Subscribers and still does I don’t know why I say had he just doesn’t upload anymore right um and they came from around this time the Mr Willi ERA this was when he started his channel so we’re going to bring him into the call oh get him in hello a real OG Minecrafter in

The call I was just watching the stream I can’t believe there’s a whole era named after me what yeah dude it’s the Mr willo era I’m calling this the Mr willo era because will is a great case study for for this he gained half a million subscribers basically just from Minecraft videos and

The rise and fall uh are a great example of Minecraft youtubers in general at that time so at the start when you were like I don’t even believe Minecraft ever fell off that’s what I’m saying um will is the proof oh no why would you do that

Could add like superheroes in there you could add girlfriends in there you could add like this literally think of something and you could add it to Minecraft through a mod one of my most popular series so this is you know year or two into to me becoming a YouTuber I

Did a series where I used Minecraft as the platform as the blank canvas to then tell a story but I would use popular Minecrafters like DanTDM like Stampy skyers Minecraft and have them in a perilous situation within the world and me my character I have to go and save

Them some of Will’s like earliest videos I think were mod showcases which a bunch of YouTubers would do at the time it would just be like here is what the show the mod looks like and here’s how you get into it in the same way that you’d like get an unboxing

Best friend had signed him up like as an exclusive animator so I had to get other people um to quickly do the animation and then I think it was a bit naivity for me being a bit young and stuff like I wasn’t really happy with the animation

But I was like let’s just get it out there anyway God yeah if you cut to like the final fight at the end the nether King’s here I can’t wait for this amazing fight that we’re about to see holy [ __ ] right the build Up they’re about to fight weird Angle surely surely they’re going to fight soon are they kissing surely they fight oh they did a little fight yeah we kiss this is crazy you paid money for this I don’t want to [ __ ] talk too much on them because they did another animation for me that was actually

A few real life events gu is Minecraft he was basically a character of himself but in the game mhm uh he would play multiplayer games with his friends uh and they made like a a Minecraft super team yeah like the siden but Minecraft team crafted and there are a bunch of

Minecraft youtubers who were in there that were huge in themselves like I’m talking each member was like 2 3 4 5 million subscribers each okay DanTDM DanTDM he was you know your you’re familyfriendly Minecraft YouTuber who was all about Good Vibes having a good time making sure everyone was all right

He had his characters that he would regularly speak to in the world uh so he kind of created his own DanTDM Universe within Minecraft that then people absolutely adored which will be it was very common with Minecraft Let’s Plays is having like either NPCs or like real

People like I was obviously a real person in in will series um having like other characters being involved um and and like inside jokes why do I feel like DanTDM looked like he shoed exclusively at Hot Topic did he go through an era oh

Yeah like a lip ring and [ __ ] he was Hot Topic for sure okay got it cuz I’m looking at this guy and he looks so normal an event and he was considering his success he was just the most normal person you could ever imagine really like just a cool dude yeah also normal

Person that I think you’ve talked about meeting uh Stampy Cat yes very his videos he was probably even more child friendly like he’d use a super soft voice he would everything was about having a lovely time in Minecraft and he had arguably one of the most famous Minecraft series ever called his lovely

Would pick their goat and then they watch that person’s videos right so for some people will was their goat but he wasn’t a majority of people’s goat so he would subsequently get less and less views um and that trickle down really came to a close when fortnite was

Released and you’ll find a lot of YouTubers who were having dwindling views in Minecraft then switched over to fortnite like uh lacklin is a huge was a huge Minecraft Creator and switched to fortnite and is now like one of the biggest fortnite creators ever what a jump what a pivot however just before

Fortnite was released in 201526 uh there is a slight there’s a 2.5 of an era that we’re going to cover okay um which is the nons era we always are talking about I sorry my out of YouTube most bit of Minecraft sorry most bit of YouTube

Basically Minecraft had its first like dwindle because this goes outside of the YouTube Community now right this isn’t just Minecraft fans that are hearing about this this is like normous people who care about pop culture or they’re like listening to Vice and all of a sudden they talk about it at lunch you

Know with a friend and oh doesn’t your kid watch Minecraft yeah yeah all they know is this exactly yep yep popular game that kids play now has people in it right like you just don’t want your kids to play it so there was there was a lot

Of cases basically is what I’m trying to say of bad things giving a bad rep to Minecraft YouTube as a whole and then fortnite came out so it was like a [ __ ] two big hitters a right hook and a [ __ ] punch to the gut you know mhm

Um so Minecraft died for about 2 years all until the Renaissance of Minecraft in 2019 who brought it back your favorite YouTuber ever was the person that brought it back oh PewDiePie PewDiePie broke back Minecraft okay now if I’ve just linked his channel because PewDiePie is a really

Interesting case if you go to his oldest video ever okay you’ll see that it’s Minecraft it’s Minecraft yeah he played Minecraft like early early on and then never touched Minecraft again for his whole entire YouTube career really until the r he was one of the only YouTubers

At the time was huge for playing like Let’s Plays of games and decided not to do Minecraft right and it’s still crazy he became the biggest YouTuber it’s like man what if so because he never played Minecraft it allowed for him to actually experience Minecraft for the first time

Which is something that no YouTuber was able to do since like 2012 because everyone played it yeah just like the clip we watched from Toby Games playing Minecraft and dying of starvation and not knowing why yeah uh now you get to see the most subscri to YouTuber in the

World doe and you have context cuz you’ve played it and you’ve watched other people do it I think like the real dream is that you get to be like a backseater or at least a back knower right like holy [ __ ] he’s going to starve he doesn’t actually know how to

Do it well I know how to do this thing are you telling me that PewDiePie is the guy who built a bridge from old Minecraft to new Minecraft built a bridge really SS and crossed it baby gaming week it’s so funny watching YouTubers who were originally Gamers and

Then went to like more iety or like YouTube successful content try and create ways to like get gaming back cuz they just love gaming well his is actually the opposite he was wanting to not play games and his fans were like please we want the oldd oh he’s trying

To shove all the gaming in one week and then he can go back to doing whatever he wants yeah yeah but it got so popular and he actually enjoyed Minecraft that it stayed and this was a huge series bro Land good one here we go guys oh my God

After all the yeah is that a fing horse that’s a freaking horse oh my God there’s horses in Minecraft so you can see this is him literally experiencing this for the first time so he he is like it is literally how every single Minecraft let’s play that we’ve seen starts off um

So funny I’ve seen this everywhere all over PewDiePie’s sear at it release the seed do/ seed get PewDiePie to release his seed Jesus Christ sounding extremely inappropriate and unfit for Minecraft a thought popped into my head us to get PewDiePie’s world seed without him giving it to us first of all wait this

Is actually a sick intro for a video I got to say in terms of like the hook hook being set it’s like wait this is kind of cool I I feel like we have to say now that obviously dream has had a lot of controversy throughout the years
