Hello there right here and behind me you can see we did a law testing all this testing was done during our last stream our snapshot stream which was this last Wednesday and what we were testing is all the different changes that came out with snapshot one of the more major ones Was how the sand was reacting with new changes so I didn’t see there’s a lot of different things going on here to do with sand and how it changes from the previous version until now I gotta say this new sand is pretty strange and today I would like to go over all the Weird stuff that we came across during our stream now if you would like to be there as we discover these new things and take part in the stream and it’s giving suggestions you can find links to that down below sorry if these clips have some discoloring I was kind of running some other things during the recording the thing that they removed in last snapshot is that the entities of falling blocks could sit on top of these post and now that can no longer happen so as you put a sand down it will turn to entity and start Following and what it used to do is just sit there as entity on top of the post and this was actually a bug to do with the following sand coming down and then seeing the post and thinking that it’s being supported by it but seeing it’s also not close enough to actually turn Into a block on top of it so therefore it would maintain staying as an entity nao-san has a special property that if it sits as an entity is too long it will eventually pop off as item and this is something you can see if you drop like a Sand entity into some bubble columns so these are some upwards ones and they are sending the entity as you can see right here because I have f3 plus B which is the hitboxes on one side you get you see the little white lines around all entity and what happens is That the sand entity will eventually see that he’s not being supported and he has a lot of timer that’s counting down and when the timer reaches zero you will drop off as an item and we’ll see this very soon right there you see it popped off as item this normally happens a lot Of circumstances similar to this but with the fence gates what was happening is still thought it was being supported by the fence key therefore it would stay as entity for our limited amount of time the way that that changes is that once the sand gets somewhat close to the Fence gate you can see it recognizes the fence gate as a block they can send top up and it will snap to it so you can see it’s following an entity and all of a sudden it gets about half a block away and then it just snaps to the post right Below it now this mechanic and landing on top and staying there as entity was used quite a bit in the technical community I used it a lot in like my sand farm as well as like my dragon egg farm I went project members Doge used it in a really cool way he Actually had sand as well as like concrete slide across it and then go down and build a wall a really cool thing if you haven’t seen that video I highly recommend it I’ll link it down in the description and by using he was able to build huge walls around our Perimeters without having to do much effort you just AF gave one spot and place down some concrete now aqua also had a pretty cool adventure that he made with this he was having his dragon egg set on top of this then he was having the dragon eggs slide across these Fences and he’s actually sending them off in the distance and uses them to break bedrock which is pretty cool idea he never actually got a full system of it but maybe he still will someday and if hurt a lot you guys saying that this was also used by the door building Community like do you just put sand on top of it and make some kind of cool-looking doors that you could walk through and also seen this used by the aesthetics community as they would have the same kind of set on top of it and they can make blocks at different Heights now this change not only affected sand infected all variations of sand as well as like gravel all variations of a concrete as well as other falling blocks such as like animals as well as like dragon eggs now they said the change was to do with fences but there’s a lot other blocks They have our similar property as fences do if you see my video about all the different types of block sizes you can see that there is quite a few that come in this type of category such as a cobble walls and pretty much it acts the Same way with the Ka’bah wall there are some very strange ones such as like gates which can be open to close so like when it is closed you can see the dragon able snap to it but if it’s like open the dragon egg will fall through it and Then they’ll try to occupy this block and then it seems another block isn’t already there and it will pop off this is very similar to like a torch where the sand will fall down and then it occupy the block but you can’t so therefore I’ll just pop off as a item so You can do kind of strange stuff where you send it through and then close it and then it can kind of get stuck inside and glitched but there are other blocks that have kind of weird properties such as chakra boxes so shock our boxes have the Ability to be opened up and closed so if you open it up it will sit a little bit taller and actually sits half a block taller when it’s and uh and what’s possible to have a say in fall and then open this up and then the sandwich kind of hover above it has Entity so if we go ahead and try that now I just throw sand down and open it up you can see right here the sand is actually a block and you see these little white lines this means the Shocker box isn’t actually open and there’s also a block On top of it that’s very strange because if I close it now if you try to open it up you’re unable to open it because this block is occupying this space now you give me to see this happening I got my second account opening up the Shocker box and if I Place an right on top here you see a land and they’ll just snap to the Shocker box even though there’s actually collision here so if I go inside of here I’m actually colliding with not only the same I’m also climbing with the Shocker Box and I can stand on top of this if I can get a nice view you can see I’m staying on top of the Shocker box even though there is a solid block of sand above it not even an entity this is a very strange behavior another block that Also has a behavior of kind of sticking outside of its bounding box such as like fences and shockers and that is a piston so when a piston extends it has this little silver pizza top that’s actually a little bit higher than just one block and the reason they do this is because When the piston basic stance there’s ASCAP between the piston base here and where the actual piston arm will be and they just put a block here there’d always be this air gap in between so to fill it in instead of giving the base this extra piece they Actually give the piston head so this is what it turns out looking like you can see the little silver piece and it looks like it is part of this base it’s actually part of this piece here and there’s a little bit of wood that goes With it too as you can see the lion separates the two is right about here so if you separate them you end up with a piston base that’s all its own as well as an arm since this arm sticks up a little bit what happens when we throw Some sand on top of it well you can see it actually tried to sit on top of it and as soon as I ended up sitting on top of it what it did is it updated the piston arm here and all the way the piston arm works is that it kind of Needs a base if you don’t have the base and it gets updated then it will pop off so if I just come in here and place any block above here you see that it pops off so in reality what we see here is very similar to like what we see over here where It tries to land and sit on top of that block you can also do a similar thing with these pistons has with the chakra boxes so if you place a block down here and let it fall you think it would pop off what it does is it tries to sit There and then it ends up updating this piston which pops off so how does Ahmed say Sultan which is very similar to a full block and if you look at it look like the exact same height but if you stand on its slightly shorter so let’s Go ahead and drop a sand on it and you say it also pops off this is actually similar to what we’ve seen prior as if the sand is I feel like it has a solid surface it doesn’t feel like it should try to stay there and it pops off but in This case it was an uneven surface and I still tried to stay there now dropping sand on blocks that are slightly taller than 1 meter isn’t the only way to produce these floating entities back in the day there’s another way and this was pushing the sand as it’s falling while It’s an entity over and making it kind of hover on top of a nearby block so the way that would work is that if the sand could fall here it would turn into a block and if it could fall here it could turn into a block but if it can’t really Fall on either side and it’s kind of in the middle it would sit there as an entity and I use this in a lot of circumstances and even use this to test the boat speeds of the blue-ice let’s go ahead and give it a test what I’ll do is I’ll put the sand on top of this trapdoor here and then I’ll remove the power here and the sand start falling down then I will power this piston game which will press the sand entity with this trapdoor against this cobble wall here and then it should land partially On the edge of this and that should make it stay there as an entity they said use two let’s go ahead I’ll remove it and then squish again and you can see it was coming down just perfectly and also and it ended up right here and they just Popped off as item so now it seems that if sand feels like it’s an invalid situation where it cannot turn into a block it’ll just pop off as entity because when the sand was sitting right here it’s too far away to sit as a blocked centered on this one and since It’s clipping this block it’s unable to come down here and say as a block so it kind of sets an edge and ends up just popping off as a item now there was another way to make these sand entities float and this was using boats have we Here got munch or watering villagers as we were doing quite a bit testing with them as well but essentially a way that would work is that you can make the sand fall on top of boughs and these are entities that can collide with most other entities as you can see Even players can stand on top of the boats where most entities would just allow us and to follow directly through them so if we go ahead and we would drop a sand on these two boats you can see it falls down and it pops off so it seems That maybe it comes to a point where it feels like it’s colliding with the boat then it says well I can’t really sit there as a block because as boats occupying it so therefore I should just pop off but even get some little bit stranger as over here if you have a Single boat and sand falls on it it doesn’t pop off what it does is it just occupies the space of the boat this is completely contrast of what we see over here as before it would always pop off a boat and now it just falls directly Inside of it and it ends up sitting on top of whatever block is below it so we had idea of what happens if the boats equal the same height as a block and we went ahead and they actually built this up right here I think it was like 16 Boats or something are put on top of each other and the science of a boat is a very strange size but with that many of them exactly equals the same height of a block over here let’s go ahead and just place down a sand right here Wow You see that like as soon as you place it it just pops off as a entity that is so strange like it could somehow tell that it’s instantly in a situation where it should not be and it just pops off I’ll go put one right here you also see It just instantly pops up doesn’t even like try to fall if you go ahead and place a little bit higher you can kind of see it makes a little more sense like it’s coming down it collides with it some are thinking like what happens if the boat is just slightly taller so that When the tank comes down it can’t decide if it should sit down here or if it should pop off so here we got some tests over here and this test over here on this side is a boat sitting on top of some snow layer so if you stand Top of this one we are just slightly under one block height and you can see this right over here where it says point 9 slightly under a full block if we go ahead and stand on this one this one has five layers of snow you can see that we Are slightly over one blocks and what’s going to happen here let’s go ahead and we’ll drop a sand on this side and you can see that it will go ahead and just destroy the snow layer there was underneath of occupy the block let’s go ahead and do The same thing over here and you can see it pops off so this is telling us that if the entity is slightly higher than a full block then it’s not going to attempt to try to occupy the block below it and it’s just gonna pop off as the Item but if it sees that the same can go a little bit lower than one thought it says hey man I might as well just jump all the way down and occupy the block below it if I can so something like a daylight sensor which is slightly Shortened to one block with a boat on top of it will try to occupy on that space but as you see when it tries to occupy the space of the daylight sensor what it does is it ends up breaking off since it cannot occupy it so some of These rules that we’re making up for this new sand kind of makes sense but we were on this test server with some other guys such as man rock Johnny as well as zoom and they came across some other strange behaviors such as this where They have a slab and a boat on top of it and what happens you think if we’re going to drop a sand on top of this well let’s go stand on top of this boat and see exactly how high it is so this boat is just slightly higher than one block That’s actually the exact same height as this over here this snow layer and a bra on top of it but what happens in this situation well in that situation it popped off right what’s gonna happen in this situation what the sand sits there is a block it doesn’t pop off it’s Actually inside of the boat this is just boggling so it somehow doesn’t pop off from the slab low doesn’t pop off from the boat but instead you just sit on top of a slab this kind of breaks all the previous rules that we made for the sand I have no clue what’s going on here but it’s extremely strange some people are also wondering how it interacts with cobwebs and it seems it works exactly as it used to what I’ll do is I’ll try to falter it well the problem is sand will sit there so long in the falling state That eventually pop off as item but what happens when it comes in contact with something like this well what’s going to do is it’s going to keep making its way through and if it does make its way through it so I can kind of speed us up By breaking the cobweb and reapplying it and what you’ll see is as I say we’ll just make it all the way through and then it will notice this block here even though it’s about half a block away from it and I’ll just snap to it so you can see how I just snapped It’s about half a meter away from it just snap directly on top of that fence there there’s also quite a few weird behaviors to do with pistons as you can probably guess when you’re moving falling sand with pistons it can get a bit strange here we just have one that Is on a clock and pistons going back and forth pulling a fence the fence is one and a half meters tall you can see as it pulls away it tries to fall as soon as it comes up and snaps to it this is very similar to like if you just see us all The blocks let me just go ahead and swap this out with a solid block you can see how it’s following and snapping to it the way that sand follows is there’s actually a block and entity at one point so it’s possible if you actually break The block of the sand like there you can see how the particles are breaking it while still keeping the sand and this one actually produce any items if you’ve done this you can do some visual stuff like this where you can start putting some particles on it like you’re Breaking and it’ll just constantly fall and replenish itself with those particles already on it now there is another weird behavior that is different than the prior so what used to happen when you would drop it sign something like this and we’re just kind of fall right through and it end up Down here so if I go ahead and drop it you see it comes in contact with this and actually breaks off so what’s happening is it’s probably doing something very similar to like if it would land on top of a trapdoor you can see it’s easily able to descend on the Edge there but maybe since the piston arm is lower similar to that of like a sole block you can see that it pops off right so if you think that’s the case then it would make sense right so what happens if you use it on something like A shocker box which is hanging over by half a block and actually collides with that – you can collide with that so if I go ahead and put the block over here you think well it’s going to be very similar to that of like a trap door it’s going To sit directly on it but unless who actually does what actually does is it pops off so it does the exact same thing as I did over here so that’s like inconsistent with that doesn’t make much sense because this one comes very top of a full block you can see us that’s right There and even if I put like a block right beside it same thing happens to it like similar to be seen with like the boats over there just instantly pops off now what you can do is go ahead placed on the sand and then opened up The Shocker box and now you have the Shocker box open inside of the block so what I think is happening there is as the Shocker box is opening it the sand somehow feels like you can clear it and land there and then once the Shocker box Is fully open then it kind of gets its collision so it is actually possible for you to also drop the sand and then kind of push the following sand block with the Shocker box being open and I can actually do it like that so I’m gonna go Ahead and do it on the other account you can kind of see what it looks like so I’ll place the sand and then I open it up and that one time it popped down so I place it and open it up you kind of see How I got pushed to the side then I immediately decided that it was able to sit down there but I just had to move back over again kind of see how you’re pushed over and then came back to its original position again so what would happen if it was a different type of Block down there block that takes up a little bit higher so something like a fence is half a meter taller what it’s gonna is it going to try snap to this block and then will it be pushed by the Shocker block still let’s go ahead and Try it you can see it does try to just snap to a block and doesn’t seem to be really affected by it being a fence at all so so far I really haven’t got an entity to stay an entity for and not be directly over the center of a block Let’s go ahead and test that we got some more bubble columns here and we also got a shocker box so I’ll help us push over the sand entity and we’ll just go ahead and open it up as it’s falling you can see we have got the following entities Of sand kind of stuck between two different bubble columns and it’s bouncing up and down so let’s go down and let’s kill one of these bubble columns so that bubble column is killed and the majority of it is actually on this side has they only got pushed over By half a block but kind of came back a little bit so I’m pushing it over a little bit just by using the shocker box you see I got between these two now let’s go ahead and remove the second bubble column so I placing a block there And you can see immediately the sand falls and then it will just snap to this side over here so even if it’s directly between two blocks it just decides that it’s in one the blocks and it just snaps to it now you calls through a similar Thing to do with cobwebs if I go ahead and place this you can see that’s entity up there so I go ahead and move it over I just got pushed over here looks kind of funny how it moves I kind of slow going through the cobwebs Yeah I can kind of nudge it you can see it’s trying to like kind of slide back onto the side every time I know Jace slightly moves back over more to the left you kind of see that kind of funny how that works yeah essentially it will make it through This if it could but normally it will pop off as items so I can speed it up by doing that and you see it falls down and then it just snaps to aside now similar to cobwebs or berry bushes they also slow to entity so if I just fall down You see I slowly go down through it and eventually hits the bottom let’s go ahead and drop a sand into it and Wow okay first one is just slow visual it looks like it’s not really slowing it down it looks like by time the saying gets mostly inside of the very bush Where it should start to slow it down it already sees the block below it then tries to sit on that block and the notice is it can’t because the berry bush is occupying and therefore it pops off this item so what I did is just put A berry bush above but no block or Neath so now I should be able to fall right through and try to land down here and if it can let’s go ahead and drop the sand and wow it looked like I got no slowing down from the actual berry bush let’s go Ahead and do it with a player yeah you definitely know it’s a slowing down and everything else should also slow down maybe they just changed it because like you know it slows down everything else which you think you’re also slow down pulling blocks so maybe that’s a bug is Definitely inconsistent with like the cobweb now this isn’t new to snapshots but some people I asked about this if you can make floating stand now the floating stand property was actually removed a little while ago so it still doesn’t work in the snapshot so you Could guys see this and what does is it goes right directly through these tall plants and I just occupy as the bottom you know if you stick to sand like right here let’s try it with some tall grass I click right there yeah now you can see So I guess it doesn’t work with tall flowers but it works it’s a tall grass but the flowing sand still doesn’t work I’m just talking about being able to place the sand directly inside of it you can’t do that with the tall flowers you always place this at to the side now There is some types of plants that can hold up the sand but they will get updated and the sand will fall now it’s still possible to get things to bounce up and down on slime although some circumstances it can act kind of strange after a while they will break off so Let’s go ahead and let’s drop a dragon egg on here and you can see like the dragon egg takes longer to update default downwards so you can actually sit there and then let’s go ahead and put down an anvil you notice how the anvil holds the time when It comes down it just breaks off and instead of just bouncing their eggs it’s doing some good bouncing then it eventually breaks off it’s kind of difficult to get sand to bounce as well it mostly just likes to hook on to it but it does update the dragon egg and Then the dragon egg starts to bounce which is kind of funny so this is one of the entrance end portals on the protec server and I just grabbed a real download of it and upgraded it to the snapshot so it’s oh six hey and what he had here Mel gamer actually had right Underneath of this yeah he had these Kaba walls and then the same was kind of floating above it half a block so it looked like it was kind of like staircase just like on the side you can see now with this change it kind of looks super flat and dull but did look Really cool he also had the same thing going on up here I had a hovering up there I gotta say this place looks really cool and underneath this is my sand generator it’s kind of squished down underneath here this is one of the really super fast ones I can produce hundreds of Thousands of blocks per hour and what we got here we just got some silverfish over there so that we can have the spawner without them spawning in more silverfish and if you’re wondering if the sanjana is still working this version let’s go ahead and turn this on A newt made a nice on an off switch right here so they start it oh yeah it’s a little bit leggy because of all the particles and entities but let’s go underneath and you can see how that’s working it’s pulling the sand letting I’m turning to entity and then pushing Them into the portal you can see the entities and you can see them over there as well now let’s see if it’s actually producing sand let’s go ahead and stop it that stopped it and it did not lose any of the concrete or sand on the edges Let’s go ahead and hop inside and we end up right here on the platform holy yep it’s still working guys duplicate all these sand pretty cool so I’m here in my testing Burrell with all the different types of block sizes have got categories as well it has all The different types of entity Sciences if you’re curious about this world and would like to check it out for yourself I will put the link to it down in the description I will go ahead and drop some sand on it got the command to drops And so this is the command has a lot of properties of the sand like what is lock isn’t gonna be how the fall distance if it’s gonna drop item and like the hurt fall amount you know as well as its time so you kind of see what happens when Sand falls if I just go ahead and summons I’m saying here you can see if it kind of falls off the edge it just snaps onto a grid even if I kind of stand right in the center of two blocks if I go ahead and summon saying it’s Just gonna snap to one of them and the only problem is is when you remove the block and wants to snap to then it’ll decide to pop off so there you go see I tried to go down here and try to snap to the side then it just end up Breaking off so I’m gonna go through and just throw over top of all these blocks each row here is the exact same height and see if I know anything different there’s definitely something strange going with the bails has to do with the blocks around it because this bail over Here I really have trouble making sand I’ll lay on top of it likes to pop off you see even though I’m like completely centered on this one I could only have to be centered I could be a little bit off to the side I st. has no trouble Hopping to Center so I know I was saying something to do with other blocks too here we got some conduit and typically you want to place down a santur type of conduit he seems to always want to break but if I put some snow layers beside it I’m thinking that maybe this will stop it from breaking some reason this one over here can sometimes halves and fall on top of every slightly go over to this edge and then drops us and see how I just hops on top of this and it doesn’t Break okay maybe it’s a hopper so next maybe it’s a hopper so if I go on this side and break so if I go a little bit on the side of the hopper yeah so the hopper is actually making it stand on top of this so if it’s slightly over the Hopper it’s looks at the hopper probably and says well it’s too far from the hopper to go on there so let’s put it over next block over and see if there’s a block there if there is then it will sit on top of it that’s very strange that the block Beside it can actually change if it’s gonna pop off or not pop off on the other block so let’s try this trick with this skull I just got a skull over here and typically a skull would break off sand you drop it on top of it so see I’m Not gonna go on this side of it because I’m thinking this side will pop it off yeah if I go on this side of it and drop it this should stay yeah huh that is so strange depending on if it’s close to a solid block or not it will Keep it let me try some other blocks so I guess it means that even a slab could prevent sand from falling on if it’s slightly over to the edge yeah there you go so seems I mean if a block does have some part of it that goes up a whole Meter such as like this cauldron then the blocks will be able to sit on top of it easily some are saying something like this piston here this piece right here goes up a full meter or high even though this part doesn’t and even if I stand Over here it should still snap to it I guess that’s be a little bit closer a little bit closer to the edge yeah there it goes steps to it and pretty much anything that’s less than one block it will pop off if it’s all by itself so Even like a brewing stand by itself it will pop it off only if it has like a supporting block will it then try to hop over here to end up hopping over there so I tested the most of other blocks it started testing some entities my Shockers is one of those type of mobs that most stuff don’t sort of fall through and most of these mobs just lets us say and fall directly through like you would expect but chakras they don’t when saying falls on them seems to be popping off now now when a shocker Stands up like that with his head up he still pops the sand off if you do put a saying right above it and it doesn’t fall into him you see that he will instantly teleport just like that um I somehow managed to crush I believe there was a dragon’s breath Right here and I dropped a sand and it crushed in and I made all these particles that’s kind of strange I guess the drinks breaths was like invisible or something I didn’t see it over here but it was somewhere over here and this crush dude it seems that falling sand Damages the eggs so I’ll just drop some sanur or has a chance to there you see broke one the eggs off that’s pretty strange now the trick to do with the block underneath with the boat on top and then throwing sand above it seems to work with everything from this category Here on upwards so I can use it like on the turtle eggs I was able to use it on the skull as well as the N rod and the chorus fruit plant all the way up to here so I’ve been used around like the brewing stand as well as that used to be A path block but like for the daylight sensor is and downwards it doesn’t seem to work so if I put like here on top his repeater and drops and on it it just breaks off so we got test the ultimate test cam and get saying to fall and lay on Top of a torch and not break off this is going to be something so let me stand a little bit off to the edge let me summon some sand up here it drops oh my goodness okay that is crazy okay I think that’s a bug That that just kind of sums it all up having sand falling a torch and not break crazy stuff there is quite a bit of walking has to do with this new sand and I’d love to hear you guys opinions on this do you feel like they should Bring back the old sand do you feel like if they do have this new sand you feel like they should change some of these properties and what properties should they have you could tell me that now in the
