nnextcraft – How to terraform Minecraft terrain : Tutorial : Let’s Play : The Minecraft Survival Experience

Hello hello and welcome back to another Minecraft Survival experience video I am next year and you can’t see my face uh no problem you can see it now we’re down here at the Frog Light farm and we’re gonna see uh what we have been able to collect before we get to business that

Is we have terraforming to do but anyway we’re gonna pick up some of these frog lights this is about an hour worth of farming this is pretty good I’d say this is pretty good this is a pretty basic Farm no big deal it’s not meant for efficiency or anything like that but for

An hour I think this is substantial so if you need a bunch of frog lights this is the way to go if you need way more frog lights than this may God help you anyway uh we’re gonna grab these I think and put them into a shulker box take them back to the

Compound and there’s some stuff that I want to show you back at the compound indeed before we get really cracking on all of the terraforming projects that we have for today I say all the terraforming projects really it’s only one big terraforming project we’re going to prepare all of the land we’re gonna

Get everything ready for some some path making and some sort of paddock making so that we can have places to build some cool stuff and it’s a it’s a hard I it it’s sort of A New Concept to me I’m not even gonna lie to you

Um there is a lot that goes into it and I want to cover this over the course of the next few videos so this first one is just going to be all about just preparing the area and that is going to be for us all the area around

The compound so anyway that’s what we’ve got up for today and next episode you have uh path making to look forward to path making and perhaps some Lakes I think that paths and lakes will be good look down there at all the frogs they’re doing good they’re just happy I think

We’ve provided them with a substantial food source in which they can just exist forever I suppose I really hope so unless Mojang breaks my farm but anyway we’re gonna head back to the compound and then take a look at some of the changes we’ve made to the storage

Facility and I will see you when we get there we’re back at the compound and uh I want to show you what’s been going on between episodes uh let’s head down to the storage facility I want to show you a bit of the Expansion Project that I’ve been working on over the holidays

So on this side where we have all the logs I have included The Mangrove uh trees right there and then on the other side I have all of the mangrove planks and we’ve also rearranged everything I took everything out I put everything back in on this side this is all the

Stone stuff all the stuff that we’re going to use regularly and it’s addressed some of the issues that I had with the preview system we have here the light blocks and and sort of the action blocks to do different things like the magma blocks uh and all of the stuff

From the ocean monument and over here on this side here are all the dirt blocks I have everything here except for podzel I don’t know why I didn’t put podzel I just feel like it’s easy to get so I didn’t put it that also don’t collect it very often over here these

Are all of the sort of crafted blocks or blocks that you can use to craft things I know Clay’s in here but it just made sense to me given that framework anyway all this stuff makes sense you could pause the video and take a look at what

I have this is all the the Landscaping sort of like uh plant blocks or or whatever we’ve put on this side all of this stuff that comes from mobs just so I can put that in shulker boxes when I put them on top of the shoulder excuse

Me the hopper up top by the by the bedroom it’s just easy to be able to plant all this stuff and let it all sort of sort down over here this stuff is not sorted this is all my Redstone stuff it’s just here uh in in a single chest

I don’t anticipate ever being uh in need of more than that but if we do need more than that then certainly we can you know expand the system we might expand it further at some point again uh but I just don’t know I I just don’t know we’ll see anyway here’s all the

Frog lights that we collected from the Frog Light Farm let’s go ahead and just throw them in I’m not going to let them sort through the system because I’ve already done that so that it’s already sort of built up what it needs and sort of or inside of the the filter and so

I’m just going to throw this in for the sake of convenience for right now and yeah I think I think that that is everything that I need or want to show you down here I just wanted to show you that we have indeed expanded this thing

And it will continue to expand uh as we needed to for uh for for the rest of of the world uh that third wing I think is going to be the next area that we expand into we will see but anyway here we are on top of the creeper Farm let’s have a

Look at this area over here this is the area that we’re going to work with today this is the area that I want to begin terraforming and what we’re going to need to do is prepare this this area this this land uh for development if you will we’re

Gonna prepare it for creating some paths we’re going to prepare it for uh well we’re going to create some little paddocks and areas where we can put builds we want a little bit of flat area in certain areas so that it makes it easy to to sort of

You know put a build up um I’m gonna put some scaffolding here just so I can come up here on occasion and have a look down and this is a perfect opportunity to sort of survey and show you kind of what I have in mind

I’m going to show you what I want to do before I actually describe it to you so we’re gonna we’re gonna do a little time lapse here in a second of me doing this first zone of the compound area but really what we’re going to do is just basically be trying

To smooth out these lines we’re going to take down a lot of the terrain we’re going to cover up some of these little random lakes and we’re going to essentially just try to blend everything make everything look a little smoother and not as chunky if this doesn’t make any

Sense to you right now it’s totally fine just continue watching we’re gonna get rid of this Lake right here and we will I’m just trying to get an idea here like that link we’re going to keep this little one would probably not this Lake we’re going to get rid of and this one

Over here that will probably go to anyway so uh what I’m gonna do is switch over to the time lapse and I’ll I’ll probably comment during the time lapse just to sort of explain sort of uh what I’m thinking through the whole process and hopefully that’s helpful to you so

Let’s go ahead and get into the time lapse Thank you foreign Foreign so I don’t want to comment too heavy and ruin this this time lapse but really what I’m doing is just I’m removing a lot of land in the area that I actually want to terraform and then I’m creating layers of smooth curves layers of smooth curves so as you see

I’m sort of elevating that’s one of the most important things as you create your new terraformed terrain you want to make smooth um elevations changes uh smooth elevation changes and sort of try to work with what you have in front of you the way to do this I will explain in the

The clips to come in the rest of the video but I just wanted you to get a good visual of what this kind of looks like elevation changes are good and what I kind of have to do is just eliminate the the previous Terrain in a lot of cases and then just reallocate

All of that whatever material to make the new terrain and as you see this is what it looks like and now we’ll actually get in to how to do it okay so now you can see on this side of the terrain that we’ve created here we actually need to start continuing this

Along so what we have is this big hole we need to fix and we want to blend it into that little Mound over there we want to do these Curves in either blocks of one two three five or seven don’t go over seven and it’s all odd

Except for the uh two you can use two blocks don’t go more and you want to sort of blend those together and they’re offset in sort of a diagonal let me show you what I’m talking about here as we continue this first layer always start with the bottom layer and then fill in

The top ones uh to you know to make whatever sort of uh formations in the terrain that you want to so as you see here we have uh five and we want to go that way so let’s pick up this one here go one two three

And then we’ll do one two three one two three actually we’ll just do two and then uh we’ll do one I wanna sort of cut hard right here so we’ll just do the one and then the two and then three you kind of see the pattern right and it’s it’s more or less

Free form and the the best way to do this is to just sort of figure out where you want to go in your head I know in in my mind I sort of want this to to flow around in a natural curve right and I

Want it to link up over there to the the nether portal Mound I don’t know what to call it but it’s going to be that you won’t even notice this when when we’re done or at least it won’t be nearly as prominent we’ll end up you know building

Up a lot of this terrain around here to sort of meet with that so that it it sort of makes sense it looks natural right now it looks like someone just pulled a like a bulldozer and dumped a pile of dirt there but uh we’re just going to curve around here

And we’re going to take advantage of this opportunity to to give us some more room around the compound as well because before the natural terrain was sort of tight around the farming modules on the compound so I’m going to try to give myself a little bit more room it’s only

A little tricky when you’re doing this when you’re trying to blend in like like here right so the best thing that I can say is uh is just sort of get a feel for it go up to your vantage point where you can have a look

And make changes sort of as you go it’s a little tedious and you see it’s a little tight uh up by the nether portal Mound but it actually doesn’t look terrible so what I’m gonna do is just I’m going to fill this in with dirt and

Uh and then we’ll we’ll see what it looks like but I do feel like I’m gonna have to fix that that a little bit over there we may need to blend a little bit more but we’ll have a better idea once this whole thing is actually filled in

So I’m gonna do that and then I will show you what it looks like after the cut all right so here’s what it looks like uh that’s with the fix over there by the mound I I still need to maybe fix a little bit right there it’s kind of it

Looks a little chunky but as you see this sort of curve goes all the way around in a really natural way it looks super good uh definitely better than before um okay so now what we need to do is this next layer right here and what we

Want to do is is uh more or less mimic the the shape the form that we already have but it doesn’t have to be exactly right we can actually have a touch right there at the Apex sort of of that second or I should say the first part of the s-curve

Uh because we’re starting here on the bottom right so let me come down here and we’re going to use those same rules so let’s check and see how many we have here we got one two three and then we can call that one or we can have it

Begin another row we’re going to say I think that that will be a one and then we’ll start going this direction so we’ll do two and let’s do three and then another three and you see we’re already starting to create this nice slope that is sort of

Similar to the bottom one so I think we’re on the right track and I’m just going to continue this around and sort of Imagine in your head what you would do I actually think I might want to take that down um let’s go um this is where the fun comes in right

This is where it it’s it’s sort of free flow and and and and fun you you can start and stop this thing that’s why I always recommend doing this with an outline first you don’t want to just sort of build this thing out it’s easier

To visualize what you want to do if if you make the line then you fill it in go take a look so think in your head of what you might do and and sort of do this mentally this little mental exercise with me uh you can also do this in like um

Like in a like a creative world and just create smooth lines fly up see if it looks smooth uh I mean I that’s the way that I sort of learned how to do this uh initially I didn’t want to mess with my terrain until I’ve made the video obviously but

Uh you know it works pretty well and as you see it does get a little strange when you’re trying to link up with the rest of your terrain and this is where you may need to make some some changes I suppose I may need to go and sleep here

In a second but uh what we’ll definitely do before the next cut is actually we should be able to take a look um let’s try to take a look now before let me see if we can fly up here I’m terrible at landing on on scaffolding I

Can already tell it looks pretty good um so let me let me go to sleep and we’ll probably have another look uh in the daytime just so we can get a better View and I already I’m thinking that this is looking pretty good yeah and again don’t necessarily adhere

Exactly to what you did before it takes a lot of the pressure off of it as well you can see I’m it’s kind of hard because I’m working to try to link up everything with with that condensed like Mountain over there everything else is going to be smooth but I think that that

Will of it will actually add to the whole thing in the end because it’s like it’s a little chunky there and it’s uh you know it’s smooth everywhere else all right so I’m going to fill this in and I will see you when I’ve done this and probably a little bit extra

Okay welcome back we’re on top of the uh the Matterhorn over here and I’ve done pretty much this whole section over here that we started with and this section here which I was just working on and I even started to continue along this other side now this is a massive project this has

Already been many hours I want you to be prepared for that also it’s going to require a ton of dirt so if you don’t have that on hand then you’re gonna have to go and get some but as you see I still have a bunch of this chunky

Terrain that I want to get rid of I’m going to have to take down the mega Beacon and put it somewhere I’m just going to put in storage right now um and I also covered up I don’t know perhaps the astute viewers will see that

I covered up my kelp farm and uh and that’s okay because it’s still under there it’s still working fine I just put a layer of dirt over the top of it nothing is interrupting though with its functionality and uh yeah basically before this project is done I want to have all this

Stuff taken care of over here all of uh let’s see over on this side you can kind of get a better view I need to get this water out of here we’re going to gonna move the water around on the Matterhorn a little bit I want it to be in a

Different place let me go over here on top of the creeper form you’ll be able to see some of um you see it’s just completely interrupting what I may want to do with terraforming because all that water is this going to be a disaster it’s going to be a big

Mess and it’s probably just one water source that’s doing all that trouble but yeah I think having it come down maybe over here into a like a lake which I would like to make as part of this um I suppose it’s like a little mini series on terraforming I think it’d be

Kind of cool maybe there maybe there I don’t know we will see uh as as we go we still have quite a bit of work to do on the terraforming um but yeah we’re definitely going on the right track when we’re done this entire Valley is going to look totally

Different and it’s going to look smooth all the way around and I think this next section I want to do in the form of time lapse and then at the end of the time lapse I’ll show you what we have left to do and how to sort of work

All this stuff in together and I’ll see you then oh Thank you Foreign Foreign All right folks I really hope you enjoyed the time lapse I’m trying to figure out how to use the replay mod so uh bear with me as I go on that that little Adventure I I like to think that they add a lot to my videos I would love

Your input if you think they do I would I would love to hear that so as you see here we have a lot going on that I’ve worked on off camera just using the same principles that we’ve been sort of going over I think I want to connect this part right here

Um and and over there I think needs a little help as well I may want to sort of connect like yeah like this line right here I want it to go all the way around um maybe a little bit more this is why it’s really good

To just fill in that dirt and then and then you can sort of get a better idea of the lines that you want to take I I know that I actually want to cut a little bit more off of this I don’t like how it goes right into the rock face

So I want to have it um sort of continue around just just like this and again we’re using the the principles that I sort of described to you earlier really this entire video is about is about getting into this mindset when you’re doing this terraforming stuff especially in a plane’s biome

It it where you you want to use this this odd number of blocks with the exception of two no more than seven and yeah that that’s starting to look good too I don’t necessarily like how it juts out like like it’s really um sort of a harsh line uh that goes towards the

Slime farm I may want to bring it out just a little bit more so we’re gonna try this I think just uh just to create like a little bit of of uh just a little extra terrain here I I think will look good so yeah okay so we’re we’re just going to

Continue working this line all the way around and and as we complete the line or when we complete the line then I’ll zip back up with elytra and then I’ll have a quick look down and and that’s kind of a tip a little hack uh perhaps

If you will where if you just get a quick look with elytra you don’t spend too much time at the top of like a scaffolding um Tower and and sit there and analyze it forever so I’m just going to look back and be like um yeah so that’s looking pretty good and

Then we can come back and make some more changes and I think I want to add um maybe a little bit over here just because it it didn’t slope off quite enough for my taste for for kind of what I’m what I’m going for so

Uh let’s zip back up and take a look at that yeah that’s that’s really starting to look a lot better and this this area up here is going to give us a lot of room to actually create something I need to sleep really quick um it’s starting

To get dark and and the last thing we want is for a creeper to to walk up and destroy you know put a big crater in in the work that that we’ve been doing so uh always remember to sleep it’s a good practice if you don’t know

Um it still might be a little harsh and I may do a little bit of this work off camera but I think that this has really helped me to work through some of my thoughts on this initial sort of land preparation um for terraforming projects and and we are undertaking a massive terraforming

Project uh yeah that’s looking that’s looking a lot better um you just take it one step at a time and this entire video has been about how to sort of do the land preparation part and and and it’s honestly the longest part and most difficult part because it takes

A lot of time and a lot of dirt but next week we’re gonna get into all sorts of other things like lakes and walls and uh yeah it’s gonna be fantastic look I really hope you enjoyed this first video this primer on how to terraform I have
