They just added New Dimensions to Minecraft (1.16 Snapshot Update 20w21a)

What up guys welcome to minecraft snapshot 20w 21a this will forever be remembered as the snapshot that added in custom dimensions and infinite dimensions that i think about in today’s video we will be exploring some of those custom dimensions showing you how you can add some we’ll also be checking out

Some of the other various additions changes and bug fixes that came out in this week’s snapshot and finally we’ll be checking out a really cool website that you guys can access right now that’s going to allow you to customize with ease all of these new custom

Dimensions so you can add them to your survival worlds today let’s jump in so yes using this new snapshot we have the ability to add in custom dimensions and so what i’ve got here at the top my world select screen is the aether you guys are going to want to check this

One out you’ll be met with an experimental settings page that you know it’s just like the terms and conditions of course you read it it’s all good baby so check it out the aether it says it’s not the 8th it’s just the overworld yes this is of course we’re going to start

When you do add in custom dimensions to your worlds as you can see here it’s still the bedrock over world we know and love or you know or maybe used to at this point but check this out if you run the following command execute in you’ll be met with all the different

Dimensions found inside of this specific world save file and as you can see here we have the aether that’s the new one right the end the nether and overworld those are the ones that we are all used to so minecraft the eighth here now we’re gonna try this one again we’re gonna run

In that world the teleport command i’m gonna run it on myself and we’re gonna teleport 100 blocks in 100 blocks in 100 bucks in press that and within the same world here we are in the eighth right now i know it’s not a bunch of cloud blocks all over the

Place but the idea here is this snapshot has allowed players to create their very own biomes it’s base or dimensions and then biomes within those dimensions it’s all data driven and it’s really cool we’ve got the ability to you know add in structures they don’t have to be here

And if you look at the bottom right now it’s still experimental as it literally said on that menu here so the biomes technically spawn on top of n blocks in the nether dimensions it may be the same we’ll explore that in just a little bit but here’s something that’s

Very unique about this before we had the buffet worlds where you could add in floating island biomes but there are multiple biomes right now and while this seems like one small little island that’s because it is based on the main end dimension which only has one small

Biome at the very center but as you know if you’ve ever been to the end cities 10 000 blocks out in either direction will take you to some really cool oh no way look at this hey that is sweet there’s a mushroom island biome right here but look at this

There’s multiple biomes all over the place you’ve never been able to do this before today’s snapshot and this means that crafty map makers command block makers data pack people functioners whatever you want to call them now have the ability to make their very own dimensions and make ways for the player

To access them in the main overworld so that they can go on their own adventures and again you can choose if structures spawn in this world you can choose if features do you can change the time of day you can change the temperature of the different biomes

We’ll be going all over that stuff at the end of the video when i show you the world generator that you can you literally use to plug and play new dimensions into your very own survivor worlds but this is extremely groundbreaking stuff like we’re gonna be

Able to do a lot of really exciting things as minecraft gets more and more data driven pretty soon we’re going to run out of things to be asking for all that we’re really needing still is the ability to make custom blocks and i think maybe custom mobs and the rest of

It’s going to be there in due time now this one’s got a whole mess of mushroom island biome but let me show you a different example of what this could look like so here we are in a minecraft world that my boys ethan and blue set up

For me for today’s video and as you can see here we have a whole mess of different dimensions all within this world some of them are pre-made such as this amplified one and again if we were to run that teleport command and i don’t know just check out a part of the world

We would see exactly that a whole bunch of amplified terrain or i guess in this case what an ocean now we can start to see the landscape moving upwards this is one of the world settings that you normally have when you’re creating a new minecraft world

Well now you can just add this as a new dimension in your minecraft world maybe you want the amplified dimension maybe you’ve got some command block friends that can help you set up a certain item combination that allows you to access those this dimension i don’t know after you

Beat the wither or beat the ender dragon a second time and this is like the hard mode part of the world it doesn’t even end there though i mean look we can continue to run and change the different dimensions that we run to let’s check out blues space dimension that one

Sounds awesome so again an example of what this could be we have landed essentially on the moon except that i guess the moon has water on it now this is an example of a fixed time world so time will never move on its own in this world so anyone that downloads one of

These new dimension packs whenever they come out and don’t mess with the game rule settings it will always be dead of the night on this moon the moon’s with the moon above it right right it doesn’t have to make perfect sense here but let me check out another

One of these dimensions with you just so you can continue to get an idea of what we are dealing with here we’ve got ooh flowery caves here’s an example of the nether and right you see netherax still all over the place again this is oh

And a whole bunch of lava this is all going to change at some point in the near future i can imagine they wouldn’t want every single custom dimension based on the nether’s world generation to have netherrack all over it otherwise you know what are you doing but there are a

Whole mess of settings that have yet to be fully figured out and fleshed out with respect to what they can do there is a lot still to be figured out here and you’re going to want to subscribe so that once it’s figured out we cover it in another video but for now just

Take it all in stop and smell the um poppies i guess this is an example of world gen using what i assume if we check here is the flower forest biome and you can kind of see that if you follow my mouse right here see biome flower forest yet up here the dimension

Flowery caves it now sits in this top area of the f3 screen so this literally is its own dimension if we were to kill ourselves in minecraft specifically we’d go back to the overworld you can see f3 here and we’re back in minecraft overworld in a savannah let me show you

One more example right now before we go into some more detail in a different area of today’s snapshot because this gets a little bit data heavy and you’re gonna have to make a couple different modifications outside of minecraft in order for your stuff to start looking

Like this uh it’s like a toss-up between icy floating island and yeah i’m gonna go world of diamonds that one sounds sick this is a super flat world structure still turned on slime’s ahoy literally everywhere yes this truly is the diamond dimension somebody called dan he’s probably going to have a panic

Attack this is oh you know they are going to town on this iron golem it looks like he’s about to die anyways the point is opportunities are now literally limitless because you can add as many of these dimensions to one single world as you can and as you can

See here you can customize them in a lot of big ways and it’s only going to get better and better as a developer spend more and more time adding changing modifying tweaking and perfecting this brand new setting we’re gonna shift gears we’re not gonna show you the steps

Required in order to import the settings for these custom dimensions so on the create world screen you’ll click create new world then you’ll go to more world options and you’ve got a new button right here it’s known as import settings pressing that will open up a new folder

Window and you’ll be met with your minecraft saves folder or wherever you left off last now right inside of this folder we already have a few different things we’re gonna do worldtest.json pressing open on that will allow you to import the settings that you’ve downloaded from a website or from the

Generator that would be covering later et cetera et cetera et cetera and you wish proceed it now says world type custom right here instead of the normal options of amplified large biome super flat et cetera et cetera et cetera you can of course change the other settings

To be creative mode the difficulty blah blah this and that and we’ll just do new world and loading the world in you’ll see that these settings have now been entirely imported now if anything we’ll still start in the overall technically but as you can see from what we did before if

We go execute in we have all of these custom world settings that have now been added in and at a moment’s notice if you want to export your very own world gen settings you’ll just go to the single player world go to edit right here once you’ve selected a world of choice and

Then you’ve got an export world generation settings option and now it’ll show you where you’ve exported it so that is going to be an easy way for you to share your dimensions with your friends or with you know the internet at large now the actual world settings file

Is in fact just a whole bunch of minecraft json code that has been written out to tap into all of the various different criteria parameter et cetera that minecraft offers when making a new dimension for example presets you’ve got minecraft nether you’ve got the seed in question you’ve got what

Type of world gen that you’re tapping into all these different settings you can even change the time like i said the level of ambient light you can change the temperature there’s a temperature option in here somewhere the different biome type that you want to show up in

This dimension etc etc etc again more on that later alright so the last thing we do before we show you the custom dimension generator is show off the rest of the changes and additions in today’s snapshot so first of all redstone changes the redstone dot has returned on

Right-click you can change it back to that regular old dot as you can see you can toggle this and it does in fact change the hitbox of the redstone so you can’t break the redstone here it has to be within this plus but right clicking will make that hitbox a lot smaller now

The thing that’s important to know is that redstone dots do not power all sides this is powered right here but because it’s in that form it is not powering these glowstone lamps versus over here when it’s in its regular form you know the plus you could say it is

Now in fact powering those lamps changing that though you can see some stark differences here so keep that in mind that may actually be really good for contraptions moving on piglet changes when admiring gold piglets will no longer walk around so i’ll go ahead and spawn in a friend here check it out

Take some take take do you like oh he loves okay hold on to it normally these guys would be moving around when you know they’re angry at you they start coming for you well that’s no longer the case they will not move when they’ve got that in hand it is legit

Distracted by it and i have a feeling it’s going to turn into a zombie piglet real soon so we should probably go ahead and just move on for the time being changes to lily pads this is a pretty cool one they’re now considered junk fishing loop rather than plain old

Treasure yeah this thing right here no longer rare that’s going to be lovely for anyone that is used to fishing this is the current junk table right junk leather sticks bones things of that nature these are all examples of different things you can get as junk when you go fishing

Meanwhile over here we’ve got the treasure table you can see you can get things like saddles saddles nautilus shells ooh and enchanted fishing rods these are the real cool things you can get well no longer will you get hey that’s a good book no longer man these guys are so mad

At me that i keep opening chests no longer you get lily pads in your treasure loot table and so that’s worth celebrating and then of course custom dimensions since you can now export world settings you can modify and add those now we already covered a lot of

These so i’m not going to go ahead and do that for you but there are some other customized world settings that you can access from within game so if we were to go to create new world you could see here that we can be a little creative not too creative and

If we go to world options here we have the buffet world type that we essentially had options to before that now comes in the form of world type single biome which basically makes an overworld of the biome of your choice you’ve got all the different biomes you

Can find in game listed right here uh we’re gonna do caves yeah that’s a good one and now let’s do floating island so we’re gonna do a soul sand valley of floating islands see how that one comes together i haven’t seen what this one looks like yet you’ve of course got your import

Settings if you really wanted to and that’ll open up a new window for you and alternatively you’ve got a couple other abilities to customize as well under game rules so you can change all of these different things we’ve covered that in previous snapshot videos but for

Now we’re good we’re going to go ahead and create this world and show you exactly what it looks like when you’ve got floating soul sand valley biomes all over the place again you notice right off the bat it’s basically placed on top of end islands and there’s only this one

Center island okay but going to f3 we literally are in seoul sand valley you see gas spawning in you see the various different structures spawning in where there’s room for them more importantly you can see things like nether fortresses and we saw a bastion just over there a second ago continuing

To spawn in seemingly well not seemingly actually in the middle of the sky now keeping in mind what happened before if we were to go 10 000 blocks out as we did you’ll see that all of these infinite items start spawning in or islands rather start spawning in all over the place sometimes

With some bonus structures placed in as well this makes for some really cool biome and world dimensions quote dimensions that you can make without needing to know any code whatsoever you are of course limited and that becomes the one quote unquote overworld in that world but hey

Not a big deal we’ve got a couple cool ones that i made earlier this is just basalt biome with the cave world generation type okay we had this in the form of buffet worlds before now this just continues to go forever and it is sweet i i wish

Minecraft caves i wish they look like this to be honest i mean just take it all in ladies and gentlemen one of my new favorite biomes has got to be the basalt deltas and that’s what we’re seeing right here various levels of cave systems just all over the place

And we can even show that it’s come in a form of the floating islands for some end dimensions so we’ve got the crimson islands right here and again we’ve already seen this we see structures spawning in this is just the end islands basically with a lick of crimson forest

Paint on the top of them either way though it’s cool to see the custom worlds starting to come back and make their way into snapshots once again there’s obviously going to be more additions tweaks and changes to them so that they are even more exciting to use

But now let me show you a special website that you can access to make some of these dimensions yourself all right so now let’s make some custom dimensions of our own in the description today’s video find a link to world gen settings generator for minecraft courtesy of awesome minecraft community member miss

Ode i hope i said that right anyways this is a web page where you can enter in all the various criteria that goes into all of this command code that we saw earlier on aka that json file you can add a new dimension and then give it

All sorts of new features so we’re going to go ahead and do that exactly now so let’s add in the ultra dimension we’re gonna click add dimension and then at the bottom here we’re gonna see that we now have ultra right here for us to be able to change

All sorts of settings about it so we’re gonna go with noise now the difference here are the difference in the world type flat is a super flat world dimension noise is landscape and terrain uh not necessarily the sky floating islands and caves yet so you’ll want to

Keep that as noise if you want anything that resembles an actual minecraft world unless you did want superflat and then of course debug which is its own different story i’ve actually got a video on the debug secret world if you want to check that out on my channel

Again dimension c this is going to be we’re going to do tyler that’s the dimension this is like entering the world seed in your world selection so we also have gen well i mean maybe we should just do minus one because it doesn’t look okay we’ll go with minus

One this thing wants to make a but it’s got a mind of its own okay overworld yeah we’ll go with that as an overworld so now we can choose between different biome types the different ways that they are placed i like the idea of checkerboard interesting

What is that going to lead to then you can even do your biome seed right and so this is a fairly rudimentary code base that you’ve got access to not every single setting you can’t change temperature in here you can’t change fixed time currently i believe missout is slowly adding the different

Parameters and criteria to this generator so that eventually it works the way you want and then of course you’ve got nether biome presets and i think that has something to do with ambience you can change if you want large biomes or regular size biomes and once you’ve

Added in that specific dimension up at the top here it will spit out that code you can click copy that will highlight everything for you and then you right click copy you’ll want to paste this into in its own text file right so we’ve got that right here

Bam we’ve pasted it on in you’ll save that as the different json file and then using the ability we showed you before import that into one of your minecraft worlds and once you’ve done that you’ll have your very own custom dimension and of course one of the coolest final
