These Mods Turn Minecraft 1.16.5 into a Horrifying Zombie Apocalypse!

Hey guys in this video we’re going to try and turn minecraft into a zombie apocalypse styled game even with there being less mods than what’s available on some older versions i’ve still managed to find some pretty decent mods for 1.16.5 using forge if you have any of your own recommendations leave them below

And you can find all the links of these mods in the description We can begin the pack by designing our world starting with the lost cities mod this mod will add a new option to the world creation screen where you can force abandoned cities to spawn in minecraft when using this mod it makes minecraft feel more post-apocalyptic and also gives you a new goal of

Reclaiming and rebuilding the city you can even set yourself goals such as turning a city into a functional and safe village You can also take a look at the desolation mod it adds a new biome which is the charred forest it really fits the zombie theme as it looks like a forest which has been destroyed by fire possibly from a military strike the biome is pretty dark in general and

Features new charred woods which makes a great new building material you’ll be hit with negative effects when in the charred forest so you’ll need to wear a mask and goggles which gives even more immersion new mobs are also added with this mod which do kind of fit the

Post-apocalyptic theme but they can also be disabled if you want to remove them better weather will make a lot of changes to the atmospherics of our world firstly you’ll now find seasons which affect the temperature of biomes the crop growth rate and the color of vegetation although where this mod really shines is

With the new weather effects one of my favorites is the cloudy weather which makes your world look gray and gloomy there’s also acid rain which can injure mobs players and animals while also being able to destroy your crops you’d think after an apocalypse the world would be

A little radiated so acid rain might just make sense with our pack depending on the story you’re going for to make sure your world stays as a zombie apocalypse you’ll want to install bad mobs when you edit the config files you can choose exactly what mobs you want to spawn

That way you can turn off other mobs like spiders creepers and skeletons thankfully the config file for newer versions of this mod are much easier to edit zombies burn during the daytime so it’s a good idea to install mob sunscreen with it installed any moms that normally burn during the day

Will now be immune allowing them to stay around for longer while also adding more of a challenge one of the better mods i’ve found is zombie xtreme which feels like a mod pack on its own to start you’ll find new buildings spawning all throughout your world

Which are mostly made up of houses and stores some are intact and some are abandoned there’s new blocks which make these locations more immersive and chess inside which often contain some useful supplies there’s other storage containers as you’ll be able to search the likes of medicine cabinets and vending machines

A new biome is also included with this mod which is the dead sands it’s a very dry and lifeless looking biome but has some nice particle effects which add a bit of realism zombie extreme also includes quite a lot of new armor which includes camouflage military and even police armor which

Some zombies will be wearing when it comes to weapons there’s lots of melee ones which really suit the apocalypse with some being knives saws and hammers alternatively there’s a few pistols too which require ammunition this mod requires lots of new hostile mobs which mostly consist of different types

Of zombies you’ll find regular sized ones which all look a little different to how they normally do some will be wearing hazmat suits some will look like the military and some will even explode you’ll also find much larger zombies such as rat kings clickers and brutes who all have a lot more health

Finally you’ll find other types of creatures which have been infected through your world such as wolves bears and parasites this mod offers so much and is crucial to any zombie base pack i’ve even found survivors wandering around the world who are wanting to trade there’s so much more to talk about with

There also being new food and healing items too another huge mod to use is the crafting dead which has been around for a long time starting with the medical items there’s bandages first aid kits and lots of syringes which can cure diseases and provide you with adrenaline

There’s tons of new clothing items too as you can equip masks full outfits and body armor pieces which are all equipped in a new interface which can be opened by pressing the z key there’s a load of new weapons which range from pistols rifles shotguns and snipers which will help deal with zombies

At all different ranges with the new throwables you can use grenades decoys and flashbangs against both the undead and other players just like with zombie xtreme there’s quite a few melee weapons as you’ll come across chainsaws bats axes and more finally there’s some other special items included such as binoculars

So you can see the surroundings and radios which can be used to call in air drops which contain lots of supplies just to make the game a little harder you’ll now also have to stay hydrated with a new hydration bar visible on the hud vanilla zombies will still spawn in your

World which all look a little basic and repetitive dazao zombie pack is a resource pack which will add over a thousand new textures making sure that each zombie is completely unique there’s new sounds too so this pack combined with zombie xtreme will make the zombies in your world incredibly diverse

You’ll need to use optifine to make this pack function the crafting dead adds its own zombies which i’d personally disable in bad mobs so that you can make use of this resource pack as well as the next two mods there are more mods which can change what type of zombie will spawn

With the first one being more zombie villagers it works with the previously mentioned resource pack so each zombie villager will look a little different in the config you can change the chances of a zombie spawning as a villager instead another great option is zombie horse spawn just like the previous mod

You can define a chance for a zombie to spawn riding a zombie horse their spawn rate is very low so you’ll probably want to tweak the settings a little zombies are going to focus on taking out any villages in your world if you want a bit of help with

Protecting villages then try out the guard villagers mod it will cause a group of villagers to spawn in each village which are equipped with armor and weapons you can even recruit unemployed villagers to help out this mod is great as the guards won’t injure each other or the villagers and they have their

Equipment repaired by the blacksmith with them also being pretty intelligent overall too improved mobs will make changes to lots of mobs although we’re just focusing on the zombies for this video from now on zombies can spawn with both armor and weapons which can even be enchanted and will provide zombies with increased health

And damage as the game progresses in time you’ll find that zombies become more difficult to defeat as their health damage speed and knockback resistance will slowly increase zombies will also break blocks to reach you and can even climb ladders when zombies spawn they can be holding active items like tnt

Flint and steel and even ender pearls which they’ll make use of and try to kill you to add a bit more of a challenge you can try out the enhanced celestials mod the main challenge comes with the blood moon event when they happen the number of mods that spawn will be massively increased

And the player won’t be able to sleep making surviving the night a lot more difficult another event is the harvest moon which instead will make farming a little easier the crop growth and crop drop rate will both be increased which would give you a good opportunity to farm some food

Security craft has a few ways of being useful with the most being the use of cctv cameras you can set them up in different locations and remotely check your base to make sure everything is safe the mod also includes some new explosives which take the form of land mines bouncing betties and claymores

There’s a lot of other blocks that allow you to feel like you’re managing a bunker during the apocalypse you can use key card readers which trigger redstone cage traps which can catch other players and laser blocks which can be used to set off alarms if somebody or something gets too close

Vending machines will now spawn in villages which will sell items for emeralds each morning they’ll reset and sell different items so it’s a good idea to check them each day you can configure the items the vending machines sell as well as the type of currency they use i’d recommend installing the corpse mod

When you die your own body will be left behind and will store all of your items it’s a very helpful mod and you no longer have to worry about your items despawning or being destroyed don’t forget about dynamic surroundings the mod which makes your audio and visual experience a lot better

To briefly explain it there’s a lot of new visual effects with the most prominent being auroras and fireflies which are both quite beautiful the new sounds will make your world a lot more immersive as you’ll find sounds for different biomes as well as new sounds for footsteps

There’s quite a few other features we’re talking about but these are what you’ll notice the most all these mods combined will likely make your world quite difficult to beat especially early on it’s a good idea to install starter kit so that you can start with some items

To add a bit of lore i’ve made my character a police officer so he spawns with a baton and a police uniform which provides some basic defense i also spawn with medical kids from the crafting dead as bleeding out early on makes gaining progress close to impossible

Another mod i wouldn’t go without is toro health damage indicators when hovering over a mob you can see its health bar which shows both its current and maximum health you can also enable health bars to be displayed in the world above entities too when you hit a target you’ll be able to

See the amount of damage you deal and how close you are to killing something xero’s mini-map will add a mini-map to the top corner of your screen it shows all your surroundings and will switch to a cave view when you go underground by pressing the u key you can add

Waypoints to important locations so you never get lost and by pressing y you can open the settings so that you can move the mini-map if it’s blocking your health bars a good idea would be to switch on the entity radar so that you can see every mob that’s around you

As well as players I’d also recommend installing a backpack mod as you’re going to be spending a lot of time exploring and running away one of my favorites is a traveler’s backpack it provides over 40 inventory slots and has a built-in crafting table sleeping bag and fluid tanks making it great all around

If you want something simpler then i’d recommend extra space instead which adds a backpack that has multiple tiers but none of the extra stuff that the traveler’s backpack has stoneholm a mod we’ve covered a few times fits in our world perfectly in a zombie apocalypse you’d expect a

Lot more communities to move underground which is exactly what this mod does you’ll find entrances on the surface which lead to underground villages which are a lot easier to defend than ones on the surface these villages also have some abandoned passages which you can clear and gain access to more rooms and space

From the tests i’ve done it seems villager guards won’t spawn naturally here but regular villagers can still be converted valhelsia structures will add a few new structures which will randomly spawn in your world i think this mod makes a great addition as some of the structures have ruined versions

You’ll find castles towers dungeons and houses which should just help make exploring a little more interesting there’s also a player’s house which you can use to live in to set up towns you’re going to want to be able to transport villagers you can use villagers leashed which will

Allow you to place a lead on villagers or villagers follow emeralds so that you can lure them i’ve turned this list into a modpack which would save you some time as i pre-configured it too there are some incompatibilities i want to talk about all the mods shown in this

Video i have them all running together without any major problems from what i could tell the crafty dead mod overwrites the spawning of any natural zombies meaning you won’t find zombie horses and zombie villagers naturally spawning in your world anymore it’ll also make tazhao zombie resource pack unnecessary as the zombies included

With the crafting dead have their own textures already so i’d probably recommend disabling the spawning of advanced zombies in the bad mobs config overall this pack might be really difficult too as zombies will be around when you spawn if it’s too difficult i’d recommend removing improved mobs or tweaking the settings

I’ve also noticed that with the lost cities sometimes the villagers are spawning underground in walls or sometimes the cities aren’t spawning at all i’m not sure if that’s an incompatibility with some of the mods we’re using here or if it’s just unstable and that completes the list for our
