It’s crazy to think that we’re episode six already and i’m not gonna lie this might be my favorite one yet a mesa badlands biome of some sort has been a very well suggested topic and rightfully so it’s very unique even in minecraft and has some fantastic colors Some colors that i really want to bring to my lego layout along with those awesome colors come some really unique mobs and critters as well that i’m really excited to bring into this layout but that’s enough intro let’s start building this thing I breezed over it last time so just for a quick refresher the modules that i make are based off of 8×8 block sections in the game which translate to 16 by 16 lego studded sections and today i’m combining two of them for this module the base of this is made up of primarily Red sand which will be my favorite color dark orange an absolutely necessary inclusion in this biome is a mine shaft of course and i’m going to need some rails now rails are going to be pretty difficult to fit within that two stud gap historically lego has always utilized four stud wide Rails and four stud wide minecarts but i think we can do better than that and narrow it down just a little bit it’s going to be tricky though the main piece that’ll make these rails possible is this modified 2×8 plate it’s just a little bit taller so we’ll get some Three-dimensionality out of this build as well which is super great the most difficult part about this build is that they’re gonna be bricks facing three different directions none of which is up the rails themselves are simply going to be made out of alternating one by two Plates one being dark tan for the wood the other being dark orange for the red sand this sub-assembly will simply slide in between those rails and even though it’s not going to be connected by any studs it’s not going to go anywhere very easily i love how this looks the biggest Downside however is is that we are limited to these eight stud slash four block sections and i still have to figure out how to do a corner of all the structures that we’ve done i do think the mine shaft looks the smallest when scaled next to a minifigure however i don’t think it’s The end of the world the minifigures are just a little taller than two blocks since we have a railway now i figure we should make a mine cart as well this is something i’ll also want to scale down from lego’s official version which ends up being four by four studs we’re gonna Try to fit it down to two by three with maybe just a few plates hanging over the edge i’m using a variety of snot bricks here the headlight brick and the 1×1 with adjacent studs on the two sides to make this possible it’s a flimsy build don’t Get me wrong but we’re definitely going for looks over anything else in this series this minecart will be just big enough to fit a player or in this case i intend to put a block in it a block of tnt haven’t got to use one yet so this is the perfect place You’ll notice here that i use dark brown for brown stained clay but there’s a lot of other stained clays that we need to find matches for we do have a lot of height to get up to that desert well so this is gonna be a tall module with lots Of layers i think one of the most interesting clay colors to try and match is going to be light gray stained clay and i think sand red is the way to go now the interesting thing about sand red is that it was discontinued in 2003 after a very short life span and there Was only 39 pieces actually produced in that color yeah this is gonna be hard while there certainly are useful sand red parts available on bricklink they go for about a dollar a piece making it not really a viable option for this build i’m gonna have to work with what i have To make this layer of light gray stained clay and surprisingly i was able to pull it off with the parts i had some very interesting usages in there but hey whatever works there is another special color that i have to pull off though and that is white stained clay it’s got a yellow Pinkish tone in the game it’s gonna be utilizing lego’s light flesh color which was originally introduced in licensed themed sets for minifigures like luke skywalker and harry potter however lego is now molding regular bricks in the color as well which is great for things like this it’s a really Interesting color i do really like both of these colors they’re really unique and mirror what you see in the game pretty well in my opinion i’m sure if you don’t have a lot of sand red on you there are other worthy substitutes for this color that will still look great in The mesa biome perhaps regular medium dark flash will work just as well that leaves just two more clay colors that you can encounter in the badlands biome yellow stained clay and red stained clay these will be a lot more straightforward for yellow i’ll be doing flame yellowish orange the color is just A bit more golden than regular yellow and for red we’ll just be using regular bright red i’m not quite done with those peaks yet but i want to take a quick break for myself to tile the rest of the sand off it is probably the most satisfying part Of building these just layering down those tiles and watching this thing really become minecraft smooth and blocky you gotta love it i’ve got just enough green grill tiles left for one cactus i’m still very happy with this design and i really need to pick up more of those tiles We’ll place down our dead bushes as well and now all that’s left to do is finish this i want this to be the tallest module yet i think it makes sense some of those badlands spires are very impressive in the game and i want to get These as tall as we possibly can i’ll throw in another layer of brown stained clay you’ll notice that i’m running low on dark brown bricks and having again to get a little creative with my parts usage employing slopes facing inward you shouldn’t notice anything from the outside though I’ve been wanting to find a home for the wandering trader and islamists for quite some time and i do think the badlands is just the right place he fits the vibe very well these were introduced in a set not too long ago you can still find it On store shelves and in fact here in the us at walmart it’s 16 bucks quite a good deal for these really unique characters that probably won’t be produced again another mob that i need to add here is the bat i’d like to have him hanging upside down outside the mine shaft so We’re just going to make a quick modification to one of my blocks right in the entrance here to get an upside down brick for him to hang from with the bats you can fold in their wings to make them wrap around their body and he’s all snuggled up for the Night day a little rarer figure is the husk he only came with the creeper mindset he’s not the most interesting figure but i do appreciate rare figures no matter what just like that we have created our tallest module yet and it pretty seamlessly matches up to the already Very high desert well module with the lush caves underneath it even the back looks alright of this whole thing and there’s the potential to expand the mine shaft in the future with these mobs and the colorful bricks this might just be one of my favorite modules yet i love How it fits in with the rest of this world i know i’ve promised a lot of people in the comments that the nether will be episode 7 however with the imminent release of the wild update i think i’m gonna swap that spot out for the mangrove swamp i promise it’ll be Just as good maybe even better than another module i had planned and hopefully it gets you excited about the new update too that’s all for this time if you have more suggestions drop them down below you better believe i’m reading each and every one thanks for watching i’ll see you in the next Episode You Video Information
