Mods there is no alterations to the vanilla minecraft experience it’s the exact same as opening up a single player world and then there is survival multiplayer that has some additions things like slash set home for example or slash warp and even kits and things like that that is a separate kind of survival

Multiplayer this video is going to set you up to have either you can either keep it default and have just a vanilla experience or you can easily add plugins to your server like essentials x that will add in things like slash home slash spawn and so much more nonetheless let’s

Go ahead and jump right on into it now we’re gonna be using a paper server to do this paper is the most efficient version of minecraft server software and honestly it’s amazing if you don’t add any plugins it’s exactly like a vanilla experience and if you want to add in

Plugins you can do so now one thing i will say is that you can see this is a long video this is going to take a while to set up and the easiest way and simplest way to start a minecraft server is actually with apex minecraft hosting

Now this is actually our in-depth guide on specifically a paper server we’re going to be going over most of this in this video but if you want to go at your own pace you can do so using this tutorial now let’s go and click the yellow download paper button to go to

The official paper download page now this will work way into the future so if 1.30 is out and you’re watching this video it’ll probably still work and if it won’t guess what this tutorial back here will be updated but nevertheless once you’re here you want to make sure

You’re downloading the paper version you want in our case it’s going to be 1.18.2 and then you want to download the one at the very very top it doesn’t matter what the version number is over here on the left as long as it’s the one closer to

The top meaning he’s going to have the most fixes when you click on that download button in the bottom left paper will start downloading on google chrome you may need to keep or save the file depending on your browser on mozilla firefox you’re going to need to save it

In the server screen on google chrome you’re going to need to save it in the bottom left by clicking keep now from there we can minimize our browser and we want to go ahead and create a basically new folder on our desktop so we’re going to right click create a new folder you

Can tell us whatever you want but i’m going to title it play.breakdowncraft.com that’s because that’s our own smp server if you want to play on a survival multiplayer server you don’t have to host your own come check out breakdown craft it’s super awesome and honestly you’ll love it nevertheless we’ve got

This folder here let’s go ahead and open it up now we want to do is drag and drop the paper file we downloaded into this folder where is that paper file or it’s going to be in your downloads folder now for me i have it linked over here on the

Left hand side but just in case that’s not there include the little windows icons in the top of my screen bottom left of your screen or bottom center of your screen on windows 11 and this does work fully on windows 11. type in downloads when you click on that little

Windows icon and then you have this downloads file folder open that up and there is paper drag it to your desktop and then drag it into the folder you created now we open this up the only thing should be the paper 1.18.2 dot jar now if you don’t

Have dot jar here that’s perfectly okay if you want it because it’s going to bother you because i know some people it would it would bother me what you want to do is come here to the view and make sure file name extends just check you can see we uncheck that the jar

Disappears we check on that the dot jar reappears and that’s at the view at the top of windows explorer here nevertheless though we can now right click on this paper file and rename it so right click rename and then you just want to name it paper now dot jar at the

End should stay there you shouldn’t get any errors or warnings or anything like that just rename it paper write like so now we want to go ahead and right click and create a new text document and then we want to go ahead and open up this new text document

Now in our notepad document here right so we’ve opened this up with notepad in our notepad document we want to go to the description of the video you’re watching and find these codes we have 2 gigabytes and 4 gigabytes this is how much ram you want your server to have

Now for testing two gigabytes is gonna be enough but upping it to four gigabytes later on is something i’d recommend you wanna go ahead and copy the code in the description from java to pause right like so and paste it in this new text document now once it’s in here

Basically we’re saying hey xmx and xms two gigabytes that’s what you want two gigabytes which is 2048 megabytes now i’m going to go ahead and do file save as and then we want to save this as a file named run.bat so run.bat then we want to save type as all files so

Run.bat is the file name and save type as all files click save and there you go now we have this new run.bat over here in our folder we can delete the new text document we don’t need that anymore finally we double click on run.bat the paper.jar is going to open up and we’re

Going to get some of these folders in the background here now this isn’t going to all work right it’s going to fail because as you can see here failed to load at ula.txt that’s correct so go ahead and press any key to continue it’ll close out of that

And we have this eola.txt file open this up and as long as you go to this link and agree to the minecraft eola which we do let’s change euler equals false to uli equals true true exactly like that now let’s go ahead and do file save and

With ul equals true here and that’s saved we can close out of this and double-click the run.bat file again now at this point your server is going to start up but your friends can’t join it you can join your server and we’re going to do that we’re going to test join the

Server but as it is right now your friends cannot join by the way you’ll know your server’s done starting when you see done in the console there and that’s what this is by the way this is your server console it’s also a good time to go ahead and up yourself to do

That type op and then your username right like so boom and you’ve now opted yourself and that’s going to allow you to do things like game mode creative once we get on the server speaking of let me go ahead and do a quick jump cut to open up minecraft and we’ll join this

Server again right now you’re the only person that can join your server but it’s worth testing so here we go minecraft is now open we can click on multiplayer and then we want to click direct connection once we click on direct connection we want to type in

This local host it’s already there for me but just local post right like so and then click join server it’s then going to as you can see on the left join you right on into your server again you’re the only person that can join the server

This way but it is worth trying at this point because if you can’t join your server like this you obviously need to fix issues and usually if you can’t join your server like this using localhost it’s going to be an issue with you might have a vpn or it’s windows defender and

There is a link in the description down below on how to fix windows defender for your server there could also be a reason why your friends can’t join later on so it’s worth checking out if you have any issues joining nonetheless we’re on our server it is working we can do things

Like slash game mode creative because we’re opt right so if you up yourself you’d be able to do things like that be able to break blocks and pick blocks and do all that stuff that you can do with creative right so awesome stuff there however what if you want your friends to

Join well that’s where we get to port forwarding and things like that so i’m gonna close out of minecraft and i’m going to stop the server to properly stop your server always come into the console down here and type stop right like so and then hit enter and it’s

Going to stop the server properly if you just click the x it can cause issues so make sure you do that every time and then press any key to continue now let’s go ahead close out of our minecraft server folder there and we want to port forward first things first we need to

Get some data some ips from your computer to do that you want to go up to the top left or bottom of your screen that little windows icon and then you want to type in cmd right like so you have this command prompt open that up

And then in the command prompt what you want to do is type ipcon fig ipconfig exactly like that and hit enter and then get a bunch of data here but what we need is two specific numbers so we’re going to open up trusty a notepad and in

Notepad what we’re going to do is type our ipv4 address and default gateway so ipv4 and we can find that right here there’s our ipv4 mine is 192.168.1.16 yours will most likely be completely different and that is perfectly okay next up we need our default gateway

That’s going to be on the very bottom here however it is worth noting that if you have two default gateways basically one on the first line and one on the second line you want to go with the one that’s just numbers one may look like

This fe 80 and all this other stuff it might not say fe 80 at the beginning but it’s gonna have numbers and letters you don’t want that one you want the one that’s just numbers and it’s usually on the second line if that’s the case for

Me i don’t have that i just have one and it’s just numbers 192.168.1.1 that may be the same for you it may not now that we have our ipv4 address and default gateway though we can close out a command prompt now we want to go ahead and open up here

Our browser and from there we want to open up a brand new tab in this new tab we’re going to take our default gateway so in my case 192.168.1.1 we want to copy that and we want to paste it right up here at the top where you would normally type in youtube.com

The breakdown for example hit enter and it’s going to open up some sort of login box now mine just kind of pops in from the top it is quite obnoxious for you it might look a bit better it might have like a gui sort of layout but there’ll be some sort of

Login box here and in this login box what you want to enter is your router’s username and password if you don’t know that well it’s going to be found in the description down below we have this depth guide how to find your router’s username and password and it goes

Through everything method one start there and move all the way through method five most people find it by method four if not method three by the way so go through those and then finally come back here and you will be able to log in which i’m gonna do really fast so

Here we are logged into my router now every router from this point is going to be different because of that we have a how to port forward for any router guide here this right up here goes through all the top routers netgear linksys verizon att it doesn’t matter what

Router you have this is going to work and even if your specific router isn’t mentioned guess what watch that video because most router companies just resource software right they’re all using some sort of like a cisco software they’re using something like that so in that case go here watch this video see

How the other routers have it and then once you’re in your router you’re gonna be like oh this is like this router a link system and that gear it’s gonna be like one of those even if it’s not that exact model so nevertheless once we’re here we’re logged into our router it’s

Going to look something like this now for me it’s in advanced and then it is in advanced again and then it is in port forwarding slash port triggering and that’s overall what we’re looking for here port forwarding slash port triggering for some of you it may be in

Security it may be in apps and gaming it might be a forwarding nat forwarding it might be in that gaming nat gaming it could be nat forwarding slash gaming i’ve seen that before and again it could be in security it could be an advanced administration admin something like that

Usually an advanced sort of a setting tab even though in my opinion portforwarding isn’t too advanced finally once you’re here though you can have one of two things you can either have an ad service button or add port forward button basically a button to add or you’re going to have a port forward

List right there’s going to be a big list and if that’s the case of like big list of empty boxes just start with the first one we have to add a custom service though and then once you’ve done that you’re gonna have some sort of a

Name or id so right up here at the top you have service name so we’re gonna name it just minecraft because it’s a minecraft port forward for our protocol that’s going to be tcp slash udp udp tcp or both if for whatever reason you can’t select both or you don’t have just an

Option that says both in that case you want to do this twice you want to do it once your tcp and once for udp keeping everything else the same but most 99.9 of people be able to select both in some way for the port range or a port forward

Internal port external port port 1.2 doesn’t matter what it says anything involving the word port enter in 25565 so there we have external port two five five six five internal ports two five five six five right like so once you’ve got that selected last but not least

You’ll have some sort of an ip address some people will just have a list basically a drop down list of all the devices connected similar to this here but if not you will have to enter in your ipv4 address which for us was 192.168.1.16

Right like so dot 16 there it is you can also see that’s on the list here my desktop is on the list we wanted to we could just select it there but you can also do up at the top either one is going to work nonetheless that’s how you

Port forward make sure you save it make sure you apply all the things like that now for some of you you will just have that internal ip address that we had but some people will have an external ip address and an external ip address is your public ip and that is what your

Friends are actually going to join your server with so no matter what you need your public ip address and you can find it in the description down below here what’s my ip address this is our website where we just take your ip and give it

Right back to you but you can see why it’s important to keep this private your country your region your city your latitude and longitude coordinates are all available from your ip address so it is imperative that you black that stuff out in this video for example and that

Minimize our browser and we want to go ahead and start our server so open this up and double click on the run.bat file right like so then we want to come back and open up minecraft again so i’ll see you in minecraft where we can join our

Server with that public ip and we’ll be good to go so here we are in minecraft we can go ahead and select multiplayer our server has started as you can see and we can direct connect this time though we’re not going to be going to localhost we’re going to be going to

That ip address we got earlier but you can only see the end 177 because you don’t want to give this out to everybody on the internet right that’s the whole thing this is for a private server for just your friends now let’s go ahead and click join server and we’ll see on the

Left hand side we will join right on in connecting to the server now it is going to take longer than joining via localhost obviously but there you go we are joined in but we are in the server we were just in and you can see our random building is here we’ve also

Already created all of that stuff again give your friends your public ip address and they’ll be able to join and if for whatever reason you can’t join via your public ip then go ahead and join via that local host that we used earlier the only people that have to join via the

Public ip are your friends so if it doesn’t work for you because some isps don’t allow you to connect back to yourself with your public ip in that case go ahead and see if your friends can join with it if they can you’re good to go you can just use localhost but
