Point it is a necromancer map so the campaign that I’m running for Charles and Lisa the big bad is a necromancer named Emily who lost her partner Bartholomew when he failed the ritual to turn himself into a lich and they had been a team who had worked together to

Try and achieve him more like legitimate mortality together for a really long time and losing him kind of like totally unhinged her so now she’s in the process of like research and everything to try and like get him back and still be able to preserve her own list um and so

They’ve been kind of seeing bits and pieces of her work she’s like learning how to raise different kinds of undead and it’s kind of like they’re getting the whole origin story of her as well like she’s leveling up at the same time that they’re leveling up and so they

Found out recently like they forced her out of her tower that she was in initially and she’s had to relocate so this map is supposed to be kind of the clues to her relocation so there’s like all kinds of little Easter eggs in here I’ve seeded for them

To find and then ideally her stronghold is like up here so and the stronghold is in a Petrified Forest so it’s kind of it’s sorry just cut the mat making masochists comments Brian you are not wrong anyway yeah I do not know where the hell this

Is going a swamp or a bog I think is yeah I think it’s not a bad idea like I think ocean is not at all accurate to where we’re geographically this is taking place in the world and there’s a Petrified Forest like I know for a fact that her stronghold is in a

Petrified Forest it would be really cool if that forest was actually underwater though I saw a clip on Facebook the other day of a stream I want to say it’s in Brazil that every seven years or so floods by like a metre and a half and for whatever reason the walking paths

Around it flood and the water stays perfectly clear so you can actually like snorkel through it and it looks pristine with just a little bit of stuff floating on the top but it’s clear it’s not money you can see through the water you can see all the leaves you can see all the

Plants and so I was thinking like this Petrified Forest might be really interesting to have it like the bottom of a lake there was a lake that we used to go to when I was a kid called sugar lake that was created by a dam and so

You couldn’t fish in certain areas of the lake because your line would get tangled up in all of the pine trees that were at the bottom of the lake the fish loved it but it was really irritating if you were a Fisher person so yeah I don’t

Know so many ideas so so much insecurities about whether or not I’m gonna be able to get this done I mean I do think it’s turning out really well like I’m pretty content with just how it is right now like I think it’s one of my better maps honestly

Which makes me pretty happy but but masochism is not quite off the mark at this stage of the game you gotta say so yeah I was planning on having a river come through here so maybe I can swamp that up but I got to figure out how to

Draw a swamp that is a thing that I have yet to actually work out in practical reality I was going to erase this line and see what that did for me I’m experimenting with doing my rivers in the negative right now just leaving them as white spaces and I kind of love the

Effect I think it’s really interesting cattails the forest from neverending story yeah for sure the thing for me is knowing how to represent that at such a distance right because this is crazy a scale like you would never see a cattail at this distance and this is kind of

Like where fantasy map making gets its fantasy label I think because you have to have a relationship between what you’re trying to represent in the symbology that you’re using to represent it so yeah there’s definitely definitely me needing to do some problem solving in terms of getting this sort of

I don’t know if you were here for it or not Brian but Patrick was like hey how long are each of those marks that you’re making so I measured them and they’re between a millimeter and two millimeters and now I feel like masochists is absolutely the word of the day why do I

I feel like sometimes I lose out by not like labeling my Maps either I was wondering about putting labels on to this one in Photoshop afterwards just to give it more like atmosphere because then you can put in stuff like you know the black bog or you know the

Five-fingered mountains because I was thinking of adding one two three one more set of mountains up here so that it looked like four phalanges kind of like a hand that was gripping the map and kind of pulling it maybe it wasn’t completely sure about that wait I’m asking first Oh No I think that might be too dark in this corner with how dark this already is this is also one of those ones that I think would be probably better served in color because you can just get so much more variety in color [Laughter]

I’m not broken I promise I just I was thinking because we had done on the stream last week this guy and this we had done with the dip well and my jar of masking fluid and then we washed over it with the black ink and then rubbed it up

And got the white relief underneath it and I think like that would be a particularly gorgeous way of doing things except that it’s literally the negative of what I’ve been doing this entire time and so I can’t visualize right now how I would merge those well

In order to make it look harmonious if I I’m gonna have to play with that though I think because I think that that black like negative relief would be a super useful thing for me to actually get figured out in the meantime I just got to figure out what a bog looks like

The great thing about it is it’s going to really challenge me to put some more textures in here not rely on the same old marks all the time sometimes I get a little repetitive it’s true Oh can somebody tell me if the stream is okay I just looked up and it had flashed
