was featured in my second video on this topic at the time his channel was quite small but as they collaborated they began growing faster together and by the end Of 2013 ibalistic squid was getting around 30 million monthly channel views gaining tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of subscribers every month and his growth did not stop but before we get into that consider subscribing if you haven’t already as it really helps me out No pressure though anyways as we move into 2014 he began getting 80 million monthly views getting upwards of 150 000 subscribers every month and while he did see a slight decrease later that year he would also hit 2 million subscribers around this time he picked things back up in early 2015 but unfortunately Things didn’t continue to go so smoothly as we continue into 2015 minecraft’s popularity began on a downwards trend and mirroring it many minecraft channels including squids saw significant decreases in viewership not only that but elfa lee who was a common feature in not only squids but also stampy’s videos got involved in Some nasty allegations and drama and due to this he stopped playing with stampy and squid which left many younger viewers at the time confused and angry this also contributed to his channel’s slow but steady decline through 2016. by mid-2017 he was getting sometimes as low as 11 000 subscribers a month still Very impressive but substantially less than the upwards of 150 000 he was getting two years prior and then in 2018 things just got worse and worse he went from getting upwards of 30 million monthly views in 2017 to getting only around 10 million views throughout 2018. but early 2019 he began losing Subscribers every month with his monthly views still on a downwards trend he experimented with other games around this time and for a while was doing a variety of different content but it didn’t seem successful as by late 2020 he was only averaging around 3 million monthly channel views often losing subscribers regularly and It seemed that he hadn’t managed to survive minecraft’s downfall in 2015. but all things considered he still uploads often these days and has recently started doing a lot of minecraft again and while his video performance isn’t as consistent he still manages to get upwards of a hundred thousand views of video In fact recently he has begun gaining subscribers again and still seems to enjoy doing youtube so things aren’t all bad for squid the next channel we’re going to talk about today is the original york’s cars channel the channel was created by lewis or blue zephos as he was known back then On july the 10th 2008 as he stated later on that his reason for creating the channel was to share simon or honeydew with the world their first upload would be of the game world of warcraft specifically tutorial videos but not long after they started doing more entertaining and humorous content For the first two years of their channel they did a variety of games from borderlands to fallout and of course world of warcraft but it wouldn’t be until late december of 2010 where they would upload their first ever minecraft video the first episode of their let’s play which currently sits At over 18 million views they will continue their minecraft series and started gaining a lot of traction often getting anywhere from two to three thousand subscribers a day and getting well over a million channel views daily which was absolutely insane for the time you see one thing that really made their Channel stand out besides the phenomenal chemistry between lewis and simon was the shift to scripted let’s plays where they would have other characters join in and role-play along this eventually would lead them to begin one of their most famous series shadow of israel which was quite literally groundbreaking At the time in terms of characters storyline and map design and their hard work paid off because their channel skyrocketed during 2011 and by 2012 they already had over 1 million subscribers and was still growing rapidly continuing into 2013 and with their many popular series such as tekker and Moonquest their growth did not stop getting upwards of 60 million monthly channel views and gaining upwards of 300 000 subscribers a month they were some of the most well-known and most recognizable youtubers at the time but starting in 2014 things began to slow down you see by 2014 they’d hit 7.2 million subscribers And if you look at their subscriber count today you would see they have actually less than that over six years later while their monthly views remain strong throughout most of 2014 with them still getting around 50 million views their monthly subscriber count began to drop and moving into 2015 And 2016 their monthly views had halved going down to around 25 million with them often losing subscribers every month and then into 2017 things just kept getting worse and worse as their view count dwindled especially so in early 2018 they had started uploading less and less minecraft around 2016 after the game Took a massive hit in popularity and simon would begin taking lengthy breaks due to health issues which while understandable as health takes priority definitely hurt the channel a bit simon was the audience’s favorite personality and they missed seeing him in 2018 minecraft became a rarer feature on their channel with them primarily Switching to gary’s mod and trouble in terrace town while also focusing on streaming and other bigger yogscast events a lot of their beloved series also never got conclusions leaving many fans with a bitter taste in their mouth by 2019 their view counts were at an all-time low This will continue into 2020. and as i mentioned they currently have less subscribers than they did six years ago and this continues to decrease but they still upload often and still seem to enjoy what they do and it’s not like they don’t have an audience they still average around 10 to 15 million monthly views which is very impressive just not as much so when compared to the upwards of 60 million they used to get they also stream very often and the yearly christmas event always manages to bring a smile to the face of viewers and raise much money for charity So while they are no longer the titans on youtube that they once were they are still ever present and enjoy making videos the next youtuber or should i say youtubers on our list are the dynamic duo it’s jerry and harry initially creating their channel in november of 2010 their first upload Wouldn’t be until a few months later in march of 2011 a short video tutorial showcasing how to make a tnt canon now this canon was relatively advanced for the time displaying their decent knowledge of the game they would do some random unusual minecraft content at the time such as Random chase scenes fun ways to kill players and just other short films or skits all of which were once again pretty ahead of their time but their growth was relatively gradual and by the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 they had only accumulated 2 000 subscribers however things would begin to change Only a few months later in mid-2012 when they would start getting some serious traffic to their channel they started doing a lot of minecraft trolling videos and by late 2012 they’d already hit 100 000 subscribers and as we enter 2013 their growth only continued going from 180 000 subscribers at the Beginning of the year to over 700 000 by the end of the year often getting anywhere from 5 to 10 million monthly channel views as we move into 2014 they’ll continue to do various skits short videos and trolling videos with some of the most popular such as Fart battle getting over 7 million views as of today and while they still got substantial views throughout 2014 their channel began on a downwards trend going from gaining upwards of 60 000 subscribers a month in 2013 to only around 10 to 15 000 in 2014. then 2015 was one of their Worst yet with their monthly views plummeting to only around 2 million and they began gaining only a few thousand subscribers every month so what happened well around this time minecraft was decreasing in popularity and this would have led to decreased interest in their channel but maybe some of their viewers also got A bit older and no longer had an interest in funny minecraft skits and trolling videos also around this time they began their second channel jerry vs harry which would have split their time substantially and you could tell by late 2015 they were only uploading around one video a Month and as we all know if a youtube channel slows down with their uploads it can have negative repercussions on the channel especially so for channels with primarily younger audiences throughout 2016 their channel continued to gradually decline most likely due to their decreased amount of uploads but Later that same year they had a massive success with a video titled minecraft vs real life which currently has over 15 million views and as you can see their channel stats reflect that while this was successful at first they ended up milking the crap out of The series and this is where the real downfall began and even they acknowledged that in one of their own videos as you can see on their first minecraft vs real life video some commenters stated that it was nostalgic in a bad way because they milked this series hard They made 66 parts to the series according to their video titles and thumbnails but many of them seemed to have been removed or privated and towards the end of the series the view count had gone from 15 million to only 85 000 azures just got bored of this content They would revamp the series and continue doing minecraft vs real life all the way up to july of 2020 but by then they’d already lost many of their viewers and by 2018 they were actually losing subs for a few months and even after having more success with The series in 2019 their fans no longer seem loyal at throughout the end of 2019 and 2020 they were only averaging between one to three million monthly views that being said they still upload every few months to their main channel but it seems their primary focus has shifted to Their gerryverseharry channel where they still upload daily content with varying success and of course they still run their server which does quite well arguably the oldest minecraft youtuber on this list and the last channel we’re gonna talk about today who has been uploading primarily minecraft content for over a decade now Etho has been around since the early days of the game beginning his channel in 2008 he would first upload minecraft in late 2010. his first upload was short contraption tutorials displaying cool mechanics and builds he had invented at the time a lot of these were relatively unique and advanced and as Such he built up a reputation for being a knowledgeable minecraft player to this day some of these contraptions such as the eats road and redstone ticker which was the first redstone clock formed the basis of complex and more advanced builds however he was nowhere near as popular back then with his best videos Accumulating only a few thousand views his famous let’s play called let’s play minecraft began later in december of 2010. using his advanced skills and knowledge of the game he’d often build many contraptions which are unheard of at the time and began accumulating a larger following in 2011 he would hit 10 000 Subscribers and in early 2012 he hit 100 000. his let’s play series will continue into 2012 laughter meeting and befriending some other small youtubers such as doc m77 he would join the up and coming mind crack smp this would further his channel’s growth and as him and minecraft became more Popular his channel really began to grow in 2013 he began gaining upwards of 50 000 subscribers a month with his channel averaging tens of millions of monthly views in late 2013 his channel peaked and he gained 93 000 subscribers and accumulated 16 million channel views that month but starting in late 2013 and 2014 his channel began to slow down this will continue into 2015 and then in 2016 he actually began to lose subscribers some days one month he only managed to gain 239 subs and his monthly views had dipped below 10 million by 2017 his channel was at an all-time Low but before we go any further why did this channel drop off so much well for etho at least with minecraft becoming less popular due to general disinterest from not only viewers but from other members his channel growth naturally slowed down but in addition minecraft minigames were a popular thing At the time and many other youtubers such as sky does minecraft beijing canadian and sundi had taken the platform by storm and probably overshadowed him you see throughout this entire time ether hadn’t changed his style of content he uploaded similar videos with similar non-clickbait thumbnails and titles at similar frequency He didn’t change that’s why he couldn’t keep up with these other youtubers at the time but while many of the other youtubers began falling in popularity during 2015 and 2016 ethos stuck it through never losing sight of what made his channel popular in the first place his loyal fan base also helped always Making sure to watch his let’s plays and during 2018 while his channel growth elijah remained stagnant probably due to his lack of uploads and disinterest in the game as we move into 2019 with minecraft’s resurgence in popularity and new updates he gained a newfound interest uploading more frequently and also Rejoining hermitcraft his channel began getting more views again and by mid-2019 his monthly channel views had climbed back over 5 million alongside his increased interest in the game he rejoined hermitcraft in season 7 and this massively boosted his channel tripling his views in much and letting him tens of thousands of subscribers These days his videos comfortably get hundreds of thousands of views and his loyal fan base which pulled him through his lower periods have still stuck around and continue to be one of the most loyal audiences on the platform and that’s about it for today’s video now we didn’t cover every minecraft Youtuber i’m sure there is some i missed so be sure to comment down below if you want me to do another video talking about some other youtubers and subscribe while you’re down there make sure to go
