So if you’ve watched my last few videos then you may have noticed that my render distance is really really far I have it sets to 88 chunks but if you look at my frame rate it’s rock solid 165 frames per second but that’s with my frame rate Capped if I uncap it then it’s more than double that so what kind of dark magic am I using to make my game Run This smooth well over the last few months I’ve been helping to bug test a brand new mod called Nvidia made by an extremely talented modder Called cortex basically you install it alongside two other mods sodium and Bobby and you get this and just for comparison this is the same world seed running at the same render distance in Bedrock Edition and the performance is not looking good this is a really unstable 40fps it’s stuttering all the Time so at really high render distances invidium completely blows bedrocks performance out the water we’ve had other performance mods in the past there’s been OptiFine which everyone knows about but OptiFine is really outdated it was made for much older versions of the game running on much older computers with much older Graphics Drivers so in modern versions of the game it really doesn’t do much anymore that’s why sodium was made it’s a much more modern approach to boosting your FPS and by itself sodium is really good as long as you don’t try pushing your render distance above 32 this is what Happens when you do try though I’m going to disable and iium so this is just sodium it takes a really really long time to load and already my FPS is nowhere near as good as it was with envidian and as more of the world loads In my FPS is only going to go down and [Applause] down okay so the rest of the world has finally loaded in which probably took a few minutes and you can see that my FPS is really really suffering and it’s not like my PC’s bad it’s really good it’s just that while sodium is a really good Performance mod it’s just not made to render this much terrain at once now if I turn invidium back on the world loads in a matter of seconds now there are two other mods that do this already there’s distant Horizons and there’s far plane too but the difference is those mods fake the Terrain and what I mean by that is if you zoom in on the distant blocks they’re actually just flat colors and the further out you go the blockier it yet and with envidian if I zoom in on something in the distance it’s being rendered in full quality this is a Mountain 88 chunks away and I can see it in full quality all the textures are there everything is there and there’s another cool thing that midium does right now I’ve disabled it so the only performance mod I have running is sodium and if I put a piece of glass here you Can see that well actually you can’t see that there’s water behind it it just erases the water from existence anytime you look at one translucent block behind another translucent block sodium is probably going to break it but if I reenable envidian I can see the Water Behind the glass again all is right with the world it’s not perfect you might run into this weird flickering when you go to a frozen ocean but other than that it’s pretty good one thing this mod won’t do is it won’t stop Mobs and items from completely destroying your frame Rate when I’m looking at this mountain I’m getting 800 frames per second and if I look anywhere near the creepers or the items then I’m getting like 40 FPS so now you’re probably thinking this mod sounds too good to be true there’s got to be some kind of catch and Unfortunately there are a few catches the first and most obvious catch is clued in the name it only works for NVIDIA graphics cards I will Flash the technical reason why on screen but to put a long story short AMD doesn’t have the thing that makes this mod work you Can install the mod but it just won’t do anything so so it disables itself this is not something that cortex can control this is up to AMD to solve so please do not go harassing cortex to make it work on AMD the second catch is that your Nvidia graphics card needs to have been made in 2018 or later otherwise again it won’t work the third catch is that your graphics card needs lots and lots of video memory or vram for short the more vram you have the higher render distance you can have I have an RTX 380 which has 10 GB of vram so I can comfortably push my render distance up to 88 but if I push it any higher than that then I will run out of vram and some parts of the world just won’t load in sometimes you’ll even see holes in the world but The good news is that most graphics cards can get up to 64 render distance which still looks amazing and the fourth catch is that it doesn’t work with shaders you can still install shaders but when you turn them on invidium will turn itself off because it just doesn’t Work with them Vortex has told me the reason why she hasn’t made it work with shaders and it’s pretty complicated basically it will be extremely tedious and difficult to do so again please don’t go harassing cortex to make it work with shaders and the fifth catch is That to get the extra render distance you need to install another mod called Bobby so you can change your maximum render distance and Bobby can take up quite a bit of space on your computer depending on how much of the world you’ve explored without Bobby nidum Can’t load the World by itself to get that Mushroom Island over there to load in I would have to fly over to it so you would have to spend quite a long time just flying around the world to actually see it all so this mod isn’t perfect but If you meet these criteria then there’s basically no reason not to use it it makes Minecraft feel like a proper open world game and it lets you enjoy the terrain more so if you want this mod then the link is in the description and cortex also has a patreon so if you Really like her work and want to support her then that’s the best way to do it Video Information
