If you would have told me after Minecon live 2019 that only seven weeks into 2020 we would be testing a significant amount of the promised features for minecraft 1.16 I would have probably told you that you were being a bit too optimistic but here we are Minecraft 1.16 snapshot 20 W 0-7 a if you missed our last video about 20 W 0 6a I’ll have that one linked above because it is important within that snapshot we got the nether terrain update itself which included three new biomes a new or mineral the works but One thing we didn’t see much of at that point were the new promised mobs at least functionally but now 20 W 0-7 a brings new life to the nether in the form of Hoglund and pig lands both of which are far more complex than I would have initially imagined so that along With all of the other major changes to come within the snapshot are up next so without any further ado let’s go ahead and let’s just get right into it What has been one of the nethers biggest problems throughout the years you could argue that there was always a lot of them for starters it was way too boring for way too long there was little to do outside from gathering supplies to take back to the overworld it lacked the Variety that it clearly had the potential for to be a livable environment and it lacked truly unique mobs as well but today is the day that all of that changes let me introduce you to minecraft 1.16 s newest mobs the hog Len and the pig Len if mod variety Within the nether is what you’ve been yearning for well now you’ve got it mostly first up the Hoglund Minecrafts first and only breathable hostile mob originating within the crimson forest biome these naturally hostile mobs will attack you as soon as they see you if they hit you they deal as little as one Heart of damage on easy mode or as much as six hearts of damage on hard mode so be careful their attack will knock you up into the air very much like an iron golem and the knock back that they receive when they’re hit is far less than most other mobs within Minecraft so If you’re battling against hog lands with melee weapons just be careful however if you know what you’re doing and know how to approach the hog lens you can quell their aggressive behavior with a pretty simple technique if you plant warped fungi on the ground nearby them and then remain within six blocks Of the Warped fungi itself the hog illan will keep away as they really don’t like warped fungi however oddly enough while they definitely don’t like warped fungi one thing they can’t get enough of is crimson fungi which leads me into how the hog winds are bred short and simple Crimson fungi is used in order to breed the new Hoglund mob now why might you want to breed the Hoglund well hog lines are an excellent source of food within the nether when a Hoglund is killed it’ll drop between two to four raw pork chop or Cooked if they die while they’re on fire and zero to two leather as well which means that it’s now easier than ever before to exist entirely within the nether itself while I’m not the biggest fan of mob farms being almost a requirement within Minecraft to which I’ll have a video all about that linked above because Hoglund are listed as a hostile mob so long as you’re in a crimson forest they should be quite easy to find at any moment’s notice reducing the requirement to create a mob farm with them at all which is really nice After breeding a pair of hog lands with a crimson fungi you can accelerate growing the baby hog lands with crimson fungi as well while the adult Hoglund will attack you on site and won’t back down at all the baby hog lands behave a little bit differently they’ll still Attack you but if you fight back they’ll opt to flee away from you for a short period of time wow that’s a lot of information to digest all at once and we’re only halfway there or less than halfway because next up is the pig line which in my opinion is a far more Interesting mob than the already interesting hog lends meat the pig line’ another hostile mobs that looks like something straight out of CaptainSparklez us find the pieces music video okay they’re exactly the same but this mob is extraordinarily unique for Minecraft so unique in fact that I have To break down their behavior into two separate parts their aggressive behavior and their non aggressive behavior chances are if you’re not ready for them when you first encounter a pig line with an either a crimson forest or a normal nether wastes biome you won’t be perfectly prepared so expect them to be Aggressive having the capability to spawn with either a golden sword or a crossbow it’s important to keep your head on a swivel or you can just equip a single piece of gold armored while in the nether which will make the pig lens entirely passive to you once you’ve calmed the piglet down By equipping some gold you may have realized that pig ones now love gold if you mine up gold blocks while you’re near them they’ll attack you if you open up a chest while nearby them they’ll assume that you’re stealing their gold and attack you but the really interesting property of pig lines is That you have the capability to barter with them using gold ingots similar to trading with villagers if you either throw or right-click on a pig line with a gold ingot it’ll toss one of quite a few different items in return in total there are four tiers of items that you Can get from the pig lenss common uncommon rare and very rare and within each of those tiers are quite a few different items that you can get so let’s run through them the common tier to which there’s about a 64% chance that you’ll get one of these items you can Get soul sand brown and red mushrooms Flint rotten flesh Crimson fungi and nether bricks the next year on common items to which there’s about a 28% chance that you’ll receive one of these items is shrim light fire charges gravel raw pork chops leather and warped fungi and then there’s the rare items which You’ll get about 6 percent of the time consisting of glowstone dust magma cream and ender pearls and finally there’s the very rare tier of items to which you’ll get them about 2% of the time consisting of warped nigh Liem nether quartz and obsidian aside from all of that the Piglets will actively avoid being near zombie pigmen soul fire soul torches and soul fire lanterns so if you want to keep both the hog lens and pig lens a safe distance from your base then some warped fungi and soul fire is a surefire way to keep these mobs at bay or you can Just set your game-mode to peaceful because neither of them will despawn in peaceful mode they’ll just become entirely passive fascinating so that in a nutshell is everything you need to know about Minecrafts to newest mobs well they’re definitely the meat and potatoes of this update it is also Worth mentioning a few smaller changes that the snapshot brings along as well so if for whatever reason you wanted to power a beacon with nether right blocks or use nether right ingots as fuel for a beacon well now you can weird flex but ok the wither can be Summoned using soul soil as a base an Enderman can now pick up fungi roots and nily ‘m but they can no longer pick up netherrack so now for my opinions on this snapshot all in all I think this is an excellent addition to Minecraft 1.16 my only real complaint is that it’s Still incredibly boring to find ancient debris which was introduced in the last snapshot there’s all kinds of new life high up in the nether now but the most interesting block is super deep underground far away from all of that interestingness I’d still like to see a unique and challenging way to obtain Ancient debris but we’re only two snapshots into Minecraft 1.16 so I’ll give Mojang a break here if I could make a small suggestion however it would be for motioning to experiment with the idea of raising the nethers height limit to 256 blocks now given recent advancements in Minecraft rendering Engine I don’t think it’d be a far cry to provide this option for testing even if it ultimately winds up being a bad idea in the long run modding community if motioning doesn’t hook us up with that I’m certainly hoping that you will and that just about does it for me for Now what’s your favorite feature of the nether update as a whole thus far their new mobs the new environment or something else
