In minecraft the noteblock’s timbre can be changed depending on the type of block placed underneath it timbre is just a fancy way of saying the sound a particular instrument makes so the sound of a piano is different than that of a sound of a trumpet or a guitar or a violin or flute Notice that these two instruments are different but the notes are the same but they’re playing the same note in different octaves changing the block type under a note block or placing a note block on top of a specific block type can change the sound of the instrument that you hear so A note block placed on top of wool makes a guitar sound on top of a ice makes a chime sound on top of clay makes a flute sound and on top of wood makes acoustic bass snare is from sand and gravel glass clicks and sticks bass drum stone netherrack bell on top Of a block of gold the lobel on top of a block of iron cowbell on top of soul sand did you redo the pumpkin 8-bit sound is from on top of block of emerald banjo hay bale piano glowstone harp is grass block or pretty much any block and xylophone is the bone block When writing music for the note block it’s good to know the octave ranges of each of the particular instruments each different type of instrument in minecraft has a two octave range from an f sharp to an f sharp you can hear how the gold block is in The upper ranges of the fifth and sixth octaves here followed by the glowstone in octaves four and three and finally on down into the lower range with the acoustic bass in the first and second octaves it’s usually a good idea when writing music to have the lower instruments that play lower notes play The bass lines and the upper notes play chords and melody i made this in-game melodic octave chart to help understand the ranges of each of the melodic instruments but i did not include where the bass drum the snare drum and the clicks and sticks because they’re mostly meant for rhythmic percussive Stuff and not really meant for creating melodies and such so hopefully you found this video to be informative and maybe you’ll use it as a jumping off point to creating your own noteblock inventions Video Information
