Renfail – The Minecraft Dungeons & Dragons DLC Announcement – SO HYPED!

So I mentioned during my recap of the DND direct event for 2023 that this particular piece of news the DLC for Minecraft that ties into Forgotten Realms this was one of the things that really excites me because I’ve been playing Minecraft now for about two years it’ll be two years this summer

With my nephew who is seven going on eight my brother was the one who suggested we do it because at the time that we were gonna decide to get into it my nephew had been coming home from school and was just obsessing over in Minecraft and neither one of us had

Played because even though we’re both Gamers Minecraft was just one of those things we just never got into because it’s you know the blocky graphics and survival mechanics aren’t things that we typically enjoy but we got into it because of my nephew we’ve had a lot of fun over the past

Year and a half ish going on two years and then over the holidays this past holiday season my niece is you know five-ish years old and she was really wanting to join the boys because she saw us playing every Saturday night and was starting to feel left out so my brothers

Had a switch forever so we went ahead and set her up on the switch so the three of us play on PC and then she joins us on the switch and we play on Saturday nights and we’ve had a lot of fun now also about a year I think I was maybe

Not this last Christmas was the Christmas before or maybe it was for his birthday I don’t remember when but we got my nephew the kids DND book package that has like those four buckets in it right and so there’s a ton of artwork and they talk about you know the

Beholders and the gelatinous cubes and the heroes and the places and the artwork and all this other stuff and they give you an introduction into Dungeons and Dragons and he has also become obsessed with that to the point where he has asked if he could join my brother and I playing tabletop

We’ve dabbled around with some stuff thought we might do some Star Wars he that was a little over his head I think even though he loves Star Wars but he does love d d and he does love Minecraft and when I sent my brother this video

Earlier today at right after the d d direct event he literally was like oh my God we have to do this as soon as it comes out so I think it’s safe to say that as soon as this becomes available which it does say spring of 2023 so I’m

Assuming sometime later this year they don’t have an actual date set yet that I’m aware of um we’re gonna be doing this because it looks and sounds really cool now there is a little trailer here which I haven’t actually watched yet um so let’s just take a look here it

Looks like it starts off with a bookshelf dragonopoly there’s a starter set out of the Abyss oh my God I can’t read all of these uh something dungeon Masters I can’t read it because of the ever ever Bloom games so there’s yeah it’s hard to read the blocky

Graphics but I like the I like the miniature statues on the top of the bookshelf that’s a nice touch let’s see let’s see what else we got here So hang on that was really cool that was that was really cool um I like that right there that’s pretty sweet that that’s the pizza and like the the drinks and everything that’s that’s a great way to it’s like a grandma doing a dungeon Mastery that’s really cool I

Gotta say that’s that’s a it’s a nice that’s a nice addition all right hold up so we’ve got three adventurers here we’ve got looks like a rogue a wizard and I’m assuming well a warrior up front a wizard on the right and I’m assuming that’s a rogue back

Behind there there’s gonna be three of us so it’s gonna be interesting well there’s four of us now actually because my niece has been playing the last few months so I don’t know how we’re gonna I don’t know I don’t know what the party makeup’s gonna be yet That’s kind of a cool looking Village begin your epic adventure Oh there’s a dragon up there in the top left oh look at the dragon that’s gonna be good it’s gonna be good it’s gonna be so good Level up in battle monsters hold on you’re showing me too many things too quickly quests weapons armor stats abilities A gelatin is in this you baby in a dungeon oh that’s one of those um what they’re called the little beasts the tentacle yeah Beholder Beholder baby there’s a Beholder I wonder if that’s gonna be like the end game Boss for the for the DLC remains to be seen

Mimic and this little owl in the thing in there [Applause] okay that’s cool so yeah Journey Through The Groton realm so we’re gonna see they said in the in the description text it says candle keep icewind Dale so on and so forth Foreign Coming through a portal there I gotta say like this you know for kids in particular this is going to be something that really gets more kids involved in in Minecraft and d d and I gotta say even as an adult like being able to go

Do this with my nephew and my niece and experience these locations it’s kind of like you know when I was growing up and being able to play you know Baldur’s Gate Baldur’s Gate to Ice video isomedale 2 with my friends it was really real and visceral because I go to

Those places touch those places see those places so to be able to do this I have a feeling my nephew is gonna freak out my niece not so much because she has no idea what d d is but my nephew does There are any dangers When You Adventure all right so hold up because he had the DM screen right there how cool is that there are many dangers When You Adventure and he’s got the DM screen and everything but also hold up there was a shot here

Where did it go this one right here because they’re in in-game armor at this point so we saw him at the very beginning when they’re in like their basic leathers and then here I’m assuming that’s diamond armor um if I had if I if I had to guess

All of this looks really amazing by the way I think I might have to see if I can pull this as this as the screenshot for the uh well that might be the thumbnail I don’t know yet I’m gonna go check thumbnails out but that that shot right there of

The DM screen as you’re looking out over the players and you’re sitting it looks like you’re in a basement of some type because there’s stairs back there that are going up um and it’s all wood texture and everything and we saw them at the very beginning of the trailer like sitting

Down at a table right and then there’s the DM back there and they have the Miniatures and all the food snacks and everything else so that’s a nice way to bring the trailer back full circle and then we get a tease of something here it just it’s a tease that’s all it is

They don’t actually show you what it is it’s got to be a dragon though it’s got to be a big ass dragon there’s a window looking out over into the night so they’re playing at night time I can’t wait this is this is probably you know out of all of the things that

Were announced during DND direct this is the one that actually excites me like the movie I’m I know I’m gonna have fun with the movie Chris and I will enjoy the movie The vtt looks interesting um you know all I’m already playing Neverwinter the MMO so I mean being able

To go down into the city with dris it’s gonna be fun into the undercity but this is the one thing I think that excites me the most out of all of this because I don’t know how much content is going to be in the DLC but since it’s something

To do with my family I think this is the core of no matter what happens with Wizards of the Coast no matter if you love him or hate him and you don’t like what’s happened with the ogl and all the chaos and the corporate BS with Hasbro and

Everything else at the very least at the core DND has always been about friends family and community and this is all about coming together with your friends and family and community and enjoying Dungeons and Dragons in a shared space and you can never go wrong with that so
