But hey guys toski here and welcome back to a new series with Mithian and this kind of special occasion because methionine is happy we all know what happens with myth yawns happy mods get written okay I don’t understand that face myth I’m sorry now unfortunately unfortunately

Wasn’t as magical one no it was ARS Magica too so uh welcome to the ARS Magica – let’s play and I hope you guys will enjoy this myth Aeon has done a lot of work and I’ve done very little beta testing so I kind of feel bad about that

But the team doesn’t mind you’re crazy and I hope you guys don’t mind we did a little bit of a setting up here and I stole some of your sugarcane what do you do about a myth Wow fine here and basically we got a few

Things set up so we got a home base we didn’t want to necessarily bore you with that but we got a few things set up and I’ll show you the basics as I enter here there’s the lectern with a book on it there’s the crafting bench crafting

Lunch why do I keep calling it that we have the inscription table and right beside it we have the oculus which is very cool because it kind of looks like it’s following me and I totally just realized this not long ago so I kind of enjoy that

So if I open up the this table here the inscription table this is a lot different than the other one and basically I can’t really do too much with it right now I’ve got to unlock my magic so in ARS Magica one there was the the arcane empowerment table now that

Has been completely removed and to start magic you need a few things you need a book and an item frame now I have an item frame but I do not have a book I should have the supplies though for one a myth I think you can hear me method do

You happen to have the sugar cane still could use some stuff for block I’ve got leather or you can just make me a book let me fine – I’m not going to complain – thank you myth now to get started in ARS Magica – you’re going to want to

Find some this liquid now myth now I kind of made a little tank down here to store it ah this is called liquid essence and it kind of looks like water I believe it’s going to be retexture at some point but bear with it for now um

Basically to start off ARS Magica you place an item frame buy some liquid essence and you put your book there and it does this really really cool effect and you’ll notice the book doesn’t look like the same book I had this is called the arcane compendium and basically as

Simple as that I’ve unlocked magic now did you really lock me out nice try so basically you’ll you’re noticing this book here this is the arcane compendium that’s in this lectern here now the arcane compendium is essentially the easiest way described is it’s like the thaumcraft the thaumcraft thumb nomicon

Where it basically tells you everything there is about the mod I’ve got the guides here which can tell me everything creating spells spell components things like that items let’s say mobs oh I don’t know I really don’t know what Dark Mage looks like oh he looks like that

I’m going to spin him around because I’m having fun but basically the arcane compendium will contain basically all details about ARS Magica so if you don’t know how to craft something an oculus for example you can check the recipes right here from this book so it’s definitely I really enjoy the fact that

You can that the way you start magic is by creating one of these books that tell you everything you need to know about the mod it’s a fantastic way to start now because I just unlocked my magic I really can’t do anything yet so I’ve got to actually go over here and and

Basically pick my skill tree now you’ll see my skill tree is actually already picked um I decided to specify I specialize in no offense of magic there’s also defensive magic and utility spells and basically there’s all these skill trees and you’ll notice there’s actually a few logs here based on config

I’m only allowed to learn the first three I’m basically allowed a depth of three into a new skill tree because I’ve picked um the offensive skill tree already so I’m locked in no offensive and I can’t really go too much further that isn’t to say that I can’t learn

This dispel here it’s just to say that I could not learn so the more powerful ones now these three numbers here there’s blue zero a green zero and a red zero armed they’re basically the different I forget the word for it but they’re the methyl filmy and I’m sure skill points Wow I

Really don’t feel very smart now the different skill points blue is used for things earlier in the tree green is later and red obviously for the end of the tree more or less and you just need to find them to be able to progress now there’s various ways to get

Skill points but that will come up later I’m sure so you start off with three so I’ve picked a few things I picked having a projectile physical damage and magic damage now this is leading into spell creation so I’m going to need a book that I can write in actually yeah I’m

Gonna need a book that I can write a myth are you so out there I totally forget how to make one of those books I’ll try to make one now okay okay I got a book and I believe I need a quill right so just a feather are we out of

Feathers well thank you and an ink sac probably thank you so to start creating a spell I need a book and quill myth has made plenty of these as you may have noticed so basically spells are made up of three things you’ll see these there’s two different things I can see here there’s

Some there’s a square here there’s an octagon here and if I actually go back into the oculus you’ll see there is a third one these diamonds well if I open up the arcane compendium these three things if I go to where is this guides in spell components here this will

Describe basically these three things the square ones are known as shapes and shapes are used to shapes are used to basically dictate how a spell target something so if I open up these shapes here basically AoE beam chaining channel self so basically what do i target if

Target self I’m casting a spell myself obviously a AOE I’m casting a spell in an area components is basically what your spell does so I want to I don’t know I want to dig so I basically cast a an AoE dig if I picked a an AoE shape

And a dig component and it would just dig in an area now the modifiers which is the diamond-shaped things they basically can modify the effect of the component or shape so if I picked dig once again and I picked so I picked the dig component I pick the shape a OE if I

Pick the modifier radius it will increase the a the area of effect so basically there is well you can see there’s a large number of different components I can put in plus there’s a lot a few shapes and then on top of that there’s quite a few modifiers and if you

Do the math there’s probably a very very large number which I do not feel like calculating because I’ll do the math wrong of spells you could possibly make with ARS Magica now to make a spell I don’t know if myths been gathering some supplies for me but I will start out here

And you can see I need a a book and quill here so I’m going to put that here and now I’m going to dictate what my spell does so I’m going to make a projectile spell that causes let’s see magical damage or physical damage ah we’ll do physical damage so basically by

Putting all these in I can create the spell in this book and quill basically this will create me a recipe now you really do not want to take it out until you’re ready otherwise you can be wasting book and quills you may you have to get well you basically need a shape

And a shape and a component before you have something that you can really take out and not waste the book so this is will be my first spell it’s called spell roll speed by toss key now if you read this you can actually see everything about this so this is really cool how

I’m creating a combination of a projectile spell that causes physical damage here’s the materials I actually need to make it so mithy on care to grab some materials for me I need a few things now the materials I don’t know if you can hear me myth I need an iron sword I

Need a red rune I need a snowball I need an aerial area one arrow and venting dust and on top of that any time you’re doing spell crafting you need a rune a blank rune I should say and you need a spell parchment ah those crafting recipes are

The exact same as the original ARS Magica if you forget them you could always look in here the arcane compendium so I’ll just pop this up there’s the basic rune and the spell parchment which I do not see maybe I’m blind I really don’t see it well if it is

Missing I’m sure methyl on it so keep in mind this is an early beta so obviously things can be rough oh thank you myth and here’s all my items so I’m going to get on to it so basically here this block or structure I should say is know

Is called the crafting altar and if I go over to the oculus and go to structures crafting altar you’ll see there are many permutations of this now I can go through and I can actually take a look at how this is made layer by layer kind

Of lego style if you would and basically I could say okay well how do I make this and I just build it follows directions now you’ll notice that I can also move this over here and if I target this crafting altar block I can click it and

I can see how that’s made the crafting altar block itself is victim dust and stone that’s cool so this is a really really intelligent way of basically showing off how to create these structures now there are different things that affect spell creation and how many blocks you can make basically

Not blocks how complicated what spell you can make so if I go to crafting alter block here basically you can create it out the crafting altar itself the main portion out of of it out of a few different materials wood stone sand stone bricks nether bricks and nether

Cores and each one has a different effect basically they all have a number of effects that they allow think of an effect as a shape component or a modifier so I believe ours is made out of stone brick so we basically can get effect out of that on top of it the top

Portion which is gland the center which is glass right now we gained another effect you can also use coal redstone iron lapis gold diamond or emeralds so in theory you can make a nether quartz crafting altar with emerald blocks and be able to put 11 different spell

Effects on the same spell which is crazy compared to the two we can make with our stone brick with our glass but uh everything does come with a obviously exploration and as you see we needed snowballs for the spell so I’m going to actually create my first spell here and

To do that I’ve got my spell recipe and if I put on this lectern you will notice that the book starts spinning one thing you would want to be careful of is if you put the book down and it’s red you don’t necessarily want to craft that

Spell or bad things will happen what bad things I’ll let you guys explore and find that out but uh that’s just a word of warning now I’m going to start this out by throwing my spell parchment in and I am totally wrong meth I forgot care to enlighten me

Rune it was one or the other and I got it wrong so the moment I throw it in this amazing effect happens where you can see swirls of magic essentially runic symbols here and myth is looking at my head and calling me pretty good höckert and then you can see also the

Book is emitting some nice light and particles and vent iam dust and what just happened if I put the book down I must picked up the book so apparently I’m going crazy but uh basically this shows me what what I need to put into the altar next so

Here’s the VIN team dust and now I need the arrow let’s put the arrow there snowball the red rune and now the iron sword so basically I’ve thrown everything in that the book said now I need the spell parchment and that creates my spell so let me pick that up I’ve got a

Projectile spell which I could do anything I call it ah I don’t know projectile spell you know what that’s going to be lame I’m just going to randomize it absorbs water walking breath of doom Platinum that’s it it’s cool sure we’ll go with that and I’ll

Just pick a random symbol for now so here’s my spell and let’s go test it out see what it does so you’ll notice that the spell creation system basically allows for a ton of variety and obviously the more complicated of a spell you create the more you’re going

To need your slime but let me just fire this off a few times and now you’ll notice at the bottom of my screen I’ve got the secondary bar and what that is is that’s my magic experience bar now the more often I cast or I should say

The more I cast the more experience I gained now you’ll notice I’m actually taking breaks between casting if you you keep casting in quick success in succession Wow and basically your spell’s going to be less and less effective and you’re going to gain less and less experience for it so basically

Oh I guess it’s the wrong word less experience yeah um basically when you start out though your spell’s are less effective and until you become more proficient with your magic correct me Theon so as I start out my spells will actually be weaker until I get a bit stronger even

Though I’m using diminished casting I mean that’s pretty cool and you’ll notice that I’ve already got like half a magic level so in in arts magic a two as opposed ARS Magica one levels are not based on the experience which is really a nice mechanic so there are also a few

Different ores that you can get in ARS Magica to so we’ve collected a few things we’ve collected moonstone chimer right venting dust you’ll remember vent iam from ARS Magica one the blocks look a little different but they’re really cool looking there’s blue topaz as well so there are a few additions and they

Will all be found naturally occurring and even if you create a world umm already in ours Matt without ARS Magica and if you wanted to our add ARS Magica in the future methionine has even added an option where you can tell ARS Magica to basically generate ores in worlds

That you’ve already got existing so there’s no excuse not to use it so as I was saying about the light light liquid essence this is what you’ll find in the world so this is a naturally occurring pool of liquid essence this is basically what’s under our house over there except

You can bucket it up so myth has a bucket of it right there and I can just run around and say yeah we want to sort here and basically you can use it for whatever you want
