Hi everyone I’m late I’m also Luke but most people know me as Rubik 10 years ago I started a Minecraft server called cubecraft for me and my friends to play on a decade later things are well a little out of hand a little ten years is a massive Milestone and to celebrate We’re doing our biggest cute Craft update yet behind us we have a massive team of admins developers designers and Community moderators over the years we work with over 500 people so thank you everyone who’s been on this great journey a major part of the birthday celebration is the fact that we’re Updating our base Minecraft server version to 1.19 this has been a massive technical challenge to find out more let’s grab a coffee with our infrastructure director Marco hi Luke oh wait it’s Rubik we run Minecraft at a hyperscale with hundreds of thousands of daily players worldwide we have over a Hundred projects that work seamlessly together they’re backed by millions of lines of code that we have developed over a multitude of years as you can imagine some of that code is quite old and our developers have grown in knowledge a lot since so when they’re Working on some of the other code it’s a little look my old code is interesting when I first started cubecraft I didn’t know how to code and so that meant I had to be a little creative the Minecraft server itself sits at the core of cubecraft and not only is that being Replaced but we’re making many changes to a lot of our core code a lot of the work that we’re doing at the moment is invisible to players however we’ll lay the foundation for another awesome 10 years of cubecraft tech is cool however I’m sure you’re interested to hear how This is going to impact games for that we’ll go over to me where I’m joined by two of our admins come hi Andrew hello there we can’t talk bills about talking a hello [Laughter] no oh okay can I go to the bathroom we can’t talk about updates without talking blocks our Build team have been incorporating the latest block palette into a lot of our builds your favorite maps and even our City Hub have amazing new refreshes including new maps and one of them even has the warden in it I can’t wait for you guys to try it out resource pack support has improved Massively in recent years and we can now support custom blocks items models and guis now we’re not saying too much as we want to keep a few surprises in this release however I was a huge fan of oga Wars back in the day it was a lot of fun In season two egg Wars we’re stripping it right back to its core gameplay to reclaim some of that original magic now it is interesting having a lot more vanilla mechanics what we want to remain faithful to the core Minecraft game now you’re probably wondering when is this being released how is this being Released for that we go over to Rubik and Zed none of them if any of us look down we can just always put some text into the top oh no you’ve got text over our face basically like subtitles or something hi there I’m Zed I’m the managing director Here that basically means my role is to look at all the boring business stuff required to keep cubecraft running boring but necessary we’ll be doing a soft launch exclusively on the Java Network so that means a few weeks before we go big on our birthday celebrations All of these updates will be coming to Java first we’re excited to bring huge changes to Java that’ll bring in players old and new and they get to try out their favorite game mode in the latest Minecraft version the first few weeks following the launch of the update will Be rough so please be patient with us whilst we balance the games and fix any issues within the next couple of months following 10 years of cubecraft we hope that the next 10. following 10 years of cubecraft we’re hoping that this will be the next huge step forwards I’m afraid that’s all We’ve got time for today thank you so much for sticking around um so exciting and we’ll see you in game Video Information
