Minecraft is a game full of infinite wonder and endless possibilities well not quite infinite minecraft’s distance from one end of the world to the other is 60 million blocks or 60 000 kilometers now don’t get me wrong that’s enormous the entire circumference of planet earth is just 40 000 kilometers minecraft is already 1.5 times bigger than even our own planet and we have it all to ourselves you might as well call that limitless you couldn’t realistically explore every square meter of it within your own lifetime but for me that still begs the question what if we could have more what limits Our silly little block game to 60 million blocks end to end or 30 million from the center of the world well a little over three years ago i experimented with this question in a video that i’ll have linked on the top right of the screen i deleted the world border and what i Found astonished me not only does the world not crash when you surpass 30 million blocks the world’s terrain generates all the way out to the signed 32-bit integer limit of 2 billion 147 million 483 647. that’s over 70 times bigger than minecraft’s current world and over 100 times bigger than Even our own planet unfortunately however there have existed some oddities that prove that minecraft this far out was radically unstable like how mob behavior was completely broken a billion blocks out so then why is it that mojang the developers of minecraft have begun to systematically fix these issues one By one well that leads us to the topic of this video i think mojing is going to heavily extend or even remove the world border from vanilla survival minecraft worlds not convinced well let’s go ahead and let’s get right into it Whether or not it’s been by design minecraft has had some kind of world generation limit ever since the game’s inception from minecraft inf dev through beta 1.7 some form of farlands existed somewhere over 12 and a half million blocks away from spawn beyond that blocks just stopped being solid From minecraft beta 1.8 through release 1.7 the world just stopped working somewhere over 30 million blocks out and from minecraft release 1.8 and onwards we’ve been met with the world border at 30 million blocks minecraft has always had some kind of world limitation the game’s code breaks down when the numbers get big However quietly in the background mojang has been fixing many of these issues especially in minecraft release 1.16 their fixes reach so deep into the game’s code that instead of things breaking down when we surpass the world border which we can surpass with mods in minecraft 1.16 almost nothing breaks anymore from 30 million blocks all the way out to 2.147 billion almost everything just works well almost but not quite here’s what used to happen before at least minecraft release 1.15 arrived we teleport 2 billion blocks out and chaos i mean the world itself generates just fine but mobs do not behave correctly at all And neither does lit tnt on top of that the vast majority of particles rendered incorrectly at these kinds of distances but ever since minecraft release 1.15 and especially recently with minecraft 1.16 mojang has been systematically removing many of these problems tnt appearing in the wrong place when lit over a billion blocks out That’s been fixed mob ai failing at super high distances that’s been fixed too in fact if we look to the minecraft wiki and check out the page titled distance effects in java edition which musicbike who’s helped out this channel a lot in the past manages we can see just how many individual Problems that mojing have fixed lately some of these effects were super difficult if not impossible to see within the confines of a vanilla minecraft world but mojeng is still fixing them just between minecraft 1.15 and 1.16 alone mojang has fixed 40 of these issues so again to me this begs the question What else is left to fix and what’s stopping mojang from just removing the world border outright well let’s go ahead and let’s check that out using the forge farlands and world border removal mod for minecraft 1.16 that’ll have linked in the description down below there are four Primary bugs that mojang would have to fix in order to consider making this change and removing the world border one starting in minecraft 1.14 lighting just stopped working for distances that exceed 33 million 554 432 blocks if we look in the f3 menu we can see that ground level lighting beyond this point Reads as zero preventing any passive mobs from spawning beyond this point at all aside from that number two sounds are still pretty messed up when traveling hundreds of millions or even billions of blocks away sounds just kind of play in the incorrect location you’ll hear water and lava when there’s none even Close to you if we surpass 2 to the power 30 or just over 1.073 billion blocks away item number three villages just kind of stop i mean part of them still appears but yeah i don’t think i have to explain this one any further and number 4 also when surpassing 2 to The power 30 if you try to walk into the side of a block while traveling further and further out you’ll just get stuck in the block until you back away from it if you jump into the block and keep holding forward same thing you’ll remain stuck until you back away beyond that There’s two smaller bugs involving blocked translucency and weird biome temperature behavior but that is basically it if mojing fixes these small batch of issues there’s almost no reason that they couldn’t expand the world border and allow for minecraft to become 100 times the size of planet earth within a single minecraft world If we were to generate all of this minecraft terrain instead of the world being roughly 97.2 petabytes as i calculated in this video that i’ll have linked on the top right of the screen it would be nearly 500 000 petabytes or 0.49 zetabytes that’s about one percent the size of the Entire internet today now why would mojang want to do this well because it’s awesome because instead of our minecraft world being only 1.5 times bigger than the earth it would be nearly as big as the sun and for that reason and many others like it i’d really like to see mojing extend the World border in a future update to at least just 2 billion blocks it certainly seems like they’re headed in that direction already so yeah do you agree with me let me know why or why not in the comments section down below but anyways guys that just about does it for me for now If you guys enjoyed this video please consider leaving a like on it because it would really help out myself the channel and the video quite a lot so i hope you all enjoyed my name is ant venom and i bid you all farewell thanks so much for watching Video Information
