working so that’s a good Thing we are gonna play today we are gonna be a bunch of a bunch of teachers playing the role of eSport athletes to get that full immersive experience no pun intended since these maps were made by immersive minds so once again we were here last week and people had a great time both Playing and watching and we’re back for more yeah um so let’s let’s kind of get kind of rolling right yeah yeah so we have Eric Lightner with this and Eric did such a good job being kind of like the the the referee so to speak I don’t know What word we’re gonna use and I love your skin by the way I couldn’t help myself it’s amazing so Eric is going to guide us through this new world we should take them on a tour of the world I can I can do that I would definitely Do that this build is one of them phenomenal ones I’ve seen and it is so extensive it goes way beyond even your field of vision if you fly out sort of away from the house you’ll see just where this garden goes and it is mind blowing so there’s a house there’s a Brick wall behind a little a little house with a door and a little porch and that’s where the scoreboard is there’s trees on each side it’s funny I floated over here a little bit and I notice there’s a garbage pail can whatever you want to call it in the corner with some Mushrooms there’s all of these bushes there’s a little rock path that leads to a pond with some lilies in it and a Sun Dial birdbath type thing it looks like and and of course a garden gnome I think a bit of a missed opportunity Steven if you’re watching to decorate like to Actually like color the garden gnome with like a face and stuff like that but let’s do that as a challenge there we go that would be fun I love the the fence and the fence posts in the mailbox so beautiful this world is is absolutely stunning as almost all of the worlds That the folks at immersive Minds make so I mean we shouldn’t be surprised right I suppose but Andy to give a little context too there are a number of different experiences I believe right now the ones that have been released so far are the make and model series which Are essentially you know a timed build battle where you know there will be a theme and each team will be building as a cooperative collaborative team and judged at the end um there are other game modes coming out and I Eric might know better than me but I do remember Something about like a treasure finding one and a and a destroy the other pirate ship one right yeah there’s there some competitive head-to-head worlds that are coming that are more game focused than they are build focused even though of course it’s minecraft so building is always going to be an aspect of that Challenge very much follows the theme as Steve was saying of things like capturing pirate treasure and you know destroying the enemy’s boat things like that uh you know all within that kind of good fun of Minecraft so yeah see those two and and what I love so much is you know I’m a Huge proponent for eSports and primarily and especially when it comes to building the k12 to college pipeline we’ve been kind of sorely missing the elementary school participation in eSports and this is where this really bridges that gap so beautifully you know and in such a way that embeds you know the Scholastic side But also the the pure fun competitive side so good stuff good stuff I agree and that’s something that our district is already looking to do especially since it’s very likely we’re gonna start remotely so this is something that we can introduce quickly we can get kids competing head-to-head we’ve spoken Hopefully to you know some of our affiliates that kind of help broadcast our athletics to see if this is something they’re they’re considering to broadcast on our you know our internal sort of networks and in the area locally and two months to give ourselves I’m sorry one quick plug Mike it’s very Similar to to what we’re doing with the minecraft masters in terms of those being build challenges which I do believe start with our live events this Saturday at one o’clock here on participate twitch channel but anyway go ahead Mike yeah I was just gonna say you are confined to a build area there are materials there are tricks and I know that Steve is better at this than I am so he built a lot of The fail-safes into these worlds but there are materials that would help students escape from those build areas oh and actually there are some code block or code builder techniques that would help you escape as well as I have learned I think it would take more time to find them oh never underestimate your Students in finding game exploits sounds like a challenge yeah well it’s funny because that’s one of those things that when working with students in competition that I never penalize and I’ve actually had discussions and debates with other educators about this but if we do let’s say an engineering build competition and In team finds a loophole that doesn’t necessarily violate the rules but works outside of what we would expect there to be we can’t punish them for that we can only reward them for finding that loophole and then change our rules for next time that’s awesome if it doesn’t Say you can’t then you can’t exactly and that has been a point of debate where they you know sometimes it’s well they know what we expected of it and we came back to the petting zoo every animal had its Caped except the parents which were the only one really could have just flown right out there are 45 seconds on the clock yeah we’re gonna keep this one on time and I Know there’s only a few minutes left and you didn’t want to show them where that document was also and I know we probably won’t be able to show it today but most of these worlds including this one have the structure blocks built right in around the play area which means that These things that the students are building this area can be exported for 3d printing yes perfect
