Um what else uh I guess I guess we can just go in otherwise um if you need a short introduction to the political Compass it’s basically this questionnaire you can fill out about different political questions and you can see well what well first of all what kind of Questions there are and then at the end it kind of gives you uh well it calls it a compass but it it kind of puts you in a political Direction um whether you’re um more liberal or authoritarian or whether you’re more conservative there’s kind of there’s a couple um well There’s four four directions so we can look at that at the end of the test I like doing it every once in a while because it just shows you like you know where where you change and a lot of these questions are also kind of kind of Wake so you can dis um you can kind of disagree on with your yourself actually from from week to week and have slightly different reasonings the most interesting thing really is to uh think through what your what your thought pattern is so let’s start right part one if economic globalization is inevitable it Should primarily serve Humanity rather than the interest of transnational corporations um that’s one I strongly agree with um I think yeah uh I’m very very very much my my morals are people focused and I want people to not suffer too much and um transnational corporations who can can benefit I don’t I don’t mind that theoretically if um people generally do not come to harm because of it but that’s not really the case in in reality usually I’d always support my country whether it was right or wrong I strongly disagree with this uh I don’t really feel if my country is very wrong I Wouldn’t support it as a German I think we can particularly kind of uh see this as not not a good idea um our country was incredibly wrong and a lot of people did support it and I would I would hope I do not um although I might also be somewhat Cowardly so I’m not sure if I’m going to uh like join a resistance against it but but uh yeah you kind of get what I’m saying no one chooses the country of bir so it’s foolish to feel proud of it uh I mostly agree with this statement um I I I don’t think like briide necessarily has to be a bad thing uh there can be Avenues where you can be proud of something and and it’s perfectly fine but um an irrational Pride into your in your own country I think is is wrong it’s very unseemly And um well nationalism is not really my my cup of tea our race has many Superior qualities compared with other races so I’m I’m very much uh a person who does not the well I I start getting a lisp there uh I don’t I don’t really like to think In in racial terms and I think ultimately races are kind of completely well a kind of completely is an interesting a kind of artificial like obviously there exist certain differences that you can somewhat categorize but it’s really really vag and that I think people really are mostly people and So I think it’s much more about socialization than any sort of racial traits um so I I I very much disagree with this the enemy of my enemy is my friend um I also disagree with this um do I strongly disagree with it well well I mean I think I really Strongly disagree with It ultimately like there might be ways you can you can work together with certain enemies of your enemy but you might not they might not be your friend either right um an interesting kind of thing that’s been happening is like the in the Polish elections there there been kind of Something happening where like a bunch of parties came together to oppose the peace party which was in power for I think eight years um and this is quite authoritarian so a bunch of parties that don’t necessarily have much in common came together and supported um well sort of support each Other or at least work together to oppose the party in power and and they did win which uh from my perspective very very good development um so it can can work but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are your friends so I I’m going to I’m going to go with Disagree military action that defies international law is sometimes Justified um uh I mean let me see military by international law I I mean I’m not an expert in international law but I think po entally that could could be true I don’t think necessarily that all military action is always wrong Obviously um the the again the example we’re giving is World War II right where like military action seems pretty pretty much like a sensible or like the only option that was on the table at some point um and I I don’t know international law well enough to to say way but Theoretically I guess it could could be but on on the whole I think international law is we understand it I’ve I’ve only like looked into it a little bit um has pretty good rules uh but but still I’m I’m going to say agree I think I might have in the past Said disagree because but that’s kind of what I what I mean you know you can get very different ideas depending on the day and how you take the how you take the question uh there is now a wearing Fusion of information and entertainment um I would say there there Is to a degree I’m not sure if it’s like a now kind of thing uh like if you look back in the past like certain newspapers they always had like very very strong like entertainment and information overlap and and kind of had like the the profit motive in the in the Center of it um you could say like maybe some of these Outlets used to have what they call this firewall where editorial uh control and uh advertising control was separated which sometimes work better sometimes worked more but if we we’re looking at like things like social media and or Twitter particularly Right like this kind of entertainment aspect of information I think is is a bit of a problem and um it kind of the reason why I think it’s a bit of a problem is because it kind of gets you to not think so much about it this and Not think as deeply about it as you would perhaps otherwise although I don’t think that would necessarily have to be the case um something like I think I mentioned this before too like crash course um which is this YouTube series which uh Blended information and Entertainment was is is a good thing I I learned a lot from from that and it can can get people into it so it’s it’s a complicated topic but um there is some worrying aspects right now so I’m going to uh call this an agree oh and we’re done with the first page Excellent let’s see now the economy we’re talking attitudes here not the FTS index mhm uh where are we people are ultimately divided more by class than by national ity um I think ultimately that’s that’s kind of right I come in a bit from a Marxist perspective so I’m going to say agree But uh in in in reality obviously we are incredibly divided by nationality though I think it is kind of artificial and I do think the let’s say the working class of different countries have more in common and more uh more that that they could benefit from if if They could unite then then not and similarly and I think that’s actually more but we’re seeing the the Basi or the capital owning class has a lot in common transnationally and is kind of acting very similarly in its own interests so I would say agree on that one controlling inflation is more important Than controlling unemployment well I mean there’s some sort of connection there and I mean obviously the question is aiming at like what central banks do in terms of uh controlling inflation because they their kind of biggest worry is to keep the inflation at a certain level we saw This again with like the price shocks in Europe and they kind of one of the Avenues that they do that is basically by um increasing unemployment to to weaken Labor’s power and I personally disagree with that uh obviously like at the at the edges like hyperinflation and Things like that is is very very troubling But ultimately I think people should have the option for good employment and and that’s the kind of the most important thing so I think really making sure that everyone who wants to work and can work uh is able to have fulfilling work that that is Helpful to to them and the community and um generally to people is is the most important thing and should um go off inflation inflation is really mostly a problem when it does not um when it interferes with these other more positive goals uh because corporations cannot be trusted to volunt protect the Environment they require regulation I I incredibly strongly agree with this I think we see this more and more um especially with like global warming it’s really not working out it’s not it’s not like the regulation is is working either but that’s kind of more because I mean it’s obviously a bit more Difficult but we are definitely screwing up our our stated goals in like the Paris climate agreement and things like that and there’s a lot of other things like over fishing and stuff that’s also we kind of losing the battle of what we wanted to to achieve or ostensibly said we want to achieve Because um corporations and I guess just people’s personal interests are at odds with what what kind of humanity as a whole needs for having a a good ecosystem so regulation is is definitely important it’s not the only Avenue but it’s it’s one that I think just makes a Lot of sense and should be should be used wherever ever we can from each according to his ability to each according to his need is a fundamentally good idea um I I don’t completely agree with this one uh I I would mostly say I disagree with it I Mean kind of I I often agree with the people who come from that kind of uh point of view but I do think people who and it’s kind of in the middle I would say right like I I do definitely think everyone’s fundamental needs should be met Um and and people who can contri contribute more should try to uh do this but I think they can also uh benefit personally from this to like I think where there’s like a give and take you can have you don’t have to go um Only One Direction or only the other Direction the Freer the market the free the people I definitely strongly disagree with this I think uh incredibly free markets can can make people incredibly unfree because they have the um they they are in specific situations where they they have only a few very limited options um which is like you know basically Work as specifically given job that people who who have Capital power or um offer them or die you know I mean that’s that’s at the very at the most strongest uh framing of it really really the problem so I I don’t think uh free markets make people free necessarily uh They they are not necessarily a bad thing like certain aspects of free markets um I mean every Market should be regulated and is really regulated right like either either through a structure that that is um uh in power through well political means or just because of the power of The market right like monopolies things like that um so so I think you kind of get where I’m coming from there it’s a sad reflection on our society that something as basic as drinking water is now a bottle branded consumer product I mean uh I it it is a little bit right I Mean it is it is a bit sad um I mean there obviously there are some differences in water and as long as you have good and free access to drinking water generally I don’t think it’s it’s it’s bad but I’m overall and I’m not like you know I wouldn’t ban ban Warriors there’s definitely also differences in like taste and stuff that that Mak sense but um if if you’re just kind of talking about like consumerism right basically that’s that’s what this uh question is is hinting at it is a bit of a a sad thing like even water is bottle and Marketed and even if there’s like not very much difference or if like it’s actually harmful for you like in the US there’s this massive Trend to I forgot what they call it like it’s not it’s pure water purified water I think which has like a lot of minerals and vitamins Taken out of it and it’s actually quite bad for your body I I hear but the marketing kind of makes you think it’s like you need this pure water you can’t have normal water uh and that’s a sad reflection on our society for sure sure uh land shouldn’t be a commodity to Be bought and sold I think this is actually kind of true this is one of the even though I do own some land myself and that’s that’s the world we’re living in ultimately it it probably is better if there is not like a market for land because people everyone has the need to Live and um kind of this this rent seek Behavior specifically for land and um housing is is one of the things how a lot of laborers value gets extracted um by people who basically don’t do anything but owning it um obviously gets a bit more complicated if there’s some Sort of agreement where if there’s like you know a landlord that actually does take care of his building then you you you can kind of make an and it’s well regulated you can kind of make an argument for this to be different um but but overall like this kind of Ownership of of land is is certainly something that I I I see in a relatively negative light currently I mean the idea before was like if if you can uh if you can make land owned by people then someone will take care of it and it’ll like take care of things like The tragedy of the commons but I mean clearly that’s not really what’s happening it just like adds other tragedies so you might have to have like some sort of organizing body that uh decides what what and how land gets used um but we definitely can think of like Alternative forms of organizing this I would say so I’m not going to say strongly agree like because of what I just laid out and where where are we it is regretable that many that many per okay one second it is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who Simply manipulate money and contribut contribute contribut all right contribute nothing to their society um yeah I mean I I do think so there’s like uh certain certain types of banking that are very detrimental to society that should be well regulated or even abolished and so Um that is that is a problem like it it would be better if everyone does work that is socially beneficial obviously uh protectionism is sometimes necessary in trade um this is uh I mean I would even strugly agree with this this is just true like and in the world We live in you need to protect your your smaller business sometimes um to to be able to uh grow uh this kind of like what the resource course uh resource resource curse uh that Africa and other resource Rich Nations suffer from kind of talks about and it’s also like if you Look at I think I mentioned this because I think I actually went this far in the political Compass before um this is what the United States did when they when they got big this is what uh the what England did when when it got big like it kind of protected Itself from um you know European uh competition um it’s what ja Japan did it’s what Germany did after World War II to get bigger it’s also what South Korea did a little bit later to get bigger and kind of once you’re at a at a high level A very what you used to call a developed country or very a very wealthy country kind of you can suddenly be like well actually free trade is the best because it is the best for you it’s good for you if you have like a very powerful State Uh station or situation where you can basically exploit other less uh developed countries or wealthy countries so I I do agree protectionism is sometimes necessary in trade for your own Count’s development the only social responsibility of a company should be to deliver a profit to its shareholders well So if you have like decent regulation around it I think you could could kind this this kind of like the um the underlying idea the question is like are you talking about long-term or shortterm profits and I mean it it kind of depends how you how you think about it But uh I mean I’m I think I’m going to say disagree because it’s kind of like I I do think in in the world live in social responsibility should be put on companies to to do certain things like you know uh pay living wages these kind of Things uh the question is like now how do do you interpret interpret the the question are you saying well if all of the rules are well in place and you know the environment is protected and labor is protected and things like that then yes or do you say no uh the social like What we mean is that these social responsibility ities need to be put on on these companies so I’m I I think I’m going to interpret it the second way and say disagree the rich are too highly taxed this is completely uh an insane view if you hold this they are taxed much much Lower than than like middle class people and not as wealthy people they they I mean in absolute terms they might sometimes spend more even unless they have like incredibly good um accountants but percentage wise they are not not paying their fair share and they should pay their fair share in My opinion like you you kind of need to have like some sort of wealth tax in my opinion and definitely inheritance tax but I think we’ll come uh towards this later again though those with the ability to pay should have access to highest stands of medical care I disagree with this Um do I disagree with it strongly though I mean I think I think I like for most for most Medical care I think it should really be be socialized right like people on a needs basis should get it and you shouldn’t like whether you were in some way financially or monetarily successful Or were born into a lot of monetary success should not mean that you get better healthare on the whole I I think I I disagree with this um yeah I mean that’s that’s basically it I I I think in an Ideal World would not be the case and people well a there Would be enough Medical Care to go around even though I think we’re going sadly in the other direction where Medical Care is becoming much more individualized and become much more expensive because of this um so it’s not not the world where we’re going towards and not definitely not the world we live In but um I do I do think it should be the world we’re in govern government should penalize businesses that mislead the public yeah strongly agree exactly if you mislead the public or if you lie in your advertisement on things like that you should be penalized you should be Penalized very harshly um perhaps to a degree even that you’re your business goes bankrupt depending on what you dick that’s just um that’s basically how to keep the Market Fair right like there’s there’s people who didn’t lie couldn’t lie as much as you and now you did and You you’re going to be punished for this I I think that makes absolutely absolute sense like things like the I talked about this as well I mean this the same the same Association has come up in my mind um the uh what was it called I I don’t have it on my head Right now but there was this massive German and I think General European no it was a German Scandal about tax evasion and that kind of thing although it wasn’t really like well I guess I was lying to public officials so I I do think that kind of Thing um should should be very strongly penalized a genuine free market requires restrictions on the ability of Predator multinationals to create monopolies that’s kind of what I was talking about before um I agree with this like uh in this idea of a free market where people are actually free To um do Commerce with each other I I do think you need to uh stop monopolies and yeah maybe I strongly agree here okay so let’s see uh I think this is oh we already 25 minutes which is quite of a long a quite long episode for me so I Think we’re we’re going to uh put a little break here I’m just going to whoa what happened there we go interesting I wonder what happens when we’ll see uh we put a little break here I I’ll just actually continue
