The Creepy Truth About Creepers

Your up and kill you instantly it’s natural to be afraid of them cuz they literally destroy everything you have and um they do it at a moment’s notice however if you’ve really played Minecraft for any amount of time you’ll realize that that isn’t true in the slightest actually it used to be true

But now it’s not you know I used to always kind of you know agree that creepers were horrifying and I was kind of afraid of them too not like actually afraid but you know like afraid that they would come up and blow me up I’m until I realized like in modern

Minecraft there’s such a joke um by the way just quick tangent side tangent I’m playing on Minecraft Alpha 1.1.0 um you don’t have to like pay attention to this game play um I was just playing Alfa anyways and I decided to record so the game play is not

Relevant to anything I’m saying so don’t worry about that uh but yeah creepers are not as terrifying as they once were and I think you know I kind of assumed that the reason for it was because I had improved and so had kind of everybody in the Minecraft you know Community

Everyone kind of got good enough at the game you know they’re not really as frightening anymore cuz in reality the only people posting you know this funny moment clips of I’m getting scared by a creeper or something only people really posting those now is like new people

People new to the game um you never really see anyone else posting clips of them getting blown up by a creeper cuz it really doesn’t happen um but in reality the reason that creepers have lost their horrifying nature is not because we have improved our skill at

The game it’s because Mojang has made creepers not a threat anymore and as you can see it’s sort of well it’s almost night time once it becomes night time I will show you exactly what I mean but the reason why they were so horrifying is a relic of the orderen Minecraft so

The first thing that made them much more horrifying is that there’s no such thing as sprinting in these versions of Minecraft sprinting came in beta 1.8 as I’m sure a lot of you know or maybe you don’t know but sprinting was introduced in beta 1.8 um so it wasn’t a thing for

An extremely long time and obviously sprinting made you easier to escape from them but creepers have a a walking speed that is almost the same as your walking speed so when you kind of get introduced to a creeper in in any situation you kind of can’t run you pretty much have

To confront it which means which obviously if you have to confront every time you see a creeper obviously the amount of times that you die is going to you know increase just naturally just statistically so that’s a thing also the way Food Works in this game um there is

No hunger bar instead if you take damage I ass show you if you take damage it goes straight to your HP and you never ever regen until you eat food so that’s why I have food like this on on me cuz uh it’s much more difficult well not

Difficult but it’s just much different so that’s another thing that makes creepers more horrifying if you get confronted by one you you got a pretty good chance of actually dying because I think it’s kind of a common thing to not have Max HP at all times like if I if my

Main food source is cooked pork I’m probably that that restores four Hearts each and with the fact that I have such limited storage space I’m probably going to want to make sure that if I eat one of my cooked pork chop one of the few

That I can car on me I’m probably going to make sure that I actually get the maximum usage out of it so if I take three hearts of damage I’m probably not going to eat a cooked pork chop so that makes me even more vulnerable to

Actually dying to a creeper cuz if they just blow me up normally they might do like six hearts of damage and I’ll survive but if I’m already damaged well then there you go but another thing that makes creepers much more difficult is in modern Minecraft when they blow up when

They’re charging up the explosion they stop moving which when I realized that it actually made me so disappointed in or Minecraft when they’re charging up their explosion they will keep moving towards you not only that but every mob in Old Minecraft strafes they don’t just walk straight head on at you when they

Get close enough to you they start strafing to the side which makes them even more difficult to close the gap and it also makes it more difficult to hit them cuz they are all of a sudden they’re not just standing still in front of you they’re moving to the side

They’re are moving Target which is obviously a harder thing to hit than a standing still Target oh and also because there’s no sprinting you can’t do that thing where you like do a Sprint and hit a creeper so that they get knocked really far back you can’t do

That if you hit a creeper once you have to immediately back up otherwise they’re going to blow you up cuz they’re still very close by to you so the fact that they can still move while they’re coming while they’re charging up the explosion they can still move towards you and they

Strafe which makes them hard to hit and the tick delay on your attacks being much higher in this fr cuz if you guys don’t know you you can swing all you want but if you don’t time it perfectly they will explode cuz the invincibility frames on um mobs and the

Swing delay on your sword is kind of awkward to uh play around so I’ll show you it’s about night time now so I’ll show you what exactly what I mean uh oh God I don’t have my spawn set cuz this is ala there is no setting spawn so I’m

A little bit afraid if I die that I’m going to be set so far back but I’m sure I’ll be fine light up that tree I guess so yeah not so yeah like I said they you know they move towards you they strafe and you can’t run away really I mean you

Kind of can but it’s not as easy and it’s not always successful and also if they drop down on you like I’m pretty sure even in modern Minecraft that’s like the only way a creeper will kill you is if they drop down on you or if

You’re tabbed out or if you’re like just generally incompetent I guess that’s kind of also the same idea with the nether it’s not scary anymore in modern Minecraft it’s people just assume it’s scary just because you know oh it’s been scary forever so of course it’s still scary but the nether really isn’t

There’s not as many holes to fall into the lava cuz you know Mojang has really improved the world’s generation and also Ghasts aren’t really a threat anymore they spawn so commonly in these old versions uh it’s actually kind of ridiculous how often they spawn but yeah the nether is so dangerous in Old

Minecraft in new Minecraft like if by the time you go in you already have iron armor or or or diamond and it’s enchanted with protection which gives you even more like protection so it’s just like you’re not even going to die to anything look look at how fast they

Hit you look how fast mobs will hit you in O OG Minecraft they they do not mess around so look how he’s strafing look how he’s strafing uh that caused infighting okay let me let me make my Escape as they as they fight yeah I feel like old

Minecraft was just so much more scary not only cuz like the ambience not exist and also the lighting being bad and the graphics being bad but also just game actually was difficult back then and in order for it to be scary there has to actually be you know the threat of dying

In modern Minecraft with netherite equipment and with like the elytra and like you know potions you have to actually be such an NPC to die in Minecraft and with totems of undying like what kind of a at Mojang implemented totems of undying honestly the fact that you could the the the fear

Of dying makes living worthwhile you know what I mean like why should I ever be cautious if there’s going to be no consequences to not being cautious you know like consequences like yeah they suck it sucks dying and losing everything but you know what sucks more playing a game that’s completely

Unfulfilling and feels like it has no meaning yeah look at how he’s still moving as he’s charging up his explosion scary man that’s scary yeah that that’s kind of one of the things I hate about new Minecraft I I said this a little bit I touched on

This actually quite a bit in my other video if nothing has if if something isn’t difficult to achieve then it’s worthless okay you you know how Everybody Wants To Be A Millionaire well nobody would want to be a millionaire if everybody had a million bucks cuz it dilutes the value exclusivity and

Difficulty add value right if you can achieve something great in a version of Minecraft where it’s incredibly difficult to do something even easy then you’re worth infinitely more than somebody who can do something great in a version of Minecraft where everything is easy like I I I I honestly don’t give a

if you can kill a million creepers and not take any damage once if it’s in Minecraft 1.20 with the elytra with potions with netherite with you know the one shot axes with sharpness five ax come on give me a break and that’s not me trying to High Road either I’m not

Trying to say like oh if you if you don’t you know you suck if you don’t play Old Minecraft no that’s not what I’m trying to say at all it’s kind of just my opinion I think creepers and the game in general used to be more terrifying back in this version of

Minecraft and then gener just generally before 1.0 and I think when the game became easier and more streamlined is when the game kind of lost it’s um it’s accomplishing feeling I think sprinting is the perfect epitome of it like it just I don’t know the game modern Minecraft is about speed and

Optimization which I don’t like I think optimizing things like you can’t optimize creativity you know the saying you can’t rush art that’s literally true in my opinion Minecraft is a creativity game and when everything about modern Minecraft has to do with optimizing farms and you know Iron Farms scor Farms

You know food Farms when everything becomes about optimization you know it kind of just becomes a NeverEnding grind to a achieving perfect optimization where you could have any resource at the touch of your fingertips and then once you actually achieve that you don’t even do anything creative because there’s

Nothing to do beyond that point in modern Minecraft you know with all of the blocks and everything that exists you know I don’t oop I don’t feel you know inspired to use any of the blocks that exist because it just it it’s too easy I feel like but anyways I’m kind of
