As numerous people have noticed, the charatcter rig is very similar to one made by VMComix. The face topology of his rig inspired mine, yet the character in this video was made from scratch (mostly because I like to have nearly 100% of things done by myself in my videos and it was a great chance to practically learn rigging, such as making armature structures for toe-heel movement and other IK structures.) You can google VMComix’s rig if you need a great rig for yourself.

I originally uploaded it on my 2nd channel http://www.youtube.com/user/DeleteThe…, but currently deciding to continue uploading here 🙂 It’s been awhile since my last upload but I’ve been busy with some 3D work I can’t freely upload and just enjoying my Summer 🙂
I’ll try to put up more 3D content after I’ve set in university and know how things are going there 🙂
Anyways, here’s pretty much the first animation where I focus solely on character animation. Was a great learning process for rigging and char animation.
I wanted to create a different MC animation because the number of MC animations ending with a creeper explosion is too damn high =D I’ve summarized the plot here if you don’t quite get it (which I understand, I’ve never really done a highly story driven animation before so I guess I have a lot to learn):
Steve reads a random book, which seems to have nothing in it until he turns a page again revealing the first part of the ripped-out paper “Steve, never…”. He wonders thafuq is this and when he stands up, a piece of old paper falls from inbetween the book’s pages. He picks that up and finds out that it is a map. He follows that map after locating where the mysterious “treasure” would be and starts mining until he gets to the chest. Inside the chest he founds a 2nd piece of ripped-up paper which he finds out, matches the page inside the book. Then he gets the final message “Steve, never look back”. So basically instead of the book just giving him the answer/recommendation, he needs to work and figure it out by finding the 2nd part of the text. It’s like in school- you really don’t remember all the stuff teacher “feeds” you, but if you find stuff out on your own, you’re in a different league.
