Rahdo – Minecraft: Builders & Biomes Gameplay Runthrough

Hey everybody today righto runs through minecraft builders and biomes but before you going please turn your subtitles onto a Klingon channel so that when I make rules goose you know what they are and if you done that then welcome to the pixel II world of minecraft which I’ve

Got set up here for a two-player game it’s a 4 by 4 grid full of tiles that represents all sorts of things we can build in our little personal biomes here’s mine here’s Jen’s we’ve also got the block this big old collection of a randomized stack of cubes that represent

All the building materials we need to collect to be able to build the buildings that we’re gonna find as we explore so how does it work it’s really very simple and straightforward on your turn you’re gonna do two different actions can’t do the same thing twice those actions are collect blocks move

Around and explore basically build stuff fight monsters or mobs as they’re called which i think is short for like mobile object or something like that from like way back in early computer gaming days anyway or collect a weapon you could do two of these things I am the first

Player what am I gonna do well I think for starters I can’t build anything if I don’t have some blocks so I’m gonna take two blocks from the big block now to be able to take a block it has to be on the top so I can’t just like grab one from

Lower and there has to be two sides exposed so right now as my first or two blocks I have to take a corner piece because this Brown which represents wood that I could use to build stuff has a an exposed space here and here but I couldn’t grab this green one because it

Only has one exposed side face so I’m gonna take one and I’m gonna take this green over here alrighty boom this is my first bit of building materials and I get to take one more and now that I took this I’ve exposed I could get this one or this one or I

Could take any other Cup or I could take this one because it’s now on the top level and what do I want I’ll go on ahead and grab some stone there we go no I don’t I’m not gonna grab some stone because by doing that I’m exposing this

Green one which I wouldn’t be able to take because I can only grab blocks once on my turn and that means Jen might grab this green one and green ones are the most valuable they’re wild cards they can stand in for any other building so instead I think I will take this one

Which represents sand so I’ve got some sand and some of anything I want and now I’ve made this stone available this wood is not available cuz again it only has one side exposed so but that’s it I cannot grab any more blocks from the big block for my second action I gotta do

One of the other ones there are no monsters to fight I’m nowhere near any weapons um and there’s no buildings that we know of to build so I’m not going to any of those and said I can’t collect more blocks I’m gonna move zero one or two spaces and then reveal stuff this

Means exploring the world I am the green player what the heck let’s go on ahead and move a group zero or one or two I’m gonna go move one two so basically you can move around you don’t move to any of these intersections I’ll go one two and

Now that I’m over here once I’m stopped moving I reveal everything I’m next to so we find a big old level 3 sword that is much nicer at the beginning of the game I’ve got a level 2 and a level 1 sword and a bunch of poison potatoes

Which are bad news you don’t like those who wants a poison potato alright so this is very nice this other weapon is it’s a bow which does two points of damage but it has the added benefit of letting me attack more when I’m fighting them and push farther and farther I also

Reveal these two things and it is well it looks like a little Panda enclosure look at that adorable little place this might be something you’d want to build your own Minecraft world and to build this I need to sand and one would remember I’ve got one sand and one that

Could stand in for anything and then we’ll see we over here we have got a bridge it would appear a wooden bridge this needs three wood one sand and one stone to build this this bridge okay which it goes in a snowy place alright

That was it that was my turn and it is now Jen’s turn she’s gonna have the same thing she’s gonna do two actions um and I think for starters she will go on ahead and grab some stuff off the block and then she will move around and explore as

Well because even though I found all these things they’re very far away from Jen so even if she wanted these she can’t interact with him so she’ll have to do something in the world so what does she want she would like to get some green pieces as well because again

They’re wild so she can take a stone and then a green but you know what neither I’m sorry no no this yeah this I misread that sorry I got the colors wrong his Panda enclosure requires two stone and a wood so if Jen wants to build that she might say hey I’m gonna

Grab this one out of the corner no she’ll grab if she grabs this one then that makes this green and this green available she’ll go on ahead and take this one and then this green thereby not giving me access to greens necessarily although I could get this brown this and this

Alright so Jen’s got two building materials now she’s gonna walk around she could walk one two and stand over here in the same place I am and instead of choosing to explore this area she could collect a weapon or if she had all the building materials she could build

One of these two things in her biome that’s if she wants to walk over here or instead she could go off in a different direction she came over here or come over here and look at all four of these tiles she can memory she’s also allowed

To move zero spaces so she could just stand still and reveal all these things I think that’s what she’s gonna do what does she find she finds a nice little nice little is that pagoda it’s a gazebo I guess and I still look a zebra and a

Nice little flag that needs some stone and some sand a who it’s our first monster alrighty and this is a tough monster you have to do five points of damage to be able to beat this guy but he’s so tough if you beat him you’ll immediately score 5

Points and by beating him you will unlock an extra scoring opportunity to the game two points for every a house of this shape and right there saying that was here and then okay another building opportunity neat little sandcastle it looks like okay so there we go alright

And so that’s it for Jen she is done and we have got a little section of the world lots of different opportunities are starting to show up but anyway it is back to my turn and again I’m gonna do two items and I mean I quote I cannot

Say grab a weapon then grab another weapon cuz again I have to do two unique things but I could grab a weapon and get some more blocks now we can see there’s a whole bunch of potential things to start building and so we should be grabbing blocks with that in mind but we

Should also be thinking about what is it that we want to build like let’s come back to this little panda pen which is just adorable that needs to stone and a wood although remember greens can stand in for that so this has three icons on it that indicate the different elements

Related to this this is an animal enclosure it is a house made predominantly of stone and it goes in a grassy area now you can see the background is grassy if I were to build this you might think oh I have to build it in a grassy area I don’t I could

Basically convert this desert into a grassy area by building it here or I could convert this mountain the area into a grassy area by building it here and once I build it this has the potential to score points for me at various points throughout the game there

Are going to be and there’s gonna be an opportunity once in the game to score all of a one type of environment like say all of my grassy areas once of all the different types of buildings or building materials I can use and then

Once at the end of the game for all the different types of buildings that I could build so not only do I need to think about what type of resources on you but what type of thing do I want to actually build the first thing we are

Going to score it on is reminded we reminded of it here which is we will pick one of the environment types either the grasslands or the snowy lands or the mountain or the desert the if we want to score the snowy area that is the most

Valuable at six points per snowy area in one contiguous unbroken streak of them whereas the grass lands which are much more common they’re easier to get to they’re only worth half as many points so I need to be build with with keeping in mind that I want to

Have as big a grouping of of one type of Train of grassland that’s why if I put a grass line here I’d have a big grouping of four grasslands and four grass lines at three a pop would give me twelve points so that’s not bad that’s the

Equivalent of two snow lands but hey if I were to build this bridge and this here and put them say here and here then I would have eighteen points because I’d have a big group of three snowy areas huh so what is it that I want to build I

Think I just want these bandits they’re so adorable plus if I wanted to build this I can’t because first I’d have to move over into an area where I’m adjacent to it so if I wanted to build this well I need stone to stone and a wood and ironically I don’t have well

I’ve got this but all right so let’s say I take I mean I can take I will go ahead and take one and then I could take this valves go ahead and take this one now that I’ve exposed it to that was my first action I grab two more tiles my

Second action I could move around and explore a little bit more but I want to make this I want I want this panda in my biome so I’m gonna spend one stone okay since I’m next to this I’m gonna spend one stone and ah I have to give up both

Of my wild cards and there’s lots of wood out there I don’t think I should I think I should go ahead and collect the you know I grab that wood and that wood next turn so I don’t have to rush on this so I think for my second action I

Really like the idea of getting a bow so if I ever try to fight monsters like this one then I’ll have a better shot at beating them because what happens is this is functions like a die when I decide to attack somebody I have to draw three of my weapon tiles randomly and

The total of damage they do has to equal or exceed the bad guy so I’d have to do five total damage if I were over here and I want to fight this guy and I drew one poisoned potato that’s nothing – I’ve done two points of damage I need to

Do three more and no I did one more to be able to beat this guy I would have had to draw my new super or well actually if I draw on my bow and arrow it would do two damage and then let me draw another one normally you only get

To draw three but if I draw that bone I could draw forth any if I draw another bow and arrow 1/5 etc etc so I’ve just gotten a nice weapon that’s gonna help me fight things later on although I don’t think I’d want to take a risk on

This cuz I know it’s a pretty long shot that I beat anyway that’s not what I did I grabbed a weapon and I grabbed some more blocks I am done it is Jen’s turn and Jen’s got to be thinking about the same stuff she’s got a couple there’s

All this stuff around here this needs sand and stone to make this and if she were to hmm if she were to build this she probably want to say maybe go like that and then if she could get another Mountain then she’d have 4 Mountain the area’s built which would be worth 5

Points apiece that would be 20 points so does she lay down this flag and but the problem is there’s no more stony areas revealed so Jen would probably need to explore pretty quick and hopefully find another stone area that she could build say here and here um or she could hey

Could try to go for this and one put it here or here and she’s starting to make a big sandy area aha alrighty which is worth 4 pop ah let’s see what does she need for this sand and never also this sand castle will even win as soon as she

Builds it score her two bonus points so let’s say she wants to go for that she needs to sand a wood and a stone she has none of that um right and I’m sorry I keep speaking the grey or stone the black are obsidian needed an obsidian to sand and a wood I

Assume these are the building materials in real Minecraft which I have to miss a game I’ve never played so if Jen wanted to do or she would need a lot of sand which she doesn’t have um but she could go for the snow as well this needs

Obsidian sand and wood which again she didn’t associate after um but she yeah I think she just wants to build this flag really quick so she needs some sand she doesn’t want to use her wild card she will go ahead and take this sand ever she could be taking from anywhere on the

Block as long as it’s at the top of a column and it’s got two sites so she could grab this sand if she wants her this would but by taking that sand she has just revealed this emerald so it’s another wild card so that was her

First action her second action is she is gonna build she will spend these they’re gone and build a flag you’re gonna raise that flag and where will she put it there is a lot of snow out here and so she still might try to expand the snowy area so

Let’s go on ahead and just put this right here so she is overridden this grassland with a little mountainous area where she’s raised the flag and as a reminder this is a mountainous area which is what we’re gonna score first time it is a sand building which means

When we get to the second scoring round of the game we score based on the building material so now that jen has built a sandy building she wants to build more sandy buildings next to this sandy building like say this sand castle so that she’s looking ahead to the

Mid-game scoring and then the in-game scoring is where we score based on the types of buildings whether they’re bridges or houses or animal enclosures or decorative this was a decorative so Jen ideally would like to put other sandy things here next to this other mountainy things next to this and other

Decorations next to this this is sandy in a decoration but it’s not a mountain but hey this could come over here and she’s expanding a whole bunch of stuff she’s expanding her snow and she’s expanding her sand construction and her decorations this may bear will be the

Next thing Jen wants to build anyway so jen has built something hooray okay and that was her turn it is my turn and once again I get to do two things now I should say we’re gonna continue like this until we take all of the blocks

That are on the top level you can see how we’re kind of digging down but instead if we take off the top as soon as these are all gone we will Abdulle a scoring and everybody will pick their best biggest collection or you know they’re their highest scoring collection of one type of

Terrain and score it and then this will be done and then when we finish the second level of this big ole block then we will score based on our building materials and then third off of our best collections of one type of of construction all right so what do I want

And right oh I was still thinking about building this and Right so I needed some wood and some more stone if I don’t want to use and you know I could get that easy enough I could just get this wood here and I need one more stone I could grab this stone but hey I just exposed to more greens

And if I leave these here I don’t want to give Jen too so I’ll go on ahead and take one of them alright so there we go so how’s my first action I think my second action I am gonna go on ahead and build as well let’s go on ahead and put

This here it requires a stone and I’ll use an emerald as a stone and a wood and so I have now built something as well and member I could have built this anywhere and interesting Lee if later on I want to build other stuff I can build

Over the top of things I built also you have a lot of freedom in this game which I guess is true to Minecraft so now if I can before our first scoring I want to get more green terrain so I can score more points off of a big bunch of green

But I also want more stone buildings next to this stone building and I want more animal enclosures next to this if I can for the exploring that we will be doing later on the course of the game and of course now we don’t know what’s here anymore we’ll need to explore etc

Etc so I grabbed I built it is Jen’s turn again and she really likes this as a great extension of this or no I’m sorry was it which one was it it was no it was this one she wants this so I mean she only needs one block cuz

She could use these wild cards but I’m nowhere near it she can see that oh she couldn’t see I could build this cuz I’ve got two wilds in ass and I could build this so maybe Jen should build this really quick there’s always a danger of just leaving something around so you can

Get the right building materials anyway Jen needs some so hey she’ll take another green yay another air mold and um she’ll go on ahead and take this obsidian alright so that was her first of two actions she grabs some blocks her second action she could move around and

Explore some more she’s now got what she needs to build this she could also build this sand castle as well and try to say you know she could put this sand castle down here and expand so she could try to score sand and be hey this is

Sandi building if she puts another sandy building here all three sandy buildings will be next to each other that could be a really nice thing to build towards later if Jen wants to build this right now plus if she builds this right now because it needs more stuff than normal

She’ll get two bonus points that’s what we’re here to do score points so is she gonna do that or she gonna build the little now I think she’s gonna stick with her original sandy plan she will spend her obsidian and two because again I could build this right now right now

This is the only thing either of us have the ability to build so Jen figure she better build it while the building is good so she’s gonna put this here and it’ll go boom so now Jen has a size two snowy area which is twelve point so she can build

Another snowy thing and put it over here here here she’ll get even more points but she’s also thinking in the future that she wants more sandy buildings that are decorative for the second and third scoring so there we go that was Jen’s sue turns my turn again we’ve done a

Bunch of building um what am I gonna do now you know what this guy is taunting us he’s never there never gonna bothers they just sit here waiting to be beat but we can’t find out what’s deeper in this stack until somebody fights him and if somebody beats him remember they will

Score five points immediately and get two points at the end of the game for every building they make that is a domicile so far I’ve made an animal enclosure jen has made two decorative things nobody’s made domiciles but if I beat this guy you better believe I’m gonna start making it building DOMA

Cells as they come up right now we’ve got two bridges um you know I think I want to see some more options so I’m my first action is I’m not gonna grab any blocks I’m going to explore I can move up to two spaces I’m just gonna move

Here and I’m gonna reveal this it’s another bow nice and I’m gonna reveal this which is a it’s a it’s a dwelling it is a wooden dwelling with some nice little campfire and all that and it’s a quick and easy thing to build that’s very nice and then we reel another thing

Right here it’s another monster it’s uh I’m gonna assume I’m gonna call this a cactus I assume minecraft fans will be a bit more familiar with it this says at the end of the game I will get three points for every mountainous area which right now I’ve got one

So I’ve already buried one of my mountains which means yeah I could beat him and get the four points but that means but over the course of game I want to be building more mountainous areas which I don’t want to do right now although I mean this mountainous area I

Mean I could work on that over the course of the game do it so first of all I’ve explored second of all I could fight this guy I only need to do four points of damage I don’t like my chances but I want to get ready to fight him so

My second action I’m gonna collect another weapon I am making a better and better die basically this is effectively a dice but instead of rolling it see what I get I draw three things when I eventually want to fight after I shuffle it alright so we’ll see what happens

Right so that was my turn I explored I grabbed another weapon I’m getting ready to fight I mean you could spend your whole game not building at all and instead just chasing after bad guys and fighting them and score a lot of points that way potentially so that was it for

Me it is Jen’s turn again and right she does like this sand castle for all the reasons I talked about but if she could get this snowy thing built before we’ve one two three four five six seven eight once these eight top cubes are gone we’re gonna score Jim would like to get

This built before then cuz that’ll be worth an extra six points to her if she expands her little snowy domain not that she cares about the bridge with a wooden building because she likes sands and decorations but still but still and hey not for nothing for points so Jen well

She needs she needs five total blocks so let’s say that she takes a wooden one and a another green another emerald boom alright and we’re getting closer to scoring how’s your first action her second action is she’ll loo she’ll go one two and explore up here and see what else there’s the build

Alrighty what do we got it’s a scarecrow it’s a decorative scarecrow made out of sand and that is Jen’s favorite building material for later in the game scoring and she revealed this and it is oh it’s an imposing stone tower in the mountains this is considered a domicile which if

You had this still at the end of the game covered up that means having beaten this guy will be worth more points okay so Jen grabbed and she explored she’s done it’s my turn and you know what I’m gonna do two actions I’m gonna grab another weapon and now I’m feeling much better

About my chances of fighting I’m gonna fight this guy we’re gonna take you out I do not like the look of you you make me very uncomfortable so let’s see what I do whenever you fight you draw three tiles and the sum total of hearts has to equal or beat in

This case four so wish me luck everybody here we go tile number one it’s a sword I’m halfway there tile number two it’s a poison potato which is basically a blank that’s not good if I draw another poison potato I lose if I draw my one-point sword I lose

If I draw my bow I while I win because it does two points of damage all right Oh a bit scary no more boys and potatoes two of these only two of these well that three of these will lead to a loss the two other poisoned potatoes or my weak

Sword so thankfully I’ve got a 50/50 chance here we go boom poison potato I get nothing I have wasted one of my two actions no consolation prize no nothing you just lose so I got a weapon and it didn’t help I wasted my whole turn and

It’s over and it’s Jens turn oh and by the way remember Jen loves sand buildings I forgot to notice this thing requires once and build oh that is lovely okay so what is Jen gonna do she’s still saving up to build up this big bridge so she can get more snow so

She’s got less so she’s more wood like say if she takes this one too so oops sorry mr. sand you go back where you go now we are almost about to score there’s only 4 more cubes on the top row and Jen’s final score now she wants to score

As fast as possible cuz she’s good she’s not gonna wait any longer she’s gonna use all of these using all of her wild card rubies plus the two wood and that is what she needs to do to build this that immediately gets her 1 2 3 4 points

Because it was such a big build and now she has to put it someplace she wants to expand her existing she will go on ahead and place it up here boom she doesn’t care about the British doesn’t care about the fact that this was a wooden bridge she only cares about making the

Winter and now she wants to bring around the the scoring ASAP because Jen’s looking at eighteen point six times three whereas I’m only looking at four times three so Jen is definitely in the lead and it is my turn again all right so is uh yeah Jen took two blocks and

Now it’s my turn again uh I feel like fighting this cactus thing again but that didn’t work out very well last time did it there’s no more weapons I could pick up to help oi stupid poisoned potatoes and I you know I can see I can see what Jen is

Doing she’s gonna try and rush do I have enough time I do I’m gonna I’m gonna explore I’m gonna I’ll be back for you later I can move up two two one zero one or two I’m up here I will reveal this it’s Oh Jen is happy well no oh I am

Happy this is another animal enclosure and remember at the end of the game if I’ve got a big group of animal enclosures I could score five points for each connected one so that is very interesting to me and I also reveal this weapon this is a pickaxe this is a cool

Weapon while you’re fighting if you draw this it does two points of damage and you immediately score two points so that’s pretty cool I want to pick that weapon up now I want to come back and fight you but that’s not why I walked up here my second action I’m gonna build

This thing that Jen wanted so badly it was a decoration it was a sand building and I brushed up here I’m gonna spend this once and I’ve got and I just wanted it specifically so that I could extend my um forest because we’re about to score and but as a side bonus

I kept Jen from getting a tile that was perfect for her now one two three four five times three I’ll score 15 points for my gigantic forest while Jen is scoring so that’s that’s pretty nice I’m pretty happy about that it is Jen’s turn Jen’s like oh she still got this sandy

Bridge but she wanted the sandy decoration drat Oh okay so what is Jen gonna do Jen well Jen is still in the lead if we can score this she’s gonna make three more points so I think she still wants to push that agenda so she will collect some sand

Boom and really she should collect some more saying because she wants to make sand base things like this one but she wants to clear this top level out – lets see this thing that she’s thinking about building needs sand wood and obsidian she’ll go ahead and grab this wood

Alright so that was her first action if her second action could be to take more stones she would take these just to trigger the scoring right now but she can’t she’s got to do something else um what is she gonna do oh well she can’t build so I think she will go exploring

She will go one two so she can see what this and this is it’s another one of these scary guys although this one Jen would definitely like to be this guy cuz if she does at the end of the game she will get two points for every sand based

Constructions he did and she’s planning on building a lot of sandy stuff for the mid game scoring so she revealed that and she revealed all what do we have here another sandy sandy domicile in a green and it’s pretty quick and easy to build so ok Jen grabbed some things she

Came to explore she’s got another thing she wants to build unfortunately she didn’t find any snowy areas that’s why snow is worth the most points because it is the rarest environment so that was that it is my turn alright I want this pickaxe and um I mean I’ve got two watts

I could build this right now and it is an animal enclosure which is kind of an in-game bonus for me so I think I’m just gonna go on ahead and build it right now it’s yeah it’s not really helping me if I could connect these to sand no even

Still I’m doing better with all my force so you’ve been alright I’m just gonna go ahead and build this and I will cover up my existing desert with this new desert and so at the end of the game these two things next to each other when all but

The bottom row of this big block is gone that’s five so this is 10 points potentially and I want to build more animal enclosures although in the meantime hey these are not the same type this is stone and this is wood so that’s not great but hey well

Alright so I I have built something and then I am going to go 1 2 or I’m gonna go 1 2 because I’m come back to fight and let’s find out what’s here well this looks like fun – obsidian ass and and and it’s a decoration it’s a stone decoration it’s

Worth 2 points to build it alright who wouldn’t want that in their biome alright so that was it it’s Jens turn and she ah she’ll go on ahead she’s getting 2 actions sure go ahead and build because hey it’s another sandy building next to her existing sandy

Buildings what’s going ahead and put it right there doesn’t give her anything immediately but now she’s got 1 2 3 sandy buildings for the mid game scoring potential and for a second action she’s gonna collect some bricks and boom we have just triggered the first scoring everybody now deals with this we pick

One environment of our choosing and score points based on how big it is you already know I’m picking my forest one two three four five times three is I just made 15 points and Jen picks her nice snowy area 6 times 3 is 18 so 5 10

15 16 17 18 and just like that and of course all players would do it we are done we are we’ve cleared off first level we got to keep on building and Jen is sitting at 22 points versus my 15 but I’ve got ivory every step of the way I’m

Getting a better and better weapon which means hopefully I can start taking out some of these guys and making up for my shortfall and remember every time I mean if I fight this guy and if I fight this guy gentle be very bummed because it means I get points for every sandy

Construction at the end of the game I do have one etc etc and the interesting thing is now I no longer care about the terrain type I’ve got we’ve scored it now I care about building materials and then finally I care about types of buildings although yo I mean hey if I

Beat this guy then I would care about terrain types because at the end of the game I’d want to make sure I’ve got a lot of mountains showing etc etc but folks I think I’m gonna stop right there because that should give you a pretty good idea of the overall flow of Minecraft
