Way back in the early days of my youtube channel one of the first properly successful videos i ever had was when i showed that you could create a hidden staircase just by rotating some stairs inside a wall and as you can see right here this thing is incredibly simple i Mean all we’ve got is some sticky pistons some stairs and then a redstone line that connects up those sticky pistons and it works perfectly i mean check out how cool that looks it looks like something out of harry potter but simple isn’t going to be used too much more Throughout today’s episode because i’ve been doing a little bit of thinking and i kind of thought to myself how cool it would be if we could recreate that staircase exactly the same as before using roughly the same game mechanics but instead of just being one stair Popping out we would have two sets of stairs popping out just like this and i’ve been doing some preliminary wiring and just trying to work out how it would function and i think it could be possible you see pushing them out is actually quite simple all we have to do is power these Pistons here then power this and then power this and that will shoot out all of those blocks and as you can see we have got ourselves a two wide staircase that’s that’s quite nice the issue comes from well everything else so we need to retract that then we need to retract This and then we need to retract those blocks retract these out the way then we need to do a full triple piston extension to grab those blocks then we need to retract that retract that then we need to do i think something like this and then we need to power this power that Retract no no no keep that extended retract this retract that then we need to power these and then retract those and then re-extend these pistons yeah uh as you can see this is not easy but it’s not impossible and that’s the most important thing so i’ve grabbed my redstone resources and We’re going to get things started um i don’t even know where to begin to be quite frankly honest with you apparently in the most ugly way possible i mean this seriously is one of the worst looking starts to a redstone circuit i think i’ve ever created but it should hopefully function So if we take a look right here so we should get a push up from the bottom and then it will double extend so that’s as if it’s pushed out all of the stairs and then if we activate the retraction we should get a full double piston Retraction and then that but that wasn’t actually quite long enough on the pulse i wonder if we just removed one one tick from that repeater there so if we go up like this yeah just a tiny bit too fast okay we just need to extend out the pulse and That should hopefully do it but it is going to make it slower so we’ll have to make a few adjustments here because yeah that’s painful right there we go much much better so there is the extension and there is the first stair attraction and that just makes way for Us to do a triple extension and then a triple retraction and then are we done no way are we done no surely not yes we are i feel like this is much simpler than i thought it was so naturally i thought i’d make my life a little bit harder so I’ve created a slightly more compacted system and i’ve just started work on the next part of the circuitry which of course is the triple piston extender and i’m going to try my best to keep everything sitting within this footprint right here which i think is entirely Possible we should be able to do it just have to be a little bit smarter with my wiring no way has this just done what i think it’s just done so if i was to place in that piston there and then i guess would have one stair there and one Stair would be here so if we flick this lever that should do the full extension that’s all good so that all pushes it out there is our two wide staircase but if we do the retraction wow that was lucky okay so then so then all we have to do is retract This piston and then retract this piston and that will be everything completed for this thing i feel like we might even be able to go smaller than this you know hmm i seem to be making a bit of a meal of it though i mean it’s it’s definitely messy at This point in time oh boy yeah no that’s not good according to my brain this little circle right here should mean that this entire thing will now function effectively now my brain has said a lot of things in the past that are totally incorrect but I feel like it could be on to something here if we just give this a look it’s done that just worked perfectly so there it is both of the stairs have been pushed out and then we flick the lever again and both sets of stairs get retracted Back into the wall really really nice and quickly okay i’m going to extend this thing out we’re going to make this thing bigger we’re going to take it right the way up to the top and we’ll see what it looks like with a full set am i forgetting anything here that is The question i feel like i’m not i think this should just about do it so we need repeaters going right the way down across like this and then we need the redstone lines and of course all of the stairs and that should mean that this circuit is now Fully expanded out so that we have a taller staircase that’s the reason why i did this redstone line design so here we have an absolutely beautiful if i do say so myself quartz wall and if we flick this lever right here that quartz wall transforms to have a two wide staircase Running up it i mean was that not just one of the best things you’ve ever seen i’m so proud of this thing that if we flick this lever here let’s see if the full retraction actually functions so there it goes i mean i know i say this almost every single redstone video But this might just be one of my favorite redstone contraptions ever it’s so cool to watch that is honestly one of the most satisfying things to watch i’ve ever seen i could watch that all day anyway we we’ve got some improvements to make with the circuitry we can definitely compact This circuit down a little bit further i really wanna so we can knock this edge off that should be easy we should be able to move this circuit around a little bit i’d really love to knock another one off in this dimension we’re also gonna knock Another one off down here we can move this around that’s no problem at all in fact very very easily but yeah we can make some changes here i really want to try and make this as compact as possible all right that was a bit of an easy start in fact that was Probably one of the most easy modifications we could possibly make to a redstone circuit just moving this pulse extender up by a block this one’s going to be a little bit more tricky though it kind of wasn’t though because all i had to do was remove some of the Green circuitry that we had lying around down here and just move this into that space and it’s worked perfectly and also kept things very compact and now that i’m looking at it this is actually small enough to almost merit building in survival mode obviously this you’re never going to be Able to help this this is like this is a pretty serious set of redstone but this little circuit right here that’s not actually too bad well actually hang on give me a second let’s see if it actually works yes no no it’s not working guys turns out i Had actually wired up the circuit that’s meant to be running into these pistons into these pistons somehow and it was causing a bit of a mess but now it is actually working and it’s considerably smaller than it was at the start of the video which is absolutely fantastic and I’m looking and i’m trying to work out if there’s any way that i can compact it further and you know what i don’t actually know if i’d be able to do it if we’re really smart we might be able to shave off this block right here now i think we can Probably do it because all we have to do so if we just grab this repeater and move that back a little bit and then just shift all of this across so that will go like that that will go here and then the redstone will come out like that That’s that done the only thing that is getting in the way is this circuit here so if we were to run a repeater out with four ticks off in this direction then run that into a block we’d need to hope yet that’s if it’s already getting tricky but still not impossible I mean if we were to run something up into here and then this pulse extender we’d have to move so that it’s here which puts it next to that redstone dot so we would have to do some some slight moving there as well but with this observer set up we actually Have something that could could be onto a winner so that runs across like that and that is all working as it did previously so then we have space now to actually turn this into that so that goes there that goes here this redstone works in exactly the same way I think it should do uh so that’s fine and then we just need to find out a way to power it which is not obvious to my head at the minute oh that’s a little bit embarrassing that seems like it would do the trick that seems like it would do the trick So you’ve got three pistons there this is gonna be a real big cleanup operation if everything goes wrong okay oh that was so close what are we missing ah but regardless of all that let’s just take a look and see if it actually functions here it goes so there is the push out And then there is the full retraction this thing is functioning perfectly it’s looking absolutely fantastic and if we take a look around the back you can see that the redstone circuitry is pretty tiny actually we’re five blocks across i think we’re so that is five blocks in total running up to the Circuitry it’s even less actually it’s only four blocks in total poking out from all of the redstone lines and it’s not exactly particularly tall either i mean this is this is a compact little circuit i’m chuffed abyss with this thing so there we go i hope that you enjoyed this little redstone video If you did please drop that like button and if you really loved it then make sure to subscribe but thanks for watching guys this has been mumbo and i’m out i’ll see you later oh and i mean i’m sure you’ve already seen it but the greens cat mini documentary is up on the Filming channel and i’m sure you’ll enjoy it You Video Information
