Minecraft Origins Mod: Storm Chaser! (Custom Origin)
Another week, another Minecraft Origin! The creator had the idea of introducing an origin that predominantly flies, and after much hard work, the Storm Chaser origin was born. This new addition to the Minecraft Origins Mod is sure to bring a whole new level of excitement to the game.
Features of the Storm Chaser Origin
When players spawn into the world as a Storm Chaser, they find themselves at Y level 256, at the top of the world. This origin allows players to naturally hover, and by holding the sneak key, they can descend. Holding the space key allows them to ascend. To activate flight, players sprint in the air and press space, which activates their elytra and boosts them at the same time. They can continuously boost by holding down space, but this does drain their hunger.
While in the air, players will have a cloud particle effect underneath their feet, but it will not be visible to them. They can’t naturally hover when their health is at one heart or lower, or when their hunger is at three bars or lower. The Storm Chaser can wear full leather armor with golden boots or chainmail boots. However, wearing any “heavy” armor will cause them to start sinking. While wearing heavy armor, they can still fly, but the boosts will propel them less, exhaust them more, and have a longer charging time.
Players can sleep if their bed is at Y=100 or above. When in the air, they accumulate a static charge, and when the charge is full, the cooldown bar disappears. To discharge, players can touch the ground or water, which will do a little bit of damage. Lightning will strike when they hit someone on the ground, when someone on the ground hits them, or when they land with full charge. However, it’s important to note that lightning destroys all items, including netherite, in a 3×3 radius.
Technical Breakthroughs
The creator shared some insights into the technical aspects of developing the Storm Chaser origin. They mentioned the challenges they faced with the hovering mechanic and how they overcame them. By using negative integers in amplifiers, they were able to achieve the desired effects without the side effects that were initially encountered.
Additionally, they discussed the target conditions and how they set up different parameters for entities riding other creatures, ensuring that the lightning strike effect worked as intended. These technical details provide a glimpse into the intricate process of creating custom origins for Minecraft.
Conclusion
The Storm Chaser origin brings a unique and exhilarating gameplay experience to Minecraft. With its flying abilities, static charge mechanics, and interactions with weather conditions, players are in for an adventure like never before. The dedication and creativity of the creator are evident in the intricate details and technical breakthroughs that have made this origin possible.
