SciCraft 2: 20,000 Redstone Dust Per Hour As A Gift (Episode 5)

[Applause] Thank you hey guys welcome back to another scycraft episode today we’re going to finally do it after we worked on a geode problems for a while we’re gonna now finally work on a supply of redstone we’ve actually been mining for red so dust a couple times and this can no

Longer go on so usually in this version of Minecraft the most efficient way to get redstone quick it’s no longer like building a witch form or trading for it usually these days you just build a raid form but in my opinion The Raid firm is way too

Op for this game I never liked it I never tried to resign one or do anything with it I just from the get-go hated the raid form it would actually go as far to say and I just don’t want to build one um what I always liked was a different

Type of race form which isn’t called raid form it’s the Villager gifting from so there’s a mechanic in the game if you have here of the Village from yeah defeating a raid uh villagers would give stuff to you I always liked that also when it came out one of the first

Snapshots immediately the methods made a design about it and really always liked the idea of it but you never really got to building one in survival but today is the day you’re gonna finally do it and we can also really push the rates with some clever tricks so we can definitely

Exceed some of the usual yeah stacking rate forms in terms of redstone power and yeah get all Redstone this way without having to rely on the op rate firm so I just don’t like him one of the reasons is they just replaced a whole lot of the game

Um for example no point making a creeper Farm anymore you get gunpowder from it no point trading for emeralds anymore it could just get more than enough from it anyway and now I get a lot of redstone if you’d ask me uh the rate form should not yield any gunpowder emeralds or Red

Sun dust or all of that stuff because well there’s no wood shops you need to build anymore a lot of the game just got well simply replaced by yeah mechanical could also be really interesting there’s a lot of depth straight from but I just never felt it was right so that’s all

The reasoning why I don’t like the raid Farms but let’s actually meet up with methods and to sign a villager gifting form okay so methods is going to give us a little rundown of what needs to be done in order to make the phone work yeah basically we’re going to stand here

Let me get a sword basically we’re gonna come from the nether we’re gonna arrive here we’re going to detect that with chunk loading instantly turn the portal off in the meantime we’re swinging with an auto clicker just like that and then we’re gonna count the cycles

And every other thing like a cycle is going to take like 35 seconds and every 40 minutes basically since we’re always working them here right so basically we’re working them here after 26 seconds When we arrive here we have to turn the portal back on and

Exactly they drop all the items and we are gonna disappear to the nether in the nether we’re going to instantly detect that with chunk loading turn the portal off and on so we come back to here and repeat the cycle and every like X Cycles when it equals like 40 minutes we’re

Just going to push down a composter here that makes us a village it’s going to start a raid and then we have every second chunk another piston with a composter and a villager it’s going to move the center to over here mm-hmm and it’s going to try to spawn

Down there and that’s a more than 128 blocks away from the player so the raid instantly finishes we just have to make sure in the meantime we need a short pulse lengthener then in the meantime when we start the raid we need to kill one of these pillagers here yep

Basically before we move it out yep so other than that it’s pretty simple and then we can do we want to add the no flint and steel stuff tonight portal again I just go for the steel I guess we could go for fire charges but right now it’s hard to get yeah

Right now we could just slap some Flint Steels in the same dispenser yeah same deal I only make 500 foot still is gonna last a while maybe you don’t really don’t need to wait a minute we actually need iron in Iron plums well I guess he could do the

Portal thing although it’s a lot more work like we need to see each area and then we need a piston firing to detect if the portal got made so we can retract the blocks because you can’t detect that with an observer or but so far from it

Can we get those honey slime hay bales all right so this was the rundown that methods gave me and then we started we are working on designing this from it’s by the way really hard to put the design process in a video because usually it just takes multiple hours and the big

Gaps of nothing happening in between and yeah it’s really hard to put it in a video just want to show you the defining design which in the end yeah we came up with all right um I’m just gonna give you a full rundown again how this design

Will work in the end okay so where do we start we have a Pillager Outpost here at the bottom this is by the way the closest one that spawned towards zero zero because there is a problem with the portal um linking or selling a player from one

Dimension to the other that’s why we had to actually go close to the old area which is visible from here this is the closest one we could find okay so what happens is um when we turn the mob switch off then this grass platform here is still within

The bounding box of that villager Outpost so the normal pillages would spawn on here then they get attracted by the Villager would pay a fine towards them and just pepper and into the bubble column and now send up to the player all right um so what we’re going to do next

Is to start a raid to get the hero of the village effect but first let’s talk about this portal issue that we discovered when deciding the firm um so the problem is actually the player gets minimally shifted every time over when going through the portal and this yeah problem increases the further

You’re away from zero zero because it’s basically in in accuracy problem if you would build this farm at the world border the player is shifted by two blocks every time he goes through a portal and we’re willing to be centered in this of course so with all of those

Villagers standing around the player that are within range of you know throwing items towards the player as gifts if you would end up in the other corner of the portal eventually then of course then half the form wouldn’t work so why is this happening at the game basically needlessly converts a double

So basically the players position as it’s saved into a float and then back into a double um this guy said there’s really no point doing this and if this wouldn’t be done then the problem also wouldn’t be there so we made a bug report about this but

That’s why we had to go close to zero zero in order to make this form work okay let’s carry on with the explanation okay so the goal is to get the hero of the village effect which you get after defeating a raid that’s why all of those

Pillars send up here and are dropped in front of the player you would stand AFK there and whack the pillagers with a sword eventually a Bandai carrier would come along then we get bad Omen and then in order to start a raid we need a valid village within a range which we don’t

Have initially but there’s something we can do as soon as we have bad Omen we can activate this piston here which pushes down a composter next to this villager so this guy will then be assigned to the composter he gets profession and that’s all you need for a village

Then the pillagers would always spawn in the center of all the near workstations um if there’s multiple in this case would be only one but this wouldn’t be too great because in this case it would just spawn below us but but we can shift the center of the raid by pulling the

Workstation or the composter back up and then yeah pushing another compost down a couple blocks over so then this guy has a profession and the center of the raid is here then if you do this a couple times over eventually this will be the center of the raid and the location

Where the pillages are sent in or the raid wave is always the highest spawn of a block in this case the little platform at the bottom uh we do this in order to complete the raid quickly so we don’t have to fight all the up to things seven waves of the

Raid uh yeah we can just quickly stop the raid there’s also a behavior that existing pillages would join a raid is actually really important so we still get pillow just being sent up here usually part of the first raid wave this is important because we wouldn’t get the

Hero of the village effect if we never defeat a single enemy within the trade that’s why it’s important some of the villagers would join here we defeat them and once the raid is over we also get the hero of the village effect it’s by the way also detrimental to have raids

Going on all the time because during a raid the villagers wouldn’t give us any items so we basically have hero of the village for 40 minutes in that time we don’t want to start any other raid so that’s why you know the workstation here stays up but after 40 minutes we gotta start

Another race in between we definitely will get bad open again from backing all the pillars here all the time and yeah we basically have a counter to keep track how often the player arrives in the old world and goes back to the nether um why do we even go back to the nether

Not just stay here the farm would also work perfectly if it will stay here for 40 minutes but it’s not as efficient usually the villagers would gift you something every around three minutes but you can basically reset the AI by unloading them so that’s why we go to

The nether go back to the Overworld then it takes about 30 seconds we get the next gift from the villagers compared to every three minutes so we’re just switching between the dimensions we can boost the rates by about five to six times that’s why we do this here

Okay so the player comes back from the nether arrives in the Overworld still standing in a portal the first thing that happens then is that because we load those chunks again the frost Walker almost then freezes the water this always happens if you just reload a new

Area so the water will freeze here then this block of detector which is right next to the frozen water there would then detectors push the procedure eyes immediately down so it melts again and then just a new water sources formed for next time okay so then we immediately dispense buckets of water

And suck up the water again to break the portal um because well while you’re standing in a portal you also couldn’t hit the the pillar just there he also incremented the counter here by Oneness of the dropper counter um which currently there’s only four items so we need to

Adjust this usually there’s like 60 in there um okay we need to adjust the stir um so after a certain amount of times which usually adds up basically to this being loaded for 40 minutes um then yeah we start another raid um so discounted then yeah trigger this

Whole chain again and a new raid is started um so this takes around 30 seconds until until the gifts are thrown by the villagers which happens pretty much all at the same time we also have to wait a little bit so there’s this little clock here hands down yeah until around 26

Seconds because it also takes four seconds for the player to go through the portal and then we light the portal again here with flint and steel so methods discussed if you should use something that doesn’t require flint and steel another way of doing it would be a

Later to use the higher charges which you can get from a bartering Farm but there’s also an option to light the port fire spread by pushing some hay bales next to it that would then catch fire but fire instantly ignites the portal so that the heapers wouldn’t burn it’s

Quite complicated maybe we can short it another time if you maybe make a second version of this Farm but it’s also possible to not use flint and steel and use this fire spread instead it’s more complicated and the only benefit is not having a crowd Flint the steel which lasts

Forever anyway so yeah technically Possible little benefit of actually doing it especially is this requires more time right now to design it okay so let’s talk about the rates of this Farm a little bit so we’re getting either one piece of Red Sun dust or one lapis every society seconds from each of

The villagers in case we have one thousand in there which is basically is around the maximum we could do then we would get 500 Redstone Dust every 30 seconds or approximately 1 000 every minute or 60 000 per hour which definitely can compete with any rate form um

But of course it’s also a lot faster than for example a witch form which would have been another option to get some rest right now or Quarry something like that so it’s definitely up there when it comes to getting a lot of redstone dust but of course it’s not as

Overpowered because you only get the single type of item and it’s a lot more effort to make this because the biggest part of this project is getting all of those Villages of course so we need to make a breeder first and then all of those guys need to have a profession but

Yeah it’s kind of annoying if all of their pois would be around um because that would actually cause extra lag so show them a lag testing video unemployed Villages cause less like than employed ones so we need to basically give them a professional by trading with them and then break the POI again

And we have to do this for hundreds of villagers but yeah first thing to do is actually make a breeder and it’s really convenient if you fill up seven slots of the breeder villagers um with seats so they have only one slot available and in order to get the seats

We also have to make a farm so methods and I quickly went to creative and basically Speed Run making the most ghetto seed form and built it up in the nether all right so we quickly built this beautiful machine of redstone history um yeah quick and dirty

Um so let’s turn it on it’s basically a flower farm built in the mirror Dimension why flower farm you’re not getting any flowers well that’s the point um we build another because you don’t get any flowers there anymore as it was changed around 1 16 or so definitely 112

If you’re still getting dandelions and poppies missing also a white flower no no not anymore so that’s why it’s basically a seed only Farm which was kind of what we wanted uh yeah the collection system really simple one hopper Minecraft going around picking up the items then we have

Uploading system here which you didn’t use water for or to save and some effort just drop him down and over the collection system they go into our double chests here we have plenty of seats now all right yeah this should be enough um this basically helps us just get a

Few the bombers storage below and one dispenser is all we need okay okay so of course in order to feed the villagers for the breeder we also need either potatoes carrots or bread or something like that so we built this little setup here the little potato farm that is based on bone mealing

Um so the way it works as soon as the Villager here harvest the potatoes and plants new seeds uh The Observer right next to detected trigger the dispenser um and then the seeds would grow a little bit which triggers the observe again basically triggers the respects again until they’re fully grown in the

Village are just harvested and we can pick up the items through the yeah dominant here okay then potatoes go to the breeder I’m just gonna show you a sign here real quick so you got pairs of villagers standing on Powder snow and The Villages are equipped with leather boots so you can

Still put armor or the Villager a bit like that forever and they have here all the normal inventory slots but you can’t see their armor so that’s why we don’t see their boots yeah so that’s why they don’t fall through the powder snow but the babies they breed well they’re able

To just drop down have you already removed the pads here in the back which are necessary for the breeder so they’re also just set up with Patsy on the back which are half fineables through the trapdos probably know it how it works then yeah all the babies would then be sent to a

An entity cramming proof holding cell in case you get a big badge same time as soon as they grow up it goes through the slab stair and I pulled out by the water and Ascend in here into this chamber um methods actually made an entity cramming proof chamber

That you could also get villagers out individually but apparently it broke in with 19 so the sign worked still in 117 in 2018 but broken were 19 so we had to adjust a little bit and didn’t have entry cramming proof design here um so the problem for anti-craving is basically

You couldn’t pick up villagers standing in Vines for example um because well it’s based on collisions which divines disable which is the whole reason why they don’t enter the crime but anyway um people are basically constantly filling in villages in the Celsius anyway so usually I just had a guy standing here

Um we still have the Brewing stands I actually spent so many hours on this a couple hours was then placing down brewing stand turning the Villager into a cleric trading with him once and then sending him uh into the yeah holding cells there which was also quite

A pain so if the we did this with the active we’re not the ejector rails activator rails and uh now they are also standing instead of twisting Vines so they don’t enter the creme they’re all basically yeah got groups of 10 villagers in each of those cells okay so

That’s how we got to this point by the way I needed only 400 emeralds because of each cleric let me click on one now just um requires one Emerald to trade with and I got those emeralds but actually we have a little um pumpkin farm with main storage I

Would have just grabbed some potatoes here our farmer villagers as I already looted in one of the episodes in the end are insane so you can trade a couple hundred thousand times with them until they lock their trades so I quickly went there traded all of the pumpkins I had

And got enough emeralds for this this will be by the way also in a way we’re gonna get a lot of emeralds without a raid form so this final point of us making a raid firm unless somebody once installed thems um but anyway so now at this point you

Can start up the farm and see if it works alright so let’s try out the farm I actually quickly how to remove this Horizons from my mod folder because it breaks the farm it takes a lot longer to unload all the distant Horizon stuff around the player every time you cross

The dimension so it would first of all slow down the farm and there’s also some client-side timings it wouldn’t work the server side typings afterwards so that’s why I had to be removed um we also need to be precisely aligned in the middle of the portal so all the

Villagers would be within range I’m just going to exit the area through the player portal okay this is this one here we also the items are sent to the nether okay then we can go down here to this setup this is where the detection of you know for loading the nether

Dimension is uh we decided against using the Frosted ice approach here because players are moving around in the nether is a lot more likely than in the overt at the exact dead spot so we have a puffer fish detector instead we can see here there’s a puffer fish

Inside of a minecart inside of a water block so he doesn’t die and he’s partially you know the micro is partially here in the golden pressure plate in case we get near the puffer fish he will puff up the hitsbox expands and then there’s two entities on top of the

Golden pressure plate so the Redstone yeah signal switches to two and this piston is then activated which in turn will yeah trigger um the first dispenser here that dispenses lava and sucks it up in again so the portal is broken we of course need to break the portal

Um because yeah to refresh the portal cool down then with a bit of delay that there’s the other set of um yeah the steel we have you know the dispenser that would light it again okay and you can also try it out but just um

We are going near it and here we have this Mica that aligns the player precisely so we get in the minecart immediately ejects Us in the center of a block so check it out and that’s the perfect system okay there we go now we go to the Overworld where the frostwalker boots

Yeah immediately detected us oh yeah you can also see what happens with the zombified England still supposed to pair find towards some turtle eggs on the side um I don’t think right now this would cause an issue though okay actually quite unlucky that he actually spawned there

Um you can also do something about that but anyway let’s start up the farm so I got a sword sweeping sword already killed some villagers here which was quite unfortunate if it’s not supposed to happen he can’t even get it back in later so you can see three spots are unoccupied

Um yeah so hopefully there’s a banner guys we have bad Omen perfect so I’m just gonna wait a little bit before I start it up so it gives enough time for another Pillager to arrive from yeah it didn’t activate the warp switch oh yeah in order to mobs to spawn down there

People need to turn off the mob switch I think it’s actually check another mob switches off otherwise they wouldn’t go up here okay all good then we can try it out okay let’s start the raid there we go got a rate now we also still have to defeat defeat those pillages all right

And we should receive the hero of the village effect might take some time though okay the clock also started so any moment we should be sent to the nether then hopefully once you come back we get the hero of the village effect revealed sometimes when you get it here we go

Okay this was the office system yep we have here of the village if you can see no top right that’s the effect okay there we go now we just arrived here yeah we would now just keep working the villagers with the auto clicking script just gonna go in free cam real quick

So now we got a good overview yeah over the Villager so it takes exactly 30 seconds then you will throw all the gifts some of those items will actually slide on the eyes so that’s why we have packed ice there and because yeah you have better walls and fall into the water stream

There we go so you just saw it just before we go through the portal yeah all of the Redstone is sent over okay next cycle the server is struggling right now because there’s so many players on the farms are running but maybe you can still catch the items

Here they’re send up here in the water stream go through the player portal as well and we can maybe quickly step out on the nether side and check out what happens with those items let’s maybe see the next batch of items arriving we had a server struggling a little bit

Well it actually takes longer than 30 seconds but it’s all server-side timings Villages and so on there we go it is the next batch if I just hope you saw it okay actually gonna step out of the portal here you can oh and a big set Factory over it

Um yeah we’ll just go through the player portal as well check out what happens to the items there we go so they basically just dropped down here and that’s the idle collection system we actually built because using our nether water um it’s always a bit painful actually to get it there

Because each water source of course has been spread individually and so on takes a little bit of time by the way while we’re talking about what in another you might remember peaches Castle here where we had tons of wizards for the brown mushroom farm um they used to be just blue blocks here

But now we have actually actual water in the mode let’s take a look inside yeah you’ll probably remember this setup here oh it’s pretty insane for the brown mushroom farm go ahead missile is really low actually it’s always a shock to the system okay yeah let me just have tricolores and

Yeah here we can pick up our redstone and Lapis was actually picked up a ton okay this is also in case you ever want to build with lapis blocks in a larger scale that’s the farm to go it’s basically the only yeah automatic farm that can supply you with lapis apart from

Um trading villagers yourself to get lapis which is the other option all right there’s still one issue though that is need to work on it’s a little bit a little bit technical so apparently there’s still an issue there’s more players on the server that on the second

Reset when you get to basically the rate and here of the village a second time uh you wouldn’t get here of the village for some reason other players somehow interfere with that um it’s probably crossing the dimensions are right here now is to um in case the rate started not activate

The portal creation immediately again and wait a little bit longer until after this process correctly the little adjustments still need to be made but after that it’s done Kenya really run this form get plenty of redstones we don’t need to worry about it and yeah I didn’t need the rate form all right

Um I’ll just quickly turn this off again all right so this is our first Redstone form in the server and here of the Village Farm that we built in survival super happy that it works a little problems it’ll be iron out but yeah nothing that would be a deal break at

This point so pretty happy with this in the future we want to make a more sophisticated forms of this type of also villagers of a different profession the stone Mason for example second one is really interesting because they can give you clay blocks so you can get up to 60

000 clay blocks per hour which probably is more than you can get with the with going the mud to Clay conversion route where you also have to produce the clay or the mud in the first place somehow uh there can probably get like 25 or 30k clay blocks power for machines get too

Large and too laggy we’ll have to see I’m definitely gonna try this other route as well but yeah probably the gifting form will be faster in the end in case we need a ton of clay for some reason which of course can then also be transferred in terracotta and
