My Toughest Minecraft Challenge Yet! – Minecraft: One Life To Live (Episode 01)

I’ve been playing Minecraft for over 10 years it’s a game where the only limitations is your imagination so I thought why not apply some self-imposed rules and put my skills to the test the goal will be to defeat all the boss mobs in hardcore mode with no Health

Regeneration oh and if that’s not enough I’m not gonna use totems but that really shouldn’t be a problem because with the Minecraft skills I’ve acquired over the years I should easily crush this challenge oh welcome to One Life to Live Minecraft ultra Hardcore and it begins right now

Oh here we go please good spawn okay all right all right I’ll take it all right good we’ve got some daylight ahead of us and I don’t know why I’m gonna collect this but I’m going to never know never know maybe pumpkin farm is uh one of the

First things we do all right so we gotta watch every single step we take because you know any damage we won’t be able to heal right away unless yes we fight um this guy all right we’ll need to keep our eye out for some mushrooms as well

If we Brew up some oxide Daisy suspicious stew then we’ll get some regeneration and that could save us of course we need to punch some trees and we’ll just look around make sure there’s no mobs out here just in case as we punch this tree wouldn’t want to make

That kind of a noob mistake would we all right we made our first crafting table let’s go ahead and I guess let’s get a shovel and a pickaxe we’ll see if we can get some Stone right away and then maybe make our first sword from Stone that’d

Probably be a good idea all right they’re still in there but we gotta watch our step quite a ways down here probably worth taking a peek to see if there’s any iron that’s exposed oh but there is a creeper right there so yeah maybe we will stay back just a bit first

Stone acquired let’s get enough to make some new tools we don’t need these wood ones anymore I suppose and we might as well get enough to get a furnace too in case we need to cook any food let’s set up right here get our furnace going because we’re gonna be cooking straight

Away and I guess we’ll just use our wooden tools as our first fuel Source all right already getting the upgrades there is our sword and we may want to think about going back for those sheep because yeah I don’t have a rule against sleeping through the night I could have

Really made it hard on myself if I chose to do that but yeah let’s let’s get this wool and then that way when the first night comes we’ll sleep through it we’ll be safe and sound please drop two please drop two oh no oh we’ve only got two

White and you are brown and you are black oh no that’s not good so we can’t mix and match the colors to make a bed so that is very unfortunate darn it may have been smarter to find iron first make shears and do it that way hopefully

We can find another white sheep though all right let’s just take a peek inside this cave if anything seems sketchy we’re gonna get out but it would be nice if we could just get a little bit of iron there is some coal super dark in here and I’m hearing a zombie which isn’t

Great all right can I get some High Ground maybe I can see some more sheep from up high well no sheep to be found but I will collect these every chance I get all right let’s get some beef going we’re already getting hungry whoa gotta watch her step around here almost fell

In that little pit and took damage all right we did a whole circle around this place and I could not find any more white sheep and I’m starting to get hungry so let’s go ahead and start cooking our food make sure that we don’t take any damage from starvation right

Off the bat that’d be pretty Noob I hate the idea that it’s already getting towards nighttime and we don’t have a shelter and we don’t have a way to sleep through the night that is not cool this could be the shortest series I’ve ever done look across the way there’s a white

Sheep right there okay we can do this let’s go we are in a race against the Sun but I think we can get over there and get that sheep get that wool and sleep through the night before mob spawn oh but we still gotta watch our stuff I

Don’t want to take any damage oh when I hear a drown behind me that’s not good I hope it has never tried it okay we’re good oh there he is I think I feel like he knows I’m coming for him come on give me give me try to get back

I think we can I think we can get back to our crafting table so don’t have to make another one here we go Race Against Time at his dusk oh no we need one more piece of wood oh come on come on come on come on thanks

Ed go you you and down sleep oh we did it okay hopefully no mob spawned and we’re safe and sound lucky we didn’t Panic not gonna make that mistake again let’s collect a little more wood oh look what I just spotted right off the coast there is a sunken ship right there and

There’s a chance there could be iron in there I’ve been looking for surface iron this whole time didn’t think about exploring the ocean so let’s head over there and maybe we’ll bring a door with us in case you know there’s no air bubbles Down Below in the ship and then

That way that can save us as we explore the boat and hopefully get some iron hopefully we don’t run into any drown down here especially ones with tridents all right looks like this has got a door already in it so we’re good here and what do we got a clock okay that

Might come in handy we’ll take it buried treasure map I don’t mind doing a little exploring for some treasure I don’t think I need the paper but we’re just gonna be hoarders for now until we decide we don’t need it all right looks like there’s another chest right across

The way here go ahead and pop in here pop the door down perfect all right a little bit of armor couldn’t hurt let’s go ahead and suit up a bit oh bamboo and must this actually might come in handy for a first couple Farms here

All right we got one more room up top here let’s get in here get a door down before we lose all of our air oh that was getting close and please have some iron in it yes okay that is exactly what I was hoping for and a little bit of

Other goodies here as well nice all right I’m not gonna waste any time I want to get a shield in case we run into any skellies could potentially save me some hearts and if we take these nuggets that should give us seven and now we can actually get pants as well because we

Are still missing those and a helmet too and I know I said I was gonna save everything but I think I think we can leave the poisonous potatoes behind oh nice some iron right in the side of this little Cliff right here and I do have an

Extra door which means we can come down here pop the door down we’ll be nice and safe with the air bubbles and actually will help us dig a little bit faster too I think I’ll actually keep this door with me it’s been coming in handy so far

Would be nice to find one more piece of iron before we go then I could finish off my entire ensemble here and get a helmet as well but no such luck in the water so we’ll start to travel by land and maybe we’ll get lucky alright so

While we’re traveling by land here maybe looking for some iron would be nice to find a village I think there’s a lot we could do if we found a village uh I want to talk a little bit about the series because you heard in the intro the goal

Of this series is to fight four major boss mobs now I’m kind of using that term loosely because I guess technically Elder Guardians aren’t a boss mob and I think maybe also the warden also isn’t really considered a boss mob but those are on the list so my my four boss mobs

That I want to kill in this series is gonna be the Ender Dragon of course the the classic boss mob a Wither boss that’s boss in the name so that fits and then we’re gonna do a ocean Monument Raid kill some Elder Guardians and I want to kill all three in the ocean

Monument for it to count and then of course the warden so we gotta go to the deep dark which is going to be absolutely terrifying and again if you didn’t catch it we are in Ultra Hardcore Mode so it’s like hardcore meaning that if we die this world is done it is over

We’re no longer allowed to play in it and so we only get one shot at this one life and also we don’t read gen I’ve turned off the uh the game rule of natural regeneration and if we take any damage like a three block fall and it

Would take a little bit of damage from it then it’s not coming back unless we do something like eat a golden apple or drink a suspicious stew that’s made with oxidase hence the reason why we’re collecting those and yeah so that’s gonna make things even more difficult

During battles and stuff like that to manage our own health and to have it not just come back and also I’m self-imposing a rule that I will not use totems and and that’s just because I I want to do this like in one shot I

Really want to just have the One Life to Live and if you pop a totem that’s pretty much like dying except you get to keep playing and in this case we’re not gonna let that happen so yeah Stakes are high so of course we can’t just rush in

Right we’re not just speed running this we’re not just gonna go right after the dragon and hope we can kill it with no armor and just bring beds or something like that because that’s a little bit too risky for my blood this is my first time doing a hardcore where I’m not

Allowed to use totems so yeah I want to be ultra careful about it but also very very smart if we can some smart gameplays so we’re gonna gear up we’re gonna actually use some Minecraft mechanics we’re gonna build farms we’re gonna do some trading and we’re gonna

See how buff we can get and try to go into these battles using our brain a little bit trying to make sure that we are ready to win uh because you know I I don’t really want to lose this world we just started it I’m collecting all these

Oxide daisies but they’re not gonna do much good unless we can find some mushrooms to also make the suspicious stew with so that might include a trip to the nether if I can’t find some sort of biome that has mushrooms in it one nice thing about traveling is you come

Across plenty of food sources along the way so that’s what I’m doing I’m basically just killing every single cow I come across and I guess I’ve chosen beef as my protein of choice you know it might be a smart idea to travel by boat we can really travel fast and it won’t

Take a lot of our hunger up and we’ll be able to see off the shores and see if there’s anything worth visiting that way and maybe even catch some iron if we see any like on the coast so let’s do that let’s just make a boat Let’s Travel

Around as quick because we can and hopefully we’ll come across something good and I literally just made another crafting table for no reason yeah that’s gonna happen many times this series 10 years of Minecraft and I still do that hopefully you guys can relate right at

Least one of you can relate please all right we finally followed the river all the way out to what looks to be an ocean so now we should be able to make some good distance and I always gotta check down in these little bits to see if

There’s any exposed iron oh in a ruined portal right here okay that’s nice fine although we gotta be careful about these magma blocks because yeah that damage won’t heal itself all right anything good in here okay some more iron exactly what I needed and ooh a golden chest

Plate should we swap this one out it does have glass protection and this one just has mending so I’m thinking that’s going to be a little bit better you know it’s gold so it’s not going to last long but that’s all right I mean that’s a

Good find I’m gonna go ahead and take these nuggets right now that was quite a lot actually and we’ll make some more iron I’m gonna pop down another the furnace right now and we’ll go ahead and smelt up the other iron that we dug out

And then we’ll be able to finally get a helmet and at least yeah I mean we’re a bit of a mismatch here of our gear but that’s fine any protection will go a long ways all right helmets and there we go fully suited very nice oh and I just

Realized we forgot to look at our buried treasure map looks like it’s to the north and a little bit east from where we’re at now so maybe we’ll head that way in our boat and hope that we can find some treasure along the way all

Right a little dot is moving up on the map which means we need to start cutting East which is just over this way and let’s see are we on the map yet looks like we might need to cut across this land mass here to get to the X on the

Other side but I think it’ll be worth it well it was a little bit bigger of a landmass than I could have thought but it led us to a village across the way uh however we uh we got up pretty high here and I think we’re gonna have to find a

Better way down hopefully I picked up my boat all right we’re just gonna do this little boat trick to get down from this Cliff nice and safe and nailed it it actually looks like the treasures on the other side of this Village so maybe while we’re here we

Should look for any villagers and maybe keep them safe so that we can start a villager breeder and villager trading and all that so we can get geared up rather quickly and there they are okay occupants of this Village are just out here hanging about and they’ve even got

A Golem which could be nice protection for me for many mobs that come around at night so this is great all right I’m gonna need to find a way to mark their little spots that we put them into and it would be nice actually to mix some

Torches I’m gonna use my five bits of coal there and make 20 torches I think the easiest thing to do right now would be to just dig a hole and kind of push them in it and then cover it up we’ll put the torch down in there as well and

Uh yeah yeah we’re gonna actually have to get him in there that’s that’s usually the difficult part let’s take his workstation pop it down there and then he’s gonna be more likely to want to be in that hole potentially let’s see yeah and uh now we can probably push him

In maybe even both these guys if we’re lucky obviously we don’t want to go in there all right one in two in all right good idea uh so worst case scenario these two guys survive and we are able to start a villager breeder with them but it might be worth saving more just

In case yeah go ahead and go on down in there so now there’s three in there let’s see if we got any goodies inside this house up here maybe for this guy let’s just put his workstation inside and then we’ll lock them in oh and he’s

Got some apples in here nice so we’re close to being able to make a golden apple if we need to all right we’ll just box them in there he’ll be fine there’s a whole bunch more in the center here oh and there’s a cleric which means somewhere around here there’s a brewing

Stand which could be very useful for me everybody go to your home so I can lock you in thank you all right they’re gonna be in there for now and hopefully that is enough security now there’s a chest in there I’d like to check at some point in time

Not too concerned about saving the nitwits to be honest there’s where the cleric’s supposed to resign I don’t know why he chose that house anyway all right that’s good enough oh whoa no way Pillager Outpost right there that also means we’re in danger [Laughter] um I feel like that’s right where the

Buried treasure is seems like it doesn’t it and I’m gonna play with some fire here I’m gonna get close also curious if there’s any lays in there right usually they’re all trapped in those things I don’t really feel like dealing with pillagers and I just realized even when we do find this

Buried treasure I’m not gonna be able to carry it back my pockets are full I should have emptied them oh there is our first Pillager right there and the captain great definitely don’t want bad Omen there’s literally a village right there all right we’re pretty much right

On top of the X but there is a trick somebody taught me a while back has something to do with the where you’re at in the chunk and if we look for next to the block you can see in the little brackets there you’ve seen eight

Seven eight now all we have to do is dig straight down which I don’t like doing in Minecraft so let’s do it this way let’s let’s dig out two and there we go oh and it was actually nine nine not eight eight my bad whoa now we’re talking all right I definitely don’t

Know what to swap out now we got too much good stuff and our first diamonds very nice that is exciting of course we need to take the heart of the sea finally I’m gonna get rid of this paper I suppose very good find I suppose we could leave the treasure map behind

As well we no longer need that all right let’s head back to the village and we’ll settle down a little bit there I think what we could do is make an iron farm straight away and then we could trade iron for some different gear and things

Like that actually we’ll set up a few farms for trading and yeah we’ll see if we can start gearing up through the Villager trades I think we’ll go ahead and grab this little two story here it looks like a nice little house to settle in oh it looks like somebody got a

Little lazy with the second floor more oh that feels good the first time you just dump all your stuff into a chest oh that was bugging you wasn’t it my inventory I was bugging you wasn’t it all right we’ll kill two birds with one stone out

Here we’ll cut down some trees clear a little bit of space for some of the Farms we need to make and we need some wood so oh you’re part of the house you can stay then I think I’m gonna get bamboo going because it could be an easy

Fuel source for us and it just grows so quick also I think I’m gonna do this trick where you put the door in an open State like this and then you close it and now zombies actually won’t try to break it down because they don’t see the

Door is actually being closed they think it’s open so they don’t try to knock it down and so they won’t try to come in beans were perfectly safe in here just hanging out all right at this point I think my next move should be to focus on getting mushrooms we’ve got the oxide

Daisies but we can’t make suspicious stew until we have both the brown and the red mushroom and since I haven’t seen any out wandering around maybe we do actually go to the nether now I only have four obsidian but I think I’ve seen some lava here and there in fact uh if

We make some lava buckets we can can move the lava and then pour some water on it and make ourselves a portal and as scary as that sounds I think going to the nether should be our next move all right now we get a couple sources of

Lava from this right here in fact you know I never got to look nothing in the furnaces unfortunately but that’s two and we had four obsidians so we are still gonna need a few more lava sources all right we got the hot stuff now well I just realized if I put this lava

Down it might end up burning this floor before I get a chance to grab the water from this water source right outside here so oh we’re gonna go for it anyway and hope we don’t burn the village down yeah we were too quick no chance all

Right yes I did choose this house right across from the one I’m staying in to be our portal room but here you can see we still need one two three and four in order to make the portal all right bamboo is coming along and in case you’re wondering whether or not we were

Playing in the new snapshots for 1.20 uh nope we are actually in 1.19.3 so we won’t be able to make any bamboo planks or rafts or anything like that there’s no camels to be found just yet we’re still playing in the released version of Minecraft at least at the time of this

Recording so with the rain I can’t really tell what time of day it is it would be nice to sleep when we can I’m gonna grab this clock I knew it would come in handy and we gotta go on an adventure we gotta go find more lava

Well that might help a ruined portal right there in fact now I’m kicking myself because had I had those obsidian blocks on me still we could have just finished that thing oh except for you you’re a Ruiner and we don’t have a diamond pickaxe just yet all right well maybe we’ll get lucky

There’s some lava there maybe there’s other lava around this thing and another piece of obsidian so that’s good fire charges I’m not exactly sure what we can do with a fire charge and a curse advantage in Golden helmet oh we’ll grab that lava and maybe uncover some more if

We’re lucky ooh but that is nice and shiny all right more lava behind here and even better a nice gold block which we should probably make an iron pickaxe for because I believe if we mind it with stone it would just go bye-bye all right little pick up grade isn’t it iron pick

Don’t you think can’t help it have to sing it every single time sorry it’s like rain it was a bit ironic that it’s actually raining out you can thank me later for getting that stuck in your head ah there we go because I think we’re literally one bucket short at this point

I hear lava right here okay there we go now an alternate way to do this obviously and you’ve probably seen speedrunners do this is we could come in here with the water bucket and basically build the portal right here but at this point I’ve pretty much built

Most of the portal I just need one more bucket of lava and we can be on our way and actually have the portal where we want it instead of An Inconvenient spot so let’s head back let’s get the job done oh and also we’re gonna need some

Flint so let’s see if we can get some from this gravel there we go and we just need to go there and there and we’ve got a whole portal frame ready to go and voila now I think I’m gonna get some things settled before we go to the nether including a little

Bit of Maintenance around here let’s continue spreading this and we’ll sort out our inventory all right I’ve got a few things I think we’ll need some tools some extra iron and wood in case these break and a boat in case an Enderman tries to come after me I only have a few

Blocks so we’ll have to collect those along the way but here we go let’s step into The Nether and see what awaits oh some gold all right that’s good we’ll go ahead and collect that and of course we are wearing gold armor as well so if

We run into any Pikmin we won’t have a problem and it seems we’re in a a box of some sort how high up in the world are we 70 okay well I guess let’s just dig a tunnel in fact I’m gonna preserve my stone pickaxe for now okay so we uh

Running any more gold I wanted to be able to have that for that and hopefully this opens up somewhere soon also need to be ready in case lava comes at us out of nowhere I’m just gonna go ahead and put those right next to this pick more

Gold excellent you know we’re gonna have enough gold we could literally craft a gold Apple like right now just in case we need to we need to save ourselves from something this might be a better way to go than the oxide Daisy come to think of it yep I’m gonna go back let’s

Make a golden apple all right that is a thing of beauty and of course we don’t really need our clock in the nether anyway so we’ll go ahead and put that back and we do have more gold here if we need to make another one but yeah this

Could come in handy in a pinch I’m beginning to think this nether is just all Netherrack like where’s daylight here okay I’m hearing some fire crackling and it seems to be right above us so maybe we start to go up a little bit lava oh that’s scary that could end our

Series if we’re not careful in fact I hear a lot of llama I feel like we’re under a lava lake that’s not good looks like we have an opening let’s see what we’ve got fire everywhere that’s for sure all right one thing I want to do is leave a marker of with a

Block that’s not really familiar to the Nether and that way we should be able to see that and realize where we’re at or where we need to go which is this way and is that a Bastion through there not something I want to tackle today uh we didn’t talk about

Whether we’re going to consider the brutes a boss mob but it could be fun to take on when we feel prepared for it and there’s some mushrooms but they’re not the kind that I want so we’re gonna have to keep looking all right so he shouldn’t be mad at me because we’re

Wearing gold right you know like I should uh have my shield at the ready just in case ah there’s the red mushrooms that we need excellent thank you don’t mind if I do now about those brown mushrooms see a Soul Sand Valley over here I wonder if we can get

Lucky and find some brown mushrooms in there oh we found a gas in there we don’t even have a bow so that’s not gonna be fun all these bone blocks could come in handy though oh Jesus man there’s another one right there awesome I think I’d rather come back and

Tackle this when I have a bow and I can fight from a distance I’m not really seeing any brown mushrooms anyway but yeah we are getting surrounded by gas those that’s fun oh yeah there’s a lot of brutes in there maybe we don’t go anywhere near that now

If we venture into this biome we’re gonna have to deal with hogland’s roaming about and I don’t think that’s worth the risk just yet either we really still need to stay pretty risk adverse until we get enough gear to feel confident going into battles like this

So I don’t think I’m gonna go in there plus I don’t really think we’re gonna find any brown mushrooms in there anyway oh we got plenty of red mushrooms that’s for sure I’m also kind of tempted to harvest more gold and maybe just say forget the oxide Daisy stuff I mean I

Don’t really see any piglet around so we probably could safely Harvest this I probably should have brought a crafting table with me well time to make the third one of the Season great all right I’ve done a ton of searching and no luck finding brown mushrooms so I think I’m

Gonna head back and maybe we will just change our game plan to living off some of this gold and maybe even make a gold farm right and we can always get a farmer villager to sell us the apples from the village here so that shouldn’t

Be a problem so yeah we um well we made our first trip to the nether that was fun oh sweet home oh the nether just gives me anxiety every turn we made it was something wanting to kill us another option could be caving and hoping we find mushrooms

Down in a cave that’s also equally terrifying but we are gonna have to take some risk in this series if we’re gonna progress yeah I think this is the way to go we’ve already got three golden apples and still more gold left over so yeah we’re we’re just gonna live off of

Golden apples if we need to for now we are running low on iron though and I’m wondering if we could make a really simple iron farm since we already have villagers here of course we could just go out and and kill the Golem that’s out there and eventually one will respawn

But I think I want to get something a little more sophisticated than that if we can I got a few supplies together and cleared out some space and might as well grab this apple since you know we’re gonna be trying to get as many gold

Apples as we can and we are gonna make a super simple iron farm that shouldn’t take us long at all especially since we already have our villagers nearby and we’re gonna go with the design by Ian x04 and I just need to lure a couple villagers over dig a hole get them down

In the ground and they should start spawning Golems for us this should be super easy all right I’m going around stealing all the beds and oh more good stuff in here I’ll leave that for later we’ve got it set up now we just need to lure some villagers into the beds over

By where we want to actually have our iron farm now and with it being dusk that should happen here shortly so this part’s got me a little bit worried I hope we don’t mess this up take any damage look at the bamboo growing here’s our beds basically we need three

Villagers to come in and then we’re gonna knock these beds out they’re gonna fall down into a little pit that we’ve dug and then they’re gonna have new beds down in there that they can occupy then after that we gotta get a zombie in here which this is pretty scary so let’s see

I don’t see any villagers coming over just yet did they find new beds I mean they got to be freaking out a little bit it is night time hello here’s a bed if you need one dude uh any more any more villagers oh do we

Need to get one at a time I hope not I think yeah he’s heading over there now come on we need to find some more villagers where are they all of course we’ve got the ones we’ve trapped in here we could go after them I suppose you’re

A little bit of panic in my voice because it is night time and it’s the first time we’re actually like trying to brave the night here let’s see if we get these guys lured out onto the pathway come on there’s new beds out here guys you’re gonna love them hello hello see

That one all right here they come there they come sorry you can’t have that and this feels a bit bad breaking their beds from them but we gotta get them out here all right come on come on get that bad too hurry up before any any Moms come

Okay great great we’re just gonna LeapFrog over here hopefully he sees that one a little bit further than I was hoping for but this should work keep going keep going what a process huh okay maybe I should have mob proofed this area a little bit better no no no no

Out of here don’t take any damage don’t take any damage okay okay we’re good our first our first kill of the Season we probably could have actually used that guy to be honest um but we’ll get another one later let’s make sure these guys get in first

All right all right check our six make sure Nobody’s around all right now that they’re in the beds we just break break and push get in there you were supposed to go in there to begin with all right and they are good to go we’ll cover that up

Okay now we really could use a zombie uh we gotta find one hopefully there’s another one around this is actually super terrifying this is the biggest risk we’ve taken so far in the series oh oh there’s a creeper jump up tumble up stay back oh there’s good luck oh

I knew that it was gonna happen okay oh okay we got some zombie spawns X oh oh oh oh we didn’t need that many zombies actually thank you though oh my gosh holy cow uh guys that that’s too many that’s too many zombies for me oh okay that works yeah excellent excellent job

That’s fun to Gollum in the pit and while he’s dying he’s taking care of all those zombies that was like a crazy zombie horde of some sort wow that worked out and it kind of didn’t somehow we’ve got did one of those actually go down oh here comes one here comes one let’s

See if we can lure him in oh oh he’s supposed to be in the boat okay oh oh oh oh oh okay well there’s two down in there now I don’t know if that’s good or bad but the one downstairs is supposed to be in a boat all right we’re gonna go to

Sleep now that was uh really really terrifying but we didn’t somehow take any damage so I’ll take it and look at that another Golem spawning this is excellent now we set up these blocks to suffocate them for now but we can change that out with love we just gotta head

Back to our lava lake and grab another bucket of lava and that will kill them a little bit faster and that would be good to like double the rates but I want to make sure that everything is in place here okay let’s make sure there’s no more mobs out here

Oh this is awesome all right there’s already some iron in the pit now let’s check on our zombies below and it seems he did not want to go in the boat like he was supposed to which is not good all right let’s get this hopper in place

Right there we’ll add a chest on the other side of that later all right I made the Bold choice of pouring some water in there to move the boat a little bit and he’s in it now but it’s not exactly aligned where it should be but I

Guess it doesn’t seem to matter because Golems are still spawning so we’re gonna go ahead and cover this up and bring in the lava so that they die a little bit faster but we are collecting some goodies already which is awesome iron farm in the first episode I’d say we’re
