There are many ways to play minecraft by far the most popular of which is on mobile devices that’s cool but the thing about touchscreens is that the controls are a lot more clunky and imprecise than what you find on a keyboard or controller so when it comes to speed running mobile Players are obviously going to be a lot slower than other i’m sorry what on august 15 2021 speedrunner eng submitted a 12 minute and 30 second rsg speed run for minecraft bedrock 1.16 shattering the previous mobile world record by over seven whole minutes certainly that’s cause to celebrate but It’s not the most incredible thing about this run 12 minutes and 30 seconds was also faster than mouse’s console world record of 13 minutes and 4 seconds and it was faster than the number one pc time of 13 minutes 35 that’s right eng had beaten out xboxes ps4s laptops And high-end desktops to get the fastest bedrock speed run of all time with nothing but his two thumbs and an android so the question is was this run faked no i’m just kidding there are a few strategies players can choose when they’re running bedrock there’s classic strats where you get to The nether early find a fortress and then kill endermen or trade with piglens in the wastes for pearls another option if you find a bastion first is to trade there pearl to a fortress and then try blind traveling to the stronghold if you’re wondering ocean strats don’t really work on bedrock because fewer Shipwrecks have chests and most ravines don’t have lava today ian is trying out a less common strategy that requires a lot more resets but has the potential to pay off big time we’ve all heard about divine travel strats calculated travel strats cheating strats well how about already knowing where the stronghold is strats That’s what makes bedrock runs absolutely insane in bedrock three and only three strongholds usually the closest ones to spawn will generate underneath villages as you can imagine having that marker on the surface makes locating strongholds a lot easier but village or not strongholds still generate very far from Zero zero this is where bedrock’s spawning rules come in handy for whatever reason bedrock only lets you spawn in four biomes the taiga the plains the forest and the jungle so if the game initially puts you in the middle of say a desert it’ll just increase your x-coordinate until you Reach a spawnful place if there aren’t any spawnable biomes nearby it’s possible your x-coordinate will have to change by hundreds of blocks maybe far enough out for you to spawn right on top of the stronghold after several resets ian spawns into a forest biome at x-coordinate 912 z-coordinate 20 which is definitely far Enough away for strongholds to generate and also an ideal place to find strongholds under villages bedrock villages generate using a grid system and as you can see on this chart those three villages that correspond with strongholds are most commonly found along the x-axis from 868 to 1140. Ian’s right in that sweet spot so even though the spawn might not seem ideal at first glance he knows he should take a look around sure enough he finds a tyga village where he lose some chests for emeralds that he trades for food i won’t pretend touch screen controls Aren’t a disadvantage because frankly they are but like most good mobile runners eng makes things a little easier on himself by using a key mapper this allows him to for example set one of his volume buttons to toggle his perspective and this isn’t to say mobile doesn’t Have a few advantages too for one players get an extra block of reach which can be helpful to get iron he aggravates the golem and then digs a two block hole to protect himself as he kills it it might seem unusual to do this instead of pillaring up but it works just as Well and it’s a little easier on touch screen controls the golem drops 3 iron which is low but enough for a bucket he already has a flint and steel from a ruined portal he found earlier plus an iron pick so he’s all set time for the stronghold so where exactly do you dig Well the starting staircase for the stronghold if it’s under a village is always going to be located in the same chunk as the village root which the game considers the center of the village within that 16 by 16 block chunk the staircase is specifically going to generate at the four four coordinates so That’s where you’ll dig a couple problems though how do you find the village route and even if you do there’s no way to view chunks in bedrock so how do you know where 4-4 is a player named springs realized that the positioning of bells in the village actually corresponds to the location of The stronghold using these clues you can find the edge of the village root chunk and go from there locating strongholds with perfect accuracy springs strat saved this run because if ian had dug down directly underneath this village bell instead of a few blocks away like he did he would have Missed the stronghold completely even if it’s relatively likely for a stronghold to be under this village there’s no guarantee so he just assumed there was none reset and our world would never be the same luckily in this universe he ends up right at the starter staircase unfortunately he only got two beds from The village earlier meaning he loses time stopping at the library for string to craft more village looting is essentially muscle memory for ian at this point and since this village was a little different from what he’s used to he made a mistake other than this ian navigates the stronghold pretty efficiently and ends Up in the portal room less than 5 minutes into the run ian expertly builds the nether portal something that can be done pretty quickly on mobile because instead of turning your whole character to place a block you can just tap anywhere on screen this strategy of using lava and wood to Light the portal on fire is a lot faster and more reliable than it is on java so you’ll see a lot of bedrock runners use it the only problem is that ian is so used to doing it this way he forgets he has a flint and steal from the ruined portal Right there in his inventory could have saved a few seconds but it’s no big deal entering the nether there are no structures in sight ian will have to explore and find a bastion and fortress himself which is a tall task on bedrock there’s no f3 screen meaning he can’t use the entity Count to scan for bastions nor can he use the pie chart to locate fortress blaze spawners the quadrant system still exists in the bedrock nether which helps a tiny bit but unlike in java not every quadrant is guaranteed to have a structure what’s more the quadrants are bigger in bedrock meaning players might Have to search a larger area overall much of this is down to luck but the minecraft gods are on ian’s side today there’s a bridge bastion just a little ways from the portal what’s so great about that well java’s trash is often bedrock’s treasure complex bastion routes exist to fit both Versions piglet ai but in bedrock an even better option is often just to find the bridge’s giant pig statues an interesting quirk of bedrock piglens is that they’ll trade instantly whenever you break a gold block so having so much gold to mine in one place speeds up the process by a ton At this point ian has enough pearls to fill in the portal travel and then some all that’s left is to find another fortress fortunately he doesn’t have to travel too far he pillars up to the fortress and kills some stray blazes first that’s unfortunate before heading for a spawner There’s a 1 in 15 chance in bedrock that the blaze spawner will be missing but luckily that isn’t the case here because bedrock still uses spam click attacks instead of a cooldown the blaze fight goes very quickly knowing the portal is a two eye he’s safe to head Out with just five blaze rods at this point eng is on the fastest pace in mobile history by far all he’s got to do is purl back to the stronghold hope for a quick perch and pull off an incredible one cycle no pressure can he cement his place on the mount Rushmore of minecraft history we’ll find out after first event is starting soon now back to the video ian crafts some extra beds and heads through the portal it’s crunch time Many a promising speed run has been killed by a slow dragon perch but this time the dragon swoops down to the exit portal almost immediately time to go in for the kill minecraft speedrunning is more advanced now than ever strategies have rapidly evolved and multi-instancing now allows runners to Load multiple seeds at once as they push a simple sandbox to the absolute limits it’s cool but we can discuss that stuff another day the point is in a time when runners have more tools at their disposal than ever for someone to defy the odds and win it All on a touchscreen just because that’s the way he’s always loved to play well i think that’s pretty cool ian throws an ender pearl at the dragon’s neck to activate quadruple damage he makes a few melee hits and then builds a lava tower to slow the dragon down if it tries to escape Then he blows up the beds to finish it off what better way to cap off the greatest speed run in bedrock history a huge congratulations to ian on the record and a big thank you to him for answering all my questions about bedrock runs the link to his channel is in the Description you should absolutely give them a sub in addition i’d like to thank sprinks danny15 and gucci gang liliaki for being extremely helpful with info about the newest This video is not a faked Minecraft speedrun, nor is it a Dream speedrun, nor is it even a Java Edition world record speedrun for the new Minecraft update. There was no cheater caught or exposed in this run, I’m happy to say. If this were about a faked Minecraft world record speedrun, it’d be our third faked cheated Minecraft world record speedrun video in the past month. This video is about a Minecraft Pocket Edition speedrun.
