Social media for that matter? Perhaps you’d even check Notch’s Twitter account to see if he’s posted anything new about his in-development game that many have regarded as the fabled “Second Minecraft” or maybe you’d think I’m referring to Hytale the highly anticipated “Minecraft Killer” that we’ve been waiting to see get announced since 2019. Or maybe you’d simply not believe me, you’d presume I’m just messing around, we’ll sit back relax & grab some popcorn because ladies & gentlemen I’m really not… So welcome back everyone to what is yet again another brand new video on my channel, my Name is of course Catmanjoe & today as I just mentioned we are going to be talking about “Minecraft 2” or as it’s more formally known, Crafting Block World: Magic Dungeon Adventure. With a name like that It just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? Now I was made aware of this beautifully unique & totally original game by a good friend of mine called Mvxz when he Tweeted at me saying: “Just seen this is releasing on the Nintendo Switch on July 13th. Looks pretty familiar, huh?” Followed by four photos that did look strikingly similar to a certain block game we all love. Now since that tweet was made the game has been released worldwide on the Nintendo Switch at the incredibly generous price of just £8.99 I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that the world-known game developer “MeGame” was releasing such ART at such a low price. Before we get started with the game itself though for those of you who aren’t immediately familiar with “MeGames” & their game-changing back catalogue of work, they’ve released such cult classics as: Zombies in City: Apocalypse Survival ZIC: Zombies in City Mahjong Connect Onet Puzzle Sokoban Block Puzzle Brick Breaker Ball Shooter Chess Classic Board Game Elite Soldier Shooter Backgammon: Board Game Puzzle Solitaire: Classic Card Game Air Hockey Arcade: Casual Board Game Connect Dots Puzzle: Classic Casual Arcade To say I’ve been a fan of their work for years would be an understatement & a blatant lie because they’ve only actually been developing games for less than a year. But let’s stop chatting about our favourite game studio & get started with what I’m sure will be a life-changing experience of a game! Ah, look at that! A beautiful panorama of a blocky world, so unique, I’m going to cut the sarcasm now as if I didn’t this entire video would be filled with it. You know when I initially bought this game I actually I guess foolishly & naively thought The developers might have tried to make it somewhat unique, you know? Make it less of a “Minecraft Clone” & more of a game inspired by Minecraft, but nope. Instead, the developers opted to copy the Minecraft panorama home screen but instead Of copying everything else the Minecraft home screen has like I don’t know a settings section to learn the controls for the game or even adding a button that we can press to start the game they just slapped their knockoff Minecraft logo on the screen & added the text “Press to play” Press what? My nose? My cat? Be specific at least! Now provided you do manage to find something to press you’ll then get to what I guess we can call the start section. Like what is this? You’ve given us two squares with different photos in them but no text to clarify which Each one is or has inside it, just the text “Choose world” at the top of the screen so you can either choose caveman or skeleton. For my choice, I went with the skeleton & my god did it suck. You spawn in on what I believe to be a randomly generated world much like Minecraft & I’m not sure why but at night. The first thing you’ll notice is the unbelievable level of sheer plagiarism this game has. From the grass blocks, birch wood, oak wood, oak wood slabs, cobblestone, cobblestone slabs, Crafting bence, furnace, chest, bricks, sand, sandstone, sandstone slabs & even coal ore they all look like they’ve been straight-up lifted directly from Minecraft. It’s funny because the only things that they haven’t stolen & had to make themselves are either complete garbage or look like they shouldn’t even be in the game. For example their ripped-off versions of Zombies, Spiders, Skeleton, Pigs, Chickens, Cows & Wolf all look like they’ve been quickly made in blender, they are so rigid & sharp that it’s strange & makes every mob seem like it’s not meant to be in this game or like it’s unfinished. And their textures, don’t even get me started. The textures for the mobs are so bland that it looks like they’ve been done with a crayon. Half the time they either are one entire colour or at max three different colours, that’s it. I’m not kidding by the way, look at the zombies for example, their three colours are blue for their skin, yellow for their T-shirts & brown for their pants. The spiders are just completely black with red eyes & a slight tinge of grey on the fangs. The pigs are just pink. The chickens are white with a smudge of yellow & red. The cows are white with grey. And the Wolfs literally are just grey. Now I don’t know if this is how they are meant to be but couldn’t the developers have given them even a smudge more texture? Especially the wolfs. Some spots or even just a couple of patches so we know they aren’t just untextured mobs because that’s exactly how the wolf looks. You might have noticed I never mentioned or showed the skeleton by the way & the reason For that is because I am honestly convinced the developers forgot to add the Skeleton to the game. I know it’s insane to expect the developers to remember to actually add one of the three enemies but what can I say I’ve got standards. But seriously I played the game for over five hours straight to make this review & never once encountered or even seen a skeleton, excluding when I chose the world at the start… So continuing on with the missing skeleton enemies let’s talk about some other seemingly Missing features that I couldn’t find during my playthrough. The first was the “Magic Dungeon Adventure” we were promised. See the start of the title says “Crafting Block World” which is true, the developers managed to make that part, albeit by making a complete carbon copy of Minecraft but the End of the title is where I think they’ve just forgotten again. The problem is that there is no magic, there are no witches, no potions, no spells, no enchantments nothing magical. There also are no dungeons, no mob spawners, no boss areas, and no hidden loot, again it’s not there. They even partially lied with their description of the “Adventure” you can have with them saying in the official Nintendo Game description: “Crafting Block World is an adventure with sandbox elements that will help you build your ideal world!” “Explore the vast block world full of mysteries and interesting places! Endless plains, dense forest, dark caves – your adventures know no boundaries! Find a comfortable place and start building!” Ah yes! The “Endless plains” that do actually end, the blocky world with literally not a single generated structure to discover or the many mysteries such as “Why did I pay For this game when it’s free on both Mobile & Steam” Also as for the description mentioning “dark caves” I’ve got no clue what they are talking about. I never once in my entire playthrough found a single cave never mind a dark one. It’s complete garbage that sells itself as a creative game in the hopes that some parent dumb enough will buy it as a replacement for Minecraft. Ironically enough after typing this script, I took a minute to read the reviews on Steam Where the game is now free to download & one of the most liked reviews said: Me: Mom, can I have Minecraft? Mom: we have Minecraft at home Minecraft at home: So I know we just talked about all the missing features but let’s now talk about all the useless ones. Believe it or not, the developers had time to add completely useless features to the game but couldn’t add missing features, I know huge shocker for me also! Let’s begin with food. Why is it in the game? See they added hearts like Minecraft to represent the player’s health which makes sense & I’m Not criticising that but what they didn’t add was a hunger bar, so why is food needed? Now in case you are curious no, food doesn’t restore hearts like what it did in Minecraft before the hunger bar was added & even if it did you still wouldn’t need to eat as Your health constantly regenerates. This isn’t because I’m playing on peaceful or an easy game mode either, there is no choice for game modes so this is just how the game works meaning that food is completely useless. Another useless feature is leather & feathers, see when I found out that we could get leather From killing cows I thought wait can we make armour or item frames like in Minecraft? & the answer was no. Leather has no purpose whatsoever, it’s not used to craft anything or tame any animals, it’s just entirely useless. Which along with food makes the cow & pig both useless mobs. Then the feather, when I killed a chicken for the first time & got one I immediately thought “Hey if there are skeletons with bows we should be able to make bows & arrows” but nope. You can’t make bows & you can’t make arrows, you can’t craft anything with the feather. And speaking of bows you can craft sticks & spiders do drop string but you can’t make bows. In fact, you can’t make anything with string making again another useless feature along with chickens now. Lastly, I wanted to mention the game’s two glass blocks, one is like our normal glass Pane, it’s thin, looks nice & is useful for seeing what is outside. While the other is literally just smoke in a block. Why would you make this & use it? It’s not able to be looked through, it’s ugly as hell & just doesn’t make sense. Again another useless feature. I’m sure you’ll be as surprised as I was when I mention that this game does have a progression system albeit an incredibly terrible one. See when you start a new world you are “level one” & this means you are limited in what you can craft. So imagine this, the already terrible creative game with literally a selection of four types of wood with each type having its own plank variant & slab variant, then sand with sandstone & its slab variant then cobblestone & bricks is now giving you even slower access to those already pathetically low creative blocks… You couldn’t make this up. At level one though you can craft wooden tools, a crafting bench, all wood plank variants & some other basic small things like torches & sticks which I can’t lie I honestly thought were one of Arnold’s Stogies at first. But then to get the best tools in the game, the GOD TIER tools you need to be… drum roll, please…. Level two. Which will mean you’ll need to gain just 500 XP. Also, these GOD TIER tools in case you are curious are just stone tools because this Game only has two resources for tools, obviously. Now XP can be earned in a number of different ways, the best being by killing hostile mobs such as the Spider & Zombie. Killing an enemy gives you 100 XP, which is not bad. Killing a normal passive mob such as a chicken, pig, wolf or cow gives you 15 XP. Breaking or placing any block gives you 5 XP. And killing yourself gives you INFINITE XP! Just kidding about that last part obviously. So what LEGENDARY crafting recipes are locked beyond level two you ask? Well, prepare yourself, wooden slabs, cobblestone slabs, brick slabs, sandstone slabs, windows, doors, clay blocks, a chest, a furnace, sandstone, bricks & a bed. I’m not kidding that’s it. Now as a small reminder here, the best tools in the game got unlocked at level two, how Many levels would you think the developers would put a small thing the bed behind? Maybe level three or four? How about trying LEVEL FOURTEEN! Oh, and the Developers didn’t just add the bed at level fourteen they also added windows & doors. Then beneath that at level twelve you can finally unlock wooden slabs, cobblestone slabs, sandstone slabs & brick slabs. Then at level eight, you can unlock the ability to craft bricks & sandstone. Level six lets you unlock the clay block. And lastly, level four allows you to unlock the chest & furnace. So this means between unlocking the best tools in the game at level two & unlocking the bed, door & actually usable glass as opposed to smoke in a block, we have twelve levels with basically absolutely nothing useful to gain. The only value levelling up actually does is it gives you “spendable XP” See to make this entire progression system even more terrible the developers thought they’d add the game function that XP is needed to BUY certain unlocks when you reach the right level to unlock them. So for reaching level two, we can get the best tools but we also only get two XP points To spend. To now unlock the ability to craft each tool we need to spend one XP point meaning we can only choose two tools meaning we’ve got to grind to level three where we’ll unlock another 2 XP meaning we can unlock the other two tools. It’s an incredibly dumb & annoying system that I’m convinced was only added to slow down player progression & fatten up the playtime. But here are the specific XP requirements needed to complete each level. To complete level 1 you’ll need 500 XP To complete level 2 you’ll need 1000 XP To complete level 3 you’ll need 1510 XP To complete level 4 you’ll need 2030 XP. To complete level 5 you’ll need 2561 XP. To complete level 6 you’ll need 3102 XP. To complete level 7 you’ll need 3654 XP. To complete level 8 you’ll need 4217 XP. To complete level 9 you’ll need 4791 XP. To complete level 10 you’ll need 5377 XP. To complete level 11 you’ll need 5975 XP. To complete level 12 you’ll need 6584 XP. And to complete level 13 you’ll need 7206 XP. So in total, the XP needed to complete level 13 & reach level 14 so that you can unlock everything the game has is: 49,507. To give you some options you would either need to break 9,901.4 blocks or kill 3,300.46667 animals or kill 495.07 enemies. All of that work, just to unlock a bed, door & usable glass. What a waste… # Glitches & Death. So before we end the review I wanted to cover the very end of the game & the weird experiences I found. In my playthrough I didn’t die once, I played nonstop for five hours & by the end of my playthrough had built myself a nice house, terraformed land all around me & deeply upset the Lorax. However, one weird thing I noticed was how the game seemingly broke down the further I progressed. From the start, I had been experiencing jittering but by the end of my time playing it was becoming more frequent. Additionally, I noticed something strange with the levelling up system, it broke. After reaching level fourteen & unlocking everything the game had to offer I presumed I’d no longer have any more levels to reach but I was wrong. There was in fact a level 15. To complete level 14 I had to get 7840 XP then to complete level 15 I had to get 7840 XP but this time when I reached that number it just kept going, up until 8450 XP. Level 16’s XP bar didn’t exist but I reached it, somehow. And then that’s when things got, weird… Perhaps the developers never expected someone to play for this long without deleting the Game or throwing their switch out a window or perhaps it was a purposeful choice made by the developers to reward you for playing all the way to the end but I gained the ability to duplicate anything I wanted. All I had to do was place an item, then break it & hold down the breaking button & the game would glitch continuously dropping more of that item. I tried with slabs, glass, torches, wood & even coal ore & it all kept duplicating. Then I tried something else, dying. Normally when you get killed you lose your items, your XP & spawn back at the world spawn but I didn’t. I’m not fully sure if it was because I had placed a bed or what but I just couldn’t die. I could be killed but I then could respawn right back where I just died with all my items, XP & full health. It wasn’t like I was respawning in my house or on my bed, it was right back where I died. So who knows if it was a glitch or a feature… One other aspect of this game I didn’t quite cover was its other “world” You might remember at the start of this video I mentioned how there were two different world options, one with the skeleton & the other with a caveman. Now the reason I haven’t fixated on the Caveman world until the very end of this review is because I barely played it. I spent five hours of my five & a half hour session playing this game on the “skeleton” world & only the last thirty minutes playing the caveman one. The Caveman world is literally just the same as the Skeleton world except retextured. That’s it. There are still only two enemy mobs, this time instead of the Zombie you have the Caveman & instead of the Spider you have a Velociraptor. There a no new blocks to discover or new mechanics either, everything is literally the exact same but retextured slightly so I didn’t feel the need to spend hours playing this world or dedicate a huge section of the review towards it either. Crafting Block World: Magic Dungeons Adventure is at best a mediocre carbon copy of Minecraft that goes as far as stealing assets from the game it so desperately wants to be & at worst a plagiarizing money grab that promises things it doesn’t deliver. It has basically no originality whatsoever with one exception being its Caveman world which is thankfully a little more unique than the Skeleton version but still lacks any direction or care for one. It tries nothing new & doesn’t even manage to keep up with what it promises to deliver. It has useless features that don’t bring anything of value to the game like leather, feathers & string yet it doesn’t have much-needed core features such as a proper hunger system so there is an actual reason for eating food. If I had to rate it out of Buy Now, Wait for Sale, or Never Touch scale I’d say Never Touch even with a ten-foot pole & if you do request a refund as quickly as possible & if you are lucky enough to get one, run. MeGames are lucky that the Nintendo Store sucks & doesn’t allow refunds or else I would have refunded this game the minute I loaded it up & seen its pathetic attempt at a knock-off Minecraft home screen. I’m honestly amazed & also heavily disappointed that this game even managed to make it onto The Nintendo Store as it’s literally a knock-off Minecraft that hopefully Mojang one day manage to get pulled down, it really made me question the care for quality control the Nintendo Store supposedly has. And with that all being said that is it, ladies & gentlemen that is the end of this video, Thank you so much for watching if you did go to enjoy it please share it with your friends, drop it a like, & leave a comment letting me know your thoughts on “Crafting Block World” will you be buying it? Do you think it’ll overtake Minecraft as the most successful game of all time? Let me know down below. Additionally, if anyone is interested in trying this dumpster fire of a game for themselves I’d highly recommend doing so either via the Steam store or one of the APK downloads for mobile you can find online, do not buy this game EVER. Also, be sure to subscribe & turn on the notification bell to stay notified when I release any new content on the channel & other than that thank you for watching & I’ll hopefully see you peeps later… Video Information
