Why isn’t Minecraft fun anymore this is a question that many people have asked and many people have tried to answer typically when this question is asked people say that it’s not fun anymore because of how easy it is or updates haven’t been good or there are too few Updates something along those lines but honestly none of that is the main issue so in this video I’m going to figure out the real reason why Minecraft isn’t fun anymore and it won’t just be me pointing out the problem it’ll also be bringing light to a solution but we got to start Somewhere so let’s talk about the biggest reason why people think Minecraft is boring and that is progression Minecraft progression is incredibly simple get gear in the Overworld from mining or villagers go to the nether to get blaze rods and ender pearls Use Your Eyes of Ender to find The stronghold hop in the portal and defeat a fairly easy boss you can progress Minecraft so quickly that the world record for a random seed without any major glitches is 8 minutes not even going to talk about the set seed speedrun for Minecraft which is about 2 minutes by The way so with how easy progressionist you can imagine why people see the game as boring but these people forget one key detail Minecraft isn’t a game about beating a dragon it’s a game about making your own world if anything the dragon is just a side quest when talking about Minecraft objectives and Progression I like to bring up two games Terraria and don’t starve starting off with Terraria although Terraria and Minecraft are both sandbox games they are drastically different in how you play them Terraria is a game that is entirely built upon progression it has an extensive list of bosses upgrades and Stages of progression that you go through some call it a Sandbox game but at its core it’s a Boss Rush now you might think I’m bringing up Terraria because I think Minecraft should aspire to be like it and its long and engaging progression system but there is a Different reason why I bring up Terraria Terraria as a game ends with the final boss speak to any Terraria player and they can confirm they don’t long back on the worlds after killing the moon Lord because there’s really not much to do like yeah there’s post gape content and You can make some incredible builds but at the end of the day Terraria isn’t a game about building it’s more just kind of a bonus feature that’s tacked onto it now compare this to Minecraft for many people killing the final boss is seen as the start of the world where you can get Yourself a pair of elytra and build to your heart’s content the game doesn’t end when you be the final boss it’s just beginning this is why I think progression doesn’t matter at all in Minecraft it’s just it’s not a game about progression it’s just about building and having Fun I feel like people are too focused on the end game rather than the way to get there here’s an example of of that so there’s a game that faced very similar issue and it’s called Don’t Starve it’s made by Clay entertainment Don’t Starve is a game that is not Forwarded in the slightest with how you should progress It’s just like the point is just to survive it is very nonlinear and that’s why many people who first pick up the game look for an achievement list and if you got the game on Console closely after its launch you would see One goal survive three days so of course you know people picked up the game made a base built Farms became Masters that survived die I’m just kidding I’m just kidding no people saw surviving 3 days as the goal so they just sat around a campfire for 3 days for the achievement These people completed the achievement but at the end of the day they didn’t really get anything out of it they didn’t have any fun they just sat AFK around a campfire I think you can see how this compares to Minecraft people who just play Minecraft to beat the ender dragon As easily as possible won’t get any fun out of the game people wonder why they find the game boring and it’s like yeah trading sticks with villagers for hours on end for maxed out gear so you can easily kill a dragon is super boring so Why do you do it and so here lies the true issue with why you find Minecraft boring it’s not because of the game it’s because you’re making it boring for yourself Minecraft is about many things but Above All Else your main goal for the game is just to have fun think about When you first got the game when you went to Target you got a physical copy of Minecraft for the Xbox 360 when you played you just had fun making a cool house you had fun going into creative and making a base out of diamonds and gold you had fun filling a Village with TNT and exploding it all you had fun making a big castle out of cobblestone because you mind a huge hole in the ground none of the stuff helped to kill the Ender Dragon you know was all just for fun so when you play the game stop Thinking about what your next goal is stop thinking about how strong you can get stop thinking about killing the ender dragon and just have fun just load yourself in a survival world and make a house out of wood don’t have to be a good house just make one make a wooden Box that you’d make if you were 10 years old in front of your computer just do some mining if you think villagers are op don’t use villagers if you think Shields make the game easy don’t make craft a shield Minecraft is a game about shaping your experience so shape your Experience it’s your world to do stuff in so do whatever you want if you get bored find something new to do if you don’t want to build a house go mining in a cave if you don’t want to go mining in a cave go exploring for new structures you got so many Options recently I joined an SMP and I decided to take what I said to heart I play the game differently and I had a lot of fun with it I’m going to end the video here and you can watch my video on the S&P if you’d like but if you want The main takeaway for this video I’ll summarize it one don’t play the game to beat it play it to have fun in the end Minecraft is a game and your only goal when playing a game is to have fun so just do what you want to have fun Two if you think in addition to the game like villagers or Shields is Bing and overpowered don’t use them when you play in Minecraft you you can literally do whatever you want So if you think a an addition to the game is bad just avoid the addition three just find something you Enjoy whether that’s fighting mobs in a cave building a house or making a mini game on a super flat world just just find something you enjoy and do it if you get bored of one thing move to the other thing and at the end of the day your Only goal in Minecraft is to be glad that you played so go
