Showoff all that hard work you’ve done in Minecraft Wow finding your way home with an amazing beacon that shoots into the air its beacon blocks hello and welcome to oh em gee craft I’m your host oMG Chad this is the show that’ll teach you how to become a Minecraft expert in No time today we are taking a look at the beacon block big a block has been in Minecraft for a while now and it is interesting because it can give you status effects based off of a radius of blocks once you have it set up correctly this is an a late-game Item that you should get after you’ve spent a lot of time underground mining and possibly well you have to destroy the wither so it’ll be a little bit before you can get your very own beacon but once you do let me show you how to Use it here is how you craft a beacon this is how you’re going to get started once you kill the wither you will get this nether star you’ll use that as your foundation for the beacon it uses obsidian on the bottom and glass on the top and you get this awesome looking Block looks like this once you place it in to the world now you’ve probably seen these before and they have this epic beam shooting out whoops shooting out of there we go that’s how we right-click shooting out of the top of it well you need items below it Before you can start using the beacon block you need four layers actually let me just build this up obviously you’re not going to use beacon blocks to had to build your layers but you can use a whole bunch of different ores in the game to do this you can either use gold Iron which is what I recommend diamond or emerald blocks to make the foundation first you’re going to have to start off with a 3×3 which is just like this and this is the least amount of emeralds that you need in order to activate your beacon and see As you can see I didn’t even click into it and it has activated once you do that you are able to get to a tier your first tier of options you can either choose speed or haste one or the other that’s the only thing that you get and then Over here some stuff is changing this might make you think that you’re also getting something over here this is unlocked much later you’re just choosing one or the other of these primary tiers the one that you have selected is the one that you have chosen and and once These other ones open up here we’ll put some more blocks down here just to kind of show you first you need to fill in all of the beacon block you can’t have it be Hollow as much as we all wish that it could be hollow you have to make sure that every Single block is filled in now I’m doing something that you don’t have to do a you don’t even have to use emeralds and diamonds like this I suggest you just plain-old use iron because it’s the cheapest block it’s the most readily available block but I’m also demonstrating something that you can do Is that you can mix and match let’s say you want to show off two friends that you have some emeralds and you want that first top player to be emeralds or diamonds or what-have-you you can do that if you want then you get your secondary power let’s go ahead and Choose jump boost here now I need to do one more step I need to grab an oar so let me grab it out of forget materials here we are let me grab an iron ingot but you can use emeralds or diamonds or gold as you can see inside of the interface here all Of these so once I choose something let’s choose jump boost here you have to feed the beacon and or one of these so that it will activate once again this is interchangeable so I suggest using the cheapest item which is definitely going to be iron once you do that it has been Kind of locked in you can open it up and you can see that that is chosen if I hit II you can see that I have the jump boost applied and as it goes down it will sort of re-up itself so it’s at five and then it jumps to Eight there because it keeps being applied you can see let’s go over here whoo you can jump just a little bit higher I think it’s I think it’s one and a half blocks so if I put down a fence you can see that I can jump over the fence that I put down whoo you normally can’t do that it’s amazing if I want to change this it’s pretty simple click in and then I’ll have to feed it something else I don’t suggest feeding the emeralds those things are hard to find but now you can see speed and my jump boost is Wearing off so now I have speed applied to me which is a really really nice enchant now you can whoop set you can build these out up to four layers deep so this deep I’m going to go ahead and fill this in off-camera so here we go I finished building all that I didn’t screw up my pattern of using all of them so you could obviously put gold in here if you wanted but now we have access to the secondary power now you can do two things either you can make your primary Power double by choosing this and so now I have if I go ahead and throw something in there here I’m going to grab a whole bunch of these if I activate that now instead of just speed I’ll have speed too which is really nice and as we saw When we were activating the primary that will change depending on the other one the primary that you that you switch or you could have one primary and a secondary that’s different if you choose regeneration let’s go ahead and throw these guys in there and hit enter there We go so now we’ll have regeneration and then once this speed one goes away I believe it was speed whoop yeah just speed there we go there there there it is so now that’s what happened was it didn’t apply because I had speed two and Was going to take away my speed to to give me speed one the game was just being fair so that’s how this this interface works now one more thing I do want to point out is that you can do some really cool stuff where you add another layer onto the edge here just Like this and you’re going to be able wait do I need that one no yes wait maybe so there we go that was what’s confusing me you can add another layer onto your beacon just like this you can see that I added it just kind of Extruded it out and I can grab another beacon let’s say I had another one of these I can put it down and it will share the resources below it which is really neat so now let’s say I believe on this one I had speed and regeneration let’s choose haste and a regeneration And accept that and then over here we’ll do speed one and two so now we’ll have speed two which is kind of nice and if I want to go even further I could extrude this even more and then I could fit two more beacon blocks onto this structure by adding a few more Resources now if you’re wondering how many resources am I going to use well in that first structure oops I am screwing all sorts of things up in this first structure where we’re not looking at the gold blocks basically we’re looking at the first thing I created it would take 164 blocks of whichever or you decide be iron gold diamonds or emeralds 164 that’s like a lot of its to two and a half well two stacks in 36 blocks the next tier up if we remove this bottom tier so one tier lower I guess I should Stand say instead of up is 83 blocks then the one tier lower with just two layers that’s 34 blah and then this first one is just nine so you can get an idea of how much you’re going to need there in order to have all of this this beacon power now We’ve added a whole bunch of beacons and they’re all going to be able to be activated we could you know say jump boost to here you know before I believe yeah I was like where did my where my diamonds go before I believe that I did regeneration and haste let’s change that To haste – there you go and man we would just be so crazy next to this beacon if we wanted to we could do regeneration and resistance OOP no I want regeneration there we go you can see all of these things being applied to me there we go we just got our Regeneration and resistance I mean pretty epic just by using by adding a few more layers onto our beacon now a few other things to note is that these beacon beams can be changed so let’s go ahead and grab some some stained glass and this can be done with either panes Or it can be done with full blocks so if I go over here and just grab something like this here you go if we put down a block on top of man I’m having right-click issues today there you go you can see that it changes to the color Of the glass that we added on top of it and Boop there we go you can also change these around by layering on top up to four pieces of glass I believe some reason I thought that that would make it lighter but I guess I’m thinking of the white stained Clay white stained glass will lighten the beam as well so you can do up to four to choose a rainbow of colors with your creations and there’s a lot of guides online on how to get the very specific color that you want which i think is really really really neat and Finally I wanted to point out that each of these beacons each of these layers will reach a certain distance of blocks away so let’s say the full the full pyramid will reach up to 50 blocks away and that’s a radius of blocks so your diameter would be 100 Blocks all the way across now one thing to note is that this also works downward so it’ll go 50 blocks down but because this beam and it’s kind of represented by the beam going all the way up in the air because the beam goes up this is a Good way to remember it that it goes 255 blocks up basically to build limit if you are all the way down at the bottom so a pro tip is to build this under ground but if you do keep in mind that these beams need to reach to the sky if There is a solid block on top of them just like this you’ll see and I’ll add this block on top of all of them they won’t work and they won’t give you your effects once these effects go away there we go we’re done and that’s it so you Need to make sure that they reach to the sky in order to get all of your effects if you build this underground to get the full build limit of the beacons and one final little bit is that beacons can be used in the overworld where you normally Spawn or the nether or the end so you can use beacon blocks and those beacon pyramids all over the place which is really really cool I hope you enjoyed this episode of OMG craft if you liked it give it a like down below or comment and let me know
