The Ultimate Sjin’s Byzantine Tavern Hacks!

Hello my friends and welcome to episode three of our mind Colony bantine playthrough I’m joined by the wonderful Mage dunny this episode what we’re going to be trying to do is build the tavern it’s important that I get your guys names in The Colony once again if you’re

A patreon member or a YouTube member thank you very much and make sure you post in the community post or the patreon page your colonist name submissions and we’ll see if we can get you in the colony but basically yeah without the tavern we’re not getting any

New dudes but also our dudes that exist already need a place to sleep so we’re going to be doing that stat but I also want to look into the storage situation we have going on here on the boat so let’s jump in yes as you can see I have

A backpack now and backpacks are amazing but I still have a really full inventory that needs solving so what I want to do is retrofit this whole area down here to be a bit more user friendly at the moment we got a whole bunch of blocks

Here that I should probably mine up and put into storage and we’ve got a lot of storage space as it is but I want to increase that and improve what’s going going on down here oh wow there’s some obsidian as well so let’s see if we can do that now

First up we are going to need to use what little iron we have remaining to make a pickaxe to start getting up some of these blocks so have I got some iron ore in here yeah I do amazing I’ve also got some copper so I’m going to see if I

Can make a copper or Hammer now I must have a smelter down here do I have like a furnace no no furnace okay well I guess we can make one of those I’ve got got the Cobble but if we’re going to make a furnace why not try and make an

Iron furnace so this is where I’m going to look into the all the mods quests we’ve done a few of these getting started quests just by accident basically yeah look at this so let’s get the rewards from these cuz there might be something useful an upgrade base that’s going to

Come in handy for upgrading our backpack honeycomb that could be good for getting more colonists but again I need to empty my pack to do this properly so now we need to make a furnace for Stone Age yeah here we go so into the crafting table on a stick

And we’ll make one of these the first step in making an iron furnace I guess so let’s just get that Quest complete boom XP fuel for our furnace right yeah so we made charcoal let’s make some tiny charcoal boom Quest complete so next step is going to be the

Metal age we need to get some copper Ingot so in this furnace that we’ve now built time to smelt up this copper now like I said we’re not really delving into all the mods 9 this episode or even this series at all but I am using it for a few quality of life

Upgrades so what we’re going to do is we’re going to smelt this copper into ingots and turn it into an or Hammer cuz that’s going to get us more bang for our buck from the iron that we already have oh a name tag that could come in handy

An or Hammer turns ores into dust which doubles it and then you smell the dust to get bars you basically get two ingots for one ore so yeah let’s upgrade this furnace that we have into an iron furnace and this shouldn’t be too hard to do we’re going to dig it

Up wait where’s my pickaxe gone oh silver pickaxe where did I get this from it must have been a reward it’s pretty good so I’ll keep it what’s the durability like on it 97 okay so it’s pretty soft anyway an iron furnace is literally just a furnace surrounded

By Iron okay right so we’re going to need to process the iron that we’ve got before we even think about that so I’ll come back to you once I’ve smelted this copper in fact while we wait for that copper let me check in with you guys how

Playing Minecraft it’s where I want to be and I’m really digging this bantine Colony it’s really fun and it’s going to look amazing ah so in fact this silver pickaxe I can actually use to get these blocks of diamond so I don’t really need

To wait for my or hammer in fact all of these blocks get dug up by silver amazing even the prismarine but not the melon that needs an axe makes sense so what are we going to do we’re going to make an iron furnace so it’s literally just a furnace surrounded by

Iron it’s worthwhile doing because it’s just much better than a normal furnace it can be upgraded with a whole bunch of cool things and we’ll put it down here we’ll get rid of this other furnace eventually so we’ll take out this copper and we’re going to use this to make a

Copper or Hammer put this in the grid get two blocks put the blocks here and here sticks along the middle and Bam copper or hammer and this is absolutely great for turning our raw iron ore into dust now we get 52 iron dust which we can put in our iron furnace why

Not and smelt this up with a whole bunch of coal amazing so what are we doing well we’re going to retrofit this entire area to just be better storage there’s a bunch of things on the floor that we don’t need here hay bales we can dig up put these in a safer

Place and likewise the dried kelp blocks they’re not doing anything just being sat here they’re good decoration but we’re beyond that now this is going to be more about utility down here in the bottom of the boat than decoration so what are we going to do

Now well we need some big chests really big chests there we go nice and out of the way so we’re looking for some big chests what are we going to do chests wise well what kind of chest options do we have we could just make some of these iron chests

Yeah okay right so to make an iron chest we need Redstone so we’re not going to do that but Redstone is kind of Handy and if I remember rightly I saw some in the mine that we have over behind the Builder’s Hut so let’s go and see if we

Can find some of that Redstone juice you haven’t got any Redstone for me do you dny no okay the silent treatment fine I don’t really think she’s here to help out I don’t exactly know what she’s here to do she must have some kind of goal right she looks like an important

Serious busy person an important serious busy people tend to not waste their time I mean I waste my time all the time and I’m very much not a serious sensible normal person right okay so we’re looking for Redstone which means we’re going to go deeper and deeper into this

Mine now I should have brought a way to get down this Cliff face but instead I can just use this pickaxe oh god it feels like a bit of a waste there using the silver pickaxe because it’s not really durable in fact it’s only got yeah 84 durability

Now but this will do for now kind of like a rudimentary staircase down o and Lapis very good okay so we’re looking for some Redstone it’s red and it’s there no that’s resonated or oh there’s rude dudes over that way I’m not going to go that way I’ve got decent armor and a

Cutless but I don’t want to have to fight unless I really have to you know let’s go down here what’s this petrified roots oh that’s a bit of a dangerous pit not going to go down there keep on going Redstone is one of the base game Wars which means the shaders will make

It Glow so it should be much easier to find than other ores webbing oh my God it is a spider C after all I’m not going that way no way I hate spiders both in real life and in game so it looks like we’re dealing with our monster problem the oldfashioned

Way oh a ghost what the hell is that oh lost soul if I had the right material like some kind of Jar I bet I could capture that but I don’t so a load Stone I think that means there’s something underneath here like a spawner yeah there it is oh

Danger zone though let’s kill these guys there we go now I should be able to just despawn this pretty quickly yeah there we go it’s Gone eat lead silver fish well well is this lead is the no the Cutlass is made out of iron eat iron get iron yeah put you in the trouser press bam no more creases for you nice bit of gold bit of iron but we still haven’t found any Redstone man why

Is it so hard to find uh-oh ah speak of the devil should have made a shield but I’m pretty solid so I’m okay there we go redstone ore not a huge amount oh wow but 26 should be good enough for us let’s get top side o remind me to make stairs to get

Up this mine because h up every block oh it’s time consuming okay here we are back on top so I’ve got the Redstone now I think I can make a couple of things to make my life easier so number one let’s make some Redstone torches four of these are what

We need we combine these with not the chests does this work oh yeah yeah Oak chests 1 2 3 4 boom surround these by Iron there we go and this should be pretty cool these chests are actually pretty massive so what I’m going to do is dig up these barrels the barrels come

In handy actually for some of the builds that we’re doing and I think what we’re going to do is see if we can oh no want to put that back wait where’s the where is it no there we go okay the leak has been plugged yeah thank God okay so I can’t

Really dig out any blocks because there’s not much room for that stuff here but I can put down these iron chests and they’re huge look at it so we’re going to be relying on these iron chests going forwards because they just create so much space the long-term goal

Though is to get some kind of computer system set up maybe on the boat maybe somewhere else but for now this will do so yeah maybe we can order these in like certain ways like Organics building materials weapons and tools and stuff and then MK but whatever we’ll think

About that later but for now we’ve tidied up this area and we’ve emptied our pack we’ve also got an iron furnace so we’re good to go right so let’s see if we can make the tavern Block it’s over here on the left it’s very simple we’ll need a barrel some

Planks and a build tool so we can’t use these barrels these are special domum ornamentum ones but I do think we have some basic barrels lying around that are empty uh no oh no wait here we go barrels yeah these will do before we do

That though I am going to make a dank because that’s going to make getting things like Cobblestone so much easier and look look at this it needs a barrel and coal very simple to do so a dank level one boom we’ll make that can we

Upgrade it to dank two oo no not without a lot more Redstone so what we’re going to be doing is making the tavern straight up boom missing a plank ooh do I just steal a plank from the boat no I can’t do that is there any wood lying

Around no well it could be time for a bit of a wood run we got the forests over on Yonder so we’re trying to make the tavern block we’re going to need some Planks get some more planks open up the crafting table on a stick The Tavern and there we go boom so where are we going to place this tavern so I’ve been thinking about this we’ve got the Builder’s Hut over there and the town hall the next thing we want to do next

To the Builder’s Hut is always the warehouse the warehouse is going to need to go backwards and forwards towards the Builder’s Hut loads but the tavern really doesn’t work with with any other buildings you can kind of put this wherever you want so what I think I want

To do is put it over on this side of the river eventually we’re going to link up these two sides of the river with a really cool bridge and like a whole docks and harbor Segment but for now I think a Tavern on this side of the river would look pretty cool we’re not super good for space over on this side of things but I think I’m going to go and try and put this somewhere in the corner over

Here oh my God is that drowned what are you doing get out of here before you eat a colonist that’s right and tell your friends the bantine colony is off limits and I’m going to want to try and keep this the same level as the town hall and

Builder’s Hut because that way we can keep all of the harbor section the same level as well it’s going to be important because when we kind of build a bridge we need the bridges to kind of match up the road level let’s get a bit of a

Bird’s eye view so we can see what’s going on with this all right so we’re over here on top of the Town Hall why not I mean sure it’s a tall building it’ll do so this is the tavern pretty cool looking oh my God it looks amazing

Doesn’t it but look at this level one even requires shingles so it’s not a simple build where is the front this looks like it’s the front so we’re going to bring it over here so that we can compare it to our town hall and make sure it’s the right

Height yeah raise it up there we go so that is identical height to the town hall so now let’s just move it back over the river and into position it probably has some kind of like basement area as well now guard towers can expand the borders of your Colony but also any

Other building can do it as well so having the tavern over here might actually expand things but before we place this I’m going to have a sleep and there we go another day has dawned so let’s go over there now and just make sure it’s neatly inside the colony

Boundaries I mean it should be Right yeah here we go so it backs up against the edge of the colony quite well we’ll move it over a couple of blocks so it’s right on the edge there looking good and this will expand the Border just by being on the edge oh man but it’s not a small

Building is it look at this this is going to require loads of materials but there’s only one way to find out exactly what it’s going to require what does it look like at level one two and three oh my God it’s an impressive looking building at level three

Yeah look at this oh man very exciting well level one we’ll have to do to start with press tick go over here and let’s see what the building materials are oh that’s quite High actually can I uh just nerd pole up here a bit ahuh yes hm very interesting so the framed beige

Bricks we can do that cuz we got some beige bricks on the boat loads of dirt that doesn’t matter just get some shovels and go crazy hay bale slab I didn’t even know hay bales came in slabs that’s amazing and a lot of spruce wood shingles some chains which is lucky we

Got loads of iron and some Vines and a little bit more diorite so the shopping list it looks like at the moment is go and find some jungle in the jungle we should find Vines so we’ll need to take a set of shears we’ll also need some

Deep slate so jungle Vine Vines and deep slate and some Granite so there we go so where was that jungle that we saw earlier this is a rainforest with oh my God mahogany trees no way there’s a source of mahogany this close I think I know exactly the type of tree we’re

Going to Splash around the colony but here we go on the edge of the rainforest it’s the jungle so this is where we’re going out Beyond this weird Temple so here it is oh look at this some cool structures it’s always worth checking out these randomly generated structures

Because hey look at this we found a little bit of granite amazing now it looks like uh there’s been a bit of a Terrain malfunction and this weird Temple has spawned in a bit of a tricky situation that’s a problem for tomorrow though let’s raid this sucker and get

This Granite this will come in handy there’s loads of this now ideally we don’t want polished Granite we want just like the raw thing because you can’t unpolish Granite it’s like if you polish your shoes I mean what are you going to do to unpolish them just drag them through the

Mud kick them around the street for a while and I don’t really want to kick some Granite around the streets for a while cuz we got better things to do also I wouldn’t even know where to look for a street so we’re on the lookout for granite always diorite and what’s that

Down there what’s that purple thing is that crying obsidian that’s weird anyway the rainforest isn’t really going to help us although those mahogany trees look amazing but I think what we’re going to do is oh yeah look at those Vines so we have some iron ingots that’s

Lucky for us I almost forgot those shears boom amazing now we could get pretty rich here if we do it right so Vines can we oh yeah you can ultim mine Vines amazing well that’s giv us a stank let’s get a couple of stanks cuz this stuff is

Good now we could also get some cocoa beans we’re not going to grow them just yet but going forwards it’s going to be great to have these to fall back on at worst it’s going to save us spending emeralds on getting cocoa seeds so let’s dig ourselves a couple of jungle

Trees wow oh oh no the ax broken it’s left a bit of tree in the sky and you know what I think I’m going to be that guy I’m going to leave this tree hanging cuz I haven’t got another ax so next on the shopping list is deep

Slates and granite now I feel like H where do you find granite whoa now wait a minute hold the phone what is going on here there’s this weird spooky looking graveyard I mean this might have some loot it might have have something we can use let me just empty some stuff into my

Backpack create some space and let’s check it out so oh skeleton bones will come in handy for bone meal an iron pickaxe perfect are we going to take this skeleton skull um not yet we don’t want to disturb the spirits of the Dead you never know when they’re going to come

Back to bite you in the butt nothing worse than a ghost that bites your butt we’ll take enchanted books cuz colonists can use those let’s head home but before we do we’ve discovered this pyramid it would be oh Stargate Journey oh my God is this like some kind

Of Stargate mod that sounds amazing Stargate is like one of my all-time favorite series if there’s a mod based on Stargates oh man that sounds crazy oo this looks like a trap a ring Panel oh this is way above my pay grade I have no idea what’s going on down here what about this way more of the same no oh oh hello loot hello loot Don’t Mind If I Do there’s a golden idol wait if I take that is that going

To set off some booby trap oh my God God so new sword yes please slippers creepers avoid me amazing oh this is some great loot emeralds compressed Stone asses oh my God we’re going through these immunity to fall damage from some boots that looks great some more gold lovely stuff

Iron which we’ll take we’re avoiding a lot of these things oh bamboo useful y you know what a pretty sweet hall now do I want to take this golden idol or not H let’s decide yeah you know what why not oh oh no oh what have we done hey

Ah jokes I just edited that in nothing actually happened but I had you for a second so this stargame mod looks pretty cool something to check out in my other series but we’re all about building the tavern this episode so we need to find some granite and some deep slate as

Well so back at the boat let’s get rid of some of these bits and Bobs that we found oh man though we hit the motherload look at this we just got super rich a golden idol what is that used for anyway an archaeology table from Stargate Journey a man that sounds

Really cool I want to check that out in my all the mod series but and we’re also going to put on some uh bunny Hoppers cuz I think fall damage is more dangerous to us than creepers at the moment knowing me it definitely is true oh man look at that and they even

Look like bunny slippers when you’re wearing them that’s amazing so I’m the pirate bunny or the bunny pirate whichever one of those Works which reminds me I need to watch some more one piece anyway let’s go and see if we can find some of that granite or deep

Slate so down we go into the depths of the world there’s so many open caves down here that I’ll be very surprised if we don’t run into a little bit of oh wait look at this I can jump higher now as well oh that’s amazing I love it and

No fall damage baby look at this woo bam deep slate though this is the stuff let’s grab and go and what we’re going to do is configure the Dank to have deep slate as well this is going to be a great place to store

It bit of gold don’t mind if I do so we’re looking for quite a lot of deep slate because I think the build is going to need quite a lot and other builds are going to need loads going forwards as Well oh my God Enderman things are getting very deadly but these bunny Hoppers are great I can just bounce my way through the deepest darkest scariest biomes and not worry at all bit of loot down here oh my God it’s a mimic ah but if we kill the mimic we can get some

Valuable artifact I seem to remember that it has stuff that you can wear on it now it’s not got a lot of Health 60 Health which is quite a lot but um there we go chest Slayer and what did he drop some gloves ooh what could these be vampiric gloves

The Malia tanks absorb Health oh that’s so good diorite is very useful so we’ll grab as much as we can I’ll have to make a new pickaxe as well but this is going to be well worth it Okay so we’ve got a fair amount of deep slate now and a sight Cobblestone

Even some tough but what we’re missing is the granite and this is actually quite hard to find I think our best bet is somewhere on the Overworld because I remember seeing Granite spawn in like rock biomes on the ground all the time but finding it underground is

Never that reliable you never quite know where it’s going to be so let’s take a look at our map maybe there’s somewhere where we’ve been where there’s Granite um it could be over here in the desert there’s lots of orange sand at least and gravel and

Stone aha look at this over here so in the bad lands I think we’re going to find loads and loads of Terra Cotta so where am I okay so I can sail down this River this is quite the epic journey there’s nowhere else closer is there a savan plateau oh yeah there’s open

Granite over here on the savan plateau so I can sail down the river and arrive to find the granite we need well okay let’s do it so we’ve come to that point in the episode where it’s time to relax and unwind and this is also a great way for

Us to explore some of this surrounding area a little bit more got the Redwood Forest over here we’re not going to explore that much because this is the river we came up but it’s time to set our sights on that Badlands savan biome across the sea so that we can grab some Granite so the advice for bisen time build style was that you should be near a desert because the build style needs a lot of clay and sand but the truth is so far we haven’t required any sand at all I’m sure that’s going to change as we get higher

Level but certainly early on for the builds with bisontine you’re going to need a lot of granite and diorite so I do actually recommend building somewhere where you know nearby there is a source of Granite uh a rainy day so I didn’t know this but did you know that wild animals actually like the rain oh my God I don’t like the rain anymore though I am not a wild animal that was spooky oh man yeah look at this a massive source of gravel as well so I’m

Not quite sure why it said we need gravel for the building either because I haven’t no notice much gravel at all but yeah this way should be it aha so one thing we are going to need is lots and lots of Terra Cotta so this is going to

Be something that I gather for sure very nice nothing but the finest terracotta for our bantine build now we’re quite far away from our Colony so we don’t need to worry about this area looking messy but like I’ve said before as well because we’re leaving dirt in

Its wake the grass is going to spread over this dirt and keep it looking good so I reckon yeah this is going to be plenty of Terra Cotta at least for the moment but the big thing I came here for is this stuff right over here that’s

Right orange gold or as I like to call it Granite so there we go looking good the Dank is filled with terracotta and granite we’ve got loads in our pack we’ve also got a whole bunch of deep slate this should be everything we need to get the bits built for our Tavern

Let’s go hook up Jay and get the tavern built so our Builder has a lot of land clearance to do over here and it’s something I probably should have helped out myself with oh but it looks like H I guess dunny has decided to help after

All and here she is clearing out some of this chaff some of the grass and the Shrubbery amazing but another problem the Builder has is the fact that his builder hut is across the river and Builders go really really really slow through water so a word to the wise if

You’re building over a river it might be a good idea to build some kind of land bridge to help them out and speed things up the taverns a really cool building but because it’s only got three levels it means each level has to be a bit more decorated than the previous one and

That’s why the T level one requires some really high-end materials to craft It Gathering all that deep slate and granite was a real chore But ultimately it’s really good that I’ve done it now so I know a where to get more in future and B I have a nice stockpile going forwards but beyond those tricky bricks and using the architect’s cutter to make

The shingles it wasn’t really too tricky as long as you have plenty of Cobble and the wood that you need for the build you’re pretty much good to Go so it does look like this build has a basement area so I’m pretty excited to see what that looks like but also just in general this tavern looks really incredible I’m really inspired and can’t wait to start designing my own style of build I’ve got some good ideas but I do

Think a modular Castle style system would be pretty cool but it’s going to be a lot of work and honestly I tip my hat to all of the guys that have made custom styles for mine colonies it’s an insane amount of work to redesign a building five

Times and to do it for all of the Well there must be more than 30 different types of building in the pack now I guess a good way of getting around that is by bundling some buildings together and that’s why it’s really cool when you have a university

That also comes with a school and a li It’s going to save us a lot of space doing the bantine build because space is something we’re really going to need oh man an amazing build that took absolutely forever and it was kind of fixed so basically the Builder stopped here on this corner every now and again

So what Builders do when they’re put in that situation is they kind of hang around and then after like about a minute they teleport now he was doing that every time he had to go back to base so it was taking him forever to build this building but oh my God was it

Worth the wait this thing is freaking fantastic look at this such a goodlooking build and this is only level one J hoes you are a master now it should only be a matter of time before people start arriving in the tavern in fact I think if we go upstairs

We already have our first dude oh yeah buzar mcpoodle welcome to the Colony now we don’t have any extra housing so we can’t actually hire anybody yet but what’s great is our existing colonists now have a place where they can sleep really cool and yeah oh look they’re already

Coming over to have a have a pint you coming over for a drink random nerd yeah go help yourself to an Elderberry Gin so the one thing we’re going to want to do before we go any further is probably build the dock decoration because I want a bridge that’s going to span over this River so colonists can get from one side to the other much quicker and cleaner

Cuz that’s also what was taking Jay so long oh man look at me here with my bunny slippers so a massive thank you to dunny for helping out in the build I just wanted the tavern built now if you don’t mind I need a drink uh yeah sure
