On this the st. Patrick’s Day episode of oMG craft we’re gonna talk about particles oh and welcome to oMG craft I’m your host oMG Chad I hope you’re having a fantastic st. Patrick’s Day we are answering an email and this email comes from just Evergreen I was wondering if You would show us how to use the slash particle command this would be very helpful to map makers thanks just evergreen for sending that over absolutely if you didn’t know what all those particles like when you take a potion or critically hit another player or magic happens All of that is obtainable by a command the slash particle command so let me show you a few tips on how to use it so here we are in a little single-player world and to show it off I’ll do the simplest thing that you can always fall Back on if you don’t remember all of the tips that I’m about ready to give you if you just do slash particle and you can just do slash P and then tab autocomplete hit enter luckily the game gives you a really good breakdown of what everything is So first let’s do slash particle and then you can even tab autocomplete to see all of the different particles that you can choose from let’s choose just a simple one there’s a cloud particle one there we go next is where this particle will take effect and You can use these Tilda’s to just choose just around you next is how large they will be the D in the X X D X Y Z yd + Z d stands for direction so we’ll make this one block wide let’s make it we can We can make it really tall let’s do a hundred blocks tall and another block wide just like that next is the speed and you’ll see that I’m going to put this as pretty low because you’ll see that speed is actually by default really really fast So and if you put it something to like above 10 or 15 you basically never see it at all next is how many of these particles so if you just want one particle that might not be that much the cloud particle is kind of small so we’re going to Do a whole bunch of particles we’ll do a thousand particles and then the mode could be either at the person like you can say like @p for the player at a for every everyone or our for random player but we’re not going to use that but you Can add that to your command if I hit enter whoa there you go you can see the particles that I created let me go into f5 mode there we go and you’ll be able to see this a little bit better there you go you can kind of see that’s the Cloud particle and luckily minecraft makes it really really really easy to test out other ones because you can still tab complete even if you are in the middle of your command so I’ll hit enter whoa that was the big explosion now you might be thinking there’s no sound well that’s right you’re just Using the particle command you’re not actually causing the effect to actually happen this is this is just the particle there’s some really cool particles in here fireworks sparks there you go fireworks Sparks is a great way to show off the speed so if I put this at point Five wow do they go crazy I can set this even to let’s say one BAM and they kind of fly all over the place we could set this to 10 or 10 you know and if we even try to set it 200 you basically can’t See them the game locks up oh gosh oh it’s frozen oh the particles were moving much too fast for this game and I think I may have just Oh oh man one frame every three seconds oh gosh okay there we go now we’re back so you can see that speed does it doesn’t Need to be large at all no so there are some really cool other particles that are inside of Minecraft that you may not know about these are like secret particles one of them is footsteps so let me get what is it actually footstep there we go check this one out now it’s Hard to see but do you see those little squares those are Minecraft footsteps and using command blocks you could have them follow you around and that neat now they’re turning their glitching a little bit but yeah that’s normally what a Minecraft footstep looks like isn’t that a cool looking particle I didn’t even Know that existed until I started doing sort of doing this episode and using this technique you can go through all of the different particles magical crit there’s and that’s a cool one you can change the count so this is only a hundred we could also bring down the Length so there we go it looks more condensed it’s very simple to change all of these properties and don’t forget that you can here let’s do large smoke look at that you can also put all of this into a command block so you can do the same thing you don’t need to do Slash but you can take everything that we just did copy it and then paste it into here and we can take away this slash now one thing because the commands tend to not be all that big whenever you are doing your particles because most of Its it’s very simple I like to test it out in my chat here the one problem the chat is that there’s a character limit and the cool thing about command blocks is that there there doesn’t have to be a character limit but the downside of command blocks is that it’s much harder To tab autocomplete and for someone oh I’m in my get out of here I’m in my I or C client um for someone who doesn’t like typing like me I like to autocomplete in the the chat which if you’re in the command block you if I hit tab I can’t Autocomplete so you just have to remember exactly what all of your commands are and that is a little bit about particles you don’t forget that you can use particles with commands in your game along with the sound effect the play sound effect and that will create more dynamic and rich maps for You I hope you learned something interesting on this oMG craft if you liked it make sure you subscribe at youtube.com slash
