Thaumcraft Minecraft 1.12 Basic Auramancy! Bit-by-Bit by Mischief of Mice!

Welcome to the mischief I’m Valen and this is thumb craft for Minecraft 112 today I’ll be covering the basics of ro Mansi and how we can have a little bit of fun with your casters gauntlet so if you watched the first episode we ended with making a casters gauntlet but never

Actually using one that’s where we’re actually going to come in next with our oh man see so you have not yet begun this research click here and you’ll have to make a blank lesser focus which requires some Oram some pre can’t a she oh and 20 vitreous this is going to be a

Little bit more challenging to come up with if you’re not familiar with thumb craft so I’m going to try and give you a little bit of a shortcut so to start with you’re probably gonna want to get some smooth stone have some of your you know the crystals handy that you may or

May not need and I’m gonna recommend that you make probably two sets of these now this is just my own personal preference you don’t have to do this I’ve got a couple of extra of Ignace crystals here so I’ve got a whole bunch of arcane stone what good is arcane

Stone well first let’s make ourselves a couple sets of arcane stone slabs and I’ll demonstrate a little bit further here now I’m taking those slabs like this make an arcane pedestal the reason for this it’s because it has magic on it and it’s just at the cost of like one or

Two crystals and a whole bunch of smooth stone probably the cheapest way I could think of without getting too much overflow of other materials so that you can get some magic on there or that the little magic wand now the other items the Orem that one you might think is

Going to be difficult but it’s it’s actually relatively easy you just need to find one of these trees here and it’s going to have a whole bunch of well the silver wood logs it’s a silver wood tree you can use the sapling if you really want to but as they’re a little bit

Tougher to come by than the logs themselves then I recommend you just get the log and get a few of them I’m just bonding them in so I don’t have to cut that tree down and then I’m going to just put them in here turn them into

Planks and the reason I’m turning them into planks instead of using the log itself because I can get more Oram this way is because if you look I have a whole bunch of I think it’s Arbor is the the green leaves that means a lot more waste that I would have to convert

Into crystals and I always end up with a huge amount of that so I’m just converting them into logs so that I’ll have a little bit less of that to worry about don’t forget about your catalyst that you’ll need one or Dovie shard or crystal so therefore I just toss all

These in there there there and there and poof we got ourselves one blank lesser focus so it is now complete which then it unlocks the next step of basic aura mansi which is to make a stone table and a focal manipulator which is going to be our caster focus creation

Device and it will require 100 V in the area with this mods help shift-click everything into the table does require a couple more V crystals 100 V in the area but there we go I now have a focal manipulator and if you want to help with your research

Should have this where it starts reading things for you if you need to you can always just click on these a few times and right click will delete stuff now this here in the center what the eye represents you this represents the next item that you’re going to put in place

If I choose touch then that is going to be the effect it is something I touch or within a few blocks of me that I can touch then you give it an effect will be set on fire or will take fire damage depending upon things that you go now

Similar to an anvil you can actually rename things up here so we could do this a flame touch there we go and it has information on the side so you’ve got your complexity your experience cost your V cost V per cast crystals required all sorts of things and if you click on

This different options may or may not appear so it’s a little overwhelming at first but it all will make sense in the end so the complexity this is how challenging each item will bring to the table touch to fire to so therefore a

Total of 4 out of 15 so you have a cap this is a basic or a blank lesser focus so therefore it’s only gonna have a 15 maximum complexity therefore you can’t put very complex spells on here we can’t enhance them really really high or something like that now in this case

Touch has a very low complexity and should be very easy fire has some customization to it but I don’t think you can max it out even on this one now there is an XP cost to it I currently have 9 levels at the moment I may or may

Not increase it as we go but it will cost you some to just commit to this as you do this then you’ve got a V cost and this is using V from the aura around the it actually will pull from the aura and they will slowly the aura will slowly

Fill in to where you’re at as well so it’ll just take a little bit longer as all v per cast is how much v in the chunk that you’re in is used every time you cast this spell and then of course crystals required you need to have a

Versio and ignis now a versio is usually anything to do with weapons so if you just get like some stone swords toss them into your crucible and then you get yourself the the crystals that way you should be good to go get some mercy oh and some Ignace because they’re going to

Be our main ones that I’m going to be using today now if we go on here and we choose fire of course touch doesn’t have any extra options fire does you can increase the burn duration a burn duration of zero means that it won’t actually set anything on fire power on

The other hand means the amount of damage it does right now if you hover over fire it says it hurtles flame at your target and sets it alight with 4 attack damage the equivalent of a wooden sword so it’ll do two hearts of damage but you can increase that

And every time I increase that you’ll notice that the complexity the V cost and the V per cast will increase so I can increase it up to a maximum of power level five which will give it eight attack damage which is pretty darn good actually so that’s four hearts every

Time it hits and it still has some more complexity before it maxes out so we could actually set it to burn things for longer now I could keep going burn duration of five seconds but look it’s too complex for this lesser focus to work with now V per cast three point

Four so it’s still going to be pretty darn cheap considering that there’s over 300 in this chunk but if you run into a chunk that has less and you’re constantly spamming this thing you’ll probably eliminate the V in the area and you’ll have to have a longer cooldown

Because V will then slowly fill into the chunk that you’re in let’s reduce the burn duration so that it’s less total complexity 15 out of 15 we can start crafting at this point if for some reason you think you have everything set and you can’t find anything wrong and

This is still not ready to highlight even and you know you’ve got the levels and everything try clicking down here once or twice and then it’ll probably work just fine then you’ll slowly see that the V is the cost is reduced as it starts making the tool and poom there

You go we now have this you can pull out flame touch which and put it on my hotbar here now there’s an easy way of doing this you just press your F key by default is set up for this so you may have a key conflict with swapping items you know

With your offhand or something like that so you might want to change that in your config or in your controls menu but otherwise you bring up this little menu here and it you can choose any foci that are in your inventory or in a pouch which we’ll go into next so therefore I

Can do this I can highlight over this click it and you can see it has all the information at the top left here you know burn duration three seconds power of five the name of it 3v per cast etc I click it it is now in the gauntlet I

Right-click and I do a little flame effect if I’m actually let’s go outside here out here like and I aim at something it will set it alight because I gave it a flame duration if you give it no flame duration it will not actually do that is something you should know is if

You want to unequip something from your gauntlet so there’s nothing in it shift + F should do it or your key that you assign to bring up your little wheel there so then you can actually take this and you can redo it let’s say I don’t

Want it to set things on fire because I like the forest I’m in I just want it to be maximum power and I’m fine with that you know so therefore you want to do touch and fire because if you don’t do if you if you don’t don’t have touch in

Here and you just have fire you’re just gonna set yourself on fire so be careful with that one but then we do this and this and it’s rewriting on the same basic casting focus here so now if I hit this choose here I go outside it’s still

Gonna do the same damage on hit but it’s not gonna set things on fire anymore so therefore that’s a little bit safer for you a lot of people don’t like some of the the fire aspect type items because they may set things on fire including mobs and stuff but it now does

Some damage so if I bring a friend in here let’s say a spider volunteer is brought in and then we just torch him see he’s set alight but the the floor and objects around will not be so there you go once you’re done running around scanning stuff hopefully you’ll have

Enough observation already set click complete and then you can move on and make yourself a focus pouch which is actually really really basic recipe for it is a mundane belt which that L chemical brass ingot that I showed you how to make in the first one can be used

With some leather to make the mundane belt you craft it up like so with 25 in your arcane workbench one piece of gold it will cost you a little bit of V from the area and you now have a focus pouch now what good is a focus pouch well if I

Unequip now you see here I don’t have any other focuses in my inventory if I unequip this focus there for Mike on casters Colin is empty but it’s not in my inventory it is now in my focus pouch along with any others that I may unequip

Or switch out and on top of that you can save it in your inventory just by putting it on your belt slot here so you don’t even have to have it in your main inventory you can store it as a bobble thing there so where to next

We can continue on in all sorts of interesting ways but I’m going to say that at this point it’s going to make your life a lot easier if we can get to the workbench charger by way of the recharge pedestal which actually isn’t going to really be that much use to us

To at the moment but it will be later on in other tutorials that I have this of course will cost one theory in orem ANSI and if you have not done so be sure to click your arm ANSI boost before you start creating your theories and see

What you can do in order to try in advance remember this at the bottom means that you just need to have it in your inventory this with an exclamation mark means that those items will be consumed if they’re in your inventory aha and here is an excellent example of some of

Those celestial studies if you have some of those celestial notes I talked about in the previous tutorial then this will definitely give you a big boost 25 to 50 inspiration boom all sorts of interesting stuff there we go wow wow yeah that really worked good complete

Theory and there we go I now have learned a little bit more about the theories of our romancing completing that I get a recharge pedestal which a recharge pedestal strangely is not going to be that effective right now but you can make one set it down and use it to

Charge things with V but we’re not going to be covering that today what we’re trying to get to is the workbench charger which of course will require observation and more theories in orem at sea and we go enough that I have done my research and complete this and make a

Workbench charger which is actually pretty cheap to make I recommend you make at least a couple of these now let’s make two of these things it’s gonna cost 200 V each which will take a little bit of time for this to do this but this is why here I can already fix

This I just simply need to put this on top of my arcane workbench and look look at all the V that is now available and I have two of them and in fact I can put the other one on top of my focal manipulator which this will allow you to

Take all of the V in all the surrounding nearby chunks by one chunk radius around us but let’s get back onto using our castor focus and making some fun stuff we’re going to start with elemental effects which hopefully you’ve done some more arm at sea observation of scanning

Things air gel um which is just you need to scan some kind of snow is going to be an easy thing especially if you’ve scanned a snow golem then you’re gonna be set and Terra I’ve complete that and you gain yourself a few extra options before you only had fire and now

We can do something a little bit different so first let me unequipped this then we can take that same focus or a new one alright so as you can see we now have same as before touch but now we have air earth fire frost heart no I’m

Just kidding but we do have several new options air is going to do a massive pushback as well as actually some air damage though it is very less or low Earth is going to be a bit more damage and has potential to mind things in a specific way may break weaker blocks

It’s it’s gonna be more along the lines later on but for now it does some earth damage then of course you’ve got frost which will do like a slow 3 effect as well as do a bit of medium damage so let’s do a touch with air and you can

See that as opposed to fire where it would set targets on fire this one just has a power rating I will need a versio and air crystals though now that I have those let’s make this air blast effect and we’re just going to start crafting

That up so now if I hit F to bring up my wheel I now have two foci to choose from and I can use air blast which is actually really cool allow me to grab another valent here put one of these guys down here and you can see it does

Damage and push him away at the same time no not a lot of damage and each one of those castings did use V from the surrounding chunk so the lower the power on this the the more often you can spam things or the faster you can spam things

I could feasibly cast things much quicker let’s do this with earth will keep the power low let me get some terror crystals we’re gonna call this one earth touch and then we’re going to craft grab that focus then of course we can hit F to bring up our new wheel and

You can see that we’re doing a little bit of damage here and of course who can forget frost which in this case you can actually make the duration of that slow three effect be insane and just increase the power moderately you know there or they’re you know nine seconds of slow

Three power – not gonna do a lot of damage five attack damage but then again it can be a lot of fun so get myself some gel um the crystals in this case and then I should be good to go start crafting grab that out and we now have

Another new focus frost touch which is really really good so here let me bring down a spider friend there we go I’ll put myself in mode one and yeah they’re pretty much stuck in a very slow mode for a very long time yes be our

Slowness – in this case so yeah and of course you can just keep blasting for more damage so you can do a focus on effects you can do a focus on you know your your damage or we can continue on and get a little bit more fancy still

With projectiles of course you’ll need a theory on our oh man see once again something that you’ll need to have studied and motifs if you are unfamiliar with motifs it’s not that bad you’ll just need some wood and a crafting grid so that you can make yourself a trap

Door then you just scan that and get yourself motifs understood and that should take care of that one yep there it is now I just need to do some study there we go I now I’ve completed my projectiles studying and I should be able to continue on but uh oh we’ve got

Some other requirements a normal projectile a fiery projectile and a sticky projectile I have to have been hit by all three well a normal projectile is easy enough I recommend in this case getting yourself a dispenser a button an arrow and a fire charge but

Now that I have them I can place this down here I can put an arrow and the fire charge plus a button here and I can start experimenting there we go I learned more about projectiles as well as I learn even more about projectiles and that should take care of the first

Two requirements there a fiery projectile and a normal projectile the last one a sticky projectile this one actually will probably pause a few people what you’re gonna need to do is go out into the world find yourself some llamas but in my case I’m fortunate I

Have the ability to spawn them in so I am going to do exactly that and it has to be a babe doesn’t oh but there we go we got that taken care of get out here you know for that so I learned about it just by getting spit at by a llama and

We are able to complete this now that may take a little bit of time but you now have some new options that you can add on top of the ability to shoot things at a distance so first let’s put down a focus we’re going to keep it

Simple instead of touch we’re going to choose projectile and then we’re going to choose something else let’s go with fire for now because it’s just easier to work with now if you look on projectile we have a projectile speed and we have some other options none by default

Bouncy seek hostile and seek friendly so none means you’re just shooting it and it hurts whatever it hits bouncy means that it’s actually going to start bouncing off any solid blocks including things like grass so be aware of that seek hostile this can be a little bit strange as well as seek friendly

Obviously it’s going to hurt hostile mobs friendly mouths but it’s not going to not hurt the opposite either it just means that it’s going to actually have a an option to go towards those types of entities once it’s on a downward path so if it’s arcing projectile will shoot in

An arc and it starts going downwards in its arc it will then start homing towards something that is well either friendly or hostile to you depending on them so the faster it is the less likely it’s going to be homing the slower it is the more likely it’s going to be but

It’s also not going to go very far I recommend somewhere around three on average should get you the projectile speed you want if you’re going to want it to be somewhat seeking flame projectile and therefore it now if I go outside and I’m I have some targets

Nearby let’s aim at this guy here and I start shooting it towards him there we go you can see it actually kind of homes in on him but if he’s here and I’m shooting there you see it does not actually do it because it hasn’t had the opportunity to actually start falling

Naturally it’s still on it’s a intended path so if you aim a like further away then it has a possibility of actually kind of homing in on the target all right so let’s make something like bounce we’re gonna keep this one err we’re gonna keep it power

One and we’re going to have it actually bouncy projectile speed let’s make this one super fast because why not that just sounds like fun err bounce there we go and I’m going to go into a small area actually this might work in here so let’s try this it just

Bounces around yeah yeah and it’s gonna keep on bouncing in this enclosed space I can just spam a bunch of these everywhere and the room will be filled with all sorts of bouncing balls which yes you notice there I got hit by one of them so it’s it’s just gonna bounce on

Regular blocks but yeah like I said before it will bounce off of grass which can’t be really weird the trajectory for that but it works real good in things like caves underground so enough about projectiles let’s get onto something even more interesting we want focus medium bolt and I can now learn focus

Medium of bolt there we go and what does this do this is kind of a mixture between touch and projectile I will explain more as I make one of course you’re going to want to choose bolt and then some kind of effect in this case let’s make it Frost

Now you notice the bolt doesn’t actually have any options there we go I now have my ice bolt ability so if I look over here ice bolt I now have the ability to shoot I’m kind of a lightning zap effect and it’s kind of a medium range it’s

Very effective at about like 20 blocks or so would be my guess and you can use it to great effect it’s just you can zap things to death real easy so it’s very very fun and it’s a lot faster than the projectile wanted you could choose a

Level 5 speed for projectile but yeah I find that this one just works really good for instantaneous effect and a really cool whipping electricity animation regardless if it’s ice air earth or fire well you know let’s backtrack a little bit and go to the arcane mind because this this is

Actually really really good you’ll need to do some studying in theory and are mansi plus you’ll need to have a tripwire hook and vinculum if you haven’t scanned vinculum yet it’s available in a gate a door or an amber bearing stone or even in a trapped chest

Which you might even use this tripwire hook for there we go I’ve done my studying on both artifice and are oh man see I can complete that and move on so the arcane mine is not good in a quickly offensive ability it’s best for a planned attack I place this in here we

Have arcane mine and then we can add in other effects we can add in of course usual let’s make it earth this time and you’ll notice that it has a target type non friendly or friendly so therefore you can have it safe for things like villagers or animals or will not trigger

This you’re basically setting traps on the ground where you’re standing so if we set it to friendly then it will attack those that are friendly to us so instead we’re gonna keep it to hostile mobs I will need some vinculum shards and that should be good to go

Earth mine so let’s go outside and set some traps now if you look here when I cast this so a little ball just dropped where I was standing and I can just keep on clicking this in all sorts of these will be dropped in this area effectively

Making traps every time that I set one of these out it’s very strong and very powerful if used properly so I poke this guy here come here you have him come to my wall of Earth he takes a lot of damage from these or can potentially it

Just takes a few seconds though for these to actually activate so if I’m trying to use it in an active manner it’s not going to do as much damage you see he’s just walking right through it so then I’ve got to lure him back over it and he’ll start taking the damage as

You can see here we have the focus modifier scatter has now been added this one here is really really good you’ll need to do a little bit of observation on RMC and theory are oh man see there we go I’ve done my research and I can now complete the scatter focus

Modifier which adds a whole new world to everything here so this will basically allow you to shoot multiple beams let’s start with scatter then bolt then air so this is how it starts with the order in here you need to have the scatter first and you can use this with touch if you

Want so effectively you can have it just directed around you but for the for this I’m just gonna go with this air you can turn up the power level if you want obviously I’m gonna keep it down low because you can add in trajectory Forks and this is the spread angle you see

Some of these characters over here it’s just a little hoops with the percentage not translating violent code but if you look here it’ll be a 30% cone in front of you 60% our 60 degree cone in front you 90 degree cone in front you and this

Isn’t mean like just in your you know it’s like flat plane this means in a large circle so therefore you want to keep this small I would recommend 10 or 30 if you want to hit something in front of you otherwise if you want something this is gonna go crazy all over the

Place you can go up to 360 and you can add in up to 10 trajectory Forks which can be really insane so we might as well do that just so you can see what it is I’ll increase the power just so it’s maxed out so what does this add it adds

A bit of complexity to it and the effect multiplier changes depending upon how many Forks you add in so I can increase the cost on there now let’s take this air fork there we go and you can see that there’s kind of air shooting everywhere kind of thing I look like I’m

Getting zapped in some kind of crazy experiment but that’s that’s the basic idea with this now that one’s kind of wide spread so if you narrow it down we can change this so that it’s just got let’s say three trajectory Forks 10% spread angle actually we get up to 4 and

I don’t think we can increase the power yeah increasing the power that much is a little too much and we can yeah can’t really go that much so let’s increase the degree 1 and then we could potentially go up a little bit so there we go sorry

Adds a little bit to that a little bit more of a power there we go a little bit of a trade-off so I’ve got kind of like this little cone area in front of me ish that’s kinda how it is all right so now aha I’m shooting generally in the area

In front of you can see that it’s kind of like a broad circle so this is why you really want to stick with like a 10% field otherwise you’re kind of randomly zapping things you see I’m aiming here but I’m not necessarily hitting there

With each shot so it can be good in a group but it can be really really awkward too so here’s what we’re gonna do though I’m gonna show you how best to use this arcane mine this is where it is folks this is where it is so actually I need

To first select scatter mine and then whatever element you want in this case I’m just gonna use air because well now that’s just gonna knock things away I want to set things on fire and slow them let’s go with frost in this case and we’re gonna do maximum amount of

Trajectory forks it doesn’t matter the spread angle so we’re gonna max that out just so that it reduces the cost frost we want multiple power effects in fact we’re gonna do that in fact we’re gonna go with earth just cuz I don’t want these guys slowed down I just want

Maximum damage there we go – and I might be able to target non-friendly yep okay so we should be good to go recall this on earth mines as in plural it will drop ten mines at a time which is really really going to be strong and

It’ll drop them all in the same spot so this one’s gonna be really crazy so let’s try this earth mines alright now if I go out here and I actually here we go I’ll go into this view you can see I’m dropping a lot of mines at once so

Every time that I click this I’m dropping 10 months so as before you saw I was dropping a bunch with spiders coming at me so I can actually give him a oak now that they pretty much just died instantly so it’s really really yeah good for the

Stuff a lot of fun for trapping or ascending guys to your traps and therefore yeah yeah that that’s that’s where that was really going to shine and yes the mine effects will over time disappear they’re not permanent so I think that’s about it for today we’ll cover the rest in an advanced
