This is a disor mega structure okay I don’t think I could take this seriously unlike my previous Mega structures which definitely belong to the realm of Science Fiction this Mega structure is a little different essentially it’s a flat Earth sitting on four elephants on the back of a giant Turtle in other words it belongs to a particular subset of fantasy the concept of a world turtle and four World elephants supporting the weight of the world is a feature of Hindu mythology this concept also appears in a smattering of mythologies around the world but none of these are what the Mega structure in this video is based off of you see there’s also a certain 40 plus book fantasy series written by Terry pretet called dis World unsurprisingly these books take place on a disc-shaped world sitting on the back of four elephants who are in turn standing on the back of a galactically Proportioned Turtle since the reader is informed that the turtle is swimming through space the turtles all the way down theory is of no concern I’d highly recommend the series to any fantasy en enthusiasts especially if you’re a fan of parody but now without further Ado let’s get started the biggest problem to Solve ahead of me is scaling the turtle itself will be a recreation of the Minecraft Turtle since the turtle consists of a bunch of big pixels I can start by translating one pixel into one block most importantly the turtle is 9 pixels tall and 35 pixels wide let’s Imagine that the disc world is 1,500 blocks across how big across would the turtle need to be well well at least a few hundred blocks bigger how about we make the turtle 1,785 blocks across seem oddly specific well 1,785 is what happens when you multiply 35 by 51 if I made each pixel or block 51 times bigger the turtle would be 1,785 blocks wide more importantly if I made the turtle 51 times bigger it would be 459 blocks tall that’s already a lot taller than the normal World height and it doesn’t even include a disc world yet Of course I can increase the world height using the data pack but I don’t want to increase it too much because if I do performance will greatly suffer so I decided on a total height of 576 this allows me a little over 110 blocks of height for a disc world with An exact diameter of 1,61 blocks this is my one to1 scale Turtle where each pixel became one block it’s about to become a 51 to1 scale Turtle each pixel gets turned into a big square like what you see in front of me here as you can imagine this might take a While well that might have been the worst time lapse I’ve ever done the next few hours of building were quite the roller coaster of emotions but ended up going nowhere what happened was immediately upon completing the turtle I discovered world at it has a command that can scale Up blocks in a certain selection I tested it on my small turtle and sure enough I was able to double it in size with one command was I a fool could I have done this all along to scallet my turtle 51 times with one command I Decided to test it out I had to know and um it it didn’t work I believe the reason why is because gaming up from one block to 51 blocks would make everything solid as opposed to my current Hollow turtle in other words the game tried to create Millions upon millions of blocks And just crashed so it turned out that I was in fact a fool just not in that particular way I have a giant turtle but what about the four elephants the world sits on well believe it or not I actually fully intend to include them but they’re just going to be very Small yeah that looks about right next up is to create a ring of diamond blocks 1,601 blocks across this is the circumference of the disc world I need to turn this circle into a square by adding four segments of gold blocks to create corners on the outside the circle Once I extend the layer of gold blocks the rest of the way to the max build height I’ll have a mask which will allow me to pce ter into specifically the area of the circle as per usual a simple task like creating one quarter of the mask and Pasting it three additional times took way longer than it should have thanks to like regardless the mask is in place so all I need to do now is add some terrain while I won’t be exactly replicating the disc World geographical map because I’m not building that much Train by hand I Will still be keeping the train in the general Spirit by creating one large continent and numerous Islands this means I won’t be grabbing just any old terrain from another world I’m specifically looking for medium-sized Islands I can yink the easiest way to search is by using the chunk Base Website where you can enter seeds and search for things like biomes and structures okay I think I’m on my fifth or sixth seed and I’ve come across something promising this island here is over 1,000 blocks long and several hundred wide and it contains a multitude of biomes ranging from swamps to Mountains and mega tigas let’s check it out in game that looks familiar I’ve explored the entire Island and discovered it even includes a village I think this will be perfect as the main island or continent on the disc world after some difficulty I’ve managed to paste this region into the disc for Anyone attempting similar projects I’d recommend using light matica schematic paste feature for a large amount of blocks light matica pastes chunk by chunk and therefore is less laggy than world edit pasting it’s also more forgiving during crashes and that you don’t have to completely start overp Pasting if you happen to crash your game during the process like me a lot I already have another piece of terrain queued up and ready to be pasted in one of the two remaining openings on the disc I found the second area in the same way as the first and it Contains smaller but similar Islands as well the third and final area check it out three pieces of land and C have been turned into one there are two problems that arose as I was pacing these firstly biomes don’t transfer with copy paste so I had to manually add them myself which Has resulted and weird borders despite using the sphere tool not really sure what I’m supposed to do secondly since we’re over 400 blocks in the air the game thinks all the water should be freezing into ice some of this resolved itself once I switched biomes but lots Of Aries are still trying to freeze anyways there’s two remaining things left to do first remove the gold block mask and lastly deal with the ocean waterfalls maybe there maybe it should be called ocean Falls actually I think there’s a specific name for them that we’ll get to obviously I need to install A circumference Yes you heard me around the edge of these oceans because Turtles keep swimming off see this giant waterfall we can’t be having that it looks ridiculous as you can see also in this picture here the water disintegrates into mist only a short Ways down from the disc I need to do the same thing in the world this is a prototype consisting of barriers and glass that I’ll be implementing around the entire disc well these Turtles aren’t long for This World perhaps they’ll find another one if they fall far Enough I’m very pleased with how the rimf fall turned out looks like my last great challenge is getting this build into blender for a thumbnail somehow not an easy task as it appears this build has around 43 million blocks but I’ve managed it i’llbe it into pieces and Without the giant turtle it’s actually just a very small turtle scaled up oh heck there’s still stupid gold block loobs left over ruining the view let me go correct that now check out this uninterrupted view of a finished disc world best of all depending on your render distance and where you’re Standing you might not even realize you were on a disc at All anyways as as usual you can get a world download of this build for yourself over on my patreon big shout out to my patrons you guys are awesome oh and uh patreon recently added a Shop features so I’ve put some of my older schematics of builds that weren’t Previously available up there you can go check those out if you’re interested and by the way I might be working on a 100 player event soon involving one of my mega structures so keep your eye out for that thanks for watching hope you enjoyed and if you made this far Consider leaving a like and subscribing it’s always very appreciated hope you guys have a great day and I’ll see you next time bye I can’t imagine what I would even say this has become Aion is changing me Video Information

I built a Discworld sitting on the back of a giant turtle in Minecraft. Inspired by Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, this megastructure is over 1700 blocks in diameter and is comprised of over 43,000,000 blocks! ___________________________________
