Minecraft came out when I was in high school and ever since my friends started playing it and nagging me to join them I always demanded that it was for 9-year-olds only and I would never play the game but after babysitting my nephews Zach and Cody over at my sister’s house recently I played Minecraft for 30 minutes and immediately became addicted all Cody and I did was build a mansion in a snowy mountain and there was something about it that triggered all my Nostalgia playing with Legos and playing other video games so the second I got home I downloaded Minecraft and decided that I was going To build a new logo from my YouTube channel I mean what’s wrong with this one right I didn’t even realize this game had combat until I started playing it myself if you want to see me get killed over and over in normal mode just wait for my next video okay so let’s Just get started on this huge sign I want to build for my YouTube Banner I’m so new to this game I haven’t even created my first world yet boom baby let’s go except I just realized I forgot to name my first world so now I have to Go start over but before I create a new world I have to delete that one and I’m I’m literally such a noob that I was just trying to delete it I accidentally made a copy I swear if I do that again I’m going to jump out of a fifth Story Window you guys better give me some subscribes for that okay so now I’m creating my first world for the third time and it needs a legendary name how about friends with Matt okay let’s put it on creative and obviously I’m switching to Peaceful because I have no Idea what I’m doing and I have no idea why creative mode would even have different difficulty options what is this nonsense did I just spawn underwater as I emerged from the pond I realized I wasn’t using my supercomputers full capability so I went to the settings and I changed the render Distance to be the maximum of 51 chunks now I’m playing like a pro and I can give my nephews crap for having to play this game on their iPads okay so what I’m looking for is like a hill or Mountain that I can use as a backdrop For my sign I’ve got two images in my head that I’m using for inspiration one of them is the Classic Hollywood sign and the other one is this billboard we have in Dallas Texas that has a waterfall I just think waterfalls are so cool so I guess what I’m trying to make Is basically the Hollywood sign with like a waterfall behind it except it’s going to say friends with Matt okay so this really isn’t the kind of world I was imagining while I envisioned making my YouTube Banner because ever since Cody and I built that snow Mansion I’ve fallen in love with Minecraft’s winter Season so I made a couple more worlds until I finally got one that was in the snowy mountains I kept searching through this world until I found literally the most perfect Hill to Stage my sign it’s the perfect height it has the perfect waterfall and there’s nothing in the way Of The View when Michelangelo was hired to paint the sis Chapel he spent the first four years staring at a blank wall eventually the king came to him and said why aren’t you working and he said I am working 20 years later the 16th chapel became the most famous piece of art in The entire world I think Michelangelo and I are pretty similar cuz I spent the first 45 minutes working on this sign by staring at this hill then I decided I should probably build a small model on this flat land here before building the large sign that way I can scale it and Make sure I know what I’m building is going to look how I want it to and guys this is one of the biggest mistakes I made in all of 2023 but first let me say the reason I wanted to build a miniature model first is because imagine if you Designed this huge letter F and then a huge letter r and then you go all the way down friends with Matt and near the end you realize you didn’t have enough space or you realize that you put the phrase on the wrong side of the hill I Mean you can’t just pick up the entire sign and shift it over a little to the right or left to get it perfectly centered with the waterfall you’d have to restart the entire project from scratch I needed to get this right the first time failure was not an option Because there was way too much at stake so I thought I was a genius for building a miniature model first first but after getting the F done I came across some serious problems while trying to design the miniature r i mean does this even Look like an R this is an a this is terrible what a waste of time I spent like 30 minutes trying to make a miniature r i could have used that time to build a fourth of the actual sign I was planning on making okay so let’s Just get started on the project I set out to do to help me reduce the risk of not having this sign perfectly centered on the hill I decided to make a blank stage that would help me Envision where this sign could go to maximize its photogenic wait is photogenic even a Word hang on a second guys I need to look this up okay so the actual word is photogenicity photogenicity photo photogenic photogenicity photogenicity if you just learned a new word like I did then hit that like button and give me a subscribe comment below what your favorite word is Okay so apparently Michelangelo rarely changed his clothes or even bathed it said that his clothes were so dirty and plastered on his body that when he died they needed to be cut and peeled off of him maybe we don’t have that much in common after all listen so I finished Building my stage and I’ve got it perfectly centered with the waterfall in the hill so my sign will maximize its photogenicity using some simple calculations we can figure out the perfect length of each letter so that the phrase friends with Matt will perfectly fit on this stage in order to Do that we’re going to need some numbers the first number we need is to figure out how many blocks long this stage even is the next number we’ll need is how many letters are in the phrase friends with Matt then we take the length of the stage measured in blocks and we divide It by the number of letters in the phrase FRS with Matt that will give us the perfect length of each letter measured in blocks so that when the phrase is spread across the stage it’ll be the exact length of the stage now everybody pull out your calculators and Get ready for some math I counted that my stage is 104 blocks long there’s 15 letters in the phrase friends with math so we do 104 minus 15 because we want 15 blank spaces in between each letter which gave us 89 and now we divide 89 by 15 to see the perfect length of each Letter 89 div by 15 gives us some weird number 5 point whatever whatever whatever and so I decided I would make my stage a little bit longer that way we could use even fractions in fact I decided to reverse this calculation I Decided I wanted each letter to be nine blocks in length then you do 9 * 15 which gives us 135 so we need the stage to be 135 blocks long right wrong you actually have to add 15 to 135 because remember we need 15 blocks that’ll be Blank spaces in between the 15 letters 135 + 15 gives us 150 total artistically speaking 150 is just a well-rounded number here’s an easier way to think about this okay there’s 15 letters each letter is nine blocks plus one for the empty space now you’ve got each letter Is 10 blocks technically okay 10 blocks per letter times 15 letters gives us 150 blocks so I added onto my stage until it was 150 blocks and perfectly centered on the hill with the waterfall if you think I’m doing too much preparation for such a simple sign I want to remind you that In Minecraft you can’t do edit undo you can’t pick up entire structures and move them over we only have one chance to get this right the risks are too big to do this without preparing everything is on the line now with my trusty calculations I could build my very first letter and Not have to worry if it was too wide now when it comes to the height of the letter I kind of just eyeballed it and gave it a guess the very first height I chose I don’t even know how many blocks tall it was but it was the perfect Height there I had my first letter done and it looked great I couldn’t wait to retry making my letter r and after a few attempts I nailed it then I was able to go through and write the rest of the phrase without having to stress if it Was going to take up too much space or not be centered and honestly guys I made about 10 mistakes but they’re so small I bet you don’t even notice for example the first letter I has three blocks on the left side and four blocks on the right in between the words friends and With there’s two spaces but in between the words with and Matt there’s only one space my stage ended up having to be a couple blocks longer because of these mistakes I made but because I put so much time and effort into the preparation of this sign the mistakes are insignificant if I had Not prepared properly then these mistakes could have been catastrophic and I might have had to jump out of another window from an even higher story goodness graciousness we finally got the stressful part of this job done now is the fun part I just had to choose what Colors I actually wanted the letters to be being inspired by my favorite video game franchise Mario I decided to make the letters colorful but choosing the colors for these letters was not as easy as I thought it was going to be I just wanted blue green red yellow however you Don’t really know what these colors are going to look like until you actually build them so I had to go through a few tests and redo a couple letters to get the coloring just right but once I did finish coloring the letters I could not have been more thrilled with the turnout Of this entire project hard work really does pay off especially in Minecraft so now I encourage you to go check out my YouTube channel and you can see this sign in all its Glory all right that’s enough for this video if you’re still watching I can’t thank you enough and Please consider subscribing if you like this content because I’m about to WHAT IS MINECRAFT? An introduction to a blocky sandbox game.
Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not! Let’s explore what Minecraft is all about!
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF MINECRAFT? Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations. Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
IS MINECRAFT VIOLENT? Because combat is part of the game, there are some elements of mild violence. Players can hit and defeat both passive and hostile mobs, as well as other players if playing in multiplayer mode. However, the graphical violence is limited by Minecraft’s visual style and there’s no blood.
WHAT GAME MODES ARE THERE? In Creative mode, you have unlimited resources, immortality, the ability to fly, as well as the ability to destroy any kind of block instantly. This mode is mostly used by players who want to focus on the sheer pleasure of creating things with blocks.
In Survival mode, you explore the world, collect resources, craft, fight monsters, and gain experience points. Breaking different blocks takes work and requires specific tools. You are also bound by gravity and must manage your own hunger and health. Survival mode in Minecraft: Java Edition also has a sub-category mode called “Hardcore” in which you only get one life.
Creative and Survival both have four difficulty settings: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, and Hard. In Creative mode these settings don’t matter very much, because mobs won’t attack you. In Survival mode however, these difficulty settings are very important! They affect a number of factors, such as how often hostile mobs will spawn, how much damage they do, how quickly the hunger bar is depleted, and how fast a player’s health replenishes over time.
