Hello I’m objects toy cat and Minecraft just released their first snapshot in months and boy is it a huge one they have made massive changes to the way that librarian villagers work which means that if you want to get your hands on mending it’s going to be a little bit Harder but more reliable which is something which is a very good but controversial change they’ve also made huge changes to the wandering Trader so huge in fact that they’re promoting it with this image of a Wandering Trader shooting out Emerald to everyone nearby which is a big claim to make but very Much backed up by how the wandering Trader Works they’ve also made changes to zombie curing trading as well as how mining diamonds and deep sleepwears work this is a very very very big snapshot and your first question is probably is this for 1.21 or what’s the deal with it And is this coming to bedrock and I have answers to both of those questions which we’ll go into right off we mention why they even needed to change librarian Villages you might think like this guy wow librarian villagers have it tough as it is why would they make it harder by Having it rain it’s not the UK in the game right now uh but the interesting thing about this is that Librarians are incredibly powerful they can give you basically any enchanted book but they and a lot of people see that that is the best way to get any instrument in Minecraft which is kind of boring and homogenous but even though it’s op that’s not the biggest problem that Minecraft has the biggest problem Minecraft has with these Librarians which will give you any enchanted book if we find another one around here you’ll find some really really powerful Stuff um this guy is gonna give me Unbreaking and that is an insanely powerful thing so that if you want to get any of the best enchantments you just come to our labor and villager first but also you don’t even know how to do it you’ve got to treat Librarians Like they’re a farm you traded them over and over again until you get the right enchantment in the same way that you plant wheat seeds to get wheat or melon seeds to get melons if you want to get enchanted books you’ve got to plant your enchanted book seed which in this case Is a human being which just doesn’t really feel right or fun because of the very low chance of getting the one that you want people will spend hours looking for it and this is something Mojang sees as a problem the solution to this problem is to take advantage of the Uniqueness of librarians right now there is only one type of librarian as far as the game is concerned but they’re actually going to consider the seven different types that exist tetrally and actually make them different based on the texture so this is a Plains villager it’s the one that you probably recognize The most and a plane’s librarian is the same as any other librarian at present but it’s something they’re going to change in this update so if you have a villager that let’s say was born in a swamp biome he is going to give you very different enchanted books because he’s Gone a different journey to one that is born in a plane spine which is different yet again to one that was born in say a Tiger Biome so tiger villagers are now going to be an entirely different class of villagers when it comes to trading because the enchanted books you’ll get From a guy that looks like this are entirely different to the books you’ll get from a guy that looks like this and this and this and so now bringing your villagers to far out biomes you’ve never been to before actually makes a lot of sense and indeed those trades are going To be different to the ones that come from this guy because he’s a desert villager and honestly the smartest thing about this is how they’ve taken full use of how there are two types of villagers which just exist for aesthetic reasons and made them actually useful by the end Of this video you’ll understand why you desperately want to have a jungle uh librarian and indeed why you want to have a swamp librarian and also indeed the new changes they’re making to the wandering Trader and everything else in this brand new snapshot which by the way is called 23 w31a uh technically Minecraft does have snapshots that lead up to 1.20 or 1.19 or 1.21 but 23w21a just tells us that it’s the first snapshot in the 31st week of 2023 and this snapshot is not just enabled by default when you download it nope instead what you’ve got to do is go to The title this is something that catches a lot of people out and make a brand new world making sure that you have a data pack enabled which is trade rebalance and a fun thing you’ll notice as you do this is that this is technically separated from the bundle update so Whenever the bundle comes out it’s going to be later or before or separate to the trade rebalance which is the big thing they’re trying out for this week and indeed the big thing we’ve seen for the last two months which I think is a really clever change but let’s show you What it looks like on a brand new world because hopefully you’re familiar with the current system but you might be intrigued by the new one which varies based on biome and splits up the enchantments between all of the Villager types that exist so here is my basic mock-up to hopefully help you understand The changes they’ve made to villager trading so here are the five types of villager which come with the five types of Village there is a snowy Plains village where the water is frosted over and they live in igloos there is the tiger village where they have far too many blacksmith chests honestly we’ve Got the plains Village which is the default Village of most people know and love the Savannah Village up which is this red guy over here and then the desert villager which of course spawns in deserts and is very hard to get wood around these guys which is why their Houses are actually made of sandstone instead these are the five types of village that exist by default and if you look at these five types of Village uh right now there is no difference between the Traders from each one to each one however after this update every Trader Type will be the same besides the librarian each librarian so we’ll Place one of these down at each of their little sub biomes we’ve made right here is each of these Librarians will give slightly different trades and to prove that to you this guy will only be able To give you one of three installments because he is a desert librarian he can only offer you fire protection fonts or Infinity which means if we trade with him enough hopefully uh we actually can trade him enough if we trade him enough times only seven today and then we give Ourselves some paper so we can uh do some more maybe let’s just give ourselves far too much paper and so as you see after trading with him successfully I now have the ability to buy Fire Protection One books from him or you know presumably we might get Lucky and get fire protection three or four but at the very least those are going to be the main enchantments that he offers if you go all so and now and just prove this by the way if you do the same with a savannah villager the only Villager are the only trade types he can offer you are knockback as well as binding and sweeping Edge oh that’s Java only so on Bedrock there are actually fewer trades that will offer you but right now that looks something like this we traded him to get to level two wait For him to do his fun weird dance that they do on Java don’t understand it entirely and now it gives me the cursive binding which honestly probably wasn’t worth going for but that is one of just two enchantments he can give you on Bedrock the same thing is true for the Planes villager who after I trade of him successfully will only give me one of three separate enchantments so let’s just trade some more people with him over and over again just uh make sure we get enough this to make him do his weird Java Dance by the way can I just point Out weird Java exclusive thing right here I just during these videos I I know it’s all sorts of weird things one is this trading interface is so weird and messed up look by the way he gives me punch which is one of just free enchantments he can give me and this is The same for every single villager type there are seven villager types in Minecraft and they all have normal books three of them to be precise and then they all have something special which is when you get to the max level so right now I’m gonna buy myself a bunch of Lanterns and just uh get this guy up to the very maximum level he does because every villager type usually has a very good maximum level trade and this is something the Librarians have kind of been the exception to they they might give you a slightly better deal on the Max level but it’s usually not very much right this is something Minecraft wants to change and so when you get a diamond level or level 5 villager you get rewarded with a high level special book and it’s the same for every type of villager which means rather than having To pray that you get say efficiency one of the best trades you can get from a villager instead when you get to the max level you are guaranteed that you get efficiency it’s actually in this case uh guaranteed to be efficiency free it’s not even you know like it might be fawns Free two or one or uh fire protection one two three four Etc in this case it’s guaranteed to be efficiency free which means you do have to combine them together a few times but it’s guaranteed that if you just trade with a librarian enough times if he’s in a desert you’ll Get efficiency if he’s in a savannah you are guaranteed to get sharpness free if he’s in a planes where did my planes guy go did he okay here he is if he’s in a plane spam he’s guaranteed to give you eventually Protection free if he’s in a Snow biome he’ll give you silk touch that’s very variable if he’s in a Tiger Bomb he’ll give you Fortune also very valuable and here’s the fun thing you might have noticed how this entire list has been missing Unbreaking and mending the two most valuable enchantments the Ones that are so good you want them every single thing the ones that right now people will place and break and place and break a leg turn for hours in some cases trying to get that has now been done away with because now if you want to get these in the swamp Village And the jungle Village there is a 100 guarantee that when I get to the max level of this librarian he will give me Unbreaking it’s Unbreaking too which I think is a little bit stingy uh personally if I was choosing this I would say uh you know the trades that You get on the way there are pretty good can you just give us the high level ones if it’s a Max Level trade make it pretty good Minecraft but you get Unbreaking too from this guy and you get mending one the most valuable enchantment from the swamp villager and something Important they mention when they give out this very spreadsheet is that yes swamp villagers and jungle villagers don’t exist yet they still clarify that they’re not going to exist off this update but if you which means you’re going to need to make these Villages yourselves and that means there is an Interesting question what is easier and what is better for the community having this every cyber Village would be the same and just breaking and placing and breaking and placing by the way look at the look at the hitbox on the lectern what is happening with this it’s such a Weird Java thing but um breaking and placing it over and over again is the way that everyone does it right now is it easier to get some villagers in a boat bring them all the way to a swamp biome and then trade all the way up with Them because bear in mind it’s not necessary also don’t you don’t like this I’m sorry but it’s not necessarily easy or anything as you can see um like uh we could technically go all the way up there but it still takes some effort in trading once you get there but at least It’s effort it’s skill it’s a repeatable process you could get multiple many villagers if you wanted to as opposed to the current system where it’s just pure chance over and over and over again is this a fair change I think so I think the um the only downside to it is that So many players have gone used to the old system but the new system is objectively a easier one to do a in my opinion it’s much easier in terms of the repeatability of it at least so it’s easier to repeat and it is also cheaper To do in terms of your time and also it’s a more fun process but it comes with the downside of being less simple I would say I I think easier is the you know maybe people describe the lecture process as easy because it’s mine blowingly dull but at least it’s Something everyone knows how to do and then also the other downside of this new system is it means that you need to have seven types of villager if you want to have seven different if you want to have all of the 28 enchantments or 27 or Bedrock that Minecraft has you need to Have all seven of these biomes which means that having a seed with all seven biomes is probably going to get a lot more valuable and also the art of moving villagers around is going to become more and more important something I’m not sure if Minecraft should be encouraging But it is something they are choosing to encourage and so swamp and jungle villagers are going to become much more common after this update what update are we talking about well let’s quickly mention off we mentioned that the wandering Trader has also been changed a lot of people feel like the wandering Trader has unfair prices and who can blame them so they’re now changing it so that a Wandering Trader has a chance of buying items from you so you could sell him a water bottle which is a pretty decent trade and get enough emeralds to buy some compressed ice has there always Been called compressed ice oh oh that’s weird anyway you can also buy um all the sorts of things you’ve been able to buy before all of the prices have been lowered across the board the wandering Trader is now on a file sale something I I really do quite like as you can see he buys all sorts of weird things from you um but then also he will now also sell you some wood which genuinely might be a valuable trade I’ve got 24 emeralds and I don’t feel like chopping down trees let’s employ the wandering Trader to Give me two whole stacks of spruce planks that’s pretty cool and it’s a great way to getting wood from a biome you’re not necessarily in and so this is now a brand new trade or also sometimes trade with you this is a weird One Enchanted iron pickaxes are now Possibilities so we’ll keep uh throwing them down so we get one of those and also it’s possible to get a potion of invisibility oh look at that chair he looks see you don’t have to go to a cherry blind just to get a few Cherry blocks now you can just find one of These instead that is the brand new potion of invisibility trade it makes sense that he would sell that to you I like this as an addition to Minecraft I think it’s great and then also they’ll sell you an iron Enchanted pickaxe something I think is actually useful for The day-to-day player however I do have something I do have a mild concern about this one overall I think the wandering Trader changes are really really really good because they allow players in certain challenge situations to be able to buy emeralds to get things straight from the wandering Trader such as all Those saplings you’re going to need and all sorts of challenges or beetroot seeds or melon seeds and it means the progression in certain challenges is going to get a lot simpler I think an example of this would be super flat but then I have to say that the super flat Changes super flat as being adversely affected by this because there’s only one type of villager that you can get there and it is the plains villager this villager can only give you four trades and if I’m being honest they’re not particularly inspiring trades do I want To have punch one when I’m on super flat probably not and so I would actually say that super flat is being made worse off by these changes because the wondering Trader receives a buff but the planes villager is just not good enough there I think they should make an exception for Single blind worlds or they should give us some way as a player to terraform the biome underneath our world that would be really cool I mean so many people dream of having a situation like this where you can have your biomes all touched at one point and finding this naturally is Near or impossible for good reasons maybe it’d be fun if we could change the biomes I think that would be the fair balancing point I also think it’s also fair to say that your existing villagers won’t be touched and so if you really like the current system then you’ve got A little bit of time to take full advantage of it but those are the broadly positive parts of this update the slightly less positive Parts in most people’s opinion is the way that zombie villagers work so zombie villagers can be cured and when you do so they give You a discount on their trades from their onwards this is a widely used mechanic however Minecraft is going to make it so only the first time that cure Village is it going to count and eventually it will expire which is a very interesting change to make it’s Going to change a lot of people’s bombs and the other change that they’ve made is if we look back at the 20 you know the kind of a more negative change in most people’s views is the fact that if you look at the seven different buying Villages and the charts of them there Are 28 enchantments available between them but there are more than 28 enchantments in Minecraft something I only realized after I finished making this video uh but interestingly enough you can see that there is no fishing rod enchantments no Trident enchantments and no crossbow enchantments so overall I Would say that the trading you know the trading split between biomes is going to be seen as positive or negative depending on who you are as a player but it’s objectively negative that you just goodbye wondering Trader by the way but it’s objectively negative that you uh When you get a trident and Shaman you won’t be able to do so via villagers and subjectively negative that you have to fish or do other things for fishing rod adjustments and crossbows as well I think that this is a weird set of enchantments to choose and I’m not sure That this this is going to be broadly well received by the community it’s such an obvious change they could have made you know they could have slid those in there just to make these things a little bit better than they are right now this combined to the fact that it’s Unbreaking 2 or efficiency free really does make this seem more like a Nerf as a whole more than it is something uh positive speaking of adding new things by the way it’s not just villager changes but they have massively increased the diamond ore generation rate at the very deepest parts of the World this is interesting to me but there’s not too much to say about it besides they should make mining more rewarding and that’s what they’ve decided to do but something that is much more interesting if your creative player is barrier blocks so Barry blocks would shop as purple as your inventory can Cannot be found anywhere in the creative inventory on either Bedrock or Java instead you need to type slash give at esque barrier and then you can get yourself one of these and here’s the fun thing now you can water log the barrier block which is wild because if you can’t As you can see right here this means you can have floating water blocks because it can’t really Escape it and I don’t actually know if I level hate this but I just think it’s one of the most bizarre features I’ve ever seen like you can tell when it’s barrier water versus when It’s not but you could use this to do all sorts of weird wacky things as a player such as having water that sort of functions like ice because you can stand on it or you could uh have like the water Block in the bit there and then Have one below it and it kind of looks like the water is Flowing out there but yet you can’t stand on it or easily remove it because as uh yeah here’s a fun thing right if you’re in survival mode wow who plays Survival Mode besides Me all the time but um as you can see as a survival player you can’t take the water out so it might be useful for that particular reason but even then I’m not particularly sure also yeah you can place water up into the air like this there’s all sorts of weird options you Could do with this I would love to know what you think is the best one but overall yeah those are the biggest changes they’ve made in Minecraft 1.20 Point who knows actually this could be Minecraft 1.21 it is worth mentioning these changes are coming to tomorrow’s snapshot that was confirmed by this Tweet from David fryers saying soon implying tomorrow will get a brand new beta which has the exact same stuff maybe and some more I’ll let you know if the changes have been made that are too interesting otherwise I imagine it’ll be the same as what we’ve seen in Java just A day later but here’s the interesting question since this is the first snapshot in two months and it’s making such big changes is this just an early Peak at 1.21 the answer is actually no our first Peak at 1.21 will not be coming until Minecraft live which is Expected to be in September October this year um we might see some very early snapshot stuff before then and some of this stuff might be for that but instead this is the snapshot for 1.20.2 so you can expect it to be in Minecraft 1.20.30 or 1.20.40 honestly it’s hard to be sure With Minecraft Bedrock uh but we’re expecting a brand new update next week which is unrelated to this on bedrock and so this will be an upcoming update for job and Bedrock 1.20.2 on Java who have had a measly One update since the uh you know 1.21 whereas Minecraft Bedrock is on 1.20.12 or 1.20.13 and as you all know more updates equals more better and that is just something you need to keep in mind and so yeah I do think this update is a pretty exciting one in that it gives you reasons to make jungle and swamp villagers I do think They could do more on that but as far as how it is right now wait if I if you’re on Java you can’t stand on top of cactuses if you stand on top of them crouching you still take damage what a weird feature or maybe that’s the normal Feature and I’m the weird one Speaking of being the weird one you are the weird one if you haven’t subscribed to this channel because actually did you know greater than 99 of people who Miss toy cat videos aren’t even subscribed to him 99 of blue gets shot by skeletons aren’t Subscribed sadly you can’t subscribe to your own channel and that is something I’d really appreciate if you want to stay up to date with the latest Minecraft news I don’t know how I got that my that score right there but it’s very funny have to agree right I hope That you all enjoyed this video this Minecraft snapshot video and if you want to stay up to date with the latest in Minecraft updates then I don’t know I’m just I’m just promoing subscribing over and over again we hit 1.86 million recently that’s exciting but all I can Think about is wouldn’t it be nice to have two million then no one will bother me about my subscriber count again so if you want me to stop mentioning subscriber counts then subscribe that’s very bad advice actually anyway goodbye foreign Video Information
