NEW BIOME, More Villages, + More! | Minecraft 1.18 Experimental Snapshot 3

Ah yes welcome back everybody it’s a big day you may not realize it but you might be wondering who are you who is this well it’s it’s me sometimes referred to as wilds sometimes not it’s me so like i said a big day potentially historical even a big day

For sure right now it might not look like much unless you you notice the details if we create a new world everything looks the same at first too until i until i tell you the test snapshot number three is out now yup yup that’s right they’re back

The team the developers are back from vacation and ready for snapshots kind of but not really if you haven’t heard minecraft 1.18 snapshots they haven’t started but the experimental ones for 1.18 they have it’s very confusing stuff basically these are snapshots that aren’t snapshots the snapshot number one it

Already dropped number two already dropped number three just dropped in today’s video we’re gonna check out snapshot number three so check this out all of the changes that you’re looking at right now on screen are the changes in this week’s experimental snapshot uh there’s a lot here some of the stuff is

Actually pretty big including a brand new biome some of the stuff is a little bit smaller but yeah tons of changes adjustments across the board and even some cool bugs too no way check that out the nether is still messed up today’s video is all about minecraft 1.18 experimental snapshot number three

I’ll go loading up a world and yeah this is what i get nice we’re just gonna try it again that was a really bad world it was it was rough all right attempt to number two this looks so much better this is the seat and hey

Look at that a jungle tumbler ready to spawn so there are so many changes in this week’s experimental snapshot a lot of these changes are smaller changes some of the changes have to do with aquifers which is where we’ll start today so if you played in any of the

1.18 experimental snapshots and checked out any of the aquifers you may have noticed a common theme the is kind of just dead end they don’t really go anywhere at least if we’re talking about surface caves and surface aquifers well in this week’s experimental snapshot an adjustment has

Been made you should now be able to find some of these surface cave aquifers flooded areas go down into them and then find a cave system that is amazing that is really really good as you maybe know i’ve been playing in the 1.18 experimental snapshots and hardcore minecraft and all of the surface

Aquifers that i’ve found so far are complete dead ends they don’t go anywhere now in this world it seems i’m still not really exactly having the best luck but they look a little different like this one is actually kind of crazy it’s a gigantic flooded cave no idea how

You do this in survival without enchantments probably impossible but maybe this would go somewhere okay uh yeah flipping into spectator mode doesn’t go anywhere it gets pretty close to going somewhere really close to this cave right there which is dry but it doesn’t connect from what i’ve experienced these surface cave surface

Aquifers whatever you’d like to call them uh not connecting to other caves is maybe one of the biggest problems with 1.18 so far so this is what i’ve been experiencing pretty normally and that still happens in the snapshot you have an aquifer that starts all the way up at

The surface goes really really far down like in here and it just gets cut off and it’s really awkward and flat and then if you get into the cave somehow below it yeah like awkward flat ceiling supposedly some of these flooded surface caves should get cut off by air bubbles

And connect to normal caves that are under the ground i’m just not really seeing it happen here and there are a lot of changes so we’re to move on biome generation is kind of strange in the 1.18 test snapshots which is exactly why these are test snapshots in some of the

Earlier 1.18 test snapshots microbiomes were pretty weird you would get this small biome like sometimes like imagine a tiny tiny tundra in the middle of a desert yeah it was pretty strange 1.18 test snapshot number two took them away 1.18 test snapshot number three brings them back better than ever so now

Microbiomes can be a thing again i like this mesa bottom that’s right by world spawn it’s a pretty small mesa biome it actually goes over this way and then gets a little bit bigger but completely random microbiome shouldn’t be a thing anymore so like that small tundra

Example that i was talking about in the middle of a desert yeah that shouldn’t happen very common because 1.18 test snapshot number three not only adjusted biome generation but also biome placement and actually now that i think about it that’s the exact same thing biomes with similar temperatures generally speaking they should be

Generating closer togethernum this is going to create biomixing that gets really really interesting and also makes a little bit of sense like the savannah biome here it’s a warm biome the mesa bottom also pretty warm the jungle over there very warm a little bit of badlands

Popping through in here in the middle of the savannah yeah i mean i could see that happening that’s kind of realistic looking it happens again a little bit on this hill maybe this is the smallest badlands biome in the entire world it’s like four strips of terracotta but it

Makes sense it’s not like a frozen biome randomly in the middle of the savannah surrounded by the savannah flying down this way checking things out we have a gigantic jungle next to a bamboo jungle that seems to make sense if it leads into a forest that definitely makes sense too which leads into

I guess even more forest as of this test snapshot coastlines and riverbanks are now less likely to get messed up by aquifers now as you can see right here it can still happen i think this would be considered an aquifer maybe over here i’m pretty sure this would definitely be considered an

Aquifer i think and over here we have another one it’s like a giant ravine flooded with water but it all actually looks pretty natural in earlier test snapshots it wouldn’t be uncommon to see an aquifer generating right next to a river and the water level inside of that

Aquifer so like this ravine over here is like three blocks lower it makes it look really weird and glitchy now it seems that aquifers that generate next to rivers and other bodies of water will have the same water level inside of them as the body of water that they’re near

From what i’m seeing here along this river things seem to feel a whole lot more natural make way more sense and honestly this generation right here like this is so cool this is really really interesting it’s like the river like cut right through here made a deep cave two

At the same time that’s a strong river beaches have been changing again beaches should now be more likely to show up on flat coastlines instead of big hilly ones stone shores are also way less likely to show up too this is insane look at this water cave right there

That’s pretty cool looking next to the sweet mountain that’s cool i like the size of this beach bomb this is a nice beach it’s almost like a mini desert but the whole thing is actually a beach that’s good the mountains that are generating in the snapshot are so

Amazing look at this badlands one with the trees all over it like that’s some cool stuff right there with the cave inside of it too i hope terra cotta stays this common in 1.18 maybe it gets like blended in a little bit better or something but like more terracotta

Across the board in all the worlds you can actually find the stuff now oh that’s amazing for building that’s huge speaking of terracotta there has been a badlands biome change on this snapshot too red sand should now be a little bit more common again because of how red

Sand generates generally in flat lower areas it wasn’t generating very much in the earlier 1.18 test snapshots making it really really hard to get or maybe even impossible it all really just depends on your world how it generates but now redstone should generate a little bit higher up making it more

Common again so now let’s talk about structures because interestingly there have actually been a few structure changes in the snapshot the first structure is the desert temple desert pyramid desert temple hold on hold on a minute this is cool this is really really cool look at all the red sand

There and the the badlands right there like completely just decaying oh that’s cool this is really nice desert temple desert pyramids the generation has been changed instead of generating always on a set y level they should generate on the surface now which means these things should be less varied i mean this one

Right here still ends up being pretty buried but it’s also like exposed too next structure change is the pillager outpost the pillager outpost will look the same it could just generate in new spots outposts can now generate in the new mountain biomes so this is in a

Mountain outpost this is just a snowy one but imagine this in a mountain it would look the same except in a mountain speaking of mountain biomes let’s head over to the meadow and see if we get lucky if we get lucky we’ll be able to find a village here actually all right

So meadow biome any village here no that’s really really cool though oh that’s crazy actually look at that that drops all the way down into the lush caves that’s sweet definitely certainly not a village but lush caves in crazy cave shape too i mean it’s essentially the second best thing that’s pretty cool

So it doesn’t look like we’re gonna get lucky and find a village here but you could know villages can now generate inside of the meadow’s bio side note biome generation feels so good like these mega tiger biomes are way more common it seems in 1.18 like across all

The test snapshots and this is sweet like mega tiger next to the meadow that’s really good and dark oak forest over there in the lower area this is awesome like this feels really really cool so i’m pretty sure i can imagine how this is going to generate but i mean

You never know single biome world in the meadow single biome world in the meadow it’s a nice looking world we need to find a village so this is actually the pretty interesting thing if if you think about it every single bottom that has a village has a unique village yeah yeah

Like i thought this is just the plains biome village right now but technically speaking if we want to be consistent here then the meadow biome needs its own village if the villages are going to generate here i would imagine a metal biome village honestly being pretty

Similar to the plains bomb the biome is similar it’s just higher up but yeah it definitely deserves its own village will that happen in 1.18 i’m not too sure but if we’re going to be consistent here which we should be meadow village at some point and actually maybe because it

Is the metabile mountain biome maybe they have like a goat pen or a goat building that could be kind of cool back in the normal world now something huge happened in test snapshot number three that we haven’t talked about yet this might be the biggest thing to happen in

These test snapshots since test snapshot number one dropped locate biome stony peaks it’s a brand new mountain biome so i haven’t seen this new mountain biome quite yet i’ve only read about it here it is okay that makes sense stony and peaks yeah yep that definitely makes sense

Speaking of making sense though um that’s a little strange for sure but sony peaks is a brand new mountain bomb the sony peaks biome is made out of a ton of stone and a bunch of gravel the reasoning behind this brand new mountain biome edition has to do with the biome

Temperature thing that we were talking about earlier so remember as of this test snapshot biomes with similar temperatures generate near each other this is the perfect example of what i was talking about in here so we have the forest bomb we have the desert biome uh

And then a mountain biome right in there it wouldn’t really make sense if this mountain where a gigantic snowy mountain in the middle of the forest right like where does the snow come from and and and why meanwhile over here if we go down this mountain we have stony peaks

And then it gets snowy that biome over there is the lofty peaks it’s a snowy mountain peak biome that one over there against stoney peaks it’s cold over here so snow it’s warm over there so no snow now as you can see here biome temperatures are not on necessarily a

Gradient every single time uh pretty warm biome they’re a small one next to a very cold one next to like i guess a medium biome or something but yeah another brand new mountain biome the stony peaks biome which i think is really nice like this is a stereotypical

Mountain it’s cool to see now speaking of the mountain biomes uh there has been a change in the mountain biomes that has to do with the mountain bombs and dirt so maybe not the best example because there is dirt here in earlier test snapshots mountains would generate sometimes

Especially the really cool ones that are covered in snow and stone and you see a bunch of dirt on the side of the mountains too especially near the peaks well it should happen less now like this peak over here yep pretty much entirely made out of snow and stone a little bit

Of dirt in there but yeah mostly snow stone and i guess gravel too i actually love the addition of this new mountain bomb i hope the devs take it somewhere unique like maybe on the stony mountains like i don’t know maybe like at nighttime kind of like the desert husks

And small in there or something could be kind of cool to see but yeah either way no matter what happens another brand new biome coming to minecraft in 1.18 which is pretty cool now one final thing that i like to talk about here uh this biome

Generation so check this out this is all the plane spiral min here normal world we have like a lake down there and more planes and everything and then up here we have even more planes that is flat and super high up at y 116 this is cool

Generation i like how this works and how there’s height variation in the generation of these bottoms so we’d have a plane’s biome like all the way down there by our river or we could have a plane spawn super high up that feels like you’re literally in the sky it’s

Really cool and then the shapes in here yeah it’s just amazing what the devs are doing with this generation is so cool they definitely deserve at least one applause for for sure that’s where we’re gonna leave it today here are the changes again there are a few changes

That we didn’t end up talking about in today’s video for example the swamp change right here swamps are less likely to overlap cold or dry biomes and they no longer place hanging water swamps are even happier now this is another change we didn’t talk about fixed goat spawning

It’s pretty straightforward and here are a couple other changes that we didn’t talk about some of these changes have to do with mob spawning it should be a little bit more consistent across the board and it should be less buggy and multiplayer some of these changes have to do with grass generating underwater

Big no no cause it creates like grass generates underwater decays instantly yeah leg bomb less random grass less rivers generating in the middle of dry mountain areas you know areas like that at least i’m pretty sure that’s all the planes bottom as you can see by the

Grass color kind of looks like a river though but it’s not less dry rivers biomes that hopefully make a little bit more sense structures generating in new spots and even a brand new biome test snapshot number three was big but that’s also it for today’s test snapshot video
