Hello ladies and gentlemen captain check here and welcome to my top five voxel games now let’s not get into technicalities about what a voxel is I’m well aware minecraft doesn’t actually use voxels to render but this is the term that most people think of when they think of a block based creative games Let’s get to it another early access title in this one you play the role of a colonist who gets rammed out of the sky while landing off faraway planet you manage to make it to an escape pod just in time now you’re left with a few survivors and an entire Continent to explore unlike the rest of these games this one actually has a full-on storyline with an ending it has RPG like skills the ability to craft and customize weapons and vehicles and has full multiplayer support sadly when I tried to test the multiplayer the servers were down so I can’t report on The multiplayer aspect just yet the game’s boasting about 20 hours of story lines 70 plus enemy types with another 30 in the pipe you can build your own house plant farms have followers make and manage a colony with even more features on the way such as building Boats mechs armor all in the custom item creator literally when we say make this I’m talking about like choosing how what kind of hilt you’re gonna use and what kind of blade you’re gonna use and what color the texture is made out of not just drop some stuff in a menu and out Poops a friggin weapon it’s pretty cool this is definitely one to keep an eye on for sure This one’s promising a lot calling itself a role-playing game with boundless freedom to roam about in a 3d universe it’s a title that just recently made it onto the Steam greenlight page and has hit about $300,000 in crowd-sourced funding you’ll notice how each plan in the universe is a cube made Up of thousands of blocks the entire planet can be broken down and reformed and it’s not without its challenges if you want to leave your planet you have to build your very own spaceship to do this though you’ll have to gain the natives trust and get access to their Master craftsmen with a giant variety of combat styles to spec into like heavily armored Knight to a stealthy ninja dungeons and boss fights to fight and sweet loot to be had getting valuable tech and resources all this and you can build custom vehicles it looks pretty cool they showed a motorcycle already Now the question is will they be able to live up to everything they’re promising in the Kickstarter I hope so because I want to play this game this is the only game on this list that’s being developed by a big-time company and not a small upstart EverQuest next ins companion release Landmark are being developed by Sony Online Entertainment with a world that can be completely constructed and deconstructed by players it promises to be one of the most unique massive multiplayer titles in the last decade the most impressive aspect is the fact that players are actually helping build The main portion of the MMO world with landmark being the precursor to the main release some of the best player builds are being brought over to the main game the coolest feature is you can actually take your builds and turn them in the blueprints so say you make a kick-ass House it’s a great way for creative types to make some game cash and awesome for people who just want a cool house and have the design skills of an orc space engineers out of all the games being worked on this is the only one that has updates coming out just about Weekly it’s an impressive mix of gather building design and combat in this title you can mine resources build fighters capital ships space stations form a faction and fight with your friends build massive mining barges and tear apart asteroids it has Steam Workshop support that lets you download and play other player’s Creations quickly and easily you can even copy these builds from other saves and paste them into your own save once the game is ready they’re gonna offer full-on modding support which will be coming out soon letting players with the right skills add new blocks design your weapons and just about anything people Can come up with that’s one of the aspects I really love about this game and when you play it you build the really really big ships and I’m talking like to scale star destroyers you realize that right now the game might not be able to handle it it still needs A lot more work on the engine but someday maybe a year or two from now we’re gonna actually be able to play these giant fleet fights when computers are stronger and the engine is a bit more solid it’s one of the funnest games I’ve played in a long time with that Creative building aspect and it’s just different enough from minecraft to be really worth a play I highly recommend you guys check it out the developers are coming up with new blocks and new things you can do weekly very cool the popular concept for a voxel game is Is a creative building game with blocks there’s only one game that comes to mind block building at its best known the world over for allowing people to build anything they can come up with inspiring a generation of gamers to think outside the box Lego yeah you can build anything with These little buggers your imagination kingdom up with sure doesn’t meet the honest definition of what a voxel is when it’s nothing more than the combination of the words volume and pixel a voxel doesn’t typically have their position their coordinates explicitly encoded along with their values instead the position of a voxel Is inferred based on the position relative to other voxels making it different than say polygon rendering technology which is what minecraft uses to render its graphics but you know what this is even better because it gives me an excuse to play with some Legos alright guys if you’ve got a favorite Voxel style game a creative game where you build stuff you explore new lands then let me know in the comments below I’d love to see it cuz I want to play them enjoy this video hit that thumbs up button subscribe to the channel for more gaming goodness and as always thanks for Watching I’ll see you guys next time You Video What is a Voxel Game?
Commonly referred to as, “games like Minecraft,” voxel gameplay is a new approach to creativity in digital space. The user is able to construct anything that comes to mind one “block” at a time using various materials and textures.
