Hello I’m a px weekend and this store Sunday is gonna be a controversial one because we’re checking out the fateful text pack which released earlier on the week for 1314 mine coins that’s eight dollars if you live in America earlier than the UK it’s six pounds 69 which Actually equates to about nine US dollars so as you can imagine something which was free on job edition releasing on bedrock for nine or eight dollars it’s something which has caused a lot of controversy and in this case I think it’s one of the biggest examples of controversy that’s well deserved a lot Of things that are controversial online I kind of made up by various different places just because it’s fun to complain about but in this case it’s a really well deserved piece of controversy that we’ve really should dive to the bottom up because it is an interesting one So let’s start right now by talking about the backstory of the Minecraft Marketplace just in case you don’t know Minecraft bedrock does have a store bones the game but it only sells you know other people’s content basically if you want to sell people your texture pack your maps or your skin packs you Can do so through the marketplace and although Microsoft takes a small cut I think it’s about thirty percent most of the money goes to the developer and it’s a way for people who work full-time making minecraft maps or texture packs or skins can make a little bit money It’s entirely optional you can still download all those things outside the game and it’s something where although it’s you know annoying when they over promoter the idea for existing is good because it means many texture pack or you know like for instance world craters can’t get by it by making the stub so The reason this gets controversial when it comes to the $8 texture pack is because this is the most expensive texture pack they’ve ever made available on the store which is kind of interesting by itself right like okay so every other text pack charge is less Than a thousand here we are at one three forty eight to nine US dollars you know that’s interesting by itself but then when we look into the explanation on why this is where things get a little bit rough because the creator of the pack his name is ex mr. visi decided to post This on reddit and then his explanation as to why the price is so big as he puts ER is because he can’t see the price in mind coins and dollars before release it was set automatically this is not true one because of the fact that literally No other tech spec has done that so they’re automatically set and then minecraft just decided to charge more for this one even more than for BD craft and much you know more famous texture packs okay that’s kind of interesting by itself this is not true every minecraft developing you ever Speak to again I I’m sure even minecraft themselves will confirm they don’t set the prices for you you decide what your stuff is worth they give you different tiers that you can decide and highest here is the one he’s gone for but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t get To see it he just decided you know if we’re charging why not charge the most expensive price and that’s you know it’s a it’s a fine decision to make like people can decide to price things at what they want but the reason I find this controversial is because the Established price was obviously free on Java and there are free clones a bit on bedrock you can download if you want to so if pro tip if you think that’s too much easy way you can just download a you know Java port if you really want to But the idea is like okay so if you want to pay a few dollars and then get free updates and you want to get some you know support for the developer etc etc then that’d be a great thing but instead of they’re you know doing it that way Instead he sets it to the max price lays about it being the max price and then he implies that the office of the sites they’ll give the downloads for free are waiting to steal for their own earnings and benefits so ok that’s a little bit of a rough start also looking at the Text pack again people is actually quite 1 under Java it’s well regarded as a PvP texture pack but then we look at it and it’s like ok so on the surface it doesn’t look so great but again people like at PvP because it’s faithful to the original a you like that reference there But what I thought was a little what made this even rough is like okay this is the most expensive option it’s the most premium option on the store but then the the wording for it is really really roughly put together official texture pack faithful is in the Microsoft Store thank you for telling me that it’s in the store while I’m in the store about to buy it I appreciate that mr. busy and that says make your world brighter and clearer and also enjoy the beauty of nature and fauna that you’ve never seen before so yeah just to Mention right here like one you can’t start a census and that’s not correct grammar two it has the needless thing in there and I get like maybe you’re a non-native English speaker but the idea that like your first draft was put right through the store right from the Approved process somehow you claimed not to have known about the price it just seems like if you want to charge a premium price you should live some poor premium product because here’s the deal there are actually groups of people who will pay for text packs even though they Are available free elsewhere there are people on consoles by Xbox and switch where it’s really hard to get you know them via external sources there are people who want to just get the instant updates and know that when 1.14 comes out they’ll have the new textures when 1.15 comes out the new textures will be built into the pack there are people like that who want the updates the support and there are people who think yeah I really like this thing I want to support the person who made it I fall in skachko I like supporting people who make really Good really impressive things you know both when it comes to like you know online media when it comes to mind there’s a lot of things I will buy and be happy buying because it’s good to support things you like this is wife sites like patron excess this is why YouTube has the join button so you can support things in that way but what you’re basically doing is saying people who want to support you yeah they have to pay eight dollars more than anything else people who you know literally can’t buy the text to get the text back Elsewhere eight dollars or you don’t get to buy it and I just feel like it’s almost like extorting and taking advantage of people who do want to be great and do want to help you out which is why yeah protip mister busy if you are watching this video if you are Going to you know do something like this you should come up with some justification for the much higher price instead of just you know releasing it literally just porting it over and saying well it’s here now you can download it if you want to and then lying about the price all those things Together like deception combined with you know the the kind of extortion combined with the rough and not so well put together package is why a lot of people are finding this to be something they don’t like however on store Sunday we don’t just like look at the controversy instead we Check out the map itself so let’s go download faithful right now and let’s see what it’s all about let’s see if it’s worth eight dollars which I find it’s gonna be a hard sell but you know I I’m willing to give this a try because here’s the thing the person behind it Must be talented they made a very popular absurdly popular tech pack I’m sure they’re really great what they do and that’s all I’m excited to check it out it’s just all the other things that make me a little bit sour as we dive right into this so this is my texture Pack review for the faithful texture pack it’s actually 32x so you’ll notice immediately that everything has a slightly higher quality but yeah it’s very deliberately designed to look super like the original you can see how even though things are clearly different swords don’t look like this and dogs don’t look like that They still keep their based design just with a few small embellishments here and there like look at that dog knows what a cute little dog knows that is although looking around the rest of the map and the rest of everything else you’ll see how it’s not just you know like you know Tiny changes here and there it’s tiny changes to the vast majority of different things and kiss curse about what I mean by its that it means that pretty much every single block will have these you know extra changes to make them 32 X to give them a high quality And to make things look faithful to the original while still having some impressive improvements like right here look at the cow again it’s just what if minecraft was designed to be 32x Biturbo and I think in this regard in terms of like its default except that’s 2x I think it does A better job than the you know the Biddy crafts natural version even though that’s clearly a competitor takes back to this one this one does a much better job in terms of how it looks this wood looks really good for instance this door looks really good but it doesn’t yet at The same time it doesn’t alienate any players who just play the default I’m sure some of you right now like women at things look a little bit different but I think for a lot of players if you’re not too familiar with Minecraft or you know like you’re just thrown into a video if You solve this on so NASA screen you’d be able to pick it up and instantly get used to things you might find things a bit bizarre like what’s that little bar doing underneath my my cross for instance you know it’s not meant to be like the the combat recharge meter from 1.9 who knows for sure you know there’s things like that that you might question but besides that otherwise everything does look pretty great so anyway in case your sister how we do this hatchback reviews I tried to show off the you know three major parts any text pack there is Of course the overworld and how your existing builds will kind of work within a texture pack so again you can see because it’s faithful everything will work really really wonderfully one of the biggest categories the most important thing about hex pack to me is being able to use it on worlds that you Intend to use even an other text packs or in vanilla because that’s where you built them and this texture pack passes that with flying colors seriously like look at any single block and you won’t even notice changes if you don’t want to you can only really see them if you’re Looking for them except when it comes to the the hotbar difference like that where again it’s in your face so you see it much better but like until you get close to the dirt you don’t really start to realize that like oh that’s some amazing duck you can just see it as the Dirt block your brain is at least for my brain maybe I’m just were some text packs but your brain will map the Minecraft default you know block to the new Faithful block in a much easier way and I think that’s why a lot of people like this for PvP because every PvP Experience on any server is gonna be designed around vanilla because that’s how 90 plus percent of players are playing on servers if you want to get the best experience where everything’s clear visible but yet you like texture packs you like playing with 32x this might just be for you and for good Examples of that here we are on the nether it’s a dangerous situation you know if you’re here then you’re gonna be in the situation right well like I’ve got a point though ever it’s gonna be a scary time but if you’re right here trying to do this you Can see how like oh yeah I’m still fully in control I feel great I feel fine I’m not feeling you know worried about like how am I gonna do this it’s scary etc you just you feel in control which is how you generally want to feel in these Sorts of situations although I got hit by it with Scott them twice so maybe my words don’t match up with what happened but yes so what we’re in the never this is our second key part reviews I think that never looks pretty darn great because again the never rank has really Got this like bloody texture like it’s actually got some blood spatters I think that’s meant to be on there well again looking kind of like in every cobblestone I think it significantly Pru improved over default but again because they they don’t improve it too much the level where it looks like too awfully Amazing it’s like okay so pretty solid texture pack in that regard does a good job at keeping never act consistent while also not ruining it what is there above that but you see this random little it’s gone now what what is that it is that my shadow what why is it Following me what okay you know this is a weird visual glitch but has anyone ever seen this glitch before what is it is that my shadow I’m gonna I’m gonna have to go find that out now it’s a zombie pigman that just happened to be following my movements almost perfectly Huh what all weird little coincidence maybe we should lemon you know Olivette there you go glad to help you buddy but yet looking around the rest of the nether you can see how right here again gasps exactly clear gravel example place Sol San never wats for instance it’s all very very Easy to see very easy to map but yet in the same way despite the fact that it’s clear in vanilla if you wanted to make a house mint I think making a house from this earned the rank would be much more useful I think making a house from this One with glowstone would be much better for you this fall of never walk could really be used for different other things Adam that’s one of the wonders off this also look at the nether portal texture that’s really quite wonderful so the final category we usually go for is You know kind of the underground experience because a lot of the time you need to go caving this is less true because you know we haven’t had a real update to caving in quite some time and more and more for things you can do by Caving gum up by the surface but it is worth mentioning that sometimes you’re gonna want to go underground and how easily can you you know do underground mining or underground excavating or make a you know giant farm down here how easy is that to do and the simple answer Based on my immediate impression is like actually pretty good right like pretty easy everything you know that that clarity in that clinic really stays true here as well and I think it does so while also having some subtle improvements some also downsides in my opinion like I would say the the Stone block itself actually looks a little bit worse because of the wage like it almost looks a bit like an Arctic tiger PacSun like it’s camouflage but yet it looks really good when it’s combined with certain stunts I really you know I never find it I’d be able to Say this but I really like the way cobblestone works I really like the way gravel of all textures works because it actually does the job that people use as people do this anyway but it kind of fits in with a stone and works like a little pathway I feel like I’m being led Along the pathway which is something that you don’t get with default gravel you just get this mess that people use like it’s a pathway and I really think that’s quite wondrous and yeah you can see how like if we go down anything tunnels we’re gonna have a perfectly fine perfectly great experience so Faithful as a text pack which really actually works quite ideally when it comes to your existing survival worlds in making any texture pack as long as that text pack also works with vanilla you’re gonna have a good time in this one everything and anything should just work pretty perfectly pretty great even My little spider spawner right here look how spooky that spawner is by the way it’s got like a thing on the edge right there but yes so I really like a lot of the improvs they made here but because this has a reputation as a PvP texture Pack I feel like we should give that a little bit of a dive so let’s check out sky wars on the coop craft so yeah I really like sky walls I play a bunch of it with the vanilla texture pack 99.99% at the time mostly because like global Resources are something I just don’t use often and mostly because and partly because of the fact that I just don’t really like many text packs but today we’re gonna try out the fate protection pack and we’re gonna see if we can win that’s right we’re gonna tell the entire Good or badness of a entire texture pack based on whether or not I win a game of sky wars is that a fair way to do that no but I mean is it fair to charge $8 for a texture pack that was otherwise free I mean maybe answer those questions Is uh is a similar one you could argue so this guy I think you spots them over here a new shrink thing about texture packs that you never really realize do you think about it is the fact that Tex packs also a plight of people which means that this guy has a Texture pack collar for instance oh he did I mean he’s dead now oh no you don’t know he does but yeah the UM honestly Oh even though the idea of playing in a texture pack is a little bit alien still it’s still something that I Oh it is something I don’t usually Recommend again there’s a lot of disadvantages and like I mean like if you’re playing because you want to win and I’m not saying that like play competitively but if you playing because you enjoy the idea of game wins or stats or whatever various different reasons you’re playing on servers usually Vanilla’s can be better for you that’s why most people do plain vanilla but if you’re not playing vanilla especially like this guy over there that’s flying in the background wait you see him like just he’s flown down for some reason I think is gonna die because was flying Yeah if you look at him down there that guy for instance he’s not playing vanilla but most people at least I assume not but most people you know they are because that’s just how these things go I think I think the guy crouched all The way to the Mall of the world so one for toy cat zero for hackers I think you’ll find see this was just too easy oh no no I’ve said that too early I’ve said it too early now I gained out now this is too easy Oh no no no no okay okay now wait now we can set that was too easy protip don’t say that was easy before you’ve actually done the thing that you’ve caught easy because now the thing that you’re gonna struggle to do you know if you fail it then you failed an Easy thing and if you’ve done it then you’ve just completed an easy task that you’re definitely always gonna do but yeah even though I think a lot of people might find this to be a lack loss the texture pack for playing vanilla because maybe you want things to be crazy Excitingly changed to you know challenge your building skills I think that PvP this is a really great texture pack I think the reputation is well-deserved because again it the sword’s feel cooler they feel a lot better but they really only changed the weapons and in such a way that they don’t feel unidentifiable The axe still looks like an X you know it’s the Minecraft by an axe but it feels a lot better it feels sharper and I’m sure there’s some amount of the you know like the placebo effect here where because you think that you’ve got a more damaging axe you’re gonna somehow kill People more and yeah the finish of our experiment right here is that you can in fact I don’t know yeah we can in fact win a game using the texture pack and therefore it’s pretty good for PvP that’s uh so that’s a pretty much a point in every category that I’ve Searched I thought it’s a really great texture pack but I really do recommend in every single you know way except for the fact that if you want something crazy changing and for eight dollars you might it’s not reading that this is more just like what if vanilla was slightly better and That actually brings us nicely to the end of this video because I want to talk about the fact that this map charges a toy it’s the elephant in the room that people gonna be like so you’re saying it’s good but come back to that whole thing and yeah I think the the real Truth behind this is that the having something available is like oh yeah you can supports it it doesn’t make you an idiot for paying for it the mixed you know like it that is the way a lot of things are going I think you know it Michael minecraft smoke attractions are Actually pretty good as far as most games go because you’re supporting creators you support if you play the game and make the thing that you like you know is Microsoft’s cuts you high you can organ app yourself are they releasing too much content and too much Of that content is just lazy effort skin packs that’s something you can all give yourself as well like realistically if you don’t like something you should just not buy it and I really want that to be on sir for this text packed like well if You don’t like it then don’t drop $8 on it and I think that is a big part of the eternal answer but because it is so famous because it is a big Java text prank coming to bedrock I think it would be better for everyone else in the Marketplace I think it would be better even for the pack itself if they didn’t decide oh yeah let’s charge the max amount and then fly about it well also you know doing the least effort possible to port it over you saw earlier the cats have been updated it’s not you know it Doesn’t work in the current update it includes minecraft 1.12 and maybe 1.13 as well so just to confirm it does include minecraft 1.13 the aquatic update orbital 1.4 if we’re counting minecraft bedrock / 1.5 4.6 but it doesn’t include anything beyond that so 1.8 which came out last year last December the pandas they have been updated the scaffolding hasn’t been updated which might mean that it’s a little bit jarring for those certain features the features that came out 1.9 admittedly that was just two weeks before so you know they have a pass on that also not updated and yeah this is Where my basic point comes in here this map charges more than the average minimum wage in the United States of robber I should say the United States federal minimum wage you know for more than hour but yet despite doing that it doesn’t provide a lot of the promises that you’d expect regular frequent Updates but I mean we haven’t updated since you know December of last year apparently so I mean that’s that’s kind of a thing and yeah this is just basically why I would say this is a lesson in what you know like the the fair price to charge in any given market Is if you want to charge these price you know the standard rate then provide a standard or preferably above average product you know try to over-deliver or whatever but if you’re going to you know set the expectations so high if you’re gonna charge you know the maximum they humanly allow you to Maybe you should provide some additional value and maybe you know like that additional value doesn’t come in the form of saying you don’t get to set the prices and you know like for instance also in the form of not providing updates stuff like that is something That I would like to see and yeah although I’m not gonna say like oh yeah we should you know better try to get this go band Ripper get the content removed no I think they up the option should be there if you want to do it sure that’s Fine the guy should get support for his work he makes a really great texture pack I really like it but that’s why today is text pack review is gonna end up something I don’t think I’ve ever said before this is a really great texture pack I love it for so many Different reasons there’s so many great things to say about the you know the the the face book texture pack however despite that I’m gonna say that I wouldn’t recommend picking up at least not right now I would say that something that users charged this much while still Not really choosing to uh provide is not something that provides value for money and if you do want to pick it up and you really kind of wants it then you know there there are other ways and I’m personally a big believer if the idea of Like vote with your wallet if you really like something then buy it supports it that’s how you keep something around but if you really don’t like something if something really doesn’t hit you in the right way and in this particular case this really did again like the the the Combination of everything together it’s just something that I don’t really want to support I would not recommend sports saying I bought if the purposes of review I mean I would not have if I if I have the choice and I do like it and I’ll love I’d love to use this again Sometime and use it for Pb stuff but otherwise I won’t be using it in videos I won’t be recommending you use it and yeah I’d like to change their opinion eventually if mr.
