I’m sure you all know what minecraft parkour is and have done it at one stage or another it’s a staple of the game something you do no matter what you are playing whether it be from parkouring in your survival world doing challenging parkour and specific servers dedicated to it There are large communities with the sole goal of becoming parkour experts and learning and documenting everything there is to know about it servers which are over a decade old and videos which display the intricacies and unknown sides of parkour there is so much more to parkour than the general minecraft community knows of From turning to a precise 45 degree angle to get more speed than regular jumping to being able to jump higher than a block using glitches within the game it gets so advanced to the point where you could actually negate all fall damage this stuff can get really technical involving a decent understanding of Mathematics which is why today i’m going to tell you about some of the widely unknown minecraft parkour techniques and how they work i’m also going to tell you about a minecraft server which is renowned for having challenging parkour and over a decade of history being the third oldest server in existence So let’s get right to it when somebody asks you how high can you jump in minecraft everybody knows the answer one block something which has never been questioned for the entire 11 years minecraft has been around the one block jump height has never changed but what if i told you there was A way to jump higher than one block in vanilla minecraft well that’s what’s briefly described as a blip which is a generic name for a family of glitches that allow the player to land prematurely and this can be abused to jump higher let me explain first of all we need to distinguish Between the two types of blips blip ups and wall blips first let’s talk about blip ups blip ups involve landing on the middle of two different blocks of different height so in this case i landed on a normal quartz block and a carpet which are slightly different heights Without going into too much detail how minecraft positioning works is that minecraft calculates your in-game position once per tick and since one minecraft tick is equal to 0.05 seconds minecraft therefore calculates your position 20 times in a single second so what blipping allows you to do is Land and jump a tick before you actually hit the ground now because you are technically jumping before you hit the ground your y level is slightly higher which means you’re jumping from a slightly higher position and they’re able to well land higher this makes it seem as if you have jumped Higher than a block which from a player’s point of view is true but from minecraft’s point of view is false as it thinks you’ve jumped from a higher location as far as i could understand blips are caused by a mechanic in the game called stepping which is what allows you to Walk upstairs and slabs without jumping i’ll talk more about that later but what this means is that the higher you fall the higher you can jump and if done properly you could potentially jump five or more blocks high now there is quite a bit more to it and it can get Relatively technical so if you’re curious check out the mc parkour wiki for yourself as they have lots of good info so now you’re probably wondering how to do this for yourself right well i’ll explain it but before i do if you are enjoying this video then consider subscribing No pressure though alright so using a similar setup to the one i have on the screen now by moving your crosshair down and lining it up with the fourth row of pixels on this ender chest like so you can do it now this is the way i found the easiest First jump once without moving and then do this a second time then on your third jump while in mid-air hold w to go forwards and then hold space if you did everything correctly then you should have performed a successful blip up this may take a few attempts to do So don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it right away also one other thing make sure you’re in version 1.8.9 as in versions 1.9 and above you jump slightly higher so it’s a bit more tricky to do and in versions 1.14 and above they were slightly patched but a new Glitch allows you to do something similar and entirely negate full damage but we’ll talk about that a bit later alright let’s now talk about another cool movement based mechanic called the 45 degree strafe so what you’re looking at now is a jump which isn’t possible to do normally in the game The jump is possible if you have prime momentum but it’s not possible to do just with one single block well it wasn’t possible for a while until the 45 degree strafe mechanic was discovered this method like many others was initially discovered by looking into the game’s code so let me explain by turning 45 degrees left and strafing right or by turning 45 degrees right and strafing left you actually gain more speed than regular movement every minecraft tick which as i mentioned previously is 0.05 seconds the player gains some exhilaration based on multiple factors such as jumping sprinting and more when You simply move forwards in minecraft without jumping you accelerate and acceleration gain is scaled at 0.98 but when moving forwards and strafing acceleration gain is scaled at 1. this means moving forwards while strafing is around two percent faster allowing you to go further like we can see in the video here So the actual jump is very difficult to do as not only do you have to turn 45 degrees extremely quickly within one tick or .05 seconds to be specific but the actual mouse movement has to be very precise and there is only a plus or minus 10 degree error margin This means that if you turn too much which is over 55 degrees or too little which is below 35 degrees this won’t work so yeah unlike blips this mechanic was too difficult for me to pull off and after dozens of attempts i wasn’t able to get it however somebody was Really dedicated to learning it probably could but the problem with this jump is that even once learnt and performed successfully it’s incredibly difficult to do consistently so the next mechanic we’re gonna talk about is really unique it utilizes minecraft’s feature called step assist to cancel full damage from extreme heights Basically minecraft step assist allows players to climb blocks under certain conditions with the obvious conditions being if there are stairs or slabs present but with enough speed it also allows you to climb other blocks as you can see on your screen now and even full normal blocks so let me explain what’s Going on in this video by edd example the step assist which i just explained only works for blocks up to 0.6 meters tall however there is a collision check every game tick which determines if the block is tall enough or the step assist will work if you gain enough speed which Can be done by falling fast enough then the checks don’t happen every block but every second block or even less in this example on the screen now i am climbing the block but i’m still taking full damage because i’m not doing it precisely enough but according to edd example who discovered and replicated The mechanic it only works from certain heights and like i mentioned previously this all happens during collision check which occurs every client-side tick since he was able to calculate what height this works at he is able to successfully use it to negate full damage from extreme height this is even Cooler than an mlg water bucket our final cool mechanic for today is a variant of jump cancelling jump cancelling is where you use a step or a ceiling to cancel a jump’s vertical speed allowing you to gain more momentum than normally possible while this may sound complex or Confusing you probably do it without realizing for example i’m sure almost everybody who is watching this video right now has done this using a 2 block high ceiling to gain momentum when sprinting while jumping and using the ceiling to effectively cancel your jump the other version many of you probably Would have done is sprint jumping upstairs sprinting upstairs without jumping looks like this it’s relatively fast but not the fastest way in the slightest if you incorporate jumping and click the spacebar multiple times throughout then you can go up the stairs much faster now this is a version of jump Cancelling which is known as a slab boost and most of us have probably done it hundreds of times without even realizing now this works because when we walk up a step in game the game wants to correct the player’s position and it does so by setting the player’s y speed Or vertical speed to zero and setting the player’s y-coordinate above the step when this happens the jump’s vertical or upward speed is lost but the horizontal or forward speed is conserved thus cancelling the jump by keeping it forward’s momentum allowing you to jump again after 2 ticks or 0.1 seconds That’s why when you sprint and jump upstairs in third person the player doesn’t look like they’re jumping which is technically correct because the jump is being cancelled so now you know how this mechanic works so how can it be applied to more unique and interesting situations well let me give you an example What you’re looking at here is a jump with a gap of four blocks and a height of 0.75 blocks now this jump is possible with a running start giving you a momentum boost but from a standstill like this it isn’t well actually it is with a stair block instead of a solid block As i previously explained when you jump on stairs it sets your wire speed or vertical speed to zero and because you’re put straight back on the ground this allows you to jump twice basically utilizing this you can gain enough momentum through jumping twice on a single stair block that you can make This jump now i wasn’t able to pull it off but youtuber uber who is well known in the parkour community was so be sure to check him out another even cooler example of this jump cancelling mechanic is using the ceiling variant this allows you to jump five block gaps Like in the video right now this one is basically impossible to pull off without using external tools however but basically by jumping to the ceiling incredibly precisely the game thinks the player walked up a step and like with the slab or step boost the game changes the player’s Position to reflect that and allows the player to jump again after two ticks so basically the player is allowed to jump twice and make it across this five block gap now there are quite a few other mechanics such as the ceiling hover glitch which allows you to hover between A bouncy block and a ceiling and many more out there which are still being discovered regularly by the parkour community we’re gonna move on from parkour techniques now and talk about something else considering we have talked so much about the more unknown side to minecraft parkour i thought it would be Interesting to talk about one of minecraft’s oldest servers in the game which is dedicated to not only parkour but also to other challenges such as puzzles and mazers miner.org is minecraft’s self-proclaimed third oldest server and has been running the same world for over 10 years now since october the 22nd 2010. this also makes them the oldest minecraft server dedicated to parkour and challenges aside from the server’s age what also makes it unique is the fact that in order to access certain features of the server such as build access you have to gain membership and the only Way to gain membership is through the completion of hardcore sets of challenges and the only way to unlock or access these hardcore sets of challenges is to complete maps and unlock points players who do manage to go through this whole process and gain build rights are what’s known as green players and Are well respected within the community what also makes the server so cool is that it is very community driven and together over the past decade the service community has built more than 400 parkour courses challenge maps puzzles and more some of which have been completed upwards of 50 000 times the server is also not paid to win in any way and over the course of its 10 years it has been entirely self-funded and donation free i really think this is what a healthy minecraft server community looks like unlike the dozens of generic and incredibly pay-to-win factions or Skyblock servers which exist today so i encourage you all to check the server out for yourself it’s very active averaging anywhere from 50 to 80 players every day in peak times but anyways that’s a general overview of many of the things you wouldn’t have known about minecraft parkour from complex mechanics bugs and Strategies to decade-old servers with thriving communities my video was intended to give you the audience a general overview of the depths which parkour goes into without going into too much detail to ensure i didn’t bore you but if you want to learn more about certain techniques or parkour In general then be sure to check out the mc parkour wiki which i have linked in the description as well as miner.org i hope you enjoyed today’s video be sure to subscribe and leave a like if you did thank you all so much for watching Video Information

There is far more to minecraft parkour than meets the eye, from 5 block jumps to 1.5 high block jumps. The mechanics, bugs and exploits are incredible, and the parkour community has discovered so much. There is also a minecraft server older than 2b2t, and almost as old as minecraft online, with over a decade of history…
