Let me take a closer look at the sniffers designing concept we can see that it takes details from lots of different creatures its yellow mouth has a similar texture to the turtles and chickens with the sniffer also having the ability to lay eggs like those mobs As well the sniff is designed From the Mob vote videos depict having red and green fur as well as having two large extruding ears pointing towards it having a mammal-like biology a good guess as to what the sniffer might be is that it’s a monotreme species a class of Mammals which have toothless males and lay eggs an example of one of these species is the Australian duck-billed platypus another option for the sniffer’s origin comes in the form of some Strider concept art in the concept art we see two different Strider designs one is based off the tiny title grades with six Legs and the other also with six legs but with the color and shape of the Strider we have today similar to the snipper mop now perhaps a sniffer is a distant relative to The Strider and once lived in the nether a more plausible reason for this Connection may just be that the devs at Mojang use the six-legged design from the strata concept art and incorporate it into the sniffer’s design hidden under the deserts and swamps of the Overworld is a rare structure known as the fossils which some people believe to be the ancient origin of the sniffers They can spawn as two different variants skulls and spines when placed in a certain Arrangement some of these different fossil structures can take the appearance of what looks like to be a large sniffer skeleton although it’s a bit of a stretch these fossils might be a hint to the sniffer’s Ancient ancestors who went extinct being buried beneath the surface of the Overworld now although this sniffer is a land-based mob their cuboid eggs are found in loot chests of the underwater ruins what’s weird about the snake’s spawning location is that the sniffer is not an aquatic mob and doesn’t lay their Eggs underwater this tiny little detail leads me to believe that whoever put the ancient underwater ruins also kept the sniffers and domesticated them to find and farm the ancient seeds you see in the video this may be the reason as to why sniffers are not as big today as the Fossils found deep in the ground now back to the underwater ruins their stone bricks and smooth Stone formations as well as items like wheat enchanted books and many other items found in loot chests point to them once being located on the surface of the Overworld perhaps a large geological event causes Civilization to fall The Unlucky ancient Builders were lost beneath the waves becoming drowned and most of the sniffers domesticated by these ancient Builders were also wiped out except for a few eggs kept safe in the chests of the underwater rooms because the ancient Builders had bred and domesticated these Sniffers they were a little different from the species they evolved from this other species would have slowly died out becoming the fossils that we see in the game today laughs Video Information
