Hey guys what is up this is mr. crayfish and welcome back to my redstone tutorials in this tutorial today I’m gonna be teaching you guys how to build an up and down elevator now recently did a tutorial on an elevator and straight after actually posted this a fan on Twitter called kavik actually tweeted me a picture of a downwards design I was like I totally should have added this in and I also noticed you guys in the comments said how do I go down with so credits today definitely go to kavik for the downwards design now I’m going to Show you guys how this works so the left side here is by going up the right side is for going down so let’s stand on this left side here and press this button we’re then elevated up to the second floor here we’ll press it again we’re Now on the third floor if we want to go down we simply go to the right side here this is button with an elevated back down to the second floor and then elevated back to where we started at the bottom and again this design is modular So you can stack it up on top of each other to suit any height building and it is also very resourceful friendly now I’m going to show you guys how you can build this so the materials you are going to need is three redstone dust two redstone repeaters two normal Pistons Two sticky pistons two stone buttons or you can get wooden ones if you really want to – stairs of your choice and 64 blocks of your choice so the first thing that you want to do is decide where you want to go up and down so say this is The spot that I want to go up to the right here is where I’m going to go down so what I’m going to do is get my blocks of choice and on either side I’m going to place a three high pillar so one to the right there and then these are my Two spaces here and then on the left side we’ve got another three high pillar on the left side here what we’re going to do is stand where we would go up and we’re going to place a block just behind and then we’re going to place another Block behind and then one on top place your button on the front face of this block here piece of redstone dust on top to the left of this block that the redstone is on place a sticky piston facing upwards then place one of you blocks of choice on top place a block in Front of the sticky piston and then get your redstone repeater coming out of this block here going into this block at the front then you’re going to come back down and you want to get your normal piston and place it to the right of this top block here facing downwards now for The right side because this is the bottom it’s a little bit different to what we would do for the next stage and I will show you guys how to stack this on top but because this is the bottom what we’re going to do is on this right Side here and we place the block here but on this right side we’re going to place a three blocks up like so we’re going to get our normal piston place that in between these blocks here facing upwards then we’re going to place a block behind this one so one block there Place up here’s our redstone dust on top and then we want to separate this and we can simply do that by piece placing a block on top of this redstone here and now they’re separated we’re going to place a block in front of the redstone and then one on top oops Let’s go up we’re going to place a button on the front of this block here to the right of the block that the redstone is on top of we’re going to place our sticky piston facing upwards block on top block in front of the piston here get your redstone repeater And place it coming out of this block here facing towards the front we’re then going to destroy this block here which the repeater is basically facing into we all place a redstone down on that block there and then place a block on top like so and that will cover that up now we Actually need to make some changes because this won’t work what I’ve got to do is replace this block here in front of the red stain down there oops place that back what we want to do is place a block on top of the normal piston here come around the back and Then place a stair upside down facing backwards towards you so it looks like from this side it is a full book and I’ll explain later while we’re doing that and then we’re also going to place a stairs on top of this button here and we’re just going to place it down like That so something like that and I’ll explain again why we’re doing that in the explanation part of this video now we’re going to test this out and you knows that I’ll encounter a problem say we can go up easily but if you stand on the down section here and we press the Button as you can see we’re just getting pushed up by the piston here and not actually going down now at the top of your elevator you’re going to actually have to make it so there’s a too high space on the down section here so we can Simply just place two blocks on top of this pillar here and then place one at the top here then we’ve got a to higher space here for the down part of the elevator and as you can see when I press this button now we will actually get elevated downwards now this elevator Here will be good for one-story but you might be asking how do I create this for X amount of stories in my house and I’m going to show you guys how you can stack this up on top of each other now so let’s go ahead and what we’re going to Do is we’re going to do a very similar to what we’ve done just here so let’s go ahead out and get some blocks here we’re going to create a three high pillar to the left and the right and as you can see we’ve already kind of got that going On here we’re going to do exactly the same and H let’s get that block out we’re going to place a block here in front on the left side here and we’re going to create a two high blocks here now it’s already one so we just add one On one on top of there we get our button my middle click is not working for some reason place our button there get our redstone on top of that sticky piston to the left here facing upwards block on their block in front of the piston get a redstone repeater out place it coming Out of this block here going into this front block at the front here we can then get a regular piston place that facing downwards oops then we’ve done the left slide now now for the down part so we’re simply going to have a piston here a normal piston There facing upwards behind the piston we’re going to place a block and then go out one more towards the back place a piece of redstone dust on the last block here block on top of this redstone so we split it off block on top of the redstone dust here Button on the front face to the right of the block that the redstone is on sticky piston facing upwards block on top like in front of the piston redstone repeater coming out of this block here going towards the front break this block here redstone dust down the bottom and then We’re going to create a three high pillar here and then one on top so we’ve got that two higher space and then to make this look nicer we’re going to place that stair there and again I’ll explain why we’re doing this later so upside down stair facing backwards so it Looks like a full block and then we can place one down here as well and there we go and then just to finish this off where it’s going to place blocks going up here join that on and then we’re also just going to get some planks here and For the top we can actually just place to here and then cover that up on the sides and that’s all enclosed and the same here we can place a block above this repeater make sure that there’s a gap left in between these piston here and the block below so when this does Extend it doesn’t push that upwards same with this side as well and as you can see this is nicely enclosed we’re also going to place a block in front of each piece of this red stain on the right here and then just copy that on the left Side and then we’re going to put some half slabs in between to make it look a bit nicer and there we go now at that point in the tutorial where I’m going to teach you guys how this works and again it is very simple so let’s start with the up motion so when We press this button here what this is doing is it’s powering this Redstone behind here and what we’ve got here is actually a monostable circuit so what this does is it at a quick pulse of redstone so we’re powering this block here which actually powers this block and then this piston Below so it powers is first than that one so you can imagine it’s powered this block and then this repeater would detect that signal but then it will also power this piston see this block goes up and it cancels that signal out sending out a really quick pulse of redstone This power that redstone from the repeater powers this piston here which then when you’re inside of the piston and then it retracts you get pulled up to the top of it so let’s go ahead do that press the button get pulled up really quickly an hour on the second Story here for the down motion it’s almost identical if we go around the back here so we first press this button here we come around the back it powers this redstone underneath it which again we have another monostable circuit which sends out a quick pulse of redstone now We can’t actually power this piston here just by going into this block so that’s why we put a piece of redstone dust underneath it and then that sends out a quick pulse and we get pulled underneath the piston here and now we’re down at the ground level now I mentioned earlier Why we’re putting these stairs in these specific locations and this is because if we actually go ahead and press this button here this redstone behind it is actually powering the blocks around it so if this here was a full block it’s actually going to power that block which Would then power this piston at the front here and wouldn’t give off that instant effect it would still work but it wouldn’t be as efficient same goes with the downward motion if we were to press that button it would power this redstone here powering this block now There’s a weird glitch where redstone or Pistons would actually get powered by blocks that are diagonally up to them so if this here was powered that piston here would be powered if there was a block update so we eliminate this problem by using a non full block such As stairs and the good thing about stairs is that when you play some upside down backwards they look like a normal wood plank so guys that’s going to wrap up this tutorial today again thank you to kavik for coming up with the downward motion of this elevator go spamming on his Twitter and low know that I use his downward motion in the elevator now if you enjoyed this video today make sure you go ahead and you snap that like button if you have any ideas for registering tutorials let me know down in the comments below and Also subscribe to keep up with my latest tutorials and I will
