Hello my name is bear and welcome to well this is rotary craft this is a mod which is a kind of like uh industrial craft and all that it’s about creating machines generating power transferring that power and powering cool machines um i think relatively recently it had sort Of a major ish update from what i’ve been reading um and i’ve just started playing around with it so i thought to do a little video on sort of a few basic things on it what we’ll look at today is um the very very basic of this mod so the First thing you want to do when you get this mod is you want to make a rotary craft handbook what this does i’ve got one in my hand here and also have one in this chest here rotary craft handbook what that does is basically a guide for This mod effectively it’s got tables of table table like basically contents of everything you do in this mod it’s still a work in progress mode so a few things aren’t complete yet um it’s great it basically tells you all of those basic things and how power works In this game is um if we just look over here is it divided into sort of what’s torque and speed um watts is divided is made up of what’s kilowatts megawatts torque is newton meters nm and speed is rotation to second rotational speed and how that works out is is power the power Of something is torque time speed and you can generate power different ways and use different ways to change the torque change the speed generate different amounts of power and different machines require different types of torque different type of speeds to make it work um another thing you’re going to want to Make is a screwdriver um i’ll show you the recipe for the rotorcraft handbook it’s paper some redstone and iron it’s pretty straightforward and the screwdriver again right relatively straightforward and wood stick another piece of iron and this thing here is the angular transducer what this does is if we just um Head over here to this little example i’ve made um what this is is this is an engine called the dc energy space is of the base most basic sort of engine power by redstone signal so switch and then it’ll start working and this here is called a shaft this is A way of trans transporting power um there are lots of different types of shafts and they have different different properties obviously different tiers or you can get different tiers you can upgrade them all so if you got the wooden which is like that relatively simple to make and then obviously you get this Stone so the stone rod for example is just stone it’s like that makes basically a stone stick and then the more advanced you get the more um difficult red becomes and you’re going to need a lot of steel in this mod um something on there the steel shaft Requires a mount which is for steel and this base power which again is as you can see it’s a lot of iron uh a lot of steel which is made from iron and diamond getting more more expensive bedrock you actually with this mod you actually harvest bedrock but We’ll get to that later um so let’s have a look at this so this thing here is called a dynometer um what this does it’s basically like a meter it makes it measures how much power is coming just for for example see how things work if i just turn this on You’ll see this motor starts turning the shaft starts turning you see the power coming in there and then we’re getting one but let’s say one kilowatt power which is from four torque and uh 256 rotations a second so that that that power out there is basically four times this going off our Equation here the power equals torque time speed so that we know that this engine is generating one kilowatt power it’s got four torque and 256 rotations a second pretty straightforward um so let’s first thing we can look at is um this here it’s called a blast furnace um oh don’t do that Um blast furnace well i can’t explain what this is for and how to use it um first things first when we look at is the screwdriver um we’ll just turn it off because it’s nice in the background um when you place blocks in this you can obviously rotate things with the Screwdriver like this and you’ll see there you have a green and ah well sorry you have a red output that’s because it’s an engine it the red is the output uh if we just click on click with the uh angular transducer on this shaft here it basically says what its output is and Also says what it’s transmitting if i just keep clicking here you’ll see you’ll well the green and the red will stay up the um excuse me the red is the output and the green is the input so obviously from here we click on this one We see the green is the input side the red is going into here so when we turn this on the power goes through there and into there that’s kind of things work so blocks different blocks when you click on it with the um angle you’re trying to Do so basically say what way what orientation it’s facing um so obviously in this you’re going to need a lot of steel because a lot of them a lot of the recipes and stuff require stealing goods but to make that you need to make first thing is a blast furnace a blast furnace Is relatively easy to make you need stone bricks and redstone and this recipe here like that that makes it a blast furnace so let’s take these iron ingots here and blast furnace works with heat so you need a heat source so you can see here i’ve Got a block of lava and if you just surrounded by um glass just so we can sort of get better better look at so you can see there’s lava under there and if we just click on here we’ll see it’s got some heat in it requires coal as well then we put some Iron ingots in and you can see there they’ve already started to make them the good thing about this is it makes whatever’s in there it makes them all at once so we just put in a stack it’ll probably make one at a time but if we put in for example like this Basically makes stealing it very very quickly so you can make a lot incredibly fast but you do need a lot of it for this mod so if you if you can play this mode legitimately obviously i’m in creative mode here you’re gonna need a lot of iron ore So that’s steel ingots and that’s how that works um it’s gonna be dark let’s make it daytime there we go um so first things what i wanna do at what what we’re gonna look at now is the um so we’ve got the shafts here um shafts Obviously as i said before is a way of transporting the power so we’ll just turn this on we’ll see what’s going on see the power comes out here down this one and into this item in this block here which is called a beveled gear now bevel gear is basically a way of Turning power for example you can see here this one is set to go down here and it goes down there and that way you can see the power coming in same path we’re using the same engine and how these things are made if we look at this recipe here they are base panels And this is where you can see how much steel you need for this mod i’ll just go ahead and turn off that uh switch there so as i was saying this is the recipe to make the beveled gear obviously you need one stealing it there two tiers two steel shaft units which Again is made from three steel ingots there base panels more steel two times gear units were made from gears which again more steel as you see lots and lots of steel um and that’s basically way of sort of moving power around so if you need to Move power from here to here i’ve used these two beveled gears and it kind of turns it there and turns it there that’s beveled gears now we’re going to move on to um shaft junctions now how a shaft junction works is there is two configurations of it you can either have If we just click on with our angular transducers you can see here there are two inputs which are from these two dc engines here and one output which is feeding here so we just turn on these uh two dc engines you can see it should be generating two kilowatts of power we Have two engines going through here and it’s kind of converging the power here or both going down there so that’s how those and to make a shaft junction very similar recipe to the um to the uh what do you call it i’ve completely forgotten the beveled gears that’s it had a mine blank There let’s turn that off again it’s base panels more gears more shaft units and more steel ingots to make one of those and that’s as i said is two motors coming in sort of converged apart and you can set it up the other way so you see here we set up two inputs One output we just shift click hold down shift press click it change around to two outputs and one input so you can change you can change the way that configure now i did try this before with two outputs uh so it was basically half the power coming out and it didn’t Seem to work so this is a work in progress mod i’m guessing that’s just a slight glitch we have or we’ll click like glitch will encounter you see there that’s generating two kilowatts now there are a lot of cool things you can make in this mod and i’ll just Quickly uh going to create and these are all the sort of things you can make i mean there’s a lot a lot of things you can do like some very cool awesome machines and i’m going to pull up the handbook you can see what i like was this handbook it’s very Useful if you want to start playing around with it once you’ve learned a few things basically sort of work out let’s just go to um machines for example we have bedrock breakers fermenter grinder and a lot of the things i don’t know what they do except we played around with them i’ve Just kind of i said just start with this mod and it does look very cool from there the onset so let’s move on to something else let’s look at a shaft cross now what shaft cross is it’s effectively like a crossroads so as the way it’s set up here if we Just click on with our angular transducer you can see we have two inputs and two outputs so this input here would turn this one on these start turning and the power will go or the the force where the power that we’re generating for example goes through and Through this block but not out to these ones and through through there into there so you can see that it’s coming it coming out there again we turn this one on coming through there through this block here and out that way through the shaft uh to the shaft because we just turned That one off the power still coming there but not there anymore turn this one off turn that one on the power comes there that’s a basic way of if you have two machines that need both knee power but you don’t want to you’ve got separate power source coming in we need to cross Over the power that’s we need to use there and now let’s continue let’s look at um what else can we look at now i think i think i’ve covered most things i want to look at um now the next thing we’re going to look At is uh the clutch now what a clutch is much similar to if you uh drive a manual transmission car a clutch basic is it effectively like a a gate uh because we just turn on this in this motor here you’ll see these are turning but the clutch isn’t engaged so No power is coming here so we just um enable the clutch you’ll see the power slot is going through and it’s coming through there and spinning the flywheel which we’ll get to in a second we’ll just turn that clutch off and the power stopped now to make a clutch again Is a bit more simple than the other things it’s more a shaft unit a mount which again the mount is made of steel and redstone that makes a clutch so that’s that um so far we’ve covered the basic principles of the engines the blast furnace the beveled gears the shaft junction The shaft cross and the clutch next thing we look at is the flywheel now flywheel much like on a bike um is something that once the power once the force has stopped being applied to it will continue to will continue to sort of rotate because it’s kind of got Like a but it’s a fly but that’s how it works it continues to spin what’s basically the power is fluctuating it can um if let’s say for example if power source isn’t consistent and you want to have a relatively consistent output you put you put a flywheel on there it will kind of Mean it for let’s just show example if we enable the clutch that starts spinning so that’ll start spinning up there we now take the clutch off so it should lose its power but it’s still spinning and then we’ll let it put the clutch back on and it kind of keeps the power More constant so it means if your power source is dropped you’re not going to lose power instantly you’re going to gradually it’s going to gradually decline so let’s just turn that off so keep the noise down and make a flywheel as i said well something i’ve got to Mention is there are different tiers of flywheel flywheels that uh obviously have different properties uh so the wooden stone iron and gold again made with mounts and a wooden flywheel core very simple oak steel again and the stone one is stone and steel iron i’m guessing it’s iron and uh Hydroseal you guess right and gold surprisingly is gold so that’s the air fly wheels and where last thing we look at is something that’s you’re probably going to use a quite a lot these are gearboxes now gearbox is basically a way well we’ll just read up on a gearbox for Example if we just go into the table of contents we’re going to go to basic items not power supplies i think we’re going to cover power supply and power generation in the next part of this mod it’s power transfer so we’ll cover the shaft gearbox how gearbox works it’s basically used Much like in a car it’s used to change the ratio of torque to speed while keeping the power constant and as i said they come in different ratios um another thing which they need is uh they need lubricating um for their work otherwise they will damage themselves so if we just um Come over here for this is a little example if we if i turned on this one here so the power comes out and you should see i don’t think this one is lubricated or maybe it is i see that it’s not lubricated you see there’s like the sparks flying off that Means actually damaging itself and the power output will start dropping because it’s not properly it’s not functioning properly and you’ll see it’s damaging itself now gearboxes gearboxes also have two different modes so we just um put that back to how it should be if you um just click on the if you shift Click on it it changes the mode so we just open up so it’s set to torque mode there we shift click on this with a screwdriver there now we uh click again and set the speed so depending what you need to change you can use it to either speed or Talk mode which if we just flick all of these on you’ll see the different outputs because these these are all set to different configurations so we look at this one here that’s a times 16 times eight times four and times two and now they’ll have different power outputs so Different torque outputs so 15 31 56 but also the speed is it’s basically changing the amount of speed you’re getting and see these ones are i think i put some lubricant lubricate lubrication in these ones they are functioning properly but this last this first one is absolutely damaged itself it doesn’t have lubrication Now we’ll i’ll go more into that and how you get that and how you sort of auto automate it coming into here later um these are the different types of again with most things you have the tiers of the wooden two to one four to one eight To one and sixteen to one and they’re in stone steel diamond and bedrock ones all the variants of those and um this is the lubricant um so if we just click on here and we click on the gearbox oh click on it there we go and drop some lubrication lubricant in There now if we just take that out and turn this machine on we shouldn’t see the sparks but obviously one bucket of lubricant isn’t gonna last very long you see there that’s functioning properly so that’s that um i think that’s everything i want to Cover uh oh one thing i want to show you something cool that i was playing around before is um if you look here this little block here is a projector uh just turn this on now how this works is if you what you can use is um cc Yeah use a cctv camera i don’t know if this has been implemented yet but obviously if i would put down a camera um let’s put it i think you can mount them upside down and if you click on this for the wrench you can change the orientation there’s Not a wrench to the screwdriver see there now it’s upside down and obviously that will change the angle of it so you can see position cc fact ct ct cc tv camera and then see the output of it there so it looks pretty cool um i’m definitely going to uh play around With this model a lot more this is obviously very basics um this is more bits of power trans transferring power and the concept of how the power works in this game um but the other things i want to look at if we just pull up the handbook for a second Um so we’ve basically covered transmission mainly in this episode next next time we’ll probably look at power generation so we just use the dc engine but effectively if you if you played sort of tech it feed to be something like that it’s based like your redstone engine it doesn’t require fuel Just requires a redstone signal the basic engine they don’t generate much power many of your steam engines are your second tier which generate a bit more power so i’ve said 16 kilowatts this one hundred one kilowatt and then you’ve got after that you have your gasoline engines the season these these are 65 Kilowatts of power but they gasoline engine so it runs on ethanol so it’s obviously to get a source of ethanol after that with an ac engine alternating current engine generates even more power a performance engine you see the tiers go up quite a lot a gas turbine most Powerful interval the gas turbine is a monster outbreak park outside of an engine of a commercial jet island a jet airliner this generates 67 megawatts so that is a lot of power so i think that’s what we’ll cover in how that all works next episode we’ll look at the um The i’ll see the example covered is the worm gears worm gears are basically a cheap ways of creating a 16 to 1 um gearbox but it’s you lose a bit of you basically it’s not it’s not as efficient as a proper gearbox when you lose some of the power in the Transmission but a great way to try to sort of step something from 16 from 1 to 16. um ctv i don’t know what this actually is um continual variable transmission is essentially a dynamic gearbox okay so it’s basically like a configurable one so you basically set the set the ratios yourself an industrial Coil what’s it called stores energy in a large spring that could be unwound on command that’s a basic way of storing energy and then another thing we’ll look at is sort of processing of things like there’s ways of like extracting or and processing that or to do certain things Like obviously the first machine that we’ve looked at is the glass furnace which obviously just makes makes it makes the basic materials you know you can process that and make a lot more cool things um so we first just looked at those as i said we’ll look at the Engines and then machines next episode and there’s all loads of cool stuff you can do uh so play around with these which ones actually work um i’ll presumably just find out when i get around to it like what’s this music box force field blast films we’ve got that sonic weapon There’s a lot of cool stuff in this mod um i will leave a link in the description to the minecraft forms where you can download this mod uh definitely check it out because it’s pretty cool uh so yeah next episode we’ll play around
