Hello everyone my name is pixel riffs and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide hope you guys are having a good day in today’s episode we are going to do something probably equally as explosive as yesterday’s episode although without so much of the TNT instead we are gonna return to our old Friend the channeling trident so I’ve made myself a second channeling trident after I lost the first one in a certain incident yam may have accidentally thrown at a creeper in self-defense and blown up all of my stuff with a charged creeper explosion plus some Lightning but today we’re not even going to touch Any creepers in fact we are going to go to a place where no mobs spawn at all because we’re gonna head out to a mushroom island find ourselves some mushrooms and explore a brand new easter egg that has only just been added to the game in Minecraft 1.14 but before we do That I thought I would explore something that people have mentioned in my comments quite frequently of late people have asked me why I don’t enchant my shield with unbreaking and mending and on the surface of course it makes sense because it’s an item with durability eventually it’s going to break having Unbreaking on it would stop it from breaking quite as quickly and having mending on it would allow me to restore my XP like restore the durability of it by gaining levels right so it seems like a no-brainer on the surface but my justification for this so far has been That shields are pretty easy to reproduce compared to stuff like diamond armor which you really don’t want to break because diamonds are kind of a finite resource you have to go mining for them you can’t really farm them unless you’re trading like Opie armor from villagers and so forth you’re Probably gonna have a tough time getting those diamonds back in the grand scheme of things compared to iron which can be farmed and a shield if you remember only takes six wood and one iron to create and then even the wither skull thing now we actually have a banner pattern for Which I think is in my backup gear chests in here so basically anytime i want to remake this shield i can do so incredibly easily however i felt like some people in the comments had a bit of a point when they were like you’ve got tons of mending books you’ve got tons of Unbreak books now why not in the grand scheme of things like what have you got to lose and while having another many item probably means that like more levels are gonna get channeled into that while I’m trying to repair my other tools it may as well we may as well actually enchant The shield with unbreaking and mending to prove that we can so I’m gonna first off point out that shields cannot be enchanted in an enchantment table like I’ll put some lapis in there just to prove that I’ve got any lapis hello there it is yes I’m gonna put it in the Enchantment able to prove that you cannot enchant a shield just standard in an enchantment table it doesn’t really work that way however if you have unbreaking and mending books you can enchant a shield using those in an anvil so that’s what we’re going to do and That’s why I’ve got a ton of levels that I just farmed up over at my guardian farm let’s quickly find ourselves yet we’ve got three unbreaking books here because basically anything with durability can be enchanted with unbreaking and mending and that includes a couple of other items which for the Sake of it once again I’m also going to in chart with unbreaking and mending today and people are probably going to think that I’m a little bit crazy for doing so but never mind we’re gonna do it anyway first of all I’m breaking and mending only costs two Levels to combine into a single book so that’s nice and easy and then we can put those on the shield for a total enchantment cost of six this also means our shield gets that lovely enchanted glow to it so enjoy that distracting you in the bottom left of the picture at all Times so here we are with an enchanted shield and that should actually break a lot less quickly it should it should break her very slowly now which is good because we’re probably going to be fighting some pillages at some point if not this week then next week and I kind Of need my shield to be at full capacity at all times so it kind of makes sense to at least have unbreaking on it and mending is kind of the icing on the cake next up another item with durability that we can enchant with unbreaking and Mending is a set of sheers and normally I resist enchanting sheers at all because they are so easy to break you can shear leaves almost instantly and with unbreaking obviously those shears will last a lot longer but they don’t have a great deal of basic durability to Begin with if you take a look at a set of shears let me find a nice tree that I don’t mind chopping down here we go actually we may as reclaim all of the leaves from over here at the TNT tree farm let’s just tear through this entire batch of leaves and Once we’re done breaking them you’ll see that the shears have actually reduced in durability quite a bit 238 durability is not much when you can break blocks this fast in fact if you get one of those large oak trees I’m fairly certain that those generate with about 200 leaves on Them so taking down an entire large oak tree like the largest oak tree that you can generate is probably going to burn through a full set of shears pretty quickly having said that now we can have unbreaking on those which means they won’t break quite as fast and Mending them while it seems a little bit weird and you have to remember to mend them before they break will actually be you know a renewable set of shears which is fine and it will save you on iron in the long run if you can be bothered to Go and mend them after every tree you shear which I I imagine some people might not but once again just for the sake of it and because we can I’m gonna put on Breaking and mending on these shears so that’s another unbreaking book and another mending book costing the two Levels and then to add those to the shears once again six enchantment cost I think we should probably give these shears a name while we’re at it so I’m going to call them sheer delight because hopefully they will be a delight to use and obviously with that little hit in Durability that they’ve taken from cutting down these leaves I will need to get myself a an XP farm somewhere around and and mend those but hey we have a permanent quote-unquote set of shears now we’ll see how long those actually last because I I tend to be a little bit Absent-minded when it comes to how much I’m shearing stuff hello everyone pixel rifts from the future here so when I recorded this segment I was regrettably wrong about the amount of things that we had not yet enchanted with unbreaking and mending so I have come back from the Future don’t worry everything’s fine I have come back from the future to enchant two more items with unbreaking 3 and amending because one item that we have not really covered at all in this series because I don’t really feel like it’s all that relevant to minecraft Anymore is a carrot on a stick you can get that by putting a fishing rod together in your crafting table where the carrots you get yourself a carrot on a stick in fact it actually has to be at a diagonal it’s a shaped crafting recipe reason which is a little bit weird However when we put this in the enchantment table you will see that this cannot be enchanted in the same way that a fishing rod does however it does have durability and the durability is actually taken up by you riding a pig with a saddle while using this carrot on A stick because the pig can actually be led around with a carrot on a stick I do not have a pig with a saddle to show you guys this but bear with me while I go and find a pig real first hi hi friend will have a carrot on a stick do you Want to follow me with that or do I have to actually be riding you too no it looks like you’re interested okay very good so the carrot on a stick will not have its durability consumed until you place a saddle on this pig you don’t need to worry about taming it or Anything you can literally stand on its back like so and Here I am riding a pig which is something we haven’t done in this series at all but once I get the carrot are sticking to my hand the pig starts trundling along and he will walk In much the same way that a horse does but you kind of have to use the care on a stick to guide him in a specific direction and eventually he will start to nibble on said carrot on a stick he’ll get a couple of good chomps in and that will actually mean the Characteristics durability decreases somewhat now I’m not sure if this is down to like how many blocks you’ve traveled I really should have looked up this mechanic the main reason to have a pig with a saddle on it was because horses weren’t originally a thing in Minecraft and so you had to use pigs With saddles to get around and it was kind of fun at the time it also led to an advancement or an achievement I guess they were at the time called when pigs fly which was essentially you would drive a pig off of a cliff of a certain Height the pig would take a little bit of full damage you would get the achievement I think it had to be like five blocks or more enough for the pig to take full damage basically which was a little bit cruel and the advancement Is no longer in the game but as it as it is you can still a ride a pig around town all day long and I’m surprised that this has not used up any of the durability of the care on a stick yet I could ride all the way around found his Forge and it still hasn’t decreased the durability how strange ah that’s why you can actually boost the pig using a carrot on a stick you can right click with it to speed the pig up for a short amount of time I thought the durability actually naturally decreased as you went around Apparently not but we’re coming through this is really quite funny and the other pic over there seems incredibly confused but might actually be following me because I’ve got a carrot and a stick there we go let me give you another boost real fast Oh a piggy and you sort of walked over a Block there nope there we go he’s picking up speed let to ride him on down into town so naturally if this is your preferred form of transport you might want to enchant this carrot on the stick with mending and unbreaking because as you can see it’s only got four Durability left after boosting the pig three times and it’s only got 25 durability maximum so considering that it has durability and considering I made a promise to enchant everything it was possible to enchant with unbreaking and mending there we go we’re gonna do this we have an unbreaking and mending carrot On a stick that’s something I never thought I would have and probably something I will never use again but worth it worth it for the pink riding demonstration last but not least I do feel like we should probably enchant a diamond hoe with unbreaking 3 and Mending and I already have one here with unbreaking 3 so thankfully I don’t have to waste another unbreaking 3 book on this thing and I can just give it mending like so there we go so now we have an unbreakable hoe effectively I mean it’s it can still technically break But I don’t think we will ever use a hoe enough to break this unbreaking 3 mending hoe and we can always mend it if we wanted to nevermind the fact that we’ve got tons of diamond hoes from raiding those woodland mansions I think it’s nice to have one of those anyway Back to the last thing I wanted to enchant and finally you might be wondering what else we could possibly add unbreaking and mending – what else in the whole of Minecraft has a durability value on it aside from all of the tools that we’ve already covered Well let me tell you ladies and gents you can add unbreaking and mending – a flint and steel so that’s the last one we’re gonna do here today let’s grab unbreaking 3 and amending once again oh yeah mending is all there in the Shilka box we’ve only used five Of those books that I traded from Mendelssohn before the updates so still got plenty of those left let’s make sure we put them that way around and another six levels to add this on to the flint and steel let’s call these the eternal fire starter there we go and with Sixty-four durability of course that’s probably going to break relatively quickly but once again it’s the kind of thing that you don’t use all often so you can mend it whenever you feel like it and you never need to use iron ingot or Flint again so once again rendering Flint even more useless than It was before but that’s fine we can trade Flint with I think Fletcher’s now so actually pretty great right that’s that over and done with I hope you guys are happy now that we’ve enchanted everything we possibly can with unbreaking and mending time to go out and visit one of those mushroom Islands Welcome back and I almost made the silly mistake of sleeping and skipping through the night which I often do if we finish up whatever I’m doing the first half of the video and it’s night time I usually sleep in the nearest bed before we move On to the rest of the video so I can continue recording during the day however that would have been a silly move because what we’re actually after here is a thunderstorm and of course the weather cycle is reset when we skip through the night by sleeping in a bed So I’ve actually come out here to the mushroom island in the dark although we might spend a little bit of time lighting this place up here and there and we’re gonna wait for a thunderstorm because a lightning strike now has the ability to turn mushroom cows into something else or not exactly something Else but a variant of mushroom cows so I’m gonna wait around here for a thunderstorm to start and that we’re gonna see what effect our new channeling Trident will have on one of these hapless cows at least waiting around for a thunderstorm to start gives me the Chance to return to my guardian farm and mend my new mending flint and steel and shears there we go get a few levels back from all of the enchanting as well great stuff I should probably put my upper back on though cos the thorns on these Things does pack a punch oh oh it’s happening okay it didn’t take that long after all great stuff I decided to just hang out here in farm XP while I’m at the Guardian farm and ya know the Thunder is the Thunder is happening right let’s collect up all this XP and Get over to the mushroom island sometimes storms really don’t last all that long so hopefully we’ll have enough time to do some of this let me throw all of this fish in the chest real quick I’ve also been cleaning out of these chests because they tend to get a little Full occasionally but let’s grab some cooked fish from one of these others not really that much alright let’s let’s just go with what we have for now kind of action stations all of a sudden and let’s take the nether portal over back to the mushroom island and yeah let’s Take advantage of this storm while we can now while it is still possible to do this with natural lightning strikes of course it’s gonna be much easier to see this effect in action if you have a channeling trident so I’m gonna take square aim at some of these cows and bam The ones in the affected radius turn into brown mush cows because of course these ones have a red mushroom why not have one that has a brown mushroom this is actually part of a kind of extended campaign by one of the developers to get this added as a Feature and not only are they just a nice-looking mob I mean they have they kind of have this almost golden copper II kind of hue which is really neat they still have all the functionality of a regular mushroom cow except when milked they will give you a Variety of suspicious stew if you feed them a flower first so instead of just getting mushroom stew from these guys what you’re actually getting is a chance at a suspicious stew now I’m gonna convert a few of these if I can as long as on my aim is a little Bit better I’m gonna convert a few of these into brown mushroom cows because I don’t know if you can breed brown mushroom cows together or if they just produce red mushroom cows after that so we should probably just get as many of these converted as we can while of Course leaving a few of the red ones around and of course one of the best things about hanging out here on a mushroom island to do this is that hostile mobs don’t spawn in mushroom field biomes so effectively we are protected from all hostile mobs with the Exception of phantoms who will just turn up in the sky because you know they don’t have any kind of biomes specific spawning conditions like the other hostile mobs do and that’s gotta be a problem so I might end up sleeping away this storm once we’ve done a little bit More mushroom electrification over here this guy’s standing under the mushroom he knows what’s up let’s get a few more of them maybe over here by the nether portal I tell you or even though I’m a little bit worried about using it in future it is so nice to have a trident With channeling again it’s a lot of fun being able to wield the lightning and convert some of these creatures and who knows we might go mob head hunting in a future episode or maybe on a stream or something like that but for now I think I’ll probably use it with caution you And good morning I decided to go back to the farmhouse to gather a few things and sleep the storm away and much so it would have been great to go around collecting charge creepers I didn’t really feel like pushing my luck so what I’ve decided to do is come back here With a bunch of stuff in my shelcha box here I had a few of these things already but I thought why not grab a nametag for each of these mushrooms that way once we start getting suspicious stew out of them we can actually understand which suspicious to you we’re going to be Getting from each mushroom cow and I figured I’d bring some fences some leads and so forth so that we can make a little Corral over here and fence them all off into individual stations where we can milk them for the suspicious stew of choice that way we can come back here Anytime we want it and just get an infinite supply instead of having to craft this stuff on the ghost so we’re gonna start off by seeing if we can breed these guys they do seem to be interested in wheat much like the standard cows are I’m just interested to See if we get a baby brown mushroom out of this instead of just getting a red mushroom like normal so let’s try breeding these two together I’ve got my particles turned off because I was at the Guardian farm yes we do actually get brown mushroom babies as a result that’s Very cool good to know let’s see if we can breed those two together as well and it is gonna be a brown baby every time it looks like compared to having to breed the red ones I presume if you breed a red one and a brown one together they’re either gonna Be incompatible or you would just get a roll of the dice between the two of them at which one you got but that’s very cool all right let’s get one of these corralled off into its own little enclosure over here let’s just build a little pen and it you look like you’re Walking in there already don’t you this try and try and Shepherd one of these into you Shepherd the right word if they’re cows I think that’s probably just for sheep but here we go we can put you in the pen like so just come around here and we’ll get a couple of fence Gates added onto the front like so and like so don’t worry we’ll we’ll bring the offspring in here as well eventually so I’ve got some wood with me I will make a crafting table make a few bowls and then to start off with we’re probably going to give this one a poppy And might even name it poppy but I have cut all of the name tags just saying the effects right now poppy seems like a good name for a cow but this cow is we gonna be called speed in a second first of all let’s milk it to see if we Get yeah we do we get the regular mushroom stew out of that so brown mushrooms naturally will only produce a regular mushroom stew however if we feed this one a poppy like so it does actually eat it and then we can it nickname it speed like so and give a Suspicious to a mushroom gets milked suspiciously it’s what that said in the subtitles and that is one heck of a subtitle well done mo yang okay so in theory if I drink the stew of this cow here I should be getting a five-second speed boost like I normally would with Suspicious to you made with a poppy and I do it looks like we are getting let’s check this the duration is the same yet that is a five-second speed boost that’s really cool and from now on I can just milk this cow oh wait no oh you you Actually get once to you at a time I thought it was a little bit o P to be able to get the same suspicious stew over and over again so in theory we do have to keep feeding these guys the flowers right so I guess what we could Do is keep a chest of flowers next to this enclosure and just feed the mushroom depending on which suspicious do we want it and that makes a fair amount of sense in the grand scheme of things because that way we wouldn’t need to nametag them even we just need to Feed them whichever flower we want for the suspicious stew effect and go ahead and grab that so yeah maybe we don’t need all of this after all I guess you could still do this and there are nine potion effects total ten if you count the Blue Orchid gets the same saturation Effect that a dandelion does but yeah you can you can in theory just you know Corral a bunch of cows together and then feed them the individual flowers but it seems like if you can’t reproduce these suspicious to you every single time then there’s no need to worry about that so Much I still think having a cow nicknamed speed is pretty funny though so just to prove that that’s the case let’s feed this one an oxide Daisy milk it’s suspiciously once again and then milk it one more time it just gets the irregular mushroom stew and now we have This which should give us a seven second regeneration boost if we’ve used an oxide Daisy for this one so let’s eat that and find out and yep looks like we’re getting that region effect very good very good okay so now we know now at least we know that we Can’t get the stew from these guys infinitely unless we have an infinite supply of flowers which thanks to the flower farm we made a few episodes ago we do so in theory yeah like we could always bring some of these folks back to spawn with us and you know have a a Mooshroom ranch where we just feed them whatever flowers we want to to get the suspicious to you at any time but it’s more of a bonus feature still I don’t really see this being a huge feature in the grand scheme of things considering you want to get like a couple of seconds Of each of the potion effects but it’s still quite fun it’s still nice to have this as a possibility and I feel like what I’m gonna do is let these mushrooms loose and just allow them to roam around still so we’re still gonna have one Brown mushroom nicknamed speed roaming Around on the island but I think for the most part we can probably leave them be well that is basically all I wanted to cover in this episode of the Minecraft Survival Guide thank you guys so much for watching don’t forget to
