There is a villager in minecraft that in my opinion has one of the absolutely most beautiful skin designs however it is relatively unloved in the game having no place to call home despite living in this beautiful swamp biome the swamp biome with its murky waters and ominous surroundings seems to Be the perfect place to set up a little village so i think it’s about time that we give the swamp villager a little bit of love with this village design and no we are not dedicating this village to track let’s get into it so to begin i’ve picked out a bunch of Villager houses on this flat seed i want to actually transform the building so that we do stick to the scale of normal villages although i’m not trying to make this look in any way like anything that mojeng would create themselves we’re gonna go a bit crazy with this starting Off with this church putting in a beautiful witch’s tower instead featuring a bell at the top and then moving over to this larger house adding on two layers and also making this look more like a farm house i wanted to have a water feature and have it actually Interact with the swamp and so this water wheel seemed to line up absolutely perfectly and i think it’ll look great once pasted into the biome of course we do need some smaller huts as well these are going to be really important as fillers between all of our big main important structures and you’ll See this done in the actual villages in minecraft as well you have a lot of these smaller huts scattered throughout now let’s talk for a moment about the palette that i decided to go for i had a little bit of trouble deciding on the palette to be Honest i mean it’s easy to stick with those classic browns the spruce the dark oak but i wanted something that’s going to match the murkiness and really give that atmosphere that the swamp biome has so along with sticking with those very muddy colors i also wanted to add a Little pop of color and the prismarine is what does that for me i know that’s not something that would ever be in a default village but a girl can hope okay of course every good village does need a blacksmith and this one is going to be set up just right loving those campfires As little accents in certain areas the logs just work so so well moving on to a two-story house you’ll see i tried to add quite a lot of variety in the shapes here keeping the style very very consistent with that very heavy overhanging roof and fairly simple walls with no depth but adding Different accents to each and every structure that makes it unique and gives it an obvious characteristic that is different from all the other ones and denotes a job for the villager who perhaps lives there i thought that this gave each one a unique touch and i hope That it sets the village apart from others once all of our structures have been lined up it’s time to move over to our swamp biome so i quickly paste over all of my houses and once they’re in place this place is looking good already but it’s missing a lot of detail so let’s Get started on that first thing we need to do is connect everything together in villages normally they are connected with some path blocks but then also over water you have these sort of bridges that form i wanted to do that as well but we’re not just gonna do planks here Of course campfires and trapdoors are perfect and then to add a little bit more of that sort of ominous smoke or steaming rocks off in the distance absolutely perfect lots of moss surrounding and this atmosphere i think is just missing one thing trees now i’m not gonna bury this building Trees don’t worry but i did think that this was the perfect place to add in a willow tree when i began building back in 2013 willow trees were some of the first that i built i love drooping these leaves and i think that look just turns out perfect If you want a tree tutorial on doing these completely by hand block by block i will link it up above of course we can’t just have one tree variant we need more than that so i decided to go for three one that is a willow one that is Just a dead tree with vines and one that is like somewhere in between hopefully it fits the atmosphere well now let’s go see the finished results shall we This build has so many little details to it that i think really make a big difference to the atmosphere of it let’s go around in game and take a little look at some of the things i’ve done with some shaders on these shaders are bsl shaders they are my absolute Favorite at the moment walking along these paths the first thing you’ll know that i’ve done is whoa we’re having a dance party okay i’ve added a lot of muddy areas around here and i’ve also okay we’re dancing with dancing i think the soul sand really messes with them Uh my bad dude i’ve added a lot of podzilla spots too but basically i’ve tried to give it this very muddy look around here i could have done this by adding a lot of wool in here as well i think probably some green wool i’m kind of like this in places it’s Just a little bright for this biome but i think in somewhere like a jungle or a dark oak forest adding stuff like that i mean to be honest it kind of even works here like it’s not bad just to add that little bit of mossiness and i’ve tried To do that in a lot of different places you’ll also see these sea pickles scattered about as kind of like maybe fungus growing in spots and the bridges are very very varied that was a weird sentence but you’ll see some of them are made of these campfires going in Different directions and it transitions down to trap doors or it has stairs and slabs in them i tried to make them look just very rustic and old and worn down and i think this detail is definitely one that i appreciate in this style this little fisherman’s area right here is One of my favorites this was originally one of those houses that kind of the roofs kind of converge as if it was two houses so i think connecting them as if they are two houses and the way to get to the one on stilts ah so lovely Another simple tip that i know most of you already know is to make it look like your stilts or your logs or whatever are actually wet in the water i did this with some stripped wood here you could have also done it with the dark um darker variants of the barked one like For example the jungle would would have worked really well in this scenario to also give it a green tinge i like the stripped wood because i think in natural scenarios with water beating against a log like this the bark would come off i’ve seen a lot of driftwood in my days That definitely happens but i’ve also done it with these just regular posts as you’ll see it transitions from the dark oak to the spruce strip the spruce does have more green in it but i decided that was a fine compromise for the central area of this village Normally there is a well or some type of fireplace in some of the cooler ones so i decided with this one to kind of compromise and combine that we’ve got these water areas with the cauldron and also the fireplace as if this is a nice communal cooking area i thought that Would add to the witchy vibe that this place kind of needs if i’m being honest i like that it has that and i think having witches integrated into a village like this would make a really big difference of course we do have a little bit of interior nothing fancy going on Some spider webs some herbs hanging up potion brewing areas just general kind of creepy stuff i tried to get like skulls on shelves things that i would normally do but that fit the biome just a little tiny bit better i feel got a balcony up there some simple beds Nothing crazy going on in here but hopefully it gives the correct feeling that we are looking for around here let’s cross over on this bridge it looks like this bridge has become a nice communal area for everyone hello can i can i squeeze through here thank you Thank you gentlemen as we come along here we have our blacksmith and this has one of the heavier roofs of all of them because of how tiny this roof is i mean this building is only three across before the pillars so these are some very very thick rooves To have on a structure like this and i know that this isn’t realistic to what mojeng’s villages would look like but i think the detail works really well with the style that i’m going for in this biome having that heavy roof and i’m balancing that heavy roof detail with The fact that the wall down here is very flat and very simple if this was all super detailed like that roof it wouldn’t balance near as well and it would look really crazy and be too much to look at of course along all of the pads i’ve tried to add as many details As i can we have lanterns and vines we have the steaming rocks down there the mossiness the bubbles we have the tree trunks that are kind of cut off pumpkins all around and over here we’ve got another one of these stilt houses this one actually still has the original Interior that the village house i transformed actually had so that’s kind of cool if you’re wondering how i did this this is actual barrier blocks right here all i did was give gemini tay and then barrier and it’ll give those to me it put them right here And then as you can see the barrier blocks just shot really really simple way to get this ladder in place but if you couldn’t do that some trapdoors here would also work really really well overall i really enjoy the feeling that i’ve been able to achieve with this Village i think the types of trees in this biome work really really well and it is something that i would like to see more of in the vanilla game is some variants in tree as you go from biome to biome no more of those oak trees with Vines on them maybe something like a willow like we have right over here would actually be nice i mean coming upon a willow tree in minecraft can you imagine that’d be absolutely beautiful to sit under and it would definitely motivate me to build a lot more in this Biome as always let me know what you thought of this transformation down in the comments down below i cannot wait to hear from you thank you so much I think it’s about time the swamp biome got some love! This village featuring the lovely swamp villagers, with stilt houses, a water wheel and a witch’s tower seems to be a good fit! Let me know your thoughts on this village design!
