Ladies and gentlemen, a new version of Minecraft is out – Java Edition 1.17.1. My name is slicedlime and I already have another video up with all the main gameplay changes, you can check that out in the icard on the video right now or in the video description – in this video we’re going to go through all the technical changes for things like commands and custom worlds. But let’s start with a change for servers. This is one that possibly won’t interest you unless you are implementing a server or running a server network. When a DNS-based redirection was done – a so called SRV record in your DNS – the client will now send the hostname actually used to connect, rather than what the player typed in. This is a change that restores the behavior from before Minecraft 1.17. Let’s move on to Commands. The item command had a bug where ghost items could be created when the server didn’t update client inventory correctly, that bug has been fixed in this version. Another bug fix is for the clear command, where if you had previously thrown out items From an item stack, that stack was not properly cleared – that is fixed in this version as well. A fix for entity data: In some cases, enchantment levels were read in without the appropriate limits being applied. That has been fixed in this version so you can no longer create enchanted items with Levels above 255. As I mentioned in my main gameplay video, goats now use any effects they have when performing their special behaviors. That means attack power and strength now apply for ramming a target, and jump boost is applied when performing the long jumps. A tiny recipe fix – the group name for the smelting and blasting recipes for lapis ore had a typo which has been fixed in this version. For custom worlds there’s also a fix – the roots_system feature used the wrong field when loading values. The allowed_vertical_water_for_tree didn’t get properly read in – that has now been fixed and that also means the value in the vanilla file for rooted_azalea_trees has changed from 3 to 2. In addition, this version contains many stability and performance fixes, including fixes for Custom world related crashes but also a performance fix for a problem that occurred when placing down custom player heads with an invalid owner. And those were all the technical changes in this version. If you want to know more about what changed for Minecraft 1.17 I have a full technical Changes video up for that as well – you can find that in an icard on the video and also in the video descripion. But that was all I had for you in this video. If you’re interested in this type of content also please consider subscribing to the channel. I make update videos covering both gameplay and technical changes for every new snapshot, pre-release, release candidate and full release of the game. Thank you very much for watching – my name is slicedlime and I will see you next time. Take care, and goodbye. Video Information
